Description

Can a small-town waitress capture the heart of a world-famous heartthrob?

For Heather Gordon, life in her small North Carolina town has always been simple and uneventful. Until one night when a rowdy food fight breaks out in her family’s restaurant where she’s a waitress. The culprits? The internationally famous rock band, Kirwan. And when Alex Kirwan, the charming and enigmatic lead singer, wants to make amends for his brothers’ (and bandmates’) behavior and invites her to attend one of their concerts as a guest of the band, Heather’s world is turned upside down . . . and sparks fly.

Alex has always loved music, but his rock-star life isn’t all glamorous people and parties. It’s also paparazzi and online tabloids, a new city every week, and the loneliness of touring—even if he has his brothers with him. But with Heather things are different, and he’s instantly smitten and determined to get to know the sweet, pretty woman who has absolutely no interest in his fame. If only he can convince her to take a chance on his crazy life.

Once Alex leaves on tour, he and Heather begin exchanging messages and calls. Despite the distance between them, they find themselves learning they have more in common than they ever could have imagined. But even while Heather and Alex’s relationship deepens, they must face the harsh realities of fame and the pressures it puts on their personal lives. Will their love be enough to overcome the challenges that come with celebrity, or will the rigors of distance and Alex’s life on the road tear them apart?

Filled with heart and the intoxicating allure of possibility, Starstruck is a must-read for anyone who has ever dreamed of finding love in surprising places.

In Starstruck, we follow Heather and Alex trying to navigate a developing relationship while in different parts of the country. We see them both grow in what they want in life, dreams and goals manifesting. It is a sweet story of being worthy and enough, while also putting yourself out there to make your dreams a reality. Inspiring and heartwarming.
I really enjoyed reading this book and it will be on my shelf as soon as it’s available!

Oh my goodness!! I simply couldn't put this sweet novel down so I finished it one day!
Put it simply Clipston is just marvelous in anything she writes!
You'll be swept away from beginning to end.
I just adored this book! I appreciate a fun read every now and then!
I really do know a guy named Jordan in real life! I also know a few Heather's too. I honestly think that's why I grabbed this book. It was the names and the cover that drew me.
I laughed at myself for that reason. Really though, I loved the entire book for itself.
I simply couldn't wait to write this review. I just enjoyed it that much!
I really loved Wendy, too. I loved her bubbly outgoing personality and laid back ways.
Then there's Heather, who's more like me. She's a bit reserved, but I still loved her. She has my dream!
This book had me grinning throughout it. I even laughed outloud too!
5 stars for this sweet contemporary novel!
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Alex Kirwan and his brothers have a Rock Band that has achieved stardom and his life is a lonely life of tours and performances. On tour in North Carolina the band stops at a well known BBQ restaurant for dinner and his younger brothers get into a food fight. Heather Gordon, the daughter of the owners, is a waitress that night. She is also a baker, well known for her desserts and cookies. She is disgusted with the mess the younger men left and when Alex comes back into the dining room after a phone call with his mother, Heather lets her displeasure be known. Tired of women fawning over him, it is refreshing to Alex to meet a woman who displays none of that. Alex gives tickets for his concert to Heather and her younger, starstruck sister, Wendy and even though Heather is not impressed she goes to appease Wendy. That night their friendship begins and soon turns to long distance romance. After some angst about their different lifestyles and homes (his family is from the West Coast) love conquers all. This was an entertaining, fast-paced romance.

I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my own honest opinion.

A swoon-worthy book!! Alex is such a heart throb and even better person as he loves going to the children's hospitals and encouraging the kids. Heather is also such a great character and I loved the way she pairs her baking with her favorite books. This was such a fun book to read!

Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own..

What a sweet and fun romance! Clipston takes a very unlikely situation and makes it seem plausible, showing the vulnerabilities and full scope of character of each protagonist. Their unlikely meet-cute, progression to relationship, and struggles to find a compromise that works will endear you to them and make you want to know what happens next. Will there be another book in this series, featuring a different brother? We'll see...

This story made me happy. It was a sweet and easy read. The romance isn’t rushed but you see their relationship grow. Very sweet - Alex is swoony and Heather is a lovely girl. A simple, delightful story. Heather is a genuine, lovely, down-to-earth girl, and Alex is an honest and normal guy. Heather has quirky names for her cakes; some of them are really silly and don’t make any sense at all (like Plot Twist Cinnamon Rolls or Love Triangle Lemon Cake, how weird is that!) but that is the only flaw I can come up with. I loved the lack of sex scenes, finally a book that is about love, romance, courtship and all the feels. It has enough depth to be interesting and believable. I liked it a lot and will recommend this book to my friends.
I received and reviewed an advanced copy of this book and I am grateful for this opportunity. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved Heather and Alex's story. It was warm and loving and I felt connected to these characters. I was sorry it had to end. What a great author!

I truly enjoyed reading Heather and Alex's stories! Heather may be the character that I've related to the most, out of all of Amy's characters. I definitely related to the way she didn't feel like she deserved Alex and her idea for a bookstore bakery. I thought that making the deserts have literary names was really cute. One of my best friends and I used to talk about starting a bookstore bakery with literary names for the deserts and coffees. Alex was truly swoon worthy and I loved the way he doted over Heather and was completely willing to do whatever it took to make their relationship work even though they couldn't see each other often. What I love about Amy's books is that she writes relatable characters and sweet stories. I love the settings and how sweet portrays small town life. I really love that while there was definite chemistry between Alex and Heather, there were no sex scenes. I have to admit I loved the visit to Flowering Grove and the cameo with Christine!!! Amy, you've definitely hit another one out of the park!

Thank you Netgalley and Amy Clipston for letting me have a copy of Starstruck, in exchange for an honest review. The contents of my review were not affected by this, in any way.

Heather Gordon is content working in her family's restaurant making desserts. She has dreams of opening her own shop combing two loves which are reading and baking desserts. One day the members of the band Kirwan enters the family restaurantI. Her sister is impressed and in awe but Heather is not particularly when the two younger brothers of the band make a mess after having a food fight. The older brother Alex comes in and apologizes and helps to clean up. He tries to make ammends by offering free tickets to their concert. Healther reluctanly goes to the concert after being pressured by her younger sister.. She enjoyed the concert more than she thought she would. After the concert she goes looking for her sister and accidentally wanders into Alex's dressing room. They get into a conversation and find out they both enjoy books. She thought she would never see him again but she loses her phone and Alex finds it. He traces her down and gives it back to her personally. They start communicating by text, email and zoom calls. I loved the character of Alex. He was so down to earth and wanted to do something more with his life other than be a rockstar. His younger brothers were more enamored with the fame and all that goes with fame. Alex was more humble. He loved that Heather was not like most girls who threw themselves at him. I loved how their love grew and not just an instant thing. I kept wondering how these two unlikely people would ever find happiness. He was a public figure and she was just a small town home girl and liked her privacy. Loved how they were able to face these obstacles to find the happiness they deserved.

Heather is highly involved in her family’s BBQ restaurant. Her family is incredibly close . Heather hopes one day to open her own bakery and bookstore .
She is living a happy life when Alex walks in the door . When he leaves she can’t stop thinking of him and vice versa . Alex and his two brothers are part of a popular band . He loves music and life . He meets Heather who is not impressed with his image but is interested in him.
One of the reasons I enjoyed this book is that both had full happy lives . They met each other and suddenly their happy full lives became fuller and happier . I loved that .The story pulled me in and I couldn’t put it down. Fantastic clean romance !

I loved this story! Not only because I live in North Carolina and can’t get enough of books that are set in this wonderful state, but also because I enjoyed the idea of a small town girl winning the heart of a world famous singer. Alex was so genuine and caring. Heather seemed so innocent and uninterested in fame.

I’ve read several Amish novels from this author and really like this clean version of a contemporary relationship. I found myself reading the About the Author page and am impressed with her “day job”.

Fame and fortune vs. small town girl! Amy Clipston gives us a delightful romance in this book.

Famed rockstar, Alex Kirwan, meets Heather, server in the restaurant owned by her parents.
The famed group, Kirwan, visit the restaurant and cause quite a ruckus, except for Alex. Heather has never even heard of the group and is very angry that they would leave such a mess, leaving her with no desire to have anything to do with them. Alex tries to make up for the trouble caused by his brothers by inviting Heather and her sister, Wendy, to the concert the next night. Heather has no desire to go but ends up going with her sister. While looking for her sister after the concert, she accidentally walks into the dressing room belonging to Alex. She sees a book that he is reading, which was one of the favorites she has read. They start talking about the book and learn they have many things in common. The band is on an extensive tour, including Europe which makes it seemingly impossible for any type of friendship to grow.

This is a great book that you will not want to put down until you have completed reading it. I highly recommend this book to those who enjoy reading clean romances. Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson – Fiction for the advanced copy of this book. The opinions expressed are my own.

This was a charming friends-to-lovers romance read filled with compelling characters and plenty of heart. A wonderful standalone read!
Overall, I really enjoyed the story. It is filled with so much heart and I was totally invested in these two as well as the growth that they both experienced. I couldn’t put the book down.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC! This book was phenomenal. I absolutely love Amy’s Amish novels so I knew there was a good chance that I would love this book. This novel focuses on Alex, a rock star and Heather, a worker in a familial restaurant. Alex is swept away by Heather immediately however it takes her a bit to return the interest. Alex pursues Heather and tries to keep her out of the spot light. This novel encompasses a cute romance, clean romance and the story that love can find you anywhere! Definitely recommend this novel!

Absolutely loved this delightful, heartwarming clean romance! Can always count on Amy Clipston to write stories that go right to the heart of the reader.

Sisters Heather, age 26 and Wendy, 22, both work in their family restaurant. When a large group of handsome young men come in, Wendy suddenly turns into a starstruck, giggly, squealing teenager. When Heather tells her to calm down, Wendy is shocked her sister does not know the young men are from the extremely popular rock band Kirwan. Heather is not impressed, nor does she have any idea who that is.

When the group leaves several hours later, leaving a big tip, as well as big mess after a food throwing frenzy, Heather is even less impressed. The older of the Kirwan brothers, Alex, apologies for the behavior of his younger brothers and helps Heather clean up the mess. Alex also leaves two VIP tickets for their concert in a nearby city, for the next night. The tickets are for Wendy and Heather, although Heather does not want to go, she reluctantly agrees to accompany Wendy to the concert and is surprised that she enjoys it. Afterwards they have a backstage pass and Heather and Alex connect over discovering their mutual love of books.

This is a charming, heartwarming story as Heather and Alex strike up a friendship via text and form a book club between the two of them to discuss their favorite books. There are many obstacles to their budding friendship. While Alex is on the road almost constantly with the band, presenting concerts across the nation and even in Europe, Heather is realizing her dream of opening her own combination bookshop and bakery.

I loved this story of Heather who falls for Alec from a popular band Kirmen, who came into a small town diner in North Carolina for dinner. Heather is upset because the brothers got in a food fight when the older brother Alex was out of sight for a few minutes. He apologized to Heather and tried to help her clean up. They left a big tip. Alex invites her and her sister Wendy as guests for that week. They end up going and Heather and Alex connect. Can a small town waitress/incredible baker have a long distance friendship and does it end up as something more. A VERY GOOD READ>

This was such a good story. Nothing beats a good rockstar/small-town girl. Alex meets Heather in her families restaurant when his brothers had a small food fight and then left a mess. He apologized for them and asked isf she and her sister wanted tickets to the concert the next night. She told him she had to wash her hair! He loved it. They went backstage after the concert and they started talking about books and music. That started a text and then phone conversations that made them just get closer. they were falling in love, but she wasn't sure she was cut out for his lifestyle. He knew he would do anything to make her happy and he did. A very lovely story, sweet too.

I had not read a stand alone book by Amy Clipston. This is my first and definitely will not be the last. I hope this is the beginning of a new series of hers. I loved the characters and the setting of the book. I have read 21 books of Amy Clipstons since June. This was a favorite!!

This is Alex Kirwan's story, an internationally famous rock star, and a hometown waitress Heather.

Loved that she never heard of this group of brothers and definitely wasn't impressed with them when they ate in her parents restaurant.

She knows she has nothing in common with wildly popular Alex, but they seem to click. They really seem to like each other, but he is really always on tour.

What a hard romance between these people, and yet, I was rooting for them, and as we journey this road with them you won't know until the end if they can make this work.

Be sure to read the epilogue!

Starstruck by Amy Clipston: five stars, as always! Clipston is one of the authors that I don’t even have to read the blurb for; I am going to read it. And, as usual, it didn’t disappoint. Heather’s dream is to open a bakery in her small hometown. Alex is an internationally famous rockstar. When the two meet, sparks fly: and not the good kind at first. However, a love of reading and a small sense of attraction bring them together. But can their love survive the difference in their lifestyles? You’ll have to read it and see!

A sweet small-town romance that will make you believe in love. Heather has dreams of opening her own business in her small town North Carolina. Alex and his brother's dreams of being a band have come true. Alex finds life on the road lonely, until he meets Heather. The couple start as friends messaging each other and that friendship turns into so much more. Will their affection for each other survive Alex's fame?

Heather Gordon works in a small town at her family's restaurant. Alex Kirwan and his brothers have a famous rock band, that Heather hasn't heard of but her sister is obsessed with them. They stop by the restaurant, the younger brothers start a food fight and a friendship blossoms. With the band touring, it's hard for Heather and Alex to spend time together. They stay in touch with phone calls and texts and occasional visits. As love begins to bloom, can their relationship survive the paparazzi and negative comments in the tabloids? This is a story about love, determination and overcoming the odds. I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

Starstruck, by Amy Clipston, is a fun story to read. This is a well written, easy to imagine story. It is so fun to read how Heather goes from not knowing anything about the band Kirwan to falling for the oldest brother. I enjoyed reading of how these two very different people were able to build a friendship while miles apart and how their relationship grew. It was fun to see Heather’s faith in obtaining her life long dream and the support she got from so many people. I appreciate how the story shows how Alex worked through his grief with the loss of his father. I especially enjoyed how he would take time out of his very busy schedule to visit children in medical facilities.

This story is realistic in the pressures popular people go through. Especially with the paparazzi and how they are portrayed on social media.

I enjoyed reading this story which I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of.

I enjoyed this unlikely meeting between a small-town waitress and baker with a popular rock star. Heather is a down to earth gal with goals in mind to open her own bakery and bookstore when she has raised enough money. waitressing at her parents' barbeque restaurant near Charlotte, North Carolina. When a rock band of brothers and their road crew eat in the restaurant, and the younger brothers have a food fight, she is furious, much to her younger sister's embarrassment. Wendy and lots of patrons recognize the band but not Heather. The older brother Alex tries to make things right by giving the sisters VIP tickets along with a backstage pass. What started out as a chance meeting turns into a friendship and progresses into a relationship but with the odds, can it be real? This is a sweet and endearing story with emotions that one can feel and empathize with as well as feel the frustration of tour life and celebrity recognition that prohibits a normal life. I thought Ms. Clipston did a wonderful job showing both sides of this type of relationship, the pros and cons. The characters are wonderful, likable and relatable. Highly recommend for those who enjoy romance, especially with lots of kissing.
I received a copy for the purpose of an honest review. These are my thoughts and opinions.

Starstruck by Amy Clipston is a wonderful story following Heather Gordon and Alex Kirwan. Heather works at her family's restaurant while Alex and his younger brothers have a famous rock band, that Heather hasn't heard of but her sister is obsessed with. When the band stops at their small town restaurant, the younger brothers start a food fight. While cleaning up the mess, Heather and Alex form the beginning of a friendship. With the band on tour, they stay in touch through phone calls and texts and occasional visits; building a relationship and connection. As love begins to bloom, Heather and Alex encounter numerous obstacles: including distance, the paparazzi and negative comments in the tabloids and social media. It’s going to take much convincing by Alex before Heather is willing to see a future together. This is a clean romance about love, determination and overcoming the odds; being famous yet wanting just normal things, about trust and being enough, about chasing one’s dreams. The band, Kirwin, reminded me of the Jonas Brothers or Hanson, if you are older. I highly recommend Starstruck to other readers.

When I see an Amy Clipston book coming out, I get so excited because I know it will not disappoint. Every time I said one more chapter, I just couldn't stop and I had to know what was going on!
Heather works in her parent’s restaurant and has a chance encounter with a popular rock band. Heather and Alex, one of the band members, soon become friends. Can a long distance romance between a rockstar and a waitress work?
I won't give away the ending but it tied up the story nicely. Many thanks to the author, Bookouture and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

I was pulled into this fun enemies-to-lovers clean romance from the very first chapter. Heather was angry about the big mess left behind when the famous band, Kirwan, paid a visit to her family’s restaurant and she did not hesitate to let their lead singer, Alex, know about it although he was not present during the food fight. When Alex offered free VIP passes for their next concert to Heather and her sister, Heather’s response was underwhelming. Surprisingly, Alex liked the outspoken woman who was not impressed by his celebrity. I thought the author did a good job of developing Alex and Heather’s relationship, showing their growing friendship despite the challenges of Alex’s fame, and eventually their romance that led to love. It was a fun, light read with some substance and I enjoyed it! Rating 4.5. I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley and this voluntary review contains my honest opinions.

Heather Gordon and Alex Kirwan live two very different lives. She is the small town girl with the simple life. He is the big time music star with life on the road and paparazzi around 24/7. When their worlds collide with they find they have more in common then they think? Heather must decide if she can share Alex with the world. Alex must decide if the road is where he wants to spend his time. Meeting in the middle may not be an option. I love how these two characters and their relationship developed. I was completely immersed in the story from the start!

Heather is a waitress at her family’s restaurant. One day some customers decided to have a small food fight. The said customers are the members of the famous band, Kirwan. When Heather and Wendy were cleaning up the mess left by the members, Alex, the oldest of the members, walks up to the sister, oblivious of what his brothers did and ask what happened. After knowing, he was completely apologetic and compensated the sisters by giving them VIP tickets to their concert.

Heather was not impressed with our guy Alex, especially after what mess his younger brothers left. She was completely adamant of not going to Kirwan's concert, even though the tickets were given to her and her sister as a way of apologizing. When Heather finally said yes to going after her sister's persuasion, she did not expect to be amazing of Alex's voice and their songs.

Alex just wanted a simple life. A life where he can walk freely outside, no paparazzi and fans cornering him and also to fall in love and start a family. When he met Heather, he was completely smitten. After getting to talk to her after the concert, he in awe of how similar they were.

Reading this book flew by quickly. It’s a clean, small town, strangers to friends to lovers romance book. Heather is a woman who has a dream of owning a bakery & bookstore and Alex is a part of a famous band Kirwan, together with his brothers. The chemistry between the two was there from the moment they first spoke to each other. Their story was full of sweetness and swoon. I had butterflies in my stomach everytime Alex did something special thing for Heather. Alex really knows how to treat a girl right 🥹🤍. I swear I couldn’t stop smiling because of these two.

It was just another average day at work at her family's restaurant when Heather experiences two overgrown kids having a food fight. Heather mentions this to another member of their party after they already left. To make amends, he invites her to he and his brothers' concert. Heather doesn't want anything to do with the pretentious band, but her sister insists that she attends with her. After the concert, Heather finds herself alone with the oldest brother and discovers that he is more down to earth than she realized. After realizing they share similar interests, phone numbers are exchanged and a friendship develops. Alex's life is not all glitz and glam; he often encounters loneliness, paparazzi, and being the subject of gossip columns. Will Heather be able to look past all that to see the real Alex? Will Alex be able to make time for Heather while dealing with a grueling international tour schedule? A good book full of romance, second chances, and putting aside one's fears. Recommend this book for lovers of romance.

I am so far on all my reviews and feedback on my book reviews. It just so sad but I could not do much about it. First life got so crazy that I could not make time to do reviews and then my computer broke on me. I finally have a new laptop so I can post my reviews! FINALLY!!

Anyway, back to the review…. I absolutely loved this book! I am in the mood where I just cannot finish any romance books but thankfully and luckily this was not one of these books. This is my first time reading any of this authors books but I think I will just go and check out the rest of her books. I completely adored this book and sadly if I enjoy a book then it is always a nice quick read for me. This was such a fun read and the writing was great. I could easily picture myself there.

Now this story is about a small town waitress Heather that met a famous rock star that she new nothing about. I adore reading small town/rock star romance. I love how there is Heather who would treat someone famous, Alex as a regular person and not someone famous. I mean Heather new next to nothing about the band that Alex was in even if the bad was so popular but yet they just clicked and seemed to really like each other. This was hard for them to be together because he was always on tour. I just loved reading this as it was really entertaining.

I would most certainly recommend this book if you love a  realistic romance book with the troubles of long distance relationships. It was just so swoon worthy and the characters just felt so real. This story showed how life is like being famous with the pressure of the paparazzi and how social media will portrayed them.

Starstruck, by Amy Clipston, is the story of an unlikely relationship between an ordinary small town woman and a famous rock star. When the band Kirwan stops to grab dinner at the Pit Barbeque in Flowering Grove, NC, the two younger brothers, Kayden and Jordan, end the meal with a food fight, making a mess for Heather and Wendy Gordon, daughters of the owners, to clean up. When older brother Alex returns from the restroom to find the mess and a fuming Heather, even though the younger Kirwan’s had left a very large tip. Alex, embarrassed, offers VIP tickets for their concert in Charlotte the following evening. Wendy is thrilled, Heather indicates she needs to wash her hair, unimpressed by the rockstars.

But Heather does accompany her sister, enjoys the concert, and while looking for the location of the meet and greet after a restroom visit, she wanders into Alex’s dressing room to find him with his guitar and singing a beautiful love song. As they begin talking they discover many common interests and begin forging a friendship. When Heather inadvertently leaves her cell phone in his dressing room, Alex makes sure to take it to her as they travel to their next gig.

Over the next few months, their relationship grows through texts, phone calls, and emails and as long as they keep their relationship to themselves it blossoms. But the instant the paparazzi and the social media get ahold of the information things change.

This is a very well written tale spotlighting a different kind of relationship. With well drawn characters and an interesting plot, I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it!

Absolutely LOVED this book! The story line between Heather Gordan & Alex Kirwan reminded me of a Hallmark movie (by the way, can anyone make this happen?), I could see it in my mind while reading. Relationships are hard & involve work in any phase, but involving fame & tabloids, geesh - I couldn't imagine. Thankfully, I won't have to, especially with authors like Amy Clipston who can do it for me. I enjoyed this book & I know readers will too.
