Matchmaking at Port Willow

set in the scottish highlands Beatrice runs the Princess and the Pea Inn. sweet story of Beatrice and the people who visit the inn. this is the first book I have read by Kiley Dunbar by I will definitely read her others.

This is the first Kiley Dunbar book I’ve read and whilst it does seem to continue on from a previous novel I didn’t have any problems with missing background although I think if you’re considering this I’d look at reading the previous one first just to avoid spoilers. It’s a very character led book with loved up Beatrice honing in on a few hotel guests that she feels would benefit from some gentle meddling both to start a relationship and to relight one. I liked that the issues of miscarriage and menopause were both well covered although overall this is still a warm and lighthearted read.

A story of match making, realisation and reawakening. Port Willow a village by the sea in Scotland people seem to run away to Port Willow, Nina gets sent there by her New York company after a break up with her boss. Sad and dejected she searches for the next big thing but instead finds out what is really important in life. Keeps you interested throughout with a crafting feeling.

It was lovely being back in the village of Port Willow and reading about familiar characters. Beatrice is quite annoying in this book but apart from that it was a lovely story to read.

Another wonderful and heartwarming book from Kiley Dunbar. I haven’t read the first book in this series, but that doesn’t detract from the story at all as the characters are well written and believable (having said that, I will be buying the first book as I absolutely fell in love with Port Willow and it’s gorgeous residents!) . It is a story of heartbreak, running away, new beginnings, life and love after children have left home and village life. Simply wonderful.
There is mention of miscarriage in this book, if this is an issue for you. However, the thread of the story I was particularly pleased to read was Ruth and her struggle with the menopause, something you rarely read about in a novel, let alone anywhere else, and I thought that Kiley did a great job of describing how it can feel to be menopausal, feeling overlooked, unloved, unimportant and invisible as well as the well know hot flushes and those ‘rages!’
Highly recommended. I hope we will be treated to another visit to Port Willow - I’m sure Gene has a story to be told (just saying Kiley 😉……)

This book is a delightful way to spend a few hours just daydreaming and drifting away. I started reading it intending to just catch a couple of chapters but before I knew it four hours had disappeared. This is one of those books you don’t want to end because it’s such a beautiful way to spend time. Buy this book as soon as it comes out and you will be transported to a little oasis of calm and romance. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

I loved this book! It's the second in the series but can easily be read as a stand-alone (although I'm immediately going to buy the first one b/c I enjoyed this one so much).

The author calls this book her "sweet and sentimental story about love after loss". Trigger warning for miscarriage. It was handled very gently but I still want to give people a heads up about it.

Loved the menopause rep in this book!!!!

Usually in an ensemble book there's a set of characters that I don't care about but in this book I loved them all.
