Murder is Revealing is the perfect title for this Write Club Mystery book, by Michelle Corbier. In this exciting novel, Dr. Myaisha Douglas’s world is thrown for a loop when a long-time friend is suddenly murdered. Unable to ignore all of the questions surfacing in her mind, Myaisha decides to put on her sleuthing fedora and investigate. It turns out that death can reveal a lot about someone that you think you know well.

Myaisha, a doctor, aspiring writer, and avid mystery fan, soon discovers some unsavory tidbits about her dear friend that she once sincerely trusted. Despite being warned off by the police detectives on the case, Myaisha can’t help but follow her instincts until she finds out the truth—however ugly it is. Myaisha was widowed 5 years prior. But with a little encouragement from her best friend Deniece, she begins to open her heart to a persistent handsome suitor, AJ, who turns out to be more helpful than just as a distraction from the murder case.

This is a very exciting, stimulating, and creative mystery novel with a great storyline. It is an urban mystery, set in Greensboro, North Carolina. Michelle Corbier employs her unique expressive writing style to describe the setting in a most wonderful and vivid manner as to draw the reader into the story with all their senses absorbing every little detail of the surroundings as the mysterious story unfolds. She also carefully writes with the reader in mind and does not leave anything out. She allows the reader entry into Myaisha’s thoughts, the murder victim’s, and that of the other interesting and intriguing characters, such as the murder victim’s spouse and the two detectives working on the case. The writing pace is easy and steady, which kept me glued to the pages from start to finish. Perfectly narrated and conceived, the story is packed with plenty of surprises, twists and uncovering of clues at just the right moments. Myaisha’s character is balanced, smart, laid-back, and likable. Never jumping to conclusions, she is constantly using her spot-on profound observations, medical knowledge, common sense, and her experience from reading mystery novels, along with her Greensboro Women of Color Writing Group club members - to continue to keep her moving forward and lead her to her next clues and steps.

Murder is Revealing contains a determined, intelligent and perceptive main character, a stimulating, thought-provoking and clever plot, and a taste of modern-day adventure that will leave you wanting more. It is a fantastic and well-written Write Club Mystery book. Murder is Revealing will keep you guessing until the end, and of course, like any exceptional and ingenious mystery, the killer (or killers) is never who you think it is.

Murder Is Revealing: Write Club Mysteries by Michelle Corbier is an extraordinary mystery novel and comes highly recommended by Chick Lit Café."

How well do we know our friends? Myaisha would like to write crime novels and when one of her oldest friends is murdered she is keen to find out why and who.... This leads her to find out things that she is not sure she wants to know. I enjoyed this and would recommend it.

I enjoyed reading this debut mystery written in the style of the traditional whoduunit. The central character was interesting and the mystery was fairly well done. It is a breezy read, the kind which is perfect when you want to escape from the world into the pages of a book. Given that this is the author's debut, i am looking forward tonreading more books in the series.

A good mystery thriller that I enjoyed my time with. A new to me author that I discovered and will be reading more from in the future. I normally don’t do cozy mysteries but this was fun to escape with for a little while.

The kind of twisty, jet-fueled mystery thriller that explodes on page one and has you happily abandoning work, sleep, and life as you race to the stunning end. Don't miss it!
