Tess is a widowed bookshop owner who is struggling to move on years after her husbands unexpected death. Everyone thinks she should be out dating again, but she still doesn’t feel ready yet. At the beginning of the book River wanders into her bookshop needing help, and we soon find out why Tess hates him and has no desire to help him. River used to be Tess’ late husbands best friend -until they had a falling out. River is a former marine turned Private Investigator, a real loner. As the book progresses Tess finds herself wanting answers to some questions that arise about her late husband, and it becomes clear that River is the one who can help her get those answers. As they work together Tess has to question everything she thought she knew about the past. This was a wonderful romance with an interesting mystery. I love the town of Somerset Lake, and it was great getting to know Tess better, while also catching up with previous characters from other books in the series. Another great book from Annie Rains! I received an ARC from netgalley, and this is my honest review.

Thank you for reaching out to me and allowing me to read and review this Wonderful story. By the way, it was that good that I started it one morning and finished it that evening. Tess and Rivers story really touched my heart in so many ways. They go through quite the journey to reach their destiny but what a journey it is. I. Afraid to say too much as I don’t want to ruin their journey. So I will just say it’s one of the best stories I’ve read. So don’t miss this story. I promise you will love it.

Annie Rains has once again written a beautiful, emotional, magical, romantic masterpiece. I knew from book 1 of the Somerset series that Tess would have an amazing story but this was even better than my expectations. Beautiful writing, an amazing storyline, phenomenal characters who are easy to connect with and a realistic plot. This is a story that you'll not only want to read but you should read. Though it is part of a series it can be read alone.

Ted's Lane has been managing the bookstore that she owns in Somerset Lake and absolutely loving it since her husband's passing a few years ago. She is content spending time growing her business versus dating like her mother and some of her friends would like to see her do.

Then her least favorite person falls back into her life in an unexpected way and she is forced to make some decisions that unfortunately involved that same man, the man that nearly prevented her marriage. That person is River Harrison her husband's former best friend and military buddy. And the person who helps her solve the mystery behind her husband's death.

I was given an ARC for an honest review of this novel.

Right from the start my attention was grabbed and it made me wish I could stay up reading more of Tess and River's story but unfortunately I had to work in the morning so that was out of the question. Then the emotional rollercoaster truly began once I was able to begin again and man I did not want to put it down! This book gave me all the feels and I can't wait to read what Annie Rains writes next!

Thank you to the publisher for my review copy. All opinions are my own.

I swear, everytime I finish Annie Rains newest book I think to myself. I am so completely charmed that I can not stop smiling. The True Love Bookshop continues the streak. I absolutely adored this title.

Maybe it is the bookshop background.
Maybe it is Tess and River's story.
Maybe it is early Summer in Somerset Lake.
Maybe it is that Annie reaches inside my soul in every story and forces (lol) me to fall in love with them all. (okay, okay. Yes, I am a willing victim)

Let's be honest. It is all of these things. I wholeheartedly fell in love with River and Tess. I mean. Fell. In. Love. This story. I think it is my favorite. It was so raw and real....but yet, we of course get the Happy Ever After we need from Annie's Somerset Lake series.

I can not recommend this title enough. If you love HEA. Sweet romance. Small town romance. Bookshops. Pick this one up. You don't have to read the prior two books in the series. Although, you know what I'm going to say. You should. Sincerely.

Tess Lane, owns Lakeside Books and has a book club on Thursday nights. She is a widow and this helps her get through the pain. River used to be her husband's best friend, but they had a falling out. River is back in town and had been out camping and injured himself. He only made it back to the bookstore and Tess told him to leave. He stumbled and Tess accused him of being drunk. She soon discovered he was bleeding and ended up calling 911. She wanted nothing to do with River, but life has its own way of doing things, and she finds she is taking care of his dog while River is in the hospital.
River told her she would have to go to his house and get the dog's chew toys and his blanket. While she was there, she saw a picture of her late husband with River and a woman. Her husband had his arm around her, looking at her. River was now a PI and Tess wanted to hire him to find out why her husband died in a car crash in a town, 2 hours away, she had never heard of. River had started to investigate him for his own questions and didn't really want to do it for Tess. He finally agreed, and he kept asking her if she really wanted to know because once she did, there was no undoing what she found out.
It is life and once you start something you have to ride it out to see what happens and that is what she had to do. Her little bookstore was so welcoming, and she decided to take a chance and invite her favorite author who wrote a book about grief to do a book signing at her store. I won't tell you what happened, but it was nice seeing her find the courage to ask.
Anne Rains writes with her heart and her soul, she makes me feel like I am right there with them in the story, and it has everything that would happen in life. That makes a wonderful read for me.
I received an ARC from Forever through NetGalley.
