Advance Praise

"What an enjoyable story! It reminds me of classic fantasy/adventure novels (although significantly more accessible to modern readers, of course.) Wonderful characters and incredible imagination abound! I stayed up three or four hours past bedtime to finish it, and can't wait to read Book 2! Highly recommended.

This book is choc full of nonstop action and lovable characters.

It ends on a crazy cliff hanger that leaves you wishing you had more.

Loved it!

I am an avid reader and really enjoy stories that are not only exciting, but ones whose grammar and punctuation are spot on. Too many times I have not finished a book as it did not grab me or the grammar and punctuation were terrible. Looking forward to the next one"

David Bishop is a teenage orphan who runs away from his orphanage after a terrible accident happens. He finds himself transported into a whole other world with magic, ancient prophecies and royal intrigue. He discovers a hollowed out tree with a glowing light emanating from it. He feels drawn to the light and reaches out to touch it and a liquid substance engulfs his entire body and then his world goes dark. He is discovered by a girl his own age named Erin. She realizes David has a strange tattoo on his hand that looks exactly like the legendary Orb that no one can touch or unite with except the destined warrior of the Mystic of Creation prophecy.

The Kingdom of Eldergate is under attack by the Kings own trusted General, General Krauss. Krauss somehow has the possession of Black Magic and is using it to create an army of the undead to help him release the Defiant One from the Dark Abyss where he was sealed away at the end of the Mystic Wars. David soon realizes that maybe he is here for a reason. Maybe he is the one spoken of in the prophecy but how can that be? He is just an orphan. A nobody.

Thoughts
David Bishop and the Legend of the Orb is the first part in a two part series by T.C. Crawford. This is an epic fantasy adventure series that takes place in a unique fantasy world. I was given a copy by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I wouldn't say it is the best fantasy story I have ever read and it felt very similar to the back story of Wheel of Times with a sprinkle of LOTR which is not a bad thing per say it just did not feel very original. The plot archetype was definitely the underdog hero trying to overcome the monster/villain with an added call to adventure which is always fun for me. The world building was not that intricate but I absolutely loved all the characters which is huge for me when I am reading a book.

I enjoyed this book. It was a fun quick read where I was able to escape into a different world for a bit. Give me a quest filled adventure, ancient elves, magical mages with a side of an evil villain who spins black magic and I am like a kid in a candy shop! If you want a fun read with magic, royal intrigue, an underdog hero and a nod to LOTR I would recommend this book. I will definitely be reading the sequel when it comes out.
