Description

When Jerry King, the American president, is hit on the head in a freak golf accident, the next time he regains consciousness is inside a tiny hut in an African village, as the newborn son of a jilted young woman. With his memory almost gone, all he knows is that he’s somebody very important called POTUS, with the possible surname of FLOTUS. He’s certainly not the little, squalling, black baby suckling greedily on the pinkie of the mammoth African giantess claiming to be his grandmother.

And so begins the life of little POTUS, the adopted and pampered son of a wealthy Nigerian couple living with a dangerous secret. From birth, POTUS hears strange voices inside his head and is forced to wear a powerful talisman wrought by the Babalawo to bind the fearsome water-spirit, POTUS, whom the medicine-man claims have possessed the child. Following a ghastly accident as a teenager, POTUS finally encounters The Oyinbo (white) Ghost, who could either be the trapped spirit of the original POTUS, Jerry King, or the fearsome water-spirit, POTUS. Who is the real POTUS?

The African POTUS is a dark farce of magical realism, a supernatural thriller of betrayal, vengeance, occultic magic, and unexpected redemption, steeped mysteriously in dark rituals invoked in the most unlikely places.

When Jerry King, the American president, is hit on the head in a freak golf accident, the next time he regains consciousness is inside a tiny hut in an African village, as the newborn son of a jilted...

This is a funny take on what would happen if a racist president who also wanted to be a dictator was re-created as a newly born baby of a villager in Africa. He thinks his name is POTUS and only has traces of his memories of before but that’s not to say he isn’t still feeling entitled and more important than others. He go through many trials and tribulations that does it teach him the lessons he should learn or will he come out of the distance pompous as he came in. This is a book full of LOL moments especially his first day at the international school that made me laugh so much but then again right after he was born was also very hilarious so I guess essentially what I’m saying is this book is hilarious all the way through. I definitely highly recommend it unless of course you’re a big Trump fan then maybe I would skip it unless you’re not easily offended. If not you’re in for a great treat there’s so much more to this booked in the brief summary I have given from little black POTUS meeting the white ghost who may or may not be his prior self but will Jerry King ever make it back to America in the White House and what will happen to his African parents? they have a little magical realism in the book and as I said the book is hilarious.g I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher but I’m leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
