Description

A struggling attorney with an impossible assignment. Will probing into a community deep in mourning bring out the truth… or set anger ablaze?

Jack Adams longs to return to the fray. Fresh from a bar suspension, the struggling lawyer is acutely aware he can’t afford to make any more bad judgments. But his first case back is a tragic family murder-suicide… and the facts don’t add up.

Certain the wrongful death accusations aren’t what they seem, Adams pulls on every thread he can muster. But with surviving relatives immersed in grief and someone among the bereaved hiding a deadly secret, he worries justice and his career will be buried alongside the bodies.

Can the determined man unearth the dark reality behind a horrific loss of life?

All We Hold Dear is the page-turning second book in the Jack Adams legal thriller series. If you like dogged heroes, dramas that extend beyond the courtroom, and tautly plotted stories, then you’ll love Nick Nichols’s visceral rollercoaster.

A Legal, fast paced thriller, involving two opposing cases from the same family. It seems a man has killed his wife, daughter, and then committed suicide, while burning his house down. As the lawyer tries to bring secrets to the surface, he uncovers what really happened.

ALL WE HOLD DEAR is the second in the Jack Adams Series, about the [temporarily] debarred Atlanta attorney who committed a gross error of judgment and was disallowed from the Bar for six months. Eager to return to practice, Jack is tapped for a seemingly routine probate case of a recent double-murder/suicide/arson. Routine it is not; Jack might more profitably have thrust his hand into a nest of venomous vipers. At least then the danger would be easily recognizable.

A truly killer denouement blows the reader's mind concluding a suspenseful build up as the case twists and turns and no one is truthful. Jack qualifies for Feckless Hero, as his innocent nature continues to shine through.

The only thing I didn’t like about this book was it’s length - too short! I love this protagonist and the author does a great job of keeping the pace moving without compromising all important development of relationships.

Jack Adams is returning to the law after a six month hiatus when he was disbarred after an affair with a client. His friend Mike hires him to handle an estate after a murder-suicide. It all appears pretty straight forward…

This story grabs you from the start and won’t let you go until the end. I thoroughly enjoyed it and my only complaint was that it was way too short. Most engaging.

I enjoyed this book. It was my first legal thriller, and I thought it was really well written. The story was much shorter than what I’ve read in terms of previous thrillers, but that didn’t diminish the quality of the story. Jack is assigned to determine what happened in a tragic case of a murder-suicide arson. After coming off a brief legal disbarment for a bad misjudgment, he is determined to do things right and by the book. While fairly predictable at times, I thought the story was well executed. I enjoyed the classic whodunnit writing style, and was satisfied with the end result. Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC. All opinions on this book are my own.
