Description

It was supposed to be the happiest day of her life when her kidnapped daughter returned, but it wasn’t.

Fourteen years ago, Clarissa Smalls was born, and a few hours later, she was taken from the hospital. Kidnapped. Her mother searched desperately for her for years, but she never found her.

Until now.

When Clarissa Smalls is suddenly found in the swamps of central Florida, badly bruised and confused, it causes much joy and celebration in her family, especially with her mother, who has waited fourteen years to see her baby girl again. Little did she know that this day would end up being the worst in her life. Because Clarissa doesn’t want to know about her mother, she refuses to talk to anyone and won’t tell the police what happened to her.

When another baby girl is kidnapped from the same hospital, in the same manner, the police believe it’s the same kidnapper that took Clarissa. Suddenly, time is of the essence to make her answer the many questions that are piling up.

Where was she for fourteen years?

Who took her?

Why won’t she tell them who her kidnapper is?

The FBI brings in former profiler Eva Rae Thomas to help them in this peculiar case. Eva Rae Thomas knows the girl’s mother very well and is willing to go to great lengths to help her out, even though the two of them share an unpleasant history. In addition, Eva Rae's sister recently came back into her life after being kidnapped thirty-five years ago, so the FBI hopes that she can contribute with a deeper understanding of the situation and maybe get through to Clarissa.

Little could she have known that soon she would wish that she never got involved in this, as the case becomes very personal for her.

It was supposed to be the happiest day of her life when her kidnapped daughter returned, but it wasn’t.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wow...just wow

I have read the whole series and loved them all and this one is no exception. It has all you have come to expect from Eva Rae and then some. This story has lots of twists and turns.... most of which you’ll never see coming! And the ending....all I can say is ‘WOW’. The story pulls you in and keeps you so enthralled that before you know it hours have past and you’re over half way thru the book. Great story and you should definitely read this!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️  Another great thriller; well done, Ms. Rose!!

Stirring up memories of her sister being abducted 35 years ago and only recently showing up alive, Eva Rae is assigned to a 14-year-old-case of Clarissa Smalls, who was kidnapped from a maternity ward and mysteriously shows up in a swamp, pregnant, and unwilling to talk with anyone about her ordeal. Eva Rae feels that she is the only one who can get through to the girl and help solve the case. At the same time, another newborn girl is kidnapped from the same maternity ward. This baby needs heart surgery, so the pressure is on to find her quickly. Eva Rae, as always, is passionately involved in the cases, and keeps digging, to the point that she becomes a target as the perp tries to foil the search. Ms. Rose is a master at creating twists and turns, red herrings and surprises into a thrilling story that keeps me on the set of my chair, losing sleep, not wanting to put the book down until the case is solved. This is a great series, with strong characters and multiple story lines woven together skillfully to keep the reader’s interest. I have read all of this series and thoroughly enjoyed each book - you really have to try this author’s work. I received an ARC - this review is my honest opinion - and I purchased a copy to support this great writer.

This was a really good thriller/mystery. It's definitely more on the side of a mystery though, so if you're looking to get your heart beating in fear, this is not the book for you. On the other hand, if you want a good mystery with intertwined plotlines, this is for you.

It was hard to keep track of all the characters and plot in the beginning and I had to reread certain chapters to remind myself of which family experienced what. But after I finished the novel, I realized the importance of all characters so it balances out. I was actually pretty impressed by the way all the characters and the plots came together in the end. And the twist at the end where the truth was revealed was good and surprised me. I didn't expect the ending at all.

I also recently realized this is book 10 of a series, so if you want more, check out the other books in the series.

I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Another hit from Willow Rose. You’ll be guessing throughout, the ending will leave you shocked.

Little Did She Know by Willow Rose is a highly intriguing mystery novel featuring Federal Bureau of Investigation profiler Eva Rae Thomas. This novel makes an interesting stand-alone read even though it is the tenth in this series. The sister of Eva Rea disappeared thirty years ago and returned to her family. Therefore, Eva Rea has compassion for families who suffer the same trauma. How can you cope with the pain when your newborn baby disappears just hours after birth?

A Florida mother, Linda, bakes a cake for her daughter every year on this day. Although fourteen years have passed, Linda never loses hope Clarissa will return home safely. Linda even keeps some cake in the fridge, hoping that Clarissa might return.

In the meantime, fifteen-year-old Sierra Holmes is giving birth to a baby girl called Desiree at Health First Cape Canaveral Hospital in Florida. Sadly, the baby needs an urgent operation because of a heart defect. When a nurse came to fetch Desiree for some tests, Sierra was not suspicious. No one saw the nurse or Desiree again.

Little Did She Know is an enjoyable, fast-paced mystery novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat from the very first page. It was emotional, and I was eager to discover what would happen next. I will recommend this book to a mature audience who could appreciate a parent’s experience, even without the traumatic events. It was easy to feel Linda’s anxiety and years of longing and anger. It is impossible to say anything negative about this book. Also exceptionally well-edited and, therefore, I could only rate this book five out of five stars. Very well done.

Sierra Holmes is just fifteen when she gives birth to her daughter, Desiree. Sierra was a straight A student and all around good girl so it was shocking when she ended up with a teen pregnancy. The father left town and didn’t even leave a forwarding address so Sierra was on her own. He didn’t want the baby. While at the hospital, a nurse takes the baby for a test and disappears with her. Baby Desiree has a rare heart condition and needs surgery so the race is on to find her fast.

Linda Smalls has a small son named Trent but she had a daughter, Clarissa that disappeared 14 years ago from the same hospital that Desiree went missing from. When Clarissa suddenly is found, the police need her help in locating Desiree. Clarissa was called Cate by her captor. She’s 14 and pregnant but she’s not giving the police any information about where she’s been all this time.

FBI profiler Eva Rae Thomas is asked to talk to Clarissa. She had a run in with Linda over Trent tripping her son Alex in soccer. Linda isn’t happy that she is handling the case but since she’s the best profiler around she allows it.

Alex Huxley is from the Washington Post in DC and has worked with Eva in the past. He’s always after a story and soon latches onto this one.

We also learn about Amelia and Ron who are new parents to baby Anna. After going to bed and forgetting to lock the back door, they awake to Anna missing. Amelia is a policewoman but is on maternity leave when Anna goes missing. What does their missing baby have to do with this? Will baby Desiree be found in time?

This is my first book by this author. I haven’t read the other books in the series but I was able to follow along. I thought the story was good and look forward to reading more in the series.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Willow Rose creates another fast paced, page turner in Little Did She Know. Per usual, with her writing, you're drawn into the story right from the beginning! This book was a bit different than others, that I've read, because many of the characters weren't very likeable. For example: Ex boyfriend, Matt, seems to have turned into a self-absorbed jerk and the "main" victim is a know-it-all bully throughout most of the book. There's even an egotistical, negligent cop thrown into the mix. But Eva does the job with her usual care and professionalism.
Over 14 years ago, shortly after she was born, Clarissa was kidnapped from the hospital where she was born. Linda, her mom, has been searching for her ever since. So, being reunited with her kidnapped daughter should have been one of the happiest days of her life but it isn’t. Clarissa appears not to want anything to do with her mom and she absolutely will not talk to anyone, including the police.
Then another baby is abducted from that very hospital, again. Since the authorities are sure that they're looking for the same person who abducted Clarissa, they're desperate for her to answer their questions. So, they bring in former profiler, Eva Rae Thomas. Unfortunately, she's familiar with Clarissa's mom. Despite Linda being a bully, Eva is willing to help out. Especially since it could mean life or death for the missing baby.

This is one of the best mysteries I've read lately. Fast placed and just confusing enough to keep me going. I was getting a little frustrated with the chapters titled "Then" because I couldn't figure out what it was referring to. It was a great ending! I will definitely read more from this author..

This is a really good read. I did get a little confused with the skipping back and forth between two babies being kidnapped and missed an important point. This is one mystery I didn't find easy to figure out.
I enjoyed the story very much and the central character, FBI agent Eva Rae Thomas, is all around excellent. An officer, a mother, human, smart, tough and fallible. I want to read more.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for my advanced reader's copy. This is my own personal opinion.

I love this series and this book did not disappoint me….. I’ve again Eva Rae puts her own chaotic life on hold , this time for a child who was kidnapped as an infant and has now been found as a teenager in a swamp. Eva Rae must battle time as a new infant is now missing and they think is a replacement for the now teenage child. As always Eva Rae takes things into her own hands to solve the mystery and save the day. This story shows a new possibility for romance in future books…..can’t wait to read the next instalment

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley, all opinions are my own.

I would recommend this book to friends and my book club

This book was sent to me by Netgalley electronically for review. I liked this book. However, I had a difficult time keeping up with the sequence of events, the plot. I could not discern if there had been one child stolen, two children, or even three. This was so confusing for me that I had to stop reading at times. I did persevere to the end, and the story did all come together in a timely fashion. However, there must be some way to write this book without so much confusion. That being said, this author is talented and gifted in writing this book, unique actually...different...not the norm...and totally fantastic in weaving such a story that does finally come together...enjoy this one.

This was the first book in the series that I have read, however it is actually the tenth book in the Eva Rae series. I really wish that Netgalley would disclose this information in the descriptions, however I understand why they don’t for requesting purposes. That being said, I really enjoyed this book. It was a very quick read that I read in one sitting. There are many characters and simultaneous stories being told, however they all come together in the end. I did not have a hard time following along at all.

First things First, thanks NetGalley for providing me an ARC copy of this book.

Another thing probably worth stating is that I started this book without knowing that it was part of a series, yet even if I didn't had all the background of the main and other characters I could read it and understand everything. (And of course I’m gonna read all the others as soon as I can)

So, the book follows an ex FBI agent contacted by the police to help with a case of a missing baby taken from a hospital. This baby has a hearth condition and finding it is a task with a ticking clock. But the day that a baby disappeared a teenager was found, a girl that disappeared years ago from the same hospital when she was just a newborn. With an teen unwilling to talk cooperate the task of finding the newborn girl seems impossible yet every possible clue is worth following. As the story moves we realize that the narration is divided between the present and a similar case that Eva had 13 years ago, when a baby was stollen form a house.
The book is easy to follow and fast to read. The need for answers moves the narrative almost on its own. The characters present a mixture of work and home related problems, making them more real to the reeder. A very well written mystery that keeps you constantly on the edge of your sit. A must for everyone who enjoys a good mystery involving detectives, and that could be read in only a few days.

I have been looking for a 5 star read for a few months and have finally found one. This book drew me in right away and was almost impossible to put down. Babies go missing and the book is about the detectives trying to find the missing babies. There were tons of twists and turns and I did not expect it to turn out the way it did. I loved every second of this book. The short chapters made it fast to get through as well. The only negative thing about this book was that it was a little confusing jumping between peoples stories and time frames but this book was still amazing that that didn’t bother me too much. Totally recommend this book to anyone looking for a 5 star thriller.

Eva Rae Thomas Series ✅
FBI / Law Enforcement ✅
Kidnapped Babies ✅
Mystery / Thriller ✅
Twist & Turns ✅

I should start by saying that I have ONLY ever read author Willow Rose’s Eva Rae Thomas series. I was introduced to the author by this very series and have loved all the previous books and this one just WOW, it did not disappoint.

This novel is one that has a fast-paced page turner that draws in the reader and keeps them at the edge of their seat the entire time.

Fourteen years ago a baby went missing. Fourteen years later that baby, now a teen, is found in a swamp. Badly beaten, confused and pregnant. The missing baby, now found teenage girl, Carissa won’t speak to anyone, not telling anyone what happened to her. But now another baby girl is missing. From the same hospital Carissa went missing fourteen years ago no less. The police believe that the cases are connected. Questions are piling, no answers uncovered and now to race against time since the newly kidnapped baby girl is in need of a life saving heart surgery.

The FBI decides to call in former Profiler Eva Rae Thomas. She is the best but she also knows a personal stake in the case. Especially since being reunited with her sister who was kidnapped when they were little girls.

I am very picky about books. I know, I know it's a book and many things are not real life but it's the passion that her character Eva seems to emit into her case, the rush of racing against time, the elements that can hinder a law enforcement official in a case, etc. I can’t praise Willow enough for always being able to captivate my attention and keeping my face buried in a book until the very end. This book could be read as a standalone but because I have read the rest of the series prior to this one, I can understand more of this story line. Like why it's so personal to MC Eva. Without spoiling too much, in another book we get a glimpse on the day Eva’s sister went missing.

Such an entertaining read with a good mystery and engaging plot that I would recommend to other readers.

Wow! I have to say this was my first Willow Rose mystery and I’m still shocked - how did she do that!? I mean it’s all there and completely laid out, no questions out it but I didn’t have the mystery solved until she wanted me to. She’s a genius and I’ll be hunting down more of her work as soon as possible!

Eva, Alex and Walsh hunt down the answers for a girl appeared and a newborn missing. The multiple threads that seem to only be slightly connected are carefully sewn together to reveal a conclusion like no other. I could feel the emotions of the characters - sadness, exhaustion, desperation and the urgency. I could even taste the stake out M&Ms. I finished in one sitting, literally nothing could have made me put this book down.

I highly recommend this book to everyone that enjoys a good thrilling mystery!

Little Did She Know, by Willow Rose. This was a amazing suspenseful book that will have you anxiously flipping each page just to see how the book will end. I have to tip my hat off to Mrs. Willow Rose for writing a well crafted, and mind tingling book that I simply couldn’t put down. Willow brings back FBI’s special profiler Eva Rae, who is a boss in her own right as woman, and a FBI Agent. I was very pleased to read a book were the woman had a powerful leading character role. Eva Rae displayed her smart, intellectual thinking, and her special skills as a profiler, while she fought to stay on her subjects heels, or toe to toe with the subject. I don’t know about you, but I always love a good suspense or thriller book with action that has your mind running on nothing but adrenaline, only to see if the villain gets his just deserts. Eva and her team certainly will give you this satisfaction and then some. As you read the book, the many twist and unpredicted turns will have you trying to piece the story together, which is always the fun part for me. I loved the swift pace of the book. In my opinion, the book is a page turner that reads quickly. The information supplied in certain parts of the book was informative. These details in the book helped me to understand how certain things took place or shape in the book. As I said before, you will like that the story is a page turner. Some moments in the book will have you a little in shock, but that’s to be expected with a suspenseful book. I give this book two snaps and a twist. Until next time my fellow readers… read on!

The quirky FBI profiler Eva Ray Thomas is back. and working on solving a case of a kidnapped baby who turns up 14 years later in a swamp in Florida. This is a convoluted tale involving another infant kidnapping that happened in the same time period and yet another one in the current time. It was interesting revisting Eva Ray and her family dynamics. I have enjoyed this entire series.

I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my own honest opinion.

This book was a compelling, suspenseful, amazing read! I loved the characters, I loved the story. I couldn't read fast enough. Will be on the lookout for more books by Willow Rose.

I simply adore Willow Rose's writing and would have given this 5 stars like I always do for her books, but, honestly, I was so confused with jumping from one character telling the story to another and one time period to another. Most books will specify at the beginning of the chapter. This is frequently done by Ms Rose but was harder to follow along this time.

When a fourteen-year-old kidnapping case victim suddenly appeared, it opened back old wounds and created new ones. Agent Eva was in a race against time when another child was kidnapped the very same way only difference was this child needed emergency surgery.

I started reading this book and I forgot all about my chores of the day and continued reading this book.

It kept me intrigued as it had characters that you could totally picture and you wanted to see how their storyline progressed. There were some twists and turns I did not expect that kept me reading to see what happens next.

I hope really Eva Rae Thomas's story continues.

This book was fast-paced and kept me hooked. Babies who were kidnapped at birth 15 years apart, a range of characters, and a storyline jumping from past to present is a lot to keep track of but this book did it perfectly. I was racing to the end and was shocked when the curveball was thrown.
