Description

What could go wrong when the good girl gets stuck with the bad boy? After all, it's just chemistry…

Emerson Powers has been so focused on obtaining her science degree that she’s neglected the more social aspects of college life. But she's ready to spice things up during her junior year with a real hands-on lesson in biology. The assignment is simple enough—teach the rock star’s son how to be good, while he shows her how to be bad. Two objectives, one outcome … will the lesson be love or heartbreak?

Steel is no longer the bad boy Emerson knew from prep school living under his dad's legendary shadow. He's determined to show that he has changed by assisting Emerson with her secret list, but not before he adds a few goals of his own. And if he can convince her that they are meant to be together along the way, even better!

While teaming up on experiments, both in and out of the classroom, Emerson discovers a new side to Steel. Leaving her to question everything she thought she knew. Still, is it enough to forgive the past or just mere chemistry? Spoiler, science always wins!

This was such a fun read! It's my first time reading a book in this genre and I really enjoyed it. The plot is exactly as the book description says, so if that piques your interest, definitely give it a read!

Quick Summary: A bad boy for the win, NA romance

My Review: Blinded Me With Science by Tara September is part of the Lesson in Love series. It is a short novella that was originally released in 2022. A new publication date was set for November 2023. This opposites attract college romance features Emerson Powers, a bio/chem major, and Steel Nash, a reformed bad boy who plans to pursue a MBA.

About the Book: During prep school, Emerson was the perfect daughter. She was straight laced. She got good grades. She kept out of trouble. When Steel came on the scene, she noticed him. Unfortunately, he rubbed her the wrong way. Secretly, however, she had a crush on him. When one of his pranks upset the course of her life, she couldn't wait to put him behind her. Why oh why does she now have to face him while attending Thatcher College?

Question to Consider: Can two former opposing schoolmates find something special in the newness of life situation they presently find themselves in?

My Final Say: This story was cute, quick, and satisfyingly complete. Readers who like romantic college connections will adore this book.

This is a fun, entertaining, good read. Steel and Emerson are interesting, intriguing, entertaining, relatable characters. They captured my attention from the start and held it until the very end. I love Steel and Emerson and their romance. They are so good together and their romance is very fitting for them. While I loved the romance the subplots are good and add dimension to the story. The secondary characters – particularly Emerson’s friends Jax and April – added to the fabric of the story. The book is easy to read and get into. I’m looking forward to reading other books by this author.

I enjoyed both the audio and the ebook versions of this story. The narrator did a good job.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Tara was nice enough to provide me a copy of the audiobook and NetGalley provided me an ecopy so I went back and forth. The narrator's voice I thought was perfect. She was youthful and she had an extra *something* for Steel's voice that I really enjoyed.

The story itself was so great. It was a little short for my liking only because once I got into it I really wanted more of Emerson and Steel. I wasn't ready to say goodbye to them by the end.

It really was structured and the discovery that Emerson had a bigger impact on Steel back in high school I thought was a fitting lesson we all forget. Sometimes we don't know the impact we have on people for better or for worse. We're only getting one side of the story (our side) and often jumping to conclusions with only 1/2 the story causes incorrect assumptions. Having someone who brings out a different side to you (the cheese to your macaroni) is exactly why the Opposite's Attract trope is one of my favorites.

*I received this book free from NetGalley.*

Emerson was the dean's daughter in prep school and now that she was off at college she wanted to change a few things, although she wasn't sure how. Then Steel walked into her Advanced Bio class she was speechless. She remembered him vividly from prep school. Hot, yes. Troublemaker, definitely! She couldn't wrap her head around the fact that this man she knew as basically a delinquent was in her Advanced Bio class.

Steel was drawn to Emerson the first day of prep school when she showed him around, but she was too good for him, and he knew better than to try anything until he was the man she needed him to be. So that's what he did. He did online college classes and helped his dad's band out with a lot of things, gaining actually experience while getting his education and when he found out which college Emerson had gone too, he followed. He wanted her and no matter how long it took he was in for the forever.

Emerson creates this list on the things she needs to do and Steel accidentally comes across it. He talks her into letting him help her accomplish all her goals, because he wants to be near her. She agrees, because she thinks he can actually help. The big one on the list...to lose her virginity...oh he definitely wants to help with that, but because he loves her, he'll make sure everything happens the right way.

Blinded me with Science is romantic and funny. I enjoyed the way the characters interacted, the storyline was fun and interesting, and the combination of it all kept me awake all night and turning the pages.

Blinded Me With Science is a sweet and steamy opposites-attract college romance that will make you swoon. Emerson is a smart and nerdy science major who wants to spice up her junior year with some new experiences. Steel is the son of a rock star who has a reputation for being a bad boy, but he’s determined to show Emerson his good side. Together, they embark on a series of experiments, both in and out of the lab, that bring them closer and challenge their assumptions. This book is full of witty banter, chemistry, and heart. If you’re looking for a fun and flirty read with a STEM heroine and a rock star’s son, you'll love this book.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this eARC in exchange for a honest review.

I really enjoyed this book, nice fast read but done well and there was detail. Emerson was a fun, smart, whitty female lead who i really enjoyed. Steel was a good original name that you don't see over and over in books so I loved that, he was also a great character! His character growth even though we don't see it and it's through memories is still phenomenal!!
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone.

I was given a copy of this in exchange for a review.

I thought this was a fun read. I've never read anything by Tara September before so a new to me author. This one is set during the college years which is not a trope I generally read but this one was fun I thought. Bad boy turns good and helps out the good girl try out being bad. This one is a short read but enjoyable.

What a fun college romance read!!! So much tension as Steel tries to prove to his High school crush, Emerson that he is no longer the bad boy rock star’s son. Emerson, however, being the goodie two shoes is definitely stubborn when it comes to changing her mind.

This is a cute, fun, quick read romance centering around Emerson and Steel. She is a science geek, and he is the son of a famous rock star. Em remembers him from high school as the popular kid always causing trouble, while Steel remembers her as the one he could never stop thinking of. When the two are paired up for a science class, the chemistry is instantaneous.
Loved the characters and the cute banter between them.

What a sweet rom-com read that seamlessly blends, romance, second chances and spicy beginnings set in the vibrant world of academia. Emerson is very focused on her studies in science. Steel, is the son of a famous band frontman, and crushed on Emerson back in high school. He later transfers into her college just for the second chance with her. Emerson and Steel are fire!

This was my first book that I have read from Tara September and I loved it!! It was a super fast read and it was super easy to follow. I loved the main character Em and how the romance between her and Steel was not a long slow burn. I also liked how they both voiced their feelings and the romance was not long and drawn out. The characters were well developed along with the setting of the school. There is not one thing that I would change about this book. I listened to the audio version of this book and the narrator was really good. Thanks for a great book. I look forward to reading more from this author.
