Description

Our world is wonderful, and it’s up to us to take care of it. You may feel small, but your actions can make a big difference. It's a Wonderful World (publishing April 19, 2022; 9780744050189; $16.99) encourages children to take care of the planet, but it doesn’t just focus on the problems—it teaches them proper practical solutions to the issues facing our world today.

Veterinarian, author, and TV host Jess French guides kids through taking care of our planet, from living a sustainable lifestyle to using their voice in politics. Unlike many books about the environment, Jess not only covers how to take care of plants and animals, but also the positive contribution that humans can make on each other’s lives, too. Strong themes of self-care and mindfulness run through the book, and kids are introduced to activism. Discover how to reduce your carbon footprint, understand the importance of preserving our forests, oceans, and endangered animals, and learn the best ways to stand up for what you believe in.

Bright, cool illustrations by Aleesha Nandhra combine with photography to create vibrant, engaging spreads, and Jess French’s encouraging and instructive text empowers kids to look after the environment, themselves, and each other. This is the perfect book to show children that being kind to each other and working together is the best way to start protecting the planet.

Great nonfiction book for little environmentalists! Wonderfully illustrated and informative. The text is interesting and just enough to be digestible for children. If you liked What a Waste, you'll enjoy this one too.

My daughter is only three so I think we are a little bit below the are range for this book, but it was still very engaging for her to look at all of the pictures and ask questions. Can we go to another planet? How does rain work? Are these mushrooms like the ones in the backyard? Is it ok to step on moss? (Thankfully the book knows the answers to these questions even if I don't!). Ideas about conservation came up much earlier in parenting than I thought they would (e.g. why we can't just leave all the lights on all the time), so having some books to back up these ideas helps!

Thank you to Jess French, DK Children, and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this free e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

This is a great encyclopedia of sorts. It’s explains cycles in the world. Whether it’s animals, insects, or the ocean. The information is endless without being overwhelmed. Filled with colorful images and hilighted information on each topic. I’m sure every read your child will understand something new!

This book is a great addition to your J Non-Fiction collection or for kids who enjoy learning. The subjects range from our solar system to animal migrations and everything in between. Each page is colorful and broken up with pictures and illustrations that help to convey the point, without being too wordy, which helped to keep me interested. From a kid’s perspective, I think this also makes it a home run!

What a great introductory book for kids who love learning or are curious. It has just the right amount of breadth and depth. The way the information was conveyed was concise but also informative. The illustrations were very eye catching which also helped to keep it interesting. This is a good one!

DK does it again! Excellent tool for adults to share with children to learn about the earth and what ecology and preservation is all about and how to get involved. The presentation and illustrations/photos are the usual fine quality. Can't wait to get a print copy to share!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book copy from DK/DK Children via NetGalley. Thank you!

This is a great informative book about all kinds of topics relating to our planet. Each page is filled with colorful photographs or informative charts, and there's a lot to learn here and inspire budding scientists. I think this would be great for older elementary and middle-grade students.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy.

I absolutely LOVE this book! The images are so vibrant and the text is easy to read for children. It encompasses so many different aspects of earth and its environment. It also covers many of our science learning standards so would be a perfect resource for my third grade classroom! Thank you for the opportunity to preview this book!

Chock-full of facts on the environment with conservation activities throughout! This book has some very engaging photos and a wide array of information on planet Earth. It never delves deep on any specific biome, just addresses most major characteristics in a 2 page spread. Recommended for collections that serve elementary age students who like broad non-fiction titles.

This is a gorgeous book, one that should be in every classroom! You learn about life here on Earth, mostly animals and biomes, but plants are included. The pictures are beautiful, it's colorful and fun to read, and this teacher learned information reading it. I will be purchasing a few copies for my classroom. This will tie in lovely with our science standards. I liked how you learned about life on Earth, but with an environmental focus. I think kids need to start learning how to take care of our planet at a young age. What a wonderful book!

Living in Alaska where wildlife is frequently as close as our own front yards, I found this book an informative read. It's fascinating and I'm smugly glad to have been successful in making myself wait until Earth Day, today as I type, to post a review. While the target audience seems to be perhaps middle school, it is a wonderful addition to anyone's library no matter what their age. Younger children might not be able to grasp all the words but interaction with a parent or other adult as they look at the photos and discuss what they are seeing opens it up to all ages. An easy read with many colorful illustrations and graphics, it breaks down huge chunks of information into easily digested, understood bites for the reader, no matter your age.

I also particularly liked that in the midst of the info sharing, the author (and illustrator Aleesha Nandhra) remind us to take the time to not just watch but really enjoy such everyday events as a sunrise or sunset. Preservation is emphasized but so, too, is to simply enjoy the wonders of nature while marveling at its intricacies and interconnections. Having been fortunate enough to glimpse an abundance of wildlife on a glacier tour, think the ice sheet section, I could appreciate seeing a glacier bear live even more now. It was also intriguing to be reminded of the life going on beneath or feet, too, as well as why different species adapted to different environments and how.

Bottom line, a wonderful book for our wonderful world. Thank you #NetGalley and #DK - #DKChildren for inviting me on your lovely, colorful tour of our wonderful world.

This is a gorgeous reference book about our planet and how we can support our world. It has beautiful pictures of all the different habitats our world holds. The book is full of information, facts, and tips to help our planet thrive. I love books like this for kids because they don't need to read them cover to cover, they can pick up a page here or there and flip around as much as they'd like. This would be such a great support in a language arts classroom as well as a science classroom. This book also offers tips and ways we can help the planet without being overly self righteous towards the children reading it! Just explains a few simple tips people can follow, like mowing the lawn less frequently and choosing wild fish to eat when you're at the grocery store. For every tip the book suggests there is also an explanation.
I had a little trouble reading this as an ebook because it has so much information along with pictures which is difficult to read on an electronic device. I wanted to read it with my 5 year old but it was hard for her to focus on the screen. If this has been a hard copy I know she would have loved it! This book had the answer to so many of the questions she is always bombarding me with! Questions about animals, water sources, our planet and galaxy, habitats, the list goes on and on.
Thanks to #Netgalley and #DK for giving me a sneak peek at this title, I can't wait to see the book in print in May!

Fascinating, informative and beautifully illustrated book about our world and all the different types of habitats and creatures that inhabit it. Very easy to understand and follow along, though I would definitely recommend for ages 5-8 where they have a better grasp at certain concepts. I love that it was also full of information as to protecting the planet and helping it thrive for all of its living creatures. Would definitely recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley and DK Children for the opportunity to read this book early!

There is an amazing amount of information packed into this little book!

I was approved for an advance read copy via NetGalley. I decided to purchase the release copy and will be gifting it to my niece and nephew.

The focus is for youngsters, and provides details to draw children in and want to explore serious topics further. A great mix of photos and drawings. I like the interesting facts, many that I did not know.

I’ve been reading (and taking classes) about climate change. This is probably the best book I’ve seen for youngsters.

I purchased a copy after seeing the advance read. Not sure if there could be a better way to say how much I liked It’s A Wonderful World by Jess French.
