⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A jaw-dropping sequel to Readers’ Favorite Award Winner of 2021, Isle of Dragons!
L.A. Thompson’s iconic steampunk heroine is back in this richly imaginative quest to find a mysterious magic library that holds the key to winning the war against the corrupt King Jarrod.
Jade and Kaylen, childhood friends turned rivals, now race to find a portal located in an ancient library hidden from mankind for years that will either doom or save their world. To follow the king's orders and regain all she's lost, Kaylen must decide what, and who, she is willing to sacrifice. Can Jade, the dragon-taming witch Miria, and the pragmatic pod inventor Dan race against the clock and stop Kaylen from opening the gateway between realms before it’s too late?
Packed with fast-paced action, Jade’s newest adventure introduces new friends and enemies, and magic obstacles beyond anything Jade has seen before. Hang on tight as mysterious revelations unfold about the Isle of Dragons and its inhabitants.
Fans of Jeff Gunzel’s The Legend of the Gate Keeper series and Cecilia Dominic’s The Art of Piracy will be enthralled with L.A. Thompson’s brilliant and magnetic storytelling.
Thompson’s writing style aptly matches her gift of imagination, and the result is a richly colorful fantasy, full of unexpected surprises and original concepts that establish her stature as an author of substance."

This was another great entry in the Isle of Dragons series, I had enjoyed the first book in the series so I was excited to read the next book in the series. This book improved on the previous book, it had a great plot going on and it does what I wanted the sequel to do. The characters worked in this world and I enjoyed getting to know them. I look forward to more in this series.
"“You know I can’t do that,” Jade said, her voice hardening. Kaylen’s offer caught her off guard, an offer that Jade would have accepted in a heartbeat mere months ago. The king had offered her everything once, as well. A chance to regain her standing, her home. But it was all a lie to manipulate her into helping him fulfill his crusade in opening the gateway."
I like this book just as much as I liked the cover page!
Imagination that can transport us to an other world is, of course, what I enjoy most about a fantasy novel, and this book is successful in doing so.
This is a great story with intriguing characters, sharp language, and thorough descriptions of the place and the events. Each of these components helps to build an engaging universe for readers.
With a heroic quest that sends Jade, our heroine, on a perilous trip to uncover a hidden library in order to fight King Jarrod, the author displays wonderful magical language that draws the reader into a mythical realm.
The narrative as a whole is packed with adventures and puzzles that will send the reader into a wild train of thought and only encourage them to keep going!
A great second book, it kept up the same great steampunk world as the first. Lots of crazy things and people.
I did not read the first book in the series but after reading this book there will defiantly be a book three, or at least there better be :)
I give this book two thumbs up and am going to go find the first book to read. It is a fun and adventures world the writing is good, and the story kept me reading.
Looking forward to book 3!
One of the things which I most enjoyed about this work was the worldbuilding, setting itself up nicely for an expansive trilogy in a cinematically described and wide-reaching world of fiefs, monarchs, deceptions, politics, magical lore, and gorgeous landscapes. I was with Jade every step of the way, and the emotional quality of the narrative made for some excellent heart-in-mouth moments when you really root for her to succeed. Overall, I would definitely recommend Isle of Dragons as a promising start to a rip-roaring new series for YA fantasy fans everywhere.
I like this book better than the first. A strong female lead is always good . A very strong follow up, really enjoyed it.
I have not read the first book however, after reading this one, I hope to continue the series if there is a sequel. The world-building was excellent, and the characters were diverse. I followed Jade through all of the twists and turns of her journey as she is seeking a library to help bring an end to the reign of King Jarrod, who has proclaimed himself the Chosen One. It has all the elements that I consider necessary for a good fantasy. Magic and Dragons with an added steampunk side to it as well. The story offers an adventure that pulls you in and encourages you to join Jade every step of the way.
