Cute Creature Art Class

The creatures in here are SO CUTE!! I love all of the artwork, and Ms. Lord does a great job breaking down each step in the drawing process. Also, I learned that Clip Studio Paint exists, and it’s apparently a very good app to make your own comics. I plan on looking more into how to use it.

I’m also very excited to use the following sentence: That is the happiest Cthulhu I’ve ever seen!!

This was such a cute drawing book. I have been wanting to start learning how to draw. This was very helpful!

Cute Creature Art Class gives readers/artists exactly what they expect: a book full of step by step instructions for drawing adorable magical creatures of land, sea, and air. The instructions are easy to follow and there are some basic tips for drawing at the beginning for anyone just getting started. I love this artists style and have been following her on Instagram for a couple years now. I’m so happy to see this art book coming out and hope to see more people discovering her work!

let me start by saying that I have been a fan of Naomi Lord for 5 years now. I remember checking her Instagram right after school as I waited with anticipation to see her new daily drawing. This book brings out the same giddiness in me as I feel like I was transported back to being that same little kid.

While my enjoyment of this book was fueled by nostalgia, I will admit that new fans will love it as well. The main appeal I always had of Naomi Lord was the types of creatures she drew. While most fantasy artists limit themselves to unicorns, mermaids, and the occasional sphinx. Lord takes it one step further by introducing unique creatures of various mythologies, such as a kirin, quetzalcoatl, akhlut, and so much more. Another part was that she included multiple animal combinations for the imaginative who want to take it a step further.

Another aspect I enjoyed was how detailed the instructions were and how Lord was able to break down the complicated drawings to simple shapes, perfect for beginners. The first few pages are also filled with Lord introducing how she developed her art style and how to reference it. I know I'm going to be using her advice!

I really love Naomi's art style and I was eager to try her tutorials. I have some experience with traditional drawing and I'm really trying to learn more about the digital one. She explains beautifully how to follow her tutorials for both techniques (drawing and coloring as well!) and gives easy to follow examples about how to customize the characters at the beginning of the book.
Another thing I really loved is that she's giving a little bit of information about each character.
The tutorials are easy to follow and while it may take a few tries depending on you experience, you'll end up with a super cute drawing you'll be proud of

Loved the wide variety of creatures from several different mythologies and cultures. The wording of the directions are easy to understand and it truly walks you through each one step-by-step. Especially enjoyed that there was even a section on how best to color it.

I was so excited to get a copy of this book to review as I'm a huge fan of Naomi's art!

The illustrations are beautiful and the tutorials are so clear and helpful. I've already tried out the Kitsune tutorial but applied the body outline to a cat I was illustrating and I love how it turned out!

So many cute little creatures and I love that there is a range of characters with their different poses to try out!

This is an adorable and easy to follow little guide with step-by-step instructions on how to draw cute creatures like dryads and kitsune. I enjoyed this a lot!

I can't resist these books, especially by youtuber Naomi Lord. I love that it's about 160 pages each double page has a creature. The style is kawaii (cute) and the step-by-step (some have up to 29 thumbnails explaining) comes with a short explanation for each thumbnail. Plenty of diversity we can learn to make feathers, characters, and animals with four paws but also winged ones. There's a lot.

This classic 'how to draw' book takes you step by step through several different categories of chibi mythological creatures. As someone who loves to draw (but isn't necessarily very good), I really appreciated how she didn't skip steps and just assume you'd be able to fill in the blanks. The inclusion of tips for complete beginners, as well as for traditional vs. digital media was a great decision, and I appreciated her suggestions for how to color in your creatures at the end of each tutorial. Naomi's upbeat and enthusiastic approach to art comes across well on these pages, and artists and hobbyists alike are sure to find plenty of fun in Cute Creature Art Class.

This book would be a great purchase for anyone who enjoys the chibi art style or fantasy/mythological creatures and is suitable even for beginners.

Such an adorable book about learning to draw mythical creatures! I fell in love with the author’s particular drawing style. They’re all so precious!

Coming from the perspective of someone who doesn’t actually draw very much, some of the illustrations felt a little intimidating or unattainable, but the instructions themselves were to the point and simple to follow and understand.

I have been OBSESSED with Naomi Lord for a few years now, and seeing this book made me so happy. It's such a well organized and easy to follow guide to drawing creatures like hers.

The book “Cute Creature Art Class- Learn to Draw over 50 Magical Monsters” by Naomi Lord gives step by step drawing tutorials for mythical creatures in a cute anime style.

The tutorials are easy to follow and offer a great variety of creatures. I especially like the "Mythical Combos" section of the book in which two creatures are combined into a new species. The artist's signature style really is enchanting and very versatile.

The only thing I would have liked to see in addition to the existing chapters would be a section focusing on the specific body parts in a side by side graphic so it's easier to create my own combined creatures.

I would recommend this book for entry level artists wanting to dive into simple creature drawings.

Very cute drawings!! I only wish I was a better artist so I could draw all these adorable creatures! I highly recommend this for anyone who likes cute stuff and art.

I fell in love with this book. The simple how-to made it a easy to follow and made it fun to do. I didn't know who the artist was but all I can say is that their art style is to die for. Absolutely adorable!

This is BY FAR the CUTEST thing I have ever seen. I used to draw ALL THE TIME as a child, and now working in architecture I still get to draw but nothing this adorable. The layout of the sheets/creatures is easy to understand and the steps are perfectly illustrated. I most definitely will be picking this book up when it's published! I have no other words, you need this ADORABLY CUTE book! I will be recommending/buying this for so many people I know. I can't think of one negative thing to say about this book.

What a cute drawing book! It's got a variety of creatures to pick from, the style is very distinctive and the directions are very straight forward. Plenty of variety and I liked all of the different poses that the creatures had.

I have an 11 year old niece who likes to draw and she was who I had in mind when I requested an ARC for this book. The directions are clear to follow and the characters are so cute! Each creature gets a little blurb and I love that.

This book is full of adorable creatures of all kinds, including some really pretty humanoids! The step-by-step instructions are broken down in a way that's super easy to follow. I really liked that the tutorials ranged in difficulty with some only having a few steps whereas some of the more details drawings were a little more advanced.
Another thing I loved was in the intro section where each creature had a short description. The bonus creatures at the end of the book were also such a nice addition!

Love the key page, it was really neat to see all of the creatures together as a table of contents. The art is beyond my ability without a lot of practice, but the instructions seem easy to follow.

My daughter and I follow Naomi on Facebook and have always admired her cute artwork so we were very excited to learn how to draw in her style!
We’ve tried many How to Draw books and often find that they don’t include enough steps for my daughter (10) to follow accurately but Naomi gets it just right. We’ve had great fun drawing our own creatures and hope there are more books to come!

This is an adorable book, first of all. It's also a great step-by-step drawing book. It actually takes you through each step without skipping any, so you don't get the usual A-B-C-D-Z situation many drawing tutorial books use. It's always so frustrating not knowing how they got to the final version, but here it's easy to see and easy to follow.

There is also a wide enough range of adorable mythical creatures here that it would be easy to use it as a jumping off point to creating your own, once you got comfortable drawing a few. I look forward to doing just that.

I also really like that it takes you through the steps to create drawings both using traditional media and virtually, and also does the same for coloring tips. Basically everything you need to get you drawing cute creatures in no time.

This is an absolutely adorable art book tutorial! I am NOT an artist by any stretch of the imagination but the author did a fantastic job breaking down the steps in an easy-to-follow way that make drawing fun! My kids are loving the adorable little creatures and this book was a huge confidence booster in my abilities. Kudos to the author - this is the first how-to drawing book I actually enjoyed!

Cute Creature Art Class offers a wide array of creatures to learn to draw. The creatures in this book are indeed quite cute and the instructions are straightforward, step-by-step, and easy to understand. Definitely one to add to any artist's bookshelf.

As a fantasy reader I am obsessed with this book. It’s so easy to follow and the creatures are adorable, I will print out my drawings and put them on my shelf.

The different things that you can learn how to draw is amazing. I think I’ll definitely need to purchase a physical copy of this to continue practicing at home traditionally!

I loved how detailed each character/creature was, even with little descriptions introducing them. Each tutorial was well explained and had many steps that built up the drawing rather than some books that have very little or few steps to follow which can sometimes confuse myself when trying to follow to get the end result. But I was so surprised to see how well explained this was! There's also a page about drawing/line work using digital programs.

Definitely check out if you're interesting in drawing or want to get into designing characters or creatures!

With Wonderful illustrations and easy to follow directions, this book is a fantastic beginners guide to drawing anime creature classics. Naomi Lord brings some of the mythical beasts of lore to brilliant color for all to enjoy. Even if you don't want to learn to draw them this book gives a nice overview of many fantasy magical "monsters".

This book is everything and then some more extra! There are step-by-step, easy-to-follow, bite-sized instructions on how to create all kinds of cute and adorable drawings. Each one is broken down into tiny and simple steps, and the result is great.

This was an amazing book for intermediate drawers. Even adults would love it. The animal drawings are cute with lots of details added. There are so many tips and tricks in this book provided by Naomi Lord using various physical and digital formats.

My favorite aspect of the book was how organized it was. The groupings allowed you to explore the book based on interest instead of wading through a lot of extra material.

This was absolutely adorable,I found it easy to follow with so many cute photos, definitely recommended for budding artists.

I have been following Naomi Lord's work on social media for over a year and was so (pleasantly) surprised to see this pop up. I promptly went to place an order as all of her characters are not only adorable, but they are captured in a way that makes any character (looking at you Voldy) endearing. While I am confident my attempts to draw these beauties will not be nearly as successful as Naomi's artistry, my scribbles will be better now as a result. Thank you!

There is a lot to love about this art book. Not only is it visually pleasing but there are great tips. I personally would recommend this for people who have a basic grasp on drawing. I like that there was a quick rundown of digital vs. traditional style since digital art is so mainstream and many art books won't acknowledge that. I will be buying this for the artist in my own life who enjoys cuter art/illustrates children's books.

When I tell you, I saw the cover of this book and RAN! The cover ALONE sold me then when I opened it up and realized this was something I could do and it's fantasy creatures?? Oh, I am in love! This was a simple step by step kawaii creatures drawing book. I used my iPad to make it easier but never have I thought about drawing until this book. I absolutely adore this book!! I have to say, I'm a mythical creature enjoyer myself so I already knew I was going to love this book, but I didn't engage with it so much! I love how easy the author makes it to follow along and draw all the amazing creatures. this is perfect for the most experienced artist to the most inexperienced non-artist!
The art of this book is absolutely adorable! I know that's the point, but It really is so easy on the eyes and so wonderful I wish I could cuddle with every deadly creature depicted! I've spent many hours just drawing and colouring and having a blast in my sketchbook! I even made a few of my very own creatures along the way! overall, this book is an amazing creature, drawing, and cuteness overload every creature lover and artist should pick up!! I love it!!

While I'm not personally a huge fan of anime in general, the creatures in this drawing book are really cute. I do enjoy reading fantasy and also enjoy drawing and painting. This book gives great step-by-step instructions for how to create over 50 magical beings. There are many of the creatures that I am unfamiliar with, so I especially like the way the book is structured. The book begins with an introduction to anime and tools needed to complete the drawings. Then, it has a key of all of the fantasy creatures that can be created using the book. The remainder of the book is divided into sections for various types of creatures based on body strucure and dwelling. The sections included are: Land Walkers, Air Gliders, Sea Splashers, Night Dwellers, and a final Bonus section of Mythical Combos. With all of the specific instructions for various body structures (hooves, wings, scales, etc), it allows for creativity in designing your own magical creatures. I will recommend this book to some students I know who are into art and anime as I know they will love it. I'm excited to keep creating creatures of my own.

A lovely and detailed art reference book! The designs are cute, as promised, and very satisfying to draw.

There are also some drawing and colouring tips, as well as info on the creatures and the folklore they originate from (Aztec, Japanese, Greek, Scottish...).

I recommend this to people of all ages who enjoy mythological creatures and this cute art style. Perfect for a cosy winter afternoon!

I've been following Naomi Lord on Instagram for forever now so as soon as I saw this I had to get it. Naomi is such a talented artist and it truly is amazing to get to learn from the best.

The techniques throughout this guide go step by step and are perfect for any novel, or practiced, artist to follow along with. The art itself and colors throughout are absolutely gorgeous. This can be used for both physical and digital drawing.

I can't wait to try these techniques out in procreate on my iPad!

This book is a wonderful guide to anyone with some rudimentary knowledge about drawing. A complete novice would probably struggle a bit to understand the steps and some of the shapes, but if you are looking to grow your skills past a beginner level and draw cute, adorable fantasy creatures, this book is the book you need.
The style is fanciful and imaginative and completely non threatening. Perfect for kids who have been drawing for a little while as well as adults who want to keep things on the lighter side thematically.

It explains how to draw quite creatures in a very simple way, I definitely try to draw someone.

At first glance I thought all the lessons looked the same. I felt like I was looking at a collection of furry Pokemon. However, on closer inspection, the book provides great tutorials on how to draw a range of mythical creatures from across the globe.

I like how they are broken down into four categories to focus on either land, air, sea, or night creatures. I also like how Lord provides a brief overview of each creature giving the reader/artist an idea as to what is the main thing that sets each creature apart from each other.

The book starts with a quick lesson on how best to colour your characters to give them a 3D spell. It seemed a little premature until you get started with actually drawing the creatures because it also makes you think about other items you might want to draw, especially light sources.

The absolute best feature of this book is that it is unassuming about the type of artist you are. Lessons are taught in a way that freehand drawers can appreciate. Equally, it explains the steps required for artists using computer software. I think I'm going to enjoy practicing because as someone that can't draw for toffees, I have actually created a couple of cute sketches.
