Description
Because the heart remembers what the mind chooses to forget…
Jennifer Bantam had a lot to be grateful for and certainly wasn’t one to complain. She had a successful editing business and good friends and family. But her love life was far from perfect. By now, she thought she’d be happily married with a family, but fate just wasn’t cooperating.
But everything changes when, while visiting her hometown of Shelby Falls, she receives a message from someone in her past--the sweet, handsome, and sexy Matt Conroy. While Matt is intent on apologizing for something that happened between them twenty years earlier, Jennifer has no idea what he's talking about and has successfully blocked out these memories.
Matt has never forgotten his first love, Jennifer, and is determined to win her back, but will Jennifer be able to trust Matt again and let down her defenses to be with the man she fell in love with twenty years ago? Will they be able to overcome their past and explore a future together? And will a frightening turn of events threaten to ruin their chance at a happily ever after?
Told through dual timelines, this is the story of second chances, never giving up, and the power of true love to make anything and everything possible, if only we have the courage to take that leap.

Emotional love story with dual timeline and great backstory!
Overall thoughts: classic modern love story with second chance romance, older main characters (late 30’s), fate/kismet and being open about trust, past relationships and what they want. It’s character driven with very detailed descriptions!
Spice level 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ - detailed open door scenes

Its great to read got addicted from the start, wish it much, much longer than it is. The characters and their emotions and interactions feel real and interesting.

Love finding a good stories with “older” main characters. Late 30’s, second chance, emotional story.
People remember things differently, and events will affect them in different ways. A story of reconnecting, remembering, and moving on.

If you like a well written story with interesting, complex characters and a second chance at romance, this is for you.
Jennifer and Matt knew one another when they were younger. Jennifer was dating Matt’s good friend so they often crossed paths. They lose contact with one another as is apt to happen with acquaintances. Fast forward years later and Jennifer receives a message from Matt that has her both confused and curious. She reaches out to him and what he has to tell her is a huge surprise to her. She is shocked with what he tells her yet it also sparks a renewed relationship as mature adults.
Follow their journey as they are reunited, complete with miscommunications, sweet moments that includes loving intimacy, and fun banter between them. You will root for them as they face obstacles that we all face in life - internal obstacles such as fear and insecurity, as well as external obstacles that life throws at us all. You will root for them to find their happily ever after.
It’s a lovely story that reminds us that love can come unexpectedly and being open to it will be life changing in the best of ways.

Ever since I read Jane Austen's "Persuasion", I've been a fan of the "second chance romance". I was thrilled to get an advance copy of this book which perfectly modernizes this theme - a sweet and comforting love story perfectly balanced with steamy scenes and spice galore. Don't miss the author's note at the end - I'm putting my vote in now for a sequel - I want to spend more time with Jenn and Matt and want to see what's next in their love story.

What Love Can Do was a first of mine for this author. The author reached out to me via instagram and gave me some insight into the POV of this book and I was thankful for that.
I am a sucker for a good second-chance romance! So reading the blurb immediately caught my attention.
I loved that the characters were older! I am 34 so reading about characters that are my age, or closer to, is a breath of fresh air! Most of the romance books I've read have had characters that are college/mid twenties and while that's fine.. I can't really relate to them much.
I loved that this story was character driven. There was so much that was relatable with Jenn and Matt. I personally think having relatable characters makes a book much easier to read.
I hope there is more to their story in books to come.
