Description
Little Steve loved animals, and his childhood was spent amongst Australia’s wildlife. As a young boy, his parents started a wildlife refuge and Steve and his sisters helped care for many injured animals. When he was nine, Steve captured his first crocodile, in order to take it to a national park so it could have a safe, happy life. He fell in love with protecting crocodiles and as an adult became known as the crocodile hunter! Steve shared his love of wildlife and his passion for protecting it through television programmes, and soon rose to international fame. Steve used his celebrity status to educate the world on the importance of conservation. He and his wife, Terri, created nature reservations, grew their wildlife refuge, started a charity and raised their two children to love wildlife as much as they did.
Steve became one of the most celebrated conservationists in Australia and across the world. Today, Steve’s family continue his incredible work through Australia Zoo and Wildlife Warriors, the conservation charity founded by Steve and his wife Terri in 2002. Steve’s legacy continues to inspire young animal lovers and eco warriors everywhere, helping a new generation to protect the natural world and all the creatures who inhabit it.
This inspiring book features stylish and quirky illustrations and extra facts at the back, including a biographical timeline with historical photos and a detailed profile of the incredible animal activist and wildlife conservationist’s life.

As a huge fan of "The Crocodile Hunter" and of the "Little People, Big Dreams" books, I was very excited to read this book to my daughter. This is a great biographical story about Steve Irwin that is easy for children to understand. The illustrations are fun and unique, and I enjoyed the extra facts at the end of the book, which included a biographical timeline, photos, and a detailed profile. They also included some additional resources on the last page if you want to learn more. Such a fun book that also shines a light on the importance of loving and protecting wildlife.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Children's Books for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another great book in this series! This one highlights Steve Irwin and everything he did to champion animal recue. The drawings here are so cute as always and this is a great introduction for kids to animal conservation!
I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
What a good addition to this very simple biography series for young children! Steve Irwin had a lifelong love of wild animals, reptiles and dangerous creatures in general. I’m happy that through this little biography more people will get to know his work to save wildlife.
I grew up on Steve Erwin and was devastated when he died. This book was such a sweet and beautiful credit to his life.

Awe... This one will touch your heart! Steve Irwin was beloved by children and adults alike. His vision and passion for saving animals and bringing awareness to their plates lives on through his foundations and his family. Beautiful illustrated, filled with fun facts, and don't worry, - Steve's death is referenced only as his "tragic death," so no need to censor for the littles. Love this series and this. Will go down as one of my favorites!

I love these books and have read many with my grandchildren and for myself.
I have found no fault with any title yet; they bring to the forefront incredible people who have life stories that need telling, who have achievements worth sharing, to inspire others, young and old.
Steve Irwin became a wildlife hero in my home with my young daughters growing up. How fitting then that he has a place in this wonderful series.
His message and legacy live on and the measure of the man is that he took his inspiration from his own parents and his family now continue his work and share his love for own world.
Beautifully illustrated with a colour palette that captures the themes and the enthusiasm of this man. The writing is clear and informative. With a summary at the end to assist adults and young people, with photos that show the humanity of the person around whom this book is written.
I also like the additional reading suggestions and encouragement to learn more beyond the pages of the book.
I LOVE Steve Irwin and I think this is an excellent resource for keeping his memory alive. He was such an inspiration to me as a kid, and I can't wait for kids to read this and learn about him too!
This was an adorable children's book! It told enough information, where your child.can learn about the character, but also leave them wanting to know more.
Added this to my wish list for a physical copy, I can't wait to get more in the series!

Another great addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series.
Again I absolutely loved this one. So much packed information in simple sentences for younger audiences to understand and cherish. The illustration were absolutely beautiful. I loved the messages regarding how we need to look after animals and the planet which I are such important messages in educating younger audiences.
One problem but possibly an error to be corrected is the timeline with photographs at the end. The timeline starts at 1938 however Steve wasn’t born until 1962. I understand this will be corrected in the published version of the book.

These books are excellent, they all have important messages and manage to communicate them to children without terrifying them. My daughters particular favourites have been Emmeline Pankhurst and Rosa Parks. This has references to conservation and caring for our world along with some gorgeous illustrations. Another great addition to the series.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I love Steve Irwin so, so much. When I saw this book, I just had to request it. My mom is an elementary school librarian and we read this together and she is definitely going to snag a copy for her library. It’s so cute and informative for the intended age group.
My kids and I just adore these books. My oldest was the biggest Steve Irwin fan and he actually sat down and listened to me read this to his little sisters. It was just a lovely moment for me and our family. Thank you for books like these.
What an adorable book! I imagine most adults will smile when they see this one and enjoy sharing it with the children in their lives. This is a sweet, positive look at Steve Irwin's conservation work. The illustrations are lovely and extremely detailed. I could see a child spending so much time finding little surprises tucked into the drawings on each page.

Steve Irwin, was my introduction to the Little People Big Dreams book series for children. It’s a super easy and quick read – FULL of facts (a few that I didn’t already know!) and gorgeous full color illustrations. This sweet book will be a fantastic addition to my little grandmuffin’s personal library. I was given a digital advanced readers copy of Steve Irwin by Netgalley, Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara and Frances Lincoln Children's Books. I offer this honest review for your consideration.

I love this series and think they are great short reads whilst introducing children (or adults!) to influential people. I also like the timeline at the end of the book with some extra information about the person.
From this one I found out more about the history of Steve Irwin before he became famous in the world of wildlife.
The kids really love the little people, big dreams books, this book is certainly no exception! The kids absolutely loved this book; knowing who this person is made it much more exciting for them! He will be forever missed! We still watch his shows and follow his kids on social media, we really enjoy the whole family!
This is another endearing biography in the series of Little People, Big Dreams (4-7 years old), bringing a legendary figure who was passionate about animals and our surroundings.
Steve Irvin grew up in Australia, in family who loved animals. When he was eight, his family started a wildlife refuge. And when he was nine, he learned how to rescue a crocodile. From then on, he continued his passion for saving crocodiles.
He soon became Australia’s top “croc catcher,” and filming a documentary called “The Crocodile Hunter.” It became a popular show worldwide.
Steve’s enthusiasm for animals, especially crocodiles, comes through in this story and through illustrations. (The illustrations portraying little Steve are very cute). His story teaches that we belong to the planet as all other creatures and we should responsibly share the planet, rather than act as we own it.
In this wonderful biography presented with clear voice and examples, the “Little People” can learn about a man who did what he passionately cared for.

This book on Steve Irwin is a brilliant addition to the Litte People, Big Dreams book series.
As someone who spent. nearly 20 years in Australia I loved reading this with my 6 year old and Elsie entitled it so much she read it again and again in her own. My older two girls remember the ‘Crocodile Hunter’ and the Australian Zoo as they visited so both were interested in this too.
The illustrations are cute and the writing is knowledgeable and clear.
I will pre order this book to add t our collection

I LOVE this series! I will keep reading these books as long as Vegara keeps writing them. I tear up EVERY time! How does she do this? This book is a fantastic addition to this series.
This is part of an adorable biography series that appeals to all ages. The illustrations are more suited for younger children, but my middle schoolers will also like when I add this book to our biography baskets. Steve Irwin is a much-admired and recognizable name that I know will be a popular book choice.
Steve Irwin was beloved and his enthusiasm for wildlife rescue and conservation was so inspirational. This book is a nice way to pass his legacy on to future generations. The illustrations were lovely and so was his story!
Thank you NetGalley for the copy! This lovely little story about Steve Irwin’s life is so beautifully done. This book is interesting and sweet just like Irwin himself. The illustrations are cute and interesting.
How did Steve Irwin become The crocodile hunter? This Little people BIG DREAMS book will tell you all about it. Follow him from childhood and see his love for all creatures, especially crocodiles expand
A well written, interesting book perfect for children and adults alike.
This was such a cute book! I was always a fan of Steve Irwin and The Crocodile Hunter show- it was a big part of my childhood. I love that this children’s book will continue to spread his legacy to the next generation of children, who hopefully will learn to love and have compassion towards all animals.
The illustrations are eye catching and beautiful! This was a quick, brief history of Steve’s life and definitely keeps kids engaged throughout the story.
I am a huge fan of this entire series, and as soon as I saw that there was a Steve Irwin one, I had to request it.
I share these with my nephew and he loves them. And this one was no different. He loved the brightly colored and adorable illustrations, and we were both fascinated by Irwin's history. I loved learning that his own love of animals actually came from his parents.
The timeline at the end with photographs was a lovely addition, and it led the two of us to youtube to watch some clips of The Crocodile Hunter.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group from me and my nephew for this advance reader's copy!
What an amazing book it is that recounts Steve Irwin's early years and how they influenced his lifelong quest to aid and conserve wildlife. Early on, his parents taught in him a love for animals that he later shared with the world and that, even though he is no longer with us, continues to be felt.
I used to watch his programs when I was a kid, and this book is a wonderful way to convey Steve's story and his work to our kids in a way that's exciting and enjoyable, as shown in the excellent illustrations that will grab their interest and fire up their imaginations.
I particularly loved the book's final message. - "Because we don't own this planet, we belong to it, just like any living we share it with."- What a lovely way to end, reminding us to be nice and compassionate to everyone around us.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Children's Books for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really love all the Little People, BIG DREAMS books and this is no different. The vivid illustrations are eye-catching and just well-written for kids to read and understand better. Will definitely recommend purchasing it when it comes out
Crikey, this is a great book!
Most of us have heard of this amazing, enthusiastic human decked out in khaki shorts and have been inspired by his drive to respect the planet. His legacy lives on.
Readers will learn about a little Australian boy who had a dream - Steve Irwin. He grew up on his family’s wildlife reserve and began saving crocodiles when he was just 9 years old! His love of animals earned him the nickname, “croc-catcher.”
I loved the backstory of how the successful TV series got started and how he met his wife. My niece and nephew enjoyed the vibrant photos and soon headed to the dress-up box to ‘play’ wildlife warriors. Message received, Steve Irwin.
His daughter Bindi tearly pleaded, “I don’t want Daddy’s passion to ever end.” This book heralds a new generation of wildlife warriors who will carry Steve Irwin’s passion for all living creatures.
The timeline, photos, illustrations, extra facts, and simple sentences will appeal to young readers.
I was gifted this copy by Quarto Publishing Group, Frances Lincoln Children’s Books and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
This book was absolutely stunning! I grew up watching everything Steve Irwin offered and it shaped the person I am today. Care for wildlife conservation is an important lesson for youngwr generations, so when I saw this illustrated book for young readers I had to rlget it immediately. I enjoyed reading this book, and my niece enjoyed reading this book, it captured one of the best humans the world has had so well. Would definitely recommend!
A lovely introduction to such a wonderful wildlife legend, and a very deserved addition to the Little People, Big Dreams collection.
It fills me with joy that young people are going to be able to learn about Steve Irwin and all the incredible things he achieved, and the legacy he left behind.
A really great book for little ones to inspire them to follow their dreams and take care of our home - Planet Earth

A beautiful children’s book on the life of Steve Irwin. From the small beginnings with his parents, to fame and awareness with his own family, this book is a good introduction for children about being kind to animals, and awareness that we share the world with them.
CRIKEY this book is perfection. Steve Irwin and his love for wildlife and conservation was the running thread of my childhood. Getting to share this man’s incredible life story and mission with my kids through this beautifully illustrated book was such a joy. It touches on his early life, how his family came to start their wildlife park, how he met Terri and how their family has continued to grow and expand education around wildlife. It’s truly inspiring and now I want to find old episodes of The Crocodile Hunter to show my children! We cannot wait to add the finished copy of this to our home library!

Who doesn’t love (and deeply miss) Steve Irwin? I love his story, his passion and getting his family involved with his passion. This book is the same story we have all heard but told to kids.
