Description

Ben hears noises in his basement and witnesses weird goings-on in his local park. His eight-year-old daughter Imogen starts receiving messages from someone claiming to be her missing mother. And then there is Mr Jones -the man who haunts the imaginations of the children at Imogen's school. But they are just stories, surely? Ben soon develops a creeping suspicion that someone is out to kidnap his daughter. Are his fears real or a result of his own stress-induced paranoia?

Alex Woolf's psychological thriller explores loss, fear and an overwhelming desire to keep those we love safe from harm.

When I saw the cover I knew I HAD to read this book! I was not disappointed! This is one of those books where you’re lounging in bed in the morning and then the thought “Mr. Jones” pops into your head and suddenly you’re excitedly getting up to get back to he story. Mr. Jones does not want his story told. If you tell, then he will take the one you love the most. In the past year Ben’s wife Susan and Amy’s daughter Stephanie have both disappeared without a trace. Ben’s daughter Midge tells him that they both live in an invisible world with a mysterious Mr. Jones. Creepiness ensues and the reader is constantly torn between trust and distrust of the main characters and never even if Mr. Jones is real, and if he is, is he even actually involved in the foul play or does he even know who or what he actually is. Who can you trust? Can you trust you parent, your friend, yourself?
I highly recommend this book. Plenty of twists and creepy moments with no senseless gore or torture. Thank you #netgalley mad #IndieNovella for allowing me to read #MrJones. Well done, #AlexWoolf

First, Ben's wife disappears. Then Amy's daughter. And then, some joker in a panda mask leads Ben's daughter, Imogene, into believing that her disappeared mother is contacting her. Who is this 'Mr. Jones'?
I was so surprised by this awesome book I'm telling everyone about it. I love horror novels, and I love thrillers. This book is the best of both worlds. From the very first chapter I was wrapped. It kept me guessing and it kept me shivering at the same time, LOL.

After his wife disappeared 10 months ago, Benjamin is slowly adjusting to life as a single dad to his young daughter, Imogen. While Ben struggles to make sense of the disappearance, a strange figure in a panda mask starts harassing little girls.

This novella had everything I wanted; it was chilling and mysterious and addictive. Every time I thought I had it figured out, Woolf told me he knew what I was thinking and that ain’t it! The author leads the reader along brilliantly. And Ben! I love books where you can see a character’s mentality shifting not just through the storyline but through the writing style as well.

Thriller x Psychological & Paranormal x Novella

QUOTES:
- It’s a cruel universe that snuffs out a life at random and then presents it as a mystery to be solved.
