I enjoyed the the beautiful illustrations and the unexpected surprise at the end showing a sweet and unlikely friendship.

An adorable tale about a rabbit going to see his sick friend with a picnic basket filled with treats. Along the way, he encounters some trouble and some troublesome fellow animals. I think this is a cute book for not only the little ones, but also for the adults.

Hmmm... The way this escalated through repeated beats of the story, I think I expected something a bit more spectacular. Mortimer wanted to have a picnic with his friend Oggy, but when Oggy sends word that he's too ill for it Mortimer decides he'll take the picnic to him – but at every step of the journey someone demands some of the food, and tags along. But it doesn't really do anything with that accumulation of characters – although if I were to ask them they'd disagree, I'm sure. Still, nice to see a story where a sensible response to someone being ill is allowed to be seen, and not a screeching lesson in lockdowns. Three and a half stars, perhaps.

True friends will do whatever it takes to help you. This story is a funny example of exactly how far sometimes that means going. Very funny.

What an adorable story with a surprising ending! Kids will appreciate the adventure Mortimer goes on and wonder how he is going to survive his trip to visit his best friend. Meeting others who steal parts of his picnic is awful besides which Mortimer is not having fun.
Wonderful way to express how best friends take care of each other!

Beautiful illustrations and a fast paced story. I liked what lengths Mortimer would go to to help his best friend. It might be a little scary for younger or sensitive kids.

A very cute story that's slightly reminiscent of Little Red Riding Hood. Mortimer rabbit want's to go on a picnic with his best friend Oggy, and then he finds out Oggy is sick. However, this doesn't deter Mortimer from his plans of having a picnic, it just changes them a little. So he sets out with basket in hand ready to go to the aid of his dear friend, and before you know it he runs into a little hiccup. Once again this doesn't deter Mortimer and before long he's back on track, basket still in hand, determined to be there for Oggy. Moving forward he keeps finding himself running into one spot of trouble after another, but Mortimer is persistent, and he faces down one problem after another, even though he's losing one piece of his picnic at a time while overcoming his troubles. And then finally, Mortimer makes it to his friend Oggy, and this is where you'll have to read the book, to find out the rest of the story. I highly recommend this book as a great addition to any family's library. Happy Reading!

I thought that this children's book was a delightful read full of beautiful and eye-catching illustrations. Essentially, this book is about Mortimer and his best friend Oggy. Mortimer wants to have a picnic, but Oggy is ill. Mortimer goes on a journey to take the picnic to his friend and faces some obstacles such as a crocodile and a wolf. They want to take the picnic! It's pretty sweet, reminiscent of other similar nostalgic childhood tales. Illustrations are nice to look at as well. Would be great for a read aloud for bedtime.

Full of mishaps and misfortune, little Mortimer decided to take a picnic to his best friend since he's too sick to go to him as planned. Along the way, Mortimer meets some hungry animals. Being kind, Mortimer invites them along, but they want more than the picnic.
This book will teach children about the dangers of strangers and have children shouting to Mortimer to watch out. A fun illustrated read.

This is a cute little story with great, soft illustrations. It reminded me a lot of Little Red Riding Hood. The power of friendship can help you be brave through any scary situation.
