Despite her uneasiness, the two bond and start to fall for one another. However, as her departure date nears, things change for the worse. What began as a playful romance soon turns into a complicated web of lies. Grace grows wary of Calvin as his infatuation for her seems to have morphed to obsession. Wow. Okay. Where do I begin? There were so many parts where I found myself rolling my eyes. The first half had me questioning if I was reading a Romance or a Thriller, yet for some reason it worked and I really liked this one. Between this author's little nod to Colleen Hoover, to her calling out her own cliches, while adding in her mystery and crazy twist, I couldn't help but devour it all with no regrets. This is going to be one of those love or hate type books with me joining the latter. I love this author's writing style, humor and talent and can't wait to read her next one. Four Stars.

Thank you Netgalley and Blackstone Publishing for this ARC.

You Shouldn't Have Come Here is Jeneva Rose's newest thriller about an AirBnB adventure that goes from uncomfortable to creepy to absolutely terrifying all in a matter of a week. Grace is looking for an escape from the fast pace of New York City and Wyoming seems like the perfect place to decompress until her feelings for the handsome rancher change from attraction to fear. This is an intense game of cat and mouse... but who is the predator and who will be the prey?

An escape from her hectic life in Manhattan is in the cards for Grace Evans when she books and Airbnb stay at a ranch in Wyoming. The location is gorgeous and the rancher is easy on the eyes. Calvin and Grace hit it off right away and a little vacation romance blossoms, but the bloom is off the rose when Grace hears about a missing woman. And no cell service? Seriously? With her departure approaching, Grace begins to worry that Calvin is a little too interested in her, his infatuation borders on obsession. Just when you thought it was safe to travel again…….

This book was definitely a page turner and the ending was completely a shock to me! The story was a bit different from some of Jeneva’s prior books but I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it!

HOOOOLY MOOOOLY. My jaw is off the floor. What. A. Wild. Ride. I need to go stare at the wall in the dark for a few minutes....

Okay, I'm back! I have heard so many wonderful things about this author, but this was my first time reading a book from her. It certainly won't be my last! This was a crazy story. Nothing feels right, but you just can't put a finger in WHAT doesn't feel right. The main character, Grace, has the same feeling, but many times she ignores it or second guesses herself. So many time I wanted to scream, "Get out there lady!" at her. I mean no cell service and no wifi? I'd be out of there in 5 minutes 😆 The whole book has this creepy, unknown feeling just looming over you at all times. I'll be honest, the first 25% I felt was a bit slow - but BOY OH BOY did it pick up after that.

"We all have scars and each one has a story. I wondered what story his would tell."

This story is told from dual POVs which is my favorite! First we have Grace (Airbnb guest) and then we have Calvin (Airbnb host), and I definitely enjoyed each one and getting a glimpse into their minds a bit more. This book has several recurring characters, and you never know who's telling the truth or who you can trust. I read this book I'm ONE day because I couldn't put it down! The ending?! 👀

Read if you enjoy:
• locked room vibes
• creepy small town
• family secrets
• twistssss

Thank you Blackstone Publishing for this e-ARC! This book is due for publication 4/25/33 and I recommend it. This review will be posted to my blogs (that.bookmom) in the future!

OMG! I adore Jeneva Rose! She knows how to hook up her readers with her tricky, heart throbbing, unputdownable stories and knows how to increase the pressure, keeping you on your toes, sucker punching you with her crazy twists!

I had so much fun and when I reach the ending, I villanelle laughed for nearly a hour. It was freaking smart!

Even though there are too many things happening in this book including haunted house theme, massacre of animals, attacks of wild animals, creepy townies, secrets of dysfunctional family, crazy ex one night stands, you just learn to handle them by wearing your big girl pants! You don’t have a moment to breath out, because tension keeps escalating! Each of the characters is more creepier than the other. They seem like suspects. None of them is trustworthy. You keep guessing which one is telling a little more truth.

And let’s talk about two narrators: Grace Evans takes a break from her busy life in NY where she works in finance. She throws a dart to the map to decide her next trip and finds herself rent an Airbnb on a ranch in the middle of Wyoming: a cracking house carrying its own darkness, embellished with taxidermies, surrounded by wild animals which are ready to massacre the poor chickens. Grace shouldn’t have gone there! She should have run after spending a day but there’s a catch. The broken hearted, hot as hell home owner Calvin Wells ( second narrator)who likes to get his hands dirty, walking around shirtless, showing his six packs, is absolutely hard to resist. Poor boy starts acting like love sick boy next door as soon as he meets with Grace.

They get connected as soon as they spend some quality time together. But townies are not welcoming Grace with open arms. Calvin’s close friend Charlotte who wants to be more than a friend counting the days for Grace’s return, acting like jealous sulking bitch. Bee lady Betty is like a mother to Calvin wants to protect him getting hurt, giving her piece of mind to Grace and Calvin’s shady brother car mechanic Joe shamelessly flirting with her. Let’s not forget about old drunk man who insists he’s another Airbnb guest stalking each move of Grace behind the window.

Grace wants to enjoy her limited time and return back but there are so many things make her alert instead of townies including absence of Wi-fi, a missing woman who also booked a room at Calvin’s place and lately her car stops working. As her last day approaches Calvin acts more dramatic as if he won’t let her go. Can she trust that broken man? Is he truly honest with her?

I’m stopping here. Just expect the unexpected! Enjoy your time with those two unreliable narrators, creepy townies, haunted house!
Even though some of the explanations were a little far fetched, I enjoyed my reading time a lot and giving my 5 starts and more villanelle laughs!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing for sharing this amazing digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

Grace decides to take a break from her work in New York and takes a vacation to Wyoming. The ranch she selects to visit is very remote, but she likes that. Even more, she is attracted to the ranch owner, Calvin. Calvin quickly becomes obsessed with Grace and she soon begins to worry when a sheriff shows up and asks about a missing girl named Briana that was to supposed to have stayed at the ranch before Grace. Calvin claims he doesn't know who she is, but does he?

Oh boy, this was quite a wild ride and I was here for every bit of it! From the very beginning, I knew I was going to like this story. It was creepy and I just knew something was not quite right. The ending blew me away and I can gladly say this may be my favorite book by Jeneva Rose yet. I really can't wait to see what she comes up with next. All the stars for YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE COME HERE! If you don't have this already on your TBR, add it now and enjoy!

This is one of the best thrillers I have read in my life. What starts as amazing world setting quickly turns very atmospheric and quite frankly sinister. Rose has a way of getting you into her characters heads and somehow makes even the most unlikeable of likable in their own unique way. The twist at the very end shook me to my CORE! I need a sequel asap. Also this wins for most beautiful cover I’ve ever seen.

Jeneva Rose does it again with this extremely spooky thriller! The handsome landlord is definitely a scary character and the heroine is gutsy and fun to read about! Highly recommended!

Jeneva Rose has done it again! Grace Evans books an Airbnb in a quiet, little town in Wyoming. She meets Calvin, the host, and as they get to know each other, they both begin to question if the other is hiding something. I was hooked right from the beginning. I loved the details throughout as well as the twists and turns at every corner. Her books always suck me in and leave me satisfied! What a wild ride that was and had me questioning everything the entire book! Let's just say I did NOT see that ending coming! I'm already awaiting her next book!! Thank you so much NetGalley and Brownstone Publishing for early access!

What a twisted, curvy, out of the box, fantastic read about so many liars!

Grace Evans is taking a reprieve from the busy, hectic city life of New York and lands in an AirBnB on a beautiful ranch in gorgeous Wyoming. It becomes an even better getaway when the host of the AirBnB, Calvin Wells, is a gorgeous part of the Wyoming backdrop himself. A holiday fling ensues, but the more Grace gets to know Calvin, and all the people around him, the more she knows something isn’t quite right. Then the police show up at the house looking for a missing girl, reportedly headed to the same AirBnB that had just vanished. What is going on in this remote, beautiful ranch? What twisted games are being played? A deadly game of cat and mouse ensues, only who is the predator and who is the prey?

This is the first novel I have read by Jeneva Rose, but it will not be the last. There are so many curve balls thrown at you, so many deviations you won’t see coming. She writes with both passion and intent as well as satire and humor, even directed at her own writing style! This is one thriller you will not see the end coming! This will gut punch you and leaving you breathless and wanting for more. I will be recommending this to everyone that loves. a good thriller that keeps you on your toes the whole way through!

Thank you so much to #NetGalley, #BlackstonePublishing and of course the talented author #JenevaRose for extending an ARC in exchange for my honest opinions. This should be on everyone’s radar to snap up on publication day in April of 2023, believe me… you’ll WANT to go there!

My full review will be posted to all my social media accounts, blog sites, and retail sites on publication day.

Ooh, I did NOT see this ending coming! I really love books with unreliable narrators, and this fit right into that category. But who was the unreliable one? Can you trust ANYONE in this book??? I couldn't put this one down, nor can I really think of any recent books to compare it to. I can, however, recommend it and say that you're going to thoroughly enjoy reading this!

A superb fast paced thriller. I absolutely loved the story and couldn’t stop reading it. It’s perfect for all readers, especially thriller lovers.

Grace needs a change of scenery from her hectic New York life. She selects a remote Wyoming Airbnb that seems picture perfect, well maybe except no cell service and no WIFI. Along with this great location comes the attractive ranch owner Calvin who becomes obsessed with Grace. Grace on the other hand feels things are not quite what they seem, but she second guesses herself and ignores the warning signs.
Oh, my goodness, this story has so many twists and turns. Call in to work sick now because you will want to stay up until you get this one finished. I will be recommending this one to everyone that loves a good thriller that keeps you guessing until the end.
This is the first novel I have read by Jeneva Rose, but it will not be the last. Thank you to NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a surprise hit for me. Through the whole thing I often found myself thinking "no, theres no way anyone would do this" but at the same time, I could not put this book down! I kept switching what I thought from "I think Calvin is weird and guilty of something" to "maybe he has duel personality" to "something is def wrong with her"... it was then I realized this book is really good and REALLY entertaining because I could NOT figure what was going on! Such a fun read!

Holy cow! Talk about a plot twist and totally shocking story! So darn good. Hard to say anything without giving too much away. Just a great page turner that goes in a direction you would never expect.

What an amazing read once again from Jeneva Rose!!! I was hooked and engaged right from the beginning with the stellar writing and pacing. This is so atmospheric and creepy with twists and turns at every corner. I feared for the stability of the pages of the book as they were just dripping with tension and suspense at every moment.

I was at all times either enthralled by the relationship building, terrified of the unknown, or curious about the development of the cast of characters laid out before me. But above all, I was always itching to turn the next page and keep going.

Five stars once again for a writer who seems to be on a rocket trajectory that not even gravity can pull back down.

This is probably my favourite thriller of 2022! Simply obsessed.

I was worried about the dual POV because I read another thriller book where there are multiple POVs, and it did NOT work, but I found it actually worked here to create more uncertainty.

I genuinely was left guessing in the first half of the book and had no idea what was going on, because it read more like a small town rom-com, which made me all the more uneasy about when the shoe would drop and how.

The cast of characters all left me guessing and I thought I had it all figured out about 5 different times, but nothing could have prepared me for that ending!

I loved the writing, the pacing and the characters. Everything about this was just perfect.

The ONE issue I had was her excessive and unironic use of the word "Mosey" lol

𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝑺𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅𝒏'𝒕 𝑯𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒆 is a great example of a well-done cross-genre novel. I loved the first-person dual POV, and the atmospheric vibes in the first half of the book. I was definitely sitting there wondering, “Okay, but what’s the catch?”

Then, the twist—and the action that just didn’t quit once it started. Bravo, Ms. Rose…👏👏👏

When you know that a book is considered “suspense” you are constantly thinking what could the twist be while you’re reading. You are constantly trying to guess who the “bad guy” is. I love when the book can shock me. It’s always a fun surprise for it to end differently than you expect. This was a fun story to read and it definitely kept me guessing!

I have never read a Jeneva Rose book before I do follow her on TikTok, so this is my first time reading her, and this is great. This was an entertaining read; it was thrilling. I found myself feeling legitimately creeped out.
If you like small-town mystery thrillers that are fast pace with family secrets and unreliable narrators, this is the book for you.

I read the entire thing in a day. It was super fast paced and gave me an icky feeling the whole time- like any great book like this would. I figured out a portion of the ending pretty early but thought the reasoning would be different…. There were a lot of clues. But it was pretty fun

I always have problems picking out a good mystery. This was exactly what I was looking for. I’m usually able to guess the killer, but I wasn’t able to until the last 20 pages.

I have always been afraid to book an Airbnb. Now I don’t think I ever will! My heart was pounding on page 3 of this book! I couldn’t stop reading to find out what all the big secrets were and why so many people had died in such a short amount of time. This book is perfect for fans of “he’s a 10 but…” stories. I would call this one “he’s a 10 but…his last girlfriend died in a mysterious car crash”

You Shouldn't Have Come Here is another dynamite book by Jeneva Rose.

Grace takes a break from her life in New York and goes to stay on a very remote ranch in Wyoming. The world in Wyoming is a far cry from the hustle and bustle of New York life.
While there Grace starts a romance with Calvin - and I enjoy some romance in my mysteries. Then her beau begins to swerve from romantic encounter to obsession. Grace has to solve the mystery of a woman who previously disappeared without a trace - and Calvin is a likely suspect.

Twists and turns make this a compelling read. The scenery is described so well that I felt I could almost touch it.

Grace and Calvin…family and friends…vacation… beautiful landscapes …scary situations…this talented author has written a cannot put down novel. A page turner. This book would make a thriller movie…murder and intrigue. Red herrings abound. I did not guess the ending…it just did not occur to me that this book would end like this…none of the characters are likable. They don’t trust each other. This story moves quickly. Rose is gifted at keeping the reader on edge…guessing…this book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review.

I loved this!!! I finished it in less than 12 hours with all the mommying and living in between. I was supposed to be buddy reading it with two of my best book gals and I just couldn’t put it down. I needed to know what happened and if my suspicions were true, which you definitely form in the beginning of the book but it could always go any of which way. Of course, the writing was superb as expected. Another great book by Jeneva … I mean Drew’s wife lol

Loved this book! Jeneva has a way of keeping the reader engaged and guessing till the end! This is a story about Grace who goes away to rebalance herself. While some of the plot arcs were a little predictable the ride was still thoroughly enjoyable and there was a couple of twists I didn’t see coming!

This is the absolute fastest I’ve ever read a Jeneva Rose book—possibly the fastest I’ve read a book all year. I HAD to know where she was going with this, and I loved the tension between Grace and Calvin. I also loved the more closed/intimate nature of this book—different from her other books, but IT WORKS! Love how her dry humor comes through in just the right doses, and how messed up some of the twists are—she definitely did not play it safe, and I love when a thriller takes risks and it pays off.

Regret…

“I don’t have any. If it was good, I enjoyed it. If it was bad, I learned from it. I can’t go around regretting the things I’ve done that made me” -Grace

Let that just sit with you for a second.

You Shouldn’t Have Come Here

This book right here is jam packed with quotes and expressions of love (or obsession) that will have you reading, and rereading each sentence just to let it absorb a little further into your soul.

It’s weird to describe a book classified as a thriller with such passion and emotion but sometimes books hit a little differently depending on the mood you read them in.

My mood was just right for this one.

Last night I scrolled through my netgalley shelf looking for a book I knew I could get lost in, and that I did. Everything was so life like and the characters both lovable and hatable, layered and raw made them so real.

I am jealous of every person who is yet to read this one as I would love to experience it again and go a tad bit slower so I squeeze every last bit of goodness out of it.

Pre-Order the book, then come check on me, I barely survived that book-coaster 😰

My favorite Jeneva Rose novel BY FAR! I could not read it fast enough. The way that you were on pins and needles waiting for the shoe to drop...was brilliant. I did not see the end coming and that is what makes this an easy 5 star book. I was hooked from the beginning and was not able to figure out the ending. Highly recommend this book.

Jeneva Rose is amazing! I started reading her once the whole "Scott saga" started on tiktok and now I want to read everything she writes! This one is a new top favorite and I know everyone (except Scott) is going to agree!

This was definitely a thriller with an ending I did not see coming. The book read like a horror film, told from two different viewpoints - Grace and Calvin. The book was dark, twisted, creepy, atmospheric, with excellent pacing and mounting pressure from chapter to chapter. I kept wanting to turn the page, and was on my toes until the very end. Highly recommend this book to anyone looking for their next amazing thriller. Would make for an excellent horror film as well! Thank you Net Galley for the early copy.
