Description

Fantastically funny, wise and charming motherhood sketches from award-winning illustrator Polly Dunbar.

'Tender, funny, sometimes heartbreaking snapshots of motherhood.' —Shappi Khorsandi

'Go away, I'm busy writing about the beauty of motherhood.'

Polly Dunbar is an award-winning illustrator who usually draws for children rather than adults, but when she had her own sons, she started recording the beautiful and maddening moments of parenthood with a doodle.

Hello, Mum is her visual diary of the magical highs and absurd lows that many parents will recognize - from the shock and awe of the baby days to the delight (and terror) of the toddler years and the mayhem of sibling rivalry. Dunbar's fantastically funny, wise, and enchanting drawings capture this precious and fleeting time with heart-touching perfection.

Author bio:

Polly Dunbar is one of the most popular illustrators working in the UK today. Her bestselling book, Penguin, won numerous awards including the BookTrust Early Years Award, the Nestle Silver Children's Book Prize, and the Red House Children's Book of the Year Award, and was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal. She was also chosen as one of BookTrust's Ten Best illustrators.

Polly has illustrated books by David Almond, Michael Morpurgo, and her mother, Joyce Dunbar. She is also the illustrator of The Hug and While We Can't Hug, written by Eoin McLaughlin and published by Faber. She created Tilly and Friends, now an animated series on CBeebies, and many of her other stories have been adapted for the stage. She is also co-founder of Long Nose Puppets, an award-winning theatre company. She lives in the Waveney Valley, Suffolk, with her family.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read in exchange for an honest review.

This is the perfect depiction of motherhood. I laughed and cried many times when reading because it was so accurate! There were some pictures that I found difficult to understand the text - hopefully this will be easier in print and not on a screen.

Hello, Mom perfectly captures the charming and realistic moments of parenthood. Being a new parent, the comics were very easy to relate to.
