Description
My name is Ian Memmer, and I've been keeping something from my best friend Summer Quinn for years. I'm in love with her. She breaks my heart over and over, day after day, but I love her. We grew up next door to one another. She's kind and beautifully broken, and she has no idea how I feel. Because of her depression, and since she never showed any signs she felt the same, I've kept silent. Tormented. Wanting her. Becoming the playboy everyone views. I'm her rock. She needs me. I fear she's keeping secrets from me, too. Then a passionate moment between us changes everything, gives me hope. Yet the guy she's been dating wants to take their relationship to the next level. If I don't make a move soon, I could lose her. But telling her the truth could rip us apart forever.

A compelling read that I couldn't put down. I read it in one sitting and found it both sad and heart warming. Charcaters are very relatable. I enjoyed it.

This book was sent to me electronically for review from Netgalley…quirky likable characters in a story about love and friendship..secrets…intrigue…a mom returns…best friends…love the setting in South Carolina…what will happen next? It is somewhat problematics having different voices and different times…confiding…fun story to read though…

Summer's Road is an original and emotional story about Summer, who is no stranger to grief and loss. She was raised by her father her whole life after her mother left. Besides her father, the only other constants in her life were her friends, Ian and Rick, and later on, Dee. This story is equally about friendship as it is about love. It is about the family you choose and not just the one you are born into, and it is about fighting and persevering when days are tough.
Summer and Ian have been best friends for pretty much forever. Somewhere along the way, Ian's feelings for Summer turned into so much more, but he is afraid to let her know and scare her or ruin their friendship in any way. Summer turns to Ian for everything and he is her rock, but she also sees him as a bit of a playboy and not someone who takes relationships seriously.
There was so much I really liked about this story. I loved the friendship between Ian and Rick and Summer and Dee. I loved how much they all cared for each other and how protective Rick and Ian were of Summer. I really liked how much Summer cared for the children she worked with and how passionate she was about her art programs despite how difficult it was for her emotionally. I adored everything about Ian and Summer. Ian was simply everything, and I loved them together.
I have read several of this author's books and really enjoyed them. I did struggle a little with the format for this one. I was not a fan of the back and forth shifting from past to present. I also felt like the part of the story relating to Summer's mother needed a little bit of further development. For being out of her life for so long, it seemed somewhat unrealistic to me that she moved past it as quickly as she did. Otherwise it was a very engaging and heartfelt story.

Summer's Road will sweep you off your feet. It will make you smile, laugh and cry. You won't want to miss this wonderful story. Another Kelly Moran Book, one I could not put down and devoured in one sitting. I absolutely recommend this book. Be ready for an afternoon or evening of completely neglecting any chores as this one will have you hooked within the first chapter.
