Description

Can Opponents in the courtroom become lovers in the bedroom?

An insurrection occurs at the state capitol in Lansing, Michigan. A young woman is trampled to death by the rioters. The woman's father retains a rookie lawyer from small-town Saline, stunningly beautiful Andrea Kramer, to sue the state of Michigan and the former governor who contested the recent election and inspired the insurrection. Andrea is a struggling sole practitioner who recently decided to hang her shingle. The only office in her price range is a “haunted house and barn,” converted to office space because a family was murdered in the home years before. Everyone who visits swears it “smells funny.”

Michael O’Hara wakes up in a hotel room with no memory of how he got there. A naked woman lies sleeping in his bed. His phone alarm alerts him that he is late for an important meeting at the office, a silk-stocking defense law firm in Detroit. He apologizes to the woman and rushes to the office, where the firm’s senior partner meets with the Michigan Attorney General. The AG wants the firm to represent the state of Michigan in a wrongful death lawsuit resulting from the recent insurrection at the capitol. The senior partner has tapped the handsome, rugged, chiseled, 6-foot, 4-inch Michael, the firm’s most successful trial lawyer, to handle the case.

Andrea is passionate about justice, an advocate for the people, and wants to do well by doing good. Michael is a 'bad-boy' country club type lawyer, a sexy playboy who believes in winning at all costs, ethics be damned. The two attorneys clash from day one—when Michael first meets Andrea, he arrogantly informs her that she’s too inexperienced to win this high-profile case. Who will emerge victorious? What will be the personal and professional effects of one’s victory and the other’s defeat? Can romance blossom from such troubled roots? Can a big city 'bad boy' win the heart of a small town 'good girl'? "Love-Hate-Law" answers these questions and more.

I just could not ask for anything better in a book; incredible new characters mixed with one of my all-time favorite returning characters. It is simply the best of both worlds. As with all of Mr. Bello’s previous books, everything about “Love Hate Law” is ideal… riveting plot, characters that are real and that you can come to care about, excellent dialogue, and enough twists and turns to keep your attention throughout. I loved it and I am sure that you will as well. I am excited to see what happens as the series goes on. 5 Stars!! —Kathy Stickles for Reader Views I just could not ask for anything better in a book; incredible new characters mixed with one of my all-time favorite returning characters. From opposing counsel to lovers. This is a very delightful read, showcasing the different legal strategies between plaintiff and defense. The story is loosely adapted from the recent Presidential election and it always makes you wonder how the aftermath was handled. It's a glimpse to what went on inside the court that a normal citizen is not privy to witness.

The characters are enjoyable. The way they handled their conflicts show how they complement each other. I like that even though they don't always share the same opinions, they are always able to resolve their issues without the mess.

My thanks to 10 Grand Publications and NetGalley for granting this e-ARC for an honest review.

Great story with a whole different slant on things. I thought it would go one way and the plot surprised me. This not your usual female lawyer v. male lawyer tale. Well done and a great read. Now to check out some of this author's other books.

I received an ARC through "NetGalley" and I am leaving an honest rebiew.

In this latest story Michigan has finished an election and the current Govenor lost. He has made statements similar to what happened in D.C. after the 2020 election. He has a crowd that he urged to attack the capital. As a result, an aide was killed as she was trampled on the steps.

We are then introduced to Andrea, a lawyer who has decided to open her own firm. She has set up in an old, haunted house where items from the past still happen. She receives a new client and she is hired to get justice for his daughter who was the aide that was killed. The lawyer that was selected to defend the state of Michigan was Michael who believed he was on the path to a partnership. Michael believed that Andrea was so new and he would have no trouble beating her in court. Things did not work out as well as Michael hoped and he discovered that he was no longer on the partnership path but was instead fired. As a result, he let himself take a path getting drunk.

Michael finally was able to pull himself together and decided to open his own firm in a small town. He wound up being a tenant in Andrea's building. Things worked out and he and Andrea soon had a sort of partnership going where Michael was the office manager and the staff was shared. Things were going along well until a new client for Michael was faced with a libel suit. Andrea was not in favor of Michael taking yje case pwn and things and feelings changed. Andrea also began getting clients as a result of her large win in the Michigan case that she won. Soon Amdrea and Michael were once again opponents. As another lawyer, Zack Blake, also had clients for the case that Michael was handling. As a result, Zack and Andrea became a team. Meanwhile Smith Toys also brought Michael's former boss on and Michael was no longer the lead. As time for the case came closer, Michael was pushing for Smith to eventually settle. Because of how Michael's former boss handle the case initially, they were let go and Michael was now the lead.

Read along and discover what amount of time Andrea had to wait for the settlement on her Michigan case to be resolved because of the numerous appeals, how Michael and Andrea friendship was renewed and how Andrea partibipation in the case she was working with Zack om eventually resulted in a settlement. The ending is well done and the conclusion took a long time coming.

Love Hate Law by Mark M. Bello is a gripping legal thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. The book follows Andrea Kramer, a rookie lawyer from small-town Saline, who is tasked with suing the state of Michigan and the former governor after a young woman is trampled to death by rioters during an insurrection at the state capitol. Michael O'Hara, a successful trial lawyer from a silk-stocking defense law firm in Detroit, is assigned to represent the state of Michigan in the same case.

Andrea is a passionate advocate for justice, while Michael is a 'bad-boy' playboy who believes in winning at all costs, ethics be damned. The two attorneys clash from day one, with Michael arrogantly informing Andrea that she's too inexperienced to win the high-profile case. As the case unfolds, the personal and professional effects of one's victory and the other's defeat become apparent, and the question of whether romance can blossom from such troubled roots is raised.

Bello does an excellent job of creating complex and well-drawn characters that readers will root for from the very beginning. The chemistry between Andrea and Michael is electric, and their love story is both passionate and complicated. The legal case at the center of the story is well-crafted and full of twists and turns, keeping readers engaged and invested in the outcome.

Overall, Love Hate Law is an excellent read for fans of legal thrillers. It has everything you could want in a book - drama, romance, and a well-crafted legal case - and leaves readers wanting more. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a gripping and entertaining read.
