Description

These days it's hard enough to be a witch, but being born a hellfire witch? That's something else entirely and no one knows that better than Melissani. Half witch, half demon she's one of the most powerful creatures in existence. The fire in her soul could kill Lucifer himself. Shame that thanks to her mother said soul now belongs to Leviathan, Crown Prince of Hell.

Once upon a time the two had a thing. Yes, she fell for the demon prince who bought her soul, and despite her better judgment she trusted the bastard. But, of course, he had to mess it up. A broken heart, shattered dreams and, to cap it all off, a missing sister dragged to hell.

Well, what is it they say? Hell has no fury like a hellfire witch betrayed. So buckle up little prince. Hellfire is coming for you.

**I received a copy of this book from Backlit PR and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions are my own and not solicited in any way. **
Rating 3.5/5
The first half was almost great. I was waiting in anticipation for the reveal, and that is where this book, disappoints a little. If you're interested in a very light snarky humorous fast read Fantasy, then maybe this book or just Leviathan is for you.
Pros
World Building 9/10
Antihero hero villain 8/10
I enjoyed Leviathan's snark humor, and he seems to be the only one with a little common sense. His inner monologues are truly enjoyable and what pushed the narrative of this story.
Cons
Melissani - I really couldn't connect with her. In the first quarter, she was powerful, intimidating, and evil, then we get vastly different versions of her throughout.
The side characters are okay, and near the end, some characters are introduced, which I suspect is in some other series of this author, and causes friction to this story, which I think was unnecessary (this is the first series, I have read of this author, so the introduced characters were new to me.)

Thank you to NetGalley, Backlit PR and Nadine Nightingale for this ARC!
I really enjoyed it! I loved the banter between Mel & Levi, and all Levi’s sass. I laughed out loud numerous times to Leviathan’s sarcasm. Incase you can’t tell he was totally my favourite?
This is a fun, easy read filled with lots of action. I enjoyed the perception of hell in it too, especially it’s feature of Hello Kitty! I’m keen to see where the series goes from here… ps. Mel is a total badass.
It was published 27th July 22 so go & check it out!

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC.

This is a middle of the road paranormal romance. I didn't connect with tge characters but other than that, there wasn't anything terribly wrong. However nothing really stood out either.

Hellfire & Pride has one spitfire of a hellfire witch, a sexy demon with a slight superiority complex. a missing sister, an acrimonious break-up and some unresolved sexual tension. This all
blends into an action-packed, humorous, fast-paced adventure that entertained me from start to finish. Whilst this book is linked to a previous series (which I haven't read) by some side characters I had no problems following the story.

I love Mel, she was feisty, determined and strong but also a little vulnerable and perfectly imperfect. Lev was so full of his own importance but somehow managed to stay on the sexy side of arrogant rather than the annoying. The chemistry between the pair was intense, helping to ramp up the tension whilst also providing some lighter moments. As the plot progresses we get to meet a good number of side characters, the more important ones were well fleshed out having distinct and unique personalities.

This is definitely a series I will be continuing with, and not just because it ended on that "gah!" of a cliff-hanger. Good writing, engaging characters and a decent plot also have me wanting to read more of this author's work.

Melissani is half witch, half demon and full bitch. Sure, she didn't start out to be a bitch but these things happen when life keeps kicking you in the teeth. You decide to kick back. Melissani's latest blow is a missing sister, dragged into hell. She knows exactly who is responsible and this time she's not going quietly into the night, she is raining hellfire on all in her way to getting her sister back. "Hell has no fury like a hellfire witch betrayed" and boy, oh boy is Melissani on a warpath. Melissani is on a revenge spree, mass murdering demons to gain information and attention from the man who owns her soul (figuratively and metaphysically). Quite unfortunate the man she believes is responsible is her ex who broke her heart, the Crown Prince of Hell, Leviathan.

Melissani has gone through a metamorphosis and is reborn as a bad bitch that takes no bullshit (which I'm 100% here for it and support her every step of the way). Melissani comes back into Levithian's life explosively which brings up the unresolved feelings they both have. Some of those feelings are hate (well most of the feelings are hate), but some are lust.

Someone is pulling the strings of the most dangerous entities in the world, pulling Melissani and Leviathan back together to find her missing sister. Once their goals are aligned, the action doesn't stop and the chaos increases. They matched each others energy beautifully, with unmatched banter and electric chemistry. Leviathan had an ego the size of a small country and enough pride to sustain the same small country for at least a few centuries. If Leviathan is 'pride' then Melissani is 'prejudice'. Her temper is as incinerary as her hellfire and her bias against demons means she tends to burn them before she gets the answers she needs. She is impulsive and reckless but with her sister on the line, I completely understand the urgency.

The side characters of Berith and Verin were annoying enough to feel like real siblings who will repeatedly tell you every decision you make is a bad one. I had a love/hate relationship with them but I felt that they were necessary and added rational perspectives. Were some of these perspectives a little murdery?? Whose isn't.

Once the story hits the 80% mark there is an influx of new characters that I think are from another series by the same author. It was jarring to say the least. I entered a mini-reunion with no previous knowledge of its participants during the climax of the story. I kept waiting for them to leave again, but these new characters not only stayed but seem to be continuous characters in the following installments.

I also deducted points for the use of 'awesomness'. Where am i? Did I time travel back to 2013??

I'm excited to read the future books and learn more about Melissani and Leviathan's history because I know that it will be juicy.

Melissani is a half hellfire witch and half demon. She is scary powerful. Now she wants revenge for a broken heart. This book is so amazing. It caught my attention right away. The action and the drama kept me turning pages faster and faster. She's witty and strong and that is what I think made her an intriguing main character. I would definitely love to read more by this talented author.
