Description

Vampire, intelligence scout, paranormal protector, and emotional liability… Bolingbrook has long been rumored to be a hub of paranormal and alien activity and Lydia should know—she's a vampire.

But that doesn't mean she fits in. Not when she's a target for other vampires and reliant on her blood family's protection because of her inconvenient inclination to experience feelings.

Except right now, Lydia has bigger things to worry about than her recent rejection by a human or her blood sister Aurora's relentless teasing. An army of weredeer are gathering near town and they need to gather intelligence fast.

When enforcers from one of Chicago's vampire kingdoms threaten the Bolingbrook Babbler's stunning chief editor, Aurora accuses Lydia of having feelings again. But even if Lydia does have a crush on the unsuspecting Sara, she deserves their protection.

Only Lydia hadn't counted on how powerful their enemies are. Or the sort of unexpected revelations that will come to light if Lydia dares to risk rejection again…

Get a Fire in the Shadows to find out what Lydia will risk.

Vampire, intelligence scout, paranormal protector, and emotional liability… Bolingbrook has long been rumored to be a hub of paranormal and alien activity and Lydia should know—she's a vampire.

Advance Praise

"“Let me preface this by saying that I have read William’s other two books from this series and now I had the honor of reading an advanced copy of A Fire in the Shadows and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Every new development in the story was thought out and interesting. The plot and story line was very smooth and allowed you to get caught up in reading without feeling like you were reading - but engaged in the story.

I don't usually read the sci-fi genre like this book, but this book made me want to take another look at the genre. I would recommend it!” ARC reader "

I couldn't put this book down once I started reading it. I have never read a book so fast before! It sucks you in from the very first sentence. I can't wait to read more books from this author.

I thought this sounded interesting even though I’m starting to tire a little bit with vampires. Not enough to stop, so there’s that. I didn’t realize that this was a novella between books that I hadn’t read, but that still wasn’t enough to stop me. I read this and could tell that there were things I wasn’t getting since I hadn’t read the first book. That’s OK, I expected that. I did really like Lydia and Aurora, but I probably would have liked them more if I had read the first one. Anyway, this is a good story, and I did get enough, that I’m interested in reading more of the series. 3 ½ stars rounded up. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

I could not put this down. It is a part of a series but can be read as a standalone. I loved the dynamic between Lydia and Aurora and will read the first and third books immediately.
