So many beautiful libraries highlighted in this book, lots of tips given on how to style and display them.
I feel like this book embodies my Pinterest dreams in a physical print.
I am an avid reader, and while I often read digitally, I make very thoughtful purchases of physical copies of my favorite books. I hadn’t found a cohesive way to display them until seeing all the inspiration on these pages!
Key takeaways that I absolutely loved and now want to use in styling (I will need a bigger house first…).
- Color coding, neutrals, rainbows and monochrome themes that blend seamlessly into decor. This book highlights numerous ways to do this across all spaces and interests.
- Using a terra cotta pot in a plant room as a paper weight to keep a book open - genius!
- I have so. many. house plants, so using books stacks as a decor and risers for potted plants is such an awesome idea that gives more personality to the space.
- Book stacks as tables, stools, etc. Love making collections functional!
I am bursting with ideas for my own home and will proudly display this book on my coffee table, seeing the styling in other people's spaces makes a world of difference.
I also loved all the book recommendations from famous authors. That was a lovely value add to the pages.
This was a perfect coffee table type of book. The pictures were gorgeous and perfectly organized for the different types of book nooks out there. *I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
A beautiful collection of home decor and book nooks. This is the perfect book for bookworms. This showcases all the various ways you could decorate your books around your house and the different book nooks and potential book cases you could design and have. It even includes reading lists from popular authors! This is seriously such a fun book to have and I would absolutely recommend it for bookworms!
*thanks Netgalley and Chronicle Books for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*
This book is gorgeous inside and out. It has beautiful spaces and the ideas of how to decorate each room are beyond inviting. I started dreaming of doing a self -care book room after I saw a section in this resource. The book also featured good information and tidbits from authors! That was a nice bonus. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
This book is so beautiful and so inspiring. Books are a form of art.. and I love to see them displayed as such.
Each nook was styled so beautifully...
I just wish there would have been a better look at children's books/styling. Even middle grade. I have kids that have probably way too many books(if thats a thing lol) I would have loved some better, more updated inspiration for their rooms.
Book Nooks was a great book to see how people display their books. I liked the various categories for kids, cookbooks, etc. I like to organize by color but this also gave me ideas for small spaces.
This book was visually stunning, showing so many creative book spaces. I loved the words too; there was a lot of inspiration for my in my own home. This would make a great coffee table book! It’s gorgeous!
"Book Nooks" is a lovely coffee table book. It holds stunning images of book nooks in various homes and establishments. Eye candy for the book lover! If you are looking for visual inspiration, this book is loaded with it! If you are looking for a step-by-step guide to creating a book nook of your own, this may not be the book you are looking for.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to view this book.
Book porn for book lovers. This was a beautiful book ideal for display among your other books or on a coffee table open to your favorite nook. A great gift for book lovers and readers alike. 4/5
I enjoyed looking at all the different nook ideas. They were creative and polished. I also liked seeing the reading list of each author. I thought that was a nice touch and made it feel more intimate. It made me realize how little I think about color schemes and textures. Although it would have been nice to see more eclectic styles I very much liked all the different ideas that were presented. They were interesting and fun.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.
I can see this book on my coffee table. I’d so refreshing to see a book about books and book organization. My favorite part, other than the pictures, is the book recommendations. It definitely makes for an elegant book to display on the living room.
An elegant collection of photos that show how books really do have a place in every part of your home, no matter your aesthetic or taste. The book is nicely separated into areas of the home (Kids, Garden, Kitchen) as well as color themes (Colorful, Neutral), and so forth. Of course, every area is perfectly beautiful, but that's why you buy this sort of book, isn't it? You want to be able to imagine yourself in that perfect space, soaking up the perfect ambiance. I especially loved all the cozy tucked-away corners with stacks of interesting-looking books (I definitely peered closely at many of the photos to see the book titles!).
Which in fact, leads me to my only small quibble with this book. I didn't care for its tendency to treat books as decor objects rather than containers of content for reference and interaction. For example, they suggest turning your books backward so only the pages show, or covering the entire spines and covers with paper of a certain color/pattern. These are the sorts of ideas that certainly look interesting in an Instagram, but doing these things negates both the identity of the book and the person who wrote it. It just felt a bit odd to include in a book that's all about cozy reading corners. I guess what I mean is: the idea of using books as decor objects seems more appropriate for a design and decor book, not in a book about reading, you know?
Anyway, overall it's a beautiful book and will be a lovely addition to any photo book collection. Also of course a great gift for fellow book lovers. I can think of a few friends I'll be gifting this to, come the holidays.
P.S. I learned that Gillian Flynn and I share FOUR favorite books! The Westing Game, And Then There Were None, The Woman In White, and We Have Always Lived In The Castle.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this eARC for unbiased review. This review will be cross-posted to my social media accounts closer to the book release date, in accordance with the publisher's request.
The photos are lovely, however this is not what I expected. I wanted to see suggestions for cozier book spaces, instead this book has a lot of cluttered ideas. It’s fine if you have the room for random clutter. If you love and collect books, like I do, I wanted suggestions and more of a work around to eliminate the overstacked piles of books.
Otherwise, a pleasant read and nice photos.
Book Nooks- I love the title. The book is sections interestingly, with some sections based on locations and some based on a theme. Interspersed throughout are different peoples recommendations for books to read.
Although a quick read, I was inspired by many of the ideas, and especially slowed down when it got to gardening, my special interest. The pictures are lovely throughout.
A fun collection of creative ideas for book nooks! It's just missing a section for minimalists who hate clutter and love clean orderly lines. Nonetheless, I would recommend this for readers looking to design or update their special reading places.
I love this book sooooo much. Beautifully illustrated, fun to read, filled with great ideas -- the photos and text are magically delicious. For book collectors (like me) this is simply the best gift ever. 5 stars and then some
More like this, please !!!
Do you have a reader in your family? A friend who loves books? Then please run to your nearest bookseller and purchase this book for them, for yourself. What a beautiful overview of how books can transform an entire aesthetic in your home. I particularly loved the section of the book where the author showcases books are objects: particularly side tables and decor. I also love how each section of the book has a "recommended list" based on the topic. For example, in the section devoted to showcasing cookbooks, there was a list of most used cookbooks. The images in this book are breath taking (at least will be for readers), and inspiring. Overall this is a wonderful book that should be a fixture in every home.
Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy! I loved all the spaces with books. The kids and cookbook nooks were my favorite! This book has some great ideas on how to display and store books.
Book Nooks is a delightful gift to anyone who loves books. This creative interior design guide provides inspiration on how to beautify any room in the house with books. The photographs in Book Nooks are gorgeous and the book is a work of art. My favorite feature of the book is the recommended book lists from best selling authors and other lovers of readers. I highly recommend this book and cannot wait to add a copy to my personal book collection.
Thank you to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for an Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Whether a small home library or a collector of volumes, this book is a handy reference and a beautiful book to display. Photos and descriptions help you decide how and where to place books for maximum impact. Although several methods are questionable at best, there is something for everyone here. Enjoyable coffee table book.
I was expecting exciting, innovative bookcases or fresh design options and I don't think that was achieved. Instead, in 'Book Nooks' we have short paragraphs on styles of book nooks and pairing books with color to an artistic aesthetic. Most of this is already in use among Bookstagrammers. I liked the book.
Book Nooks is a must for anyone setting up their home library, or if you're redoing yours, as I am. I found the photography so inspiring and I liked that there was a variety of styles, not just grand home libraries that are unattainable for most people.
This is a great collection of ideas for anyone who loves books and wishes to display them in an intentional, creative manner.
5 stars for the pictures, 3 stars for the rest
The pictures in this book were beautiful! I loved the setups they showcased, and that they weren't just pictures of bookshelves. They were full designs of spaces where books were the highlight, not the main event. I also appreciated that they separated the book into different spaces in a house or type of book you were trying to style (kids' rooms, bar carts, cookbooks, etc.).
That said, there were very few pictures in this book that seemed executable in real life, and the blurbs that accompanied the pictures weren't much help either. One tip said to only have baby books that matched the theme of the baby's room, which seems unnecessarily difficult and kind of defeats the purpose of giving babies books to look at. Another was to install a hanging swing in a kids' room and put stacks of books on the floor underneath it, but anyone with kids knows those stacks would be knocked over immediately, or would be a nightmare to vacuum around if they managed to stay upright.
I also didn't love that the whole book made books look like an accessory or decor versus something to read and enjoy. I don't know any real readers who would make a book nook and then only put neutral-colored books in it, or who only has large decorative/display books versus lots of novels. I'd much rather this be about creating realistic book nooks, where you showcase how beautiful a space can be with books of all colors/shapes/sizes/genres, how they can live together and look beautiful and actually provide you the entertainment you're seeking from reading.
Overall, the pictures were beautiful, and if you're looking for interior design tips on how to use books as decor, this book would be for you. But if you truly love reading and you're trying to figure out how to make your overstuffed bookshelves look stylish, I'd stick to Pinterest or TikTok videos for tips.
The book is full of lots of pretty photos. I enjoyed the photos because I enjoy looking at books, but none of the ideas really seemed like anything particularly special. I was hoping for a bit more inspiration. Random bookstacks on the floor look like clutter and not original. I was hoping for more unique bookshelves and wall designs! Similar to what you can find in different indie bookstores. It’s a fun book, but sadly nothing particularly special about it.
I was excited about this as I’m looking to renovate and I need to create some space for all my books
The photos are great but many of the ideas didn’t really seem practical for me although they do look nice in photos
3.5⭐️
This is a nice coffee table book of book nooks. Some pretty decor, but to be honest I was expecting more books. Many of the pages featured home decor that just happened to include books, not many featured full bookshelves.
Thank you Vanessa Dina, Claire Gilhuly, Chronicle Books, and NetGalley for providing this ARC for review consideration. All opinions expressed are my own.
I loved this book. I love looking at people's bookshelves and seeing all the different types in this book. They are all unique in their own way and I love how the authors took the time to show each shelf in it's own beautiful way
3.5/5 Stars! Thank you, NetGalley and Chronicle Books for this eARC of Book Nooks by Vanessa Dina and Clair Gilhuly.
What a very cute and interesting book. I love the photos of the different style of book nooks that fit your style - of the house and book preference. The photos were beautiful but it didn't seem like how I would or want to have in my house - I think it's also because I have crazy boys who will bulldoze through it or draw in them. Unfortunately, I've minimalized my book shelf and will only borrow/listen to books or purchase them for my Kindle.
Love the pretty photos and ideas but not for us.
There’s little that I love more than a good shelfie. I loved flipping through these pages and getting lots of inspiration
Thank you Chronicle Books and NetGalley for the eARC of Book Nooks! All opinions in this review are my own.
Finally a book that supports my two most important decor questions - "Are there enough books in this room?" and "Will that unused space fit more books?" Jokes aside, this was a really fun book to read with gorgeous pictures. I love that they included famous authors and their top book lists. I was proud that I have read most of Jasmine Guillory's favorite romance books since she is one of my favorite romance writers. I also especially loved the sections Little Free Libraries and Classic Libraries Around the World! This book would be a great gift to any reader or book collector!
I really enjoyed looking through this book of creative ways to use books as home decor. I also enjoyed that book recommendations from various people were included throughout the book. Thank you NetGalley for providing this ARC.
A perfect book of little nooks and various decoration ideas for book lovers. A fun example of ways to utilize a book lovers extensive collection. I found the photos to be vivid and of high quality. I think this would be a great gift for a book lover. This book is a great table book that highlights a persons love for books.
This was a great idea but really, a wasted opportunity. I follow several pages online that are full of book lovers showing off their shelves, and there are so many amazing possibilities.
This book seems to have been written by someone who likes the idea of books as decorations. The photos are lovely, and great care was taken in arranging the books and surroundings to provide a pleasing aesthetic.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
I received an e-book arc from Netgalley. an avid reader, I am constantly on the search for my perfect in home library. While the pictures in this book are inspiring, it is more geared towards interior design and using books to that manner. A nice touch was the complimenting lists in each section from recipes to book recommendations. A nice coffee table book with beautiful pictures, but not a practical guide to book storage for the book hoarders.
Thank you to NetGally for providing this ARC.
This book has so many beautiful book pictures! I got so many ideas on how I can reorganize my current bookshelves and nooks as well as how I can display books in the future. This book has many great categories such as baby and kids so it can give you ideas for many years. I also like that they have lists of some books that authors like scattered throughout the book. This would also be a good coffee table book.
Anyone who is an avid reader loves a good bookshelf picture. And Pinterest has nothing on this is a curated ode to bookshelves! I love it! I came across this book while I am planning out my new office, so many great ideas and takes on book storage to use as inspiration. I also got some read ideas on how to help the kids organize and display their books.
I love looking through design books, so what a treat it was to find one where books took center stage! My home is swimming with books and looking through these photos provided great inspiration for new ways to display and style them. The photos were vibrant and captured various design aesthetics. I particularly enjoyed spotting titles I already have in my home and finding inspiration for new books to add to my collection. The reading lists were a wonderful and unexpected added bonus!
The perfect coffee table book. Love the mix of photos and text, as well as the "Favorite Books" asides.
This book offered several cute ideas for storing your books! I also enjoyed the tidbits that could be made into bookmarks. Thank you for this ARC.
Beautiful book with lovely pictures of books and decorations. This will be a great collectible book. Love the bonus reading lists.
From rainbows to monochrome, home libraries to little free libraries, and mixed with suggested reading lists by genre, this is the quintessential book lovers book!
Thank you, NetGalley for this free e-book featuring cute, cozy book nooks!
I absolutely adore homes with special spots for books, and this book has some great, practical images and ideas for how to create and organize a space in every home. We have pockets around our home where we display books, and this book gave me some ideas of how we can change things up a bit. This was a fun one to look through, and it's something I'll keep coming back to!
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a lovely book that is full of ideas on how to arrange, and decorate with, books!
A mix of book recommendations and ways to display books, Book Nooks celebrates all reading spaces. The photos are beautiful, and they display books in different ways and add to your space using your favorite reads. I love the added book recommendations throughout the book and thought it added a nice touch and added coziness.
As someone with 1100+ books organized by color, I was very intrigued by this book. I love looking at book collections of any kind, and the pictures in this book were so aesthetically pleasing. I found a few ideas for book decor throughout the sections.
I absolutely loved the lists of Author's favorites in the genre they are known for, especially Gillian Flynn.
This book is perfect for book lovers of any kind, but those who consider books as decor will particularly enjoy this collection.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book has some beautiful photos of how to STYLE books as part of your interior design. If you want to add books to up your homes vibes, this is for you. But if you are looking for how to affordably display hundreds of your fanasty and/or spicy books… this will be a little less helpful in that. If really enjoyed the photos and some of the ideas I will be absolutely be adding to my own shelf’s!
This book is pure inspiration and escapism. The pictures transport me to my fantasy of an ideal book nook (paradise!) and, to top it all off, it includes lists of author's favorite books, balancing out the aesthetics (some of which are so visual that the books take 2nd ranking) with actual books to read and enjoy. My favorite images were the ones that married beauty with practicality and comfort (why would you want to read on a hard plastic chair, no matter how color-coordinated it is?).
Book Nooks, by Vanessa Dina and Claire Gilhuly, is page after page of eye candy for any reader. This would make a great gift! And I bet it would be a perfect coffee table book. I am totally going to look for it in bookstores once it's released. Highly recommend!
I enjoy the Book Nooks. It was a great book for those of us who love, collect and treasure books. It was interesting the different interior design elements that work in different home styles. Seeing the different nook, corners and places to make a reading experience more special. It was so sweet to even see how influential the children’s corners and places were so well decorated and styled to a child. I mostly enjoyed being able to see ow books are incorporated into a home that fits your style whether traditional, eclectic or modern. There was something for everyone. I only wished there were more, but I’m a book lover and collector of Literary Fiction and notable books so I am a bit biased towards “show me more”. With that said it’s a great table or .reference book for styling books in a home.
This can be an enjoyable book to flip through and browse, but it isn't very practical. The pictures are usually of lavish homes with high-end interior design, and the tips that people can translate into their own spaces are usually pretty basic, involving different ways to stack books and ways to color-coordinate them. There's not a lot of real advice here, and this is more about decorating with artsy collectible books than about learning how to style and display your personal library.
Love it! This coffee table book is perfect for everyone, especially book lovers and decorating fanatics. Lots of inspiration and some truly Pinterest worthy photos! 😆
This book is a little gem. It is full of fantastic photos of different nooks. Separated into sections such as room type and decorating type, it provides guidance on achieving the nook of your dreams. As a bonus there are famous authors’ list of different recommended books. One example is Gillian Flynn’s Favorite Mysteries. This is a total delight
Book Nooks
Author: Vanessa Dina + Claire Gilhuly
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Love the inspiration from this book! They feature so many fun libraries and ideas on how to organize and style different books. I also really enjoyed the book recommendations sprinkled throughout the book.
Thanks to NetGalley, Chronicle Books, and Vanessa Dina + Claire Gilhuly for an advanced copy of the book. All thoughts in this review are my own.
Book Nooks is a compilation of tips, tricks, lists, and styling ideas to help you display your book collection and other objects beyond the simple bookshelf. The book is split into 13 sections by room (bedroom, kitchen, etc) or interest (think gardening or art) with each section accompanied by a few paragraphs of ideas followed by photographic examples. They’ve also interspersed booklists from noted writers. The photos are beautiful and there are several full bleed double page spreads sprinkled throughout the book. The overall size ( 7.5 in x 9 in) and cover choice seems odd for a coffee table book.
Highlights for me included the pictures of little free libraries, the margarita recipe in the bar cart section, and a list of banned books from Pen America.
While I did make note of a few of the ideas presented, I felt for the most part that they weren’t that groundbreaking. Some of the book nooks included looked like staged vignettes while others were clearly actual homes. I would have loved if the photos of actual real life book nooks had been accompanied by brief quotes from the home owner. Things like why that spot, why those books, why that collection of objects displayed like that? It would have given the whole book a more personal touch.
Overall, it could make a good gift for those who like books about books.
This was a delightful book about “book nooks.” Not only was it full of beautiful pictures, it also had a bunch of suggestions and inspirations about how to get your perfect book corner. If this wasn’t enough to make me squeal with excitement, we also got wonderful reading lists and contributions from authors and bloggers.
Being surrounded by books is my happy place, and this book is definitely a great one for book lovers! Highly recommend!
So much inspo! This book includes stunning photos and endless ideas for displaying books (in libraries, kitchens, bathrooms, kid's rooms, etc.). It feels Pinteresty in the best possible way. A great coffee table book and the perfect gift for any book lover.
Very cozy! I loved seeing all the book nook ideas and found some inspiration for my own. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to view this ARC.
Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC copy!
The photography was very stunning and definitely helped me get more ideas for my own home. I enjoyed reading through this book, but I wish there were more pictures to show examples of what the chapters included (classic, bath, bedside table, garden, art, etc.).
Lovely book with great photos and ideas. Fun to look through and see artsy ways to style books in the home.
If you are looking for full step by step directions on how to create these books this is not the book for you.
Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for the ARC.
This book has great ideas on how to create your own personal book nook. There are a variety of options to choose from, and customization is easy to adapt to your own space. The palattes of books go with themed rooms, whether its the kitchen and cookbooks, or the office armchair and a cozy novel. I would recommend this book for some good project ideas on how to balance your book collection while being creative.
This is 100% my favorite coffee table book. I will certainly buy this and gift to friends. I love the esthetic and mixed in pages with book styling suggestions and favorite reads. This is gorgeous and the perfect bookish esthetic.
I myself am obsessed with book nooks, I want nothing more than to have a lovely spacious house where I can have little book nooks in almost every room. This was such a delight to read and look at all of the different book nook spots, with helpful tips on how to incorporate them in every room.
I love books and love to have them all over. I love how this book helps with ideas on how to make the books a part of the home, instead of just cluttering up your spaces. Great ideas on how to incorporate them, and I loved the photos. Highly recommended. Thank you Netgalley, the author and the publisher for allowing me to read and review.
I enjoy coffee table books. This one is sure to find a favored place in many homes. The cover drew me in and inside, the photos are beautiful. They encourage browsing, whether you have a few minutes or an hour. The text is interesting - you'll explore 13 ways to display your books, whether on the floor, a shelf, or stashed in a little unused space.
There's so much to like about this book. I enjoyed the houses displayed, the reading recommendations shared by well-known authors, and the ideas. What made me smile most was the categories for each chapter - whether that was the kind of person you are or whether you're setting up a bookshelf for others.
If you're into decor or design, make you sure get a copy. It's artsy, classy, and will motivate you to head for your nearest bookstore to pick up some volumes of your own. I loved it.

Book Nooks by Vanessa Dina and Claire Gilhuly is a must have for book lovers (and one that I'd love to have a physical copy of for my coffee table!). The photos are gorgeous and aspirational. The book includes some book nooks in places I wouldn't have considered (but should!) like my bar cart and kitchen. The tips for displaying books were informative and I felt like I learned a lot! The TBR lists by contributing authors were such a nice touch - I am excited to dig into Jasmine Guillory's romance recs!
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy. Such a gorgeous book!
SO CUTE! The photos inspire creativity in all sorts of spaces in your living room, bedroom, bar, and beyond. I love the variety of colors used and the functionality of each of the spaces. This book is the perfect addition to any coffee table or book lover's collection. The book overall is well organized and really if you have a book buying "problem" this will help you justify your next few purchases-- thank the authors later.
This book is filled with pictures of fun book books and gives great tips for anyone as to how to display your books. Whether you collect classics, are a gardener, a cook, or have kids, there are lots of tips and beautiful color photos. I loved these ideas and immediately looked up some of these types of bookcases.
Let’s face it: Professional readers, hobby readers, book bloggers…most of us tend to have a thing for books and anything bookish, and we covet bookshelves, bookcases, and book nooks! So, which of us wouldn’t be enticed to open a book that promises a wealth of bookish displays?
This book is divided by “types” of book nooks, i.e. Bedside, Baby, The Collector, Colorful, etc. Each chapter opens with an introduction to that book nook style and includes tips on how to achieve it in your own home. Each section includes book nook porn interspersed with descriptions of how to achieve certain effects like creating functional book stacks and using color to create a fun space for books and games.
I like the photography and the articles at the beginning of each chapter, but I would like to have seen more pictures of true sitting nooks rather than so many photos of small "nooks" that are just a couple of shelves or a table. And maybe more DIY instructions how to achieve some special effects.
If you've been dreaming of creating your own cozy book nook, whether one to show off to everyone, a cozy nook for your kids, or maybe one tucked away in the corner of your bedroom, this is a great book to give you a little inspiration.
I didn't expect much from this book -- just great pictures of book nooks and a little inspiration --but what I found was so much more. I LOVED that there were book recommendations in different sections, including a focus on diversity. For example, there was a section on rainbow books (a massive favorite of mine; I would rainbow everything if I could!) and in it the authors talked about how rainbow books can be a nod to Pride Month and celebrating LGBTQIA pride. The inspiration part was also incredible and there were many different themes and styles; anyone who loves books could find a book nook they'd want to create. I bookmarked many pages for inspiration and want to create a book nook in every corner of my home with it. This would be an incredible gift for any book lover or especially for a book and design lover like myself. A must buy if you love displaying books!
This is full of stunning pictures of books and bookish aesthetics and I loved it, it features different decor styles and tastes as well as for each room in a house. My favorites are the empty/unused fireplace idea! Overall a fun book and I really enjoyed looking through it.
Thank you to the author and publisher for this arc.
While Book Nooks would make an excellent coffee table book, it’s not a book I would go to for inspiration over and over. Like another reviewer mentioned, I was hoping for calm and cozy, and this is a bit more chaotic and cluttered. But even though the libraries aren’t particularly my style, I can appreciate them nonetheless. 3.5 stars.
I received an advanced copy from netgalley in exchange for a review and opinions are my own.
The book is beautiful but oddly disappointing. This would be a nice coffee table book for your library but if you’re hoping to get real practical ideas for your space stick with Pinterest. I found the kitchen section the most fun, probably since there is vintage Pyrex in the shot.
An interesting book giving you ideas on how to lay out books for visual interest in different parts of the house. Will never do 90% of the techniques because they're more for aesthetics and not for how I would group/lay out my own books - i.e., due to content or use - so your mileage may vary.
The pictures are high quality and I appreciated the text-to-photograph ratio. It was perfect for reading and flipping through, and I particularly enjoyed the book recommendations from authors such as Gillian Flynn and Jasmine Guillory.
I know that this is a design book, and a coffee table book, so it makes sense that it's going to feature similar books, but while this book mentions that one particular person purchased decor items from Target and therefore is budget-friendly, most photographs feature very high-end books (such as Rizzoli editions) and beautiful but albeit highly stylized interiors. They're great for looking at, but actually a little difficult to draw inspiration from for real life. But that's the fun of it, I suppose.
It would have been nice to see a student's book nook, or a librarian's--and not just the upper class's.
Still, it's a fun book to look through.
This was an aesthetic looking and helpful book! It caught my eye as I am a book lover and enjoy seeing how people organize their shelves on Instagram and Youtube. This book was more focused on design than organization, with lots of little tips on how to make your rooms visually pleasing using books.
I liked that the book is organized by type of room, this helped to curate advice and recommend styles for each. I feel it should have been mentioned in the Bathroom section to choose books that you don't mind getting dirty or wet, as the moisture can warp or there are more areas to get the books wet.
I thought it was helpful to have curated lists from prominent authors and celebrities interspersed through the book. There even was a cocktail recipe!
I loved the images included, especially the close ups paired with the chapter introductions. I thought it brought a good starting point for inspiration and illustration of techniques mentioned.
I think the author achieves what they set for the purpose of the book, to inspire and show book nooks in many forms. I will take away some of the tips for my own living spaces.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC of Book Nooks!
I found this at an opportune time since I’m currently between weeks 2 and 3 of my One Room Challenge (aka revamping my home office/hobby room over the course of 8 weeks—weeks 1 and 2 are on my blog!).
Since I love to read, a book nook is a given, so I liked that this included ideas for those with smaller spaces/people who love plants. There are also recommended book lists from popular authors strewn throughout the chapters of this gorgeous book.
That being said, if you’re looking for a guide on how to put together a book nook of your own, I’d recommend to skip this. The theme for this is definitely more so on styling your home/using books as decor + seems to favor form over function (eg stacking books on the ground, stacking them in shelves with the pages facing out, etc), so if the aesthetic is what you’re after, this would be a good one to pick up — otherwise, I’d keep looking. It’d make a good coffee table book too though as the photos are definitely pretty.
Absolutely beautiful! This would be a wonderful coffee table edition to everyone who loves books and has a library or book nook in their homes. The photography is stunning! This book can also be used as inspiration to build a book nook as it contains different styles!
I enjoyed the ideas and book recommendations. I've always wanted my own book nook. I'm not sure that all of the pictures are practical and family friendly but it was a great place to get some inspiration.
Book Nooks is a delightful celebration of creativity and coziness, offering practical tips and inspiration for crafting charming reading spaces. With beautiful photos, imaginative designs, and plenty of inspiration, it's a must-have for book lovers and DIY enthusiasts.
I absolutely loved this book and immediately pre-ordered! This would be the P E R F E C T coffee table book. I love how all the pictures showed books as art with form and function! I am a big fan of looking at books as art and organizing by color and size over than organizing via author or title. The inclusion of popular authors and their favorite books, a list of banned books, and a few cocktail recipes were a nice break up of the picture and write ups!
A must for any lover of books and design! What beautiful book vignettes for all type of spaces, audiences, and genres. Visually inspiring with photos ranging from color, neutrals, cocktails, book recommendations, various lists to add to your home collection - even a section on how to make books in the bathroom visually stunning. Perfect for gift giving to your book loving fashionista friend.
As a book lover I was intrigued by the cover and title. I enjoyed looking at the beautiful book shelves in this book along with tips on how to crest your own book book. There were not a lot of more practical ideas for me personally. But it was pretty to look at
This was really fun to look through! I don't think there's anything super revolutionary in here, but it's a well-put-together collection for book lovers and I could definitely see it being a beautiful display piece. I also loved that the curators chose to include lists of book recommendations from authors across genres—they clearly know their audience!
This book is beautiful and definitely geared more towards visual design over practicality. I'm practicality > visuals so I don't find the information included in this book particularly helpful. I do love looking at books book spaces though. I'd put this on my coffee table to get a conversation going about books and what kind of spaces my company likes.
A beautiful book of inspiring images. The spaces are styled nicely and the images are gorgeous. Photos are interspersed with book lists from notable people, which are entertaining. Honestly there's not much actual advice here, and I was a little disappointed how few books were showcased here. I was hoping to see creative storage for big collections, but the authors define 'nooks' as a little area with some books, rather than a book-lined room. It is very pretty, which is probably enough for most people.
Such a beautiful book! The pictures are stunning and it actually has great book suggestions in it. It is perfect for anyone looking for ideas or just need a book recommendation!
I got access to the advance reader's copy of this book through NetGalley and the cover and title of this book definitely caught my attention. This is a beautiful coffee book which serves as great inspiration for styling books with objects. I love how the table of contents are organized by different Nooks that exist in a household. The creativity is stunning.
This is an excellent coffee table book for a book lover!! A great gift for that book lover who has books stacked all over their house. As someone who loves to drool over strangers bookshelves on Instagram/booktok/Pinterest and has zero knowledge of interior decorating, this book was perfect for me. It had some great tips and unique ideas for those of us that don’t have mansions or fancy art. I really loved the book recs scattered within the photographs and tips from some well-known authors as well!! I only wish it had more pictures of different shelves and color schemes!!
I’ll absolutely be buying this for my future library and reading space.
Love the small spaces and baby/kid sections :)
A lovely glimpse into various book nooks provides inspiration as well as tickling the fancy of book collectors.
This is a beautiful book! I loved the chapter-headers, the recommendations from authors about specific genres - so clever. I can't wait to update my book nooks - lots of inspo in these pages.
This home decor/photography book was like a fancy magazine but modern enough to use as an aesthetic feature in your home. (Unlike outdated magazines. My god how old am I?) My favorite parts of this book were the mini author interviews with book recommendations. This book was filled to the brim with gorgeous book nook photography and styling ideas. Very reminiscent of those home decor and DIY magazines I hoarded as a young adult. (AGAIN with the magazines!) The Bedside section was a personal favorite and one I took the most notes to help in styling my boudoir. There are also a couple fun little recipes sprinkled throughout. Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this soon-t0-be released book! (September 17, 2024!)
I received a copy of this eBook in exchange for a honest review from netGalley.
I loved looking at all the books in various design configurations. My books will never look this pretty nor will they be left on the floor because I have a rabbit and if it's on the floor it's chewable. I did enjoy the list throughout the book by different famous people for books in their area of expertise.
All in all a fun look at ways to display books.
This makes me want to completely tear down my room, start from scratch, and turn the entire thing into the world’s coziest book nook.
This book is such a wonderful visual experience. I can't wait to purchase a hardcopy to have of my own. It has amazing ideas of ways to display and shelve your books organized by color and theme. As a book lover it is delightful to read.
Stunning pictures of inspired shelves. Book Nooks makes me want to rearrange my own volumes. Flipping through the pages and seeing the pictures of artfully displayed books made me happy. I also enjoyed the varied book lists and fun content like a Margarita recipe in the Bar chapter.
This was super cute! If I had a book nook / home library of my own, I would definitely get this for a coffee table or shelf spot! It wasn't quite what I was expecting.
The book nooks are categorized by room type, and then feature some within that style or category. Due to this, there were probably more than expected that didn't really appeal to me or apply to me. I guess that's the fun of a book like this, though. Seeing and appreciating something you wouldn't do for yourself! Or can't afford for yourself lol.
I really liked the recommendations from different notable people within categories, too. I'll definitely have to check out some of the listed recs!
Overall this was a cute, quick read, perfect for your home library.
I love a book about books, made by book lovers for book lovers, & ‘Book Nooks’ by Vanessa Dina & Claire Gilnuly would definitely fall into this category. While I’ve never reviewed a coffee-table style book, I flip through them all the time. I love taking in all of the different ideas & the perspectives of whatever the topic is. And this one was a bit perfectly timed because I am currently adding to my books & overhauling how they’re stored, displayed, & organized.
Coffee-table books can often come across as high-handed & unattainable, but that is not ‘Book Nooks.’ We get to flip through so many different style ideas in all different sized spaces & it shows just how much books belong in every room of your home. You don’t get the “don’t touch my books” type of vibe from these. Instead, you get the “here’s how my books feel like home & how I find my home in books.” It’s a book that doesn’t leave me feeling like I’m somehow displaying my books “wrong.” In fact, it helps you think out of the box by suggesting ideas like displaying books on the floor or displaying them wide open.
There are some extra elements that I really enjoy as well, like the section on Little Free Libraries, the list of Classic Libraries, & the celebrity books lists that are sprinkled throughout, including a Banned Book list (heck yeah!).
If you are reading this review, I would assume you’re a reader. And if you’re a reader, I would tell you to pick up this book one day, flip through the pages, & find the inspiration you might need for your own collection of books.
Calling all bookworms! This carefully curated trove of reading nooks will delight and inspire you. Full of color, shapes, unique design styles, tons of titles and a handful of reading lists from best-selling authors, you might want to clear your schedule to curl up and soak it in.
I received this DRC from NetGalley.
This book does what it says, and shows examples of books styled in different ways. This is probably more useful to those who own books for decor rather than practicality, as the books pictured are generally hardbacks in certain color palettes. There are some general interior design tips also. The photography is nice, and I'm sure it's a good starting point for those looking to style their book collections.
First things absolutely first: thank you to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for a free ARC of Book Nooks in exchange for my honest review!
As a self proclaimed bookworm being surrounded by books is a must for me. They just feel like sunshine for my soul. I've always had a bookshelf or two plus years worth of dreams of my own home library one day....
....and at long last I was able to buy my own home recently with not one, but TWO spare bedrooms. Plenty of space for all the books! That being said I've been searching for inspiration, which made this book have the most perfect timing. I absolutely loved all the different decorating styles and the use of other objects to add a cohesion to the look. The photography was absolutely excellent, as well. Moreover, I loved all the different ways to use all different size spaces to display our beloved books. If anything this book made me see that every single room in my house can have a collection of books to fill the space with magic (which could be dangerous for my wallet, but hey, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it). I also enjoyed the little tidbits from various authors and others in the literary space, as well as the list of some libraries around the world (hello travel ideas!).
I will definitely be recommending this book to anyone who needs inspiration for their own little library....or if nothing else a very awesome coffee table book. Thank you again for the copy!
A perfect coffee table book! I loved the addition of authors’ reading list suggestions.so many cozy looking spaces. I would love to have seen larger collections.
This a cute book that would appeal to book lovers, and would make a lovely gift. The photos are gorgeous. I appreciated the recommendations from top authors sprinkled throughout. Some of the displays are more for show than practical, but still great to look at.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of "Book Nooks" by Vanessa Dina, Claire Gilhuly. All opinions are my own.
This is a great book. very aesthetically pleasing photos. And some great tips for organizing and displaying my book collection.
The pictures in this book are outstanding and I gained a few ideas to use books as display in my own home!
This isn’t the type of book that I normally review but as an avid reader I felt drawn to it. The pictures are gorgeous and it offers a variety of ways to decorate a house using books. Some highlights for me were functional book stacks, small spaces, and book crafts. I also enjoyed the blurbs and book recommendations from authors. I was a little surprised that a few of the ideas were out of the norm in impractical ways, such as the section on books in the bathroom. I was also hoping for more ideas on how to make a cozier book space. All in all this book delivers on interesting ideas and lovely photography, so it would make a nice coffee table book!
I will be posting this review to socials closer to the release date, as requested by the publisher.
Thank you to Netgalley and Chronicle Books for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
What a gorgeous collection of book nooks.
I loved how there was something for everyone, some even broken down by chapter.
And the authors favorites was a classy touch!!!
Some of the nooks weren't for me, but it was interesting to see how others may showcase them.
I especially loved the built in shelves .. magnificent!!
Great coffee table book
This would be a great coffed table book for a book lover. It's a fun look at different spaces for storing books in a beautiful or functional way. I expected to see more larger spaces, but this was enjoyable too. It also includes some suggested book lists from well-known authors.
Thank you to #NetGalley and #ChronicleBooks for a free copy of #BookNooks by Vanessa Dina and Claire Gilhuly. All opinions are my own.
A beautiful book gorgeous photography great ideas on decorating with books. I enjoyed looking at the way people set up and decorated with their personal library.#netgalley #chroniclebooks
Those who enjoy scrolling through sites to see other people's bookshelves will certainly enjoy this photo book.
While the photography and setups throughout are quite nice, everything felt a bit too austere for my taste. To me, the title Book Nooks implies that cozy reading spots will be featured. The content instead focuses on display shelves of books. The spaces are not lived in, which is made apparent by the recommendation to display themed books in a nursery.
The lists of author's book recommendations and round up of Little Free Libraries at the end was very nice.
Who wants a coffee table book about book shelves? ME!!!!
Despite being beautiful to look at, it's filled with guest authors from chefs, to self help writers listing some of their favorite books, including Alex Elle, Jasmine Guillory, Julianna McIntosh, and more!
Whether you want to find a place for your kids books, your cook books, for small spaces, for collectors, or for your bedside, this has everything. I'm so happy to be able to read this in advance. The only thing I'm missing is the physical hard copy which I plan on buying!
As an avid book lover, I spend a lot of time and have a lot of pride in my book shelves and book designs, meticulously integrating beloved titles and gorgeous spines in my home decor. This book was inspiring and made my heart ache with happy. There were even book suggestions by well-known authors, and the best part: B E A U T I F U L photos! A book nerd’s dream come true.
I’ll be adding this to my collection near my plants and antique cameras! Run don’t walk. Get your hands on this title!
A fantastic coffee table book! It's so interesting to see how they create cozy, gorgeous, unique book nooks in different / unexpected sections of the home - bathroom, baby, cookbook area. Also unique is the different types of people whose book dens they exhibit - the collectors of books, the gardener with books incorporated in their plant full home. Good as a flip through, coffee table book.
This book was not exactly what I was expecting, and I'm okay with that. I was expecting to see the white shelves and rainbow sorted shelves that are popular on Bookstagram and BookTube. Nope! These shelves are more styled and tie into themes of the rooms they are housed in. One of my favorite ones was a little stack of books where we are told to stack books up at different heights. Now when I do this I am called a book hoarder.... lol
But yes, Book Nooks gives readers tips and hints on what to do with their books to make a cute display. Also included are author or other industry related people's picks on specific subjects. I do wish we could have been given a glimpse of their individual bookshelves or reading spaces. Even still, much enjoyed.
As a book lover who likes to be surrounded by books, this was a fun book. It inspired me to try out a few new things with my book organization.
BEST. COFFEE. TABLE. BOOK. IMAGINABLE.
Beautiful graphics, blurbs from authors, inspiration galore - this book is a hit. I’m buying it for every person I know that owns a house. If you aren’t a reader, this book will make you wish you read!
Book nooks indeed! Thirteen chapters of innovative ideas, from classic to small space to bathroom to bar to kids to simply colorful. The emphasis on 'books as decor' is less than helpful - for me, anyway...I'm more interested in practical matters such as can I find what I want quickly? In general, though, worth a look. Among my favorite ideas were the classic built-ins (of course), a window bench with a shelf underneath, and a converted armoire with bookshelves and a seating area for kids.
"Book Nooks" offers a variety of ideas for storing books in different rooms of your home. While some ideas may not appeal to everyone (stacking books in fireplaces or displaying them spine in/pages out), the book provides nice pictures for a lot of different situations.
The section on little libraries stood out to me as the best. Overall, the suggestions tend towards a more disheveled look than what I prefer, and feature a lot more general shelves than what I would consider a book nook. However, if you like scrolling Pinterest for home inspiration and are an avid reader, I think you will certainly find some inspiration within its pages.
Thank you to Chronicle Books and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book.
This was such a perfect find when re-modeling my reading area. It was great to see the different designs, as well as learning how to execute them.
The photography in this book is absolutely gorgeous!! Enjoyable explanations as to the the thought process behind the styling. However, this is most definitely a book about book styling and not one about setting up functional book nooks for readers. There are books placed spine-side in (though, it is mentioned to not style this way if you need frequent access to the books), and worst is the books stacked on the staircase. Beautiful, yes, but quite the tripping hazard. Overall, a nice book to look though or maybe reference for styling photography sessions.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for access to the e-ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Thank you to Chronicle Books and NetGalley to granting me access to this digital book in exchange for my honest thoughts!
I loved leafing through these pages of beautiful book nooks of all different shapes, styles, aesthetics, and colors. It really shows how books not only are enjoyable to read, but enhance visually and artistically any place they are in.
As a person who decorate with all my bookshelves, this book was definitely one I would want on my coffee table.
My favorite part was that they included a section about little free libraries. I love LFLs and glad they get some recognition!
This is a great guide to book nooks and how to set them up in your space. From classic book nooks to creative ones inspired by color or gardening, this has every possible plan you can think of.
Book Nooks by Vanessa Dina and Claire Gilhuly is the perfect coffee table or decorative book but so much more. Great depictions of gorgeous ways to utilize space and color throughout. A spectacular gift for the book lover in your life. Such a beautiful book. I'm planning to buy a copy when it is released.
This book was cute comprehensive overview of all the ways you could display your own book nook. If you need some ideas you should check it out.
Thank you Netgalley for a chance to take a peek at this book.
3/5 stars
Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers, and Vanessa Dina and Claire Gilhuly for allowing me to read and review this book.
This is a cute and informative book on different types of book nooks, tips on organizing them, and reading lists from different authors. It gives a lot of recommendations on what to stock your shelves with based on your favorite authors and types of books.
This is a good coffee table book for any book lover's home. It has a lot of cute pictures within and lists of book recommendations. Any book lover would benefit from having this coffee table book in their home.
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for a review.
This book is definitely #aspirationgoals. It's the perfect coffee table book for bibliophiles and full of ideas and filled me with so many plans for my own home library. I loved the images within this book and it was a joy to flip through and look at the various reading lists and ideas for things I could do. I loved this!
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read the ARC for this book. This book provides the reader with a lot of inspiration for how to arrange and feature books in aesthetic ways.
This book had some beautiful pictures of book displays and shelving. I love how it as broken up by category Children’s, Cookbooks, etc. The book also included some fun list of books to read and libraries to visit. I enjoyed the book and pictures but I as anticipating more of a “how to” and book decorating advice than finished project. Thank you to NetGalley and Chronicle books for an advanced digital copy.
Book lovers, this one is for you. This beautiful title explores, and inspires, all the ways you may creatively incorporate literature into your daily living spaces.
My favorite aspect about this reading experience was its unique, yet practical perspective: books are beautiful and meant to be enjoyed, both for story and for visual appeal. A book collection's visual aesthetic can amplify the look and feel of any space you are looking to design, and can help create enticing reading spaces (that ultimately lend to a cozier, comfortable living experience). The photography is lovely (very inspiring!) and perfectly illustrates the written content.
Highly recommend for bibliophile gift-giving or to get inspired for a rejuvenating weekend project.
I loved every minute of reading this book. It's not only about creating book nooks in your home but is a celebration of reading. As an avid reader and book collector I found so many good ideas to set up little book nooks all throughout my house. From unusual things to use as "bookshelves" to unique ways to display and orient books. There were tons of ideas for how to intermingle other objects into your book nook. This book is a must read for anyone with lots of books who's looking for ways to display their books in a unique ways or unusual places in your home.
The title as well as the cover image made me assume this book would be about creating small but creative spaces in your home to read. Rather, the book was more about displaying books, either in creative groupings, in stacks to hold other items, or within unique bookcases. Therefore, I was a bit disappointed but still liked flipping through the images.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book!
I absolutely loved these photographs! The pairing of gorgeous aspirational (and occasionally attainable) book nooks for every room in the home with matching lists of books to read was... well, lovely. I want my husband to look at this and help me figure out how we could turn some lesser used areas in our home into book nooks for me and my son! Especially loved the idea of books absolutely everywhere- which is my life now as it is, just without such pretty photos and arrangements,
I love the inspiration, photography, and styling. I wish there was more to see to get a wider range of styles and maybe budgets.
When people get to know me and learn of my passion for books, they imagine my home to look like the pages in this book. I wish!!
After reading and admiring the ideas from cover to cover, I am inspired to at least have a couple areas resemble the photos.
I know many authors and fellow book lovers and I look forward to gifting them this book over the holidays.
The reading lists are great fun too!
*I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*
Look, if you want to know the way to a bibliophile's heart, this it. These book nooks made my book loving heart so happy! There was such a sense of comfort and home from reading this book and the pictures were so beautiful. There were lists inside as well from best selling authors of books that might interest you and quotes as well. Overall, it is just a charming book that I would love to have on my shelves I recommend this book to everyone!! 5 out of 5 stars.
This would make an excellent coffee table book for any book lover. The photos were gorgeous. I say coffee table book because it was mostly stylized book photos as opposed to an informational "how-to" on creating a book nook.
The book is very aesthetically pleasing for book lovers and I love that they also had book recommendations. This would be a fun book to have out for guests to look through.
This is a gorgeously photographed title that marries my top favorite things books and design. I may have read that book collections sell houses
and having moved frequently I always enjoy hearing about readers who move large collections at no small expense.. Beautiful gift for book and design lovers will be ordering some hardcovers for sure.
This is the perfect coffee book table for fellow book lovers! This book was full of stunning photographs and inspiration to how I would like to design my future book nooks, bookshelves, and living spaces.
I LOVE a good book organizing guide and this is more than that. it gives insight to how to use different types of spcaes for books, how to add a little bit of color into your space, and even author's favorite types of books per theme of the section (e.g. for the cookbook section, there was a list of staple cookbooks to include in your space). I like it, it does remind me that I am maybe not as sophisticated as this book wants to cater to. In other words, I am definitely not the audience of this book since my shelf isn't full of nonfiction like only showed in this book.
This is such a fun coffee book for book lovers! It was enjoyable to flip through and see the different inspirations for styling books in your space. I think I may have enjoyed it even more if there was more innovative recommendations but none the less it makes for a cute gift.
This is a quick "read" book of lovely pictures & ideas about home libraries - some more so than others. Good inspiration for my own home & recommend for the HGTV crowd. My thanks to Net Galley & the publisher for the complimentary DRC - enjoyed looking at it!
Excellent and interesting title on how to store books but also about books as well. A nice read for any interiors person or someone who likes books and looking for ways to style them!
A delightful coffee-table worthy book about, well, book book design! I appreciated the various approaches talked about, but found some of it repetitive. I loved that small spaces and Little Free Libraries were their own moment! I would enjoy looking through these photos the most and wouldn’t mind a few more! Overall, a fun escape and a touch of inspiration.
Thank you NetGalley, Chronicle Books, and authors Vanessa Dina and Claire Gilhuly.
Pros: As someone who loves books and readings, it is so much fun to learn about how others incorporate books and reading into their lives and homes. I loved having a peek into the homes of others to see where and what they read. The photography throughout was fantastic, and although I don't love grouping books by color in my home, it looks stunning in photos. I also appreciated the reading lists shared in this book (especially Gillian Flynn and Jamise Harper's lists!) and added several books to my to read list. This book will be a fantastic book for book lovers.
Cons: None that I can think of.
Thank you to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for the opportunity to read this book.
This book is so beautiful that it should be on the photographed shelves you will find in the book itself (see the suggestion on page 16).
There is so much to find in this volume that you will be browsing the pages for quite a while. Not only are there gorgeous, designer arrangements of books that make them literal eye candy but you will find lists of book recommendations from some of today’s beloved authors.
I adored some of the suggestions that I never considered before for my own personal reading nooks, such as keeping a favorite poetry book by your bedside for a quick read before sleeping or after waking up.
The only thing I felt might be missing are some photographs of book nooks of notable people. For example, wouldn't it have been fun to see how some book club leaders choose to display their beloved collections?
A huge thank you for my e-ARC, which was provided by the publisher and the author via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Would I read it again?
Yes, there is far too much to see only going once through it.
Would I recommend it?
Yes, I think book lovers and designers will really enjoy it.
I’m not usually one to read coffee table books, unless you consider flipping through a few pages to look at the pictures as reading. However, "Book Nooks" was a different story (pun intended). As an avid reader, book hoarder, and new homeowner searching for bookshelf inspiration, I found myself captivated by many of the pages in this book.
"Book Nooks" provides beautiful photos for inspiration, explains different styles in various spaces, and offers suggestions for bookshelf styling, particularly for bookworms whose shelves aren't yet overflowing. As a bonus, the book features recommendations from well-known authors such as Gillian Flynn and Jasmine Guillory.
While I thoroughly enjoyed looking through this book for inspiration and plan to use some of the shelf styling tips, I did find some of the suggestions a bit unimaginative. For instance, many of the photos featured different book stacks, which (in case you don't already know) can be bad for book spines.
Overall, "Book Nooks" is a delightful resource for anyone looking to enhance their bookshelf aesthetics, despite a few repetitive ideas.
I love the pictures and the ideas are super creative, but I don't know how practical most of these would be. I don't think I would ever organize my books like this, but it was so much fun to read and see the ideas.
4 stars
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an early copy of this book.
There was a lot more text than photographs which I wasn’t anticipating. If anything, this was more of a how-to interior design guide.
I do like the recommended reading list, but not every chapter has a list.
I don’t understand why the Colorful and Neutral chapters weren’t at the beginning. It broke up the flow.
The photos and book arrangements are gorgeous but mainly based on spine color; not how I usually organize my books. Loved the suggestions for younger readers since they're often overlooked. I absolutely adored the wardrobe turned into a reading nook. On the whole, very inspiring.
This book is a great coffee table book for bibliophiles! There is lots of inspiration for all types of personalities. There are ideas for color coded and subject-aligned; Stacks vs. shelves; and different rooms. Whether you are looking for inspiration for a design or daydreaming for the future you will love flipping through the pages and pages of beautiful photography. There is even inspiration for Little Free Libraries!
Also paired with the design inspirations are book recommendations from authors, advocates and others in the book universe. Special shoutout to fellow Bookstagrammer and author of Diverse Spines, Jamise Harper, for her awesome book recommendations being featured.
Beautifully colored images and great idea designs to help you create a warm rich inviting atmosphere to read and display your books and memorabilia! There’s lots of style and functionality but also a flair for sophistication or even a very homely feel. My favorites are the all wood bedroom bookshelves with the cozy fireplace and the PRINCE nook! 4stars! 5 stars for the photography!
Beautifully photographed and well-curated collection of style and inspiration for every room and book lover. I enjoyed the thoughtful details, like the lists of favorite books that were sprinkled throughout. While the focal point is books, I found tons of design inspiration from each photograph and section. Well done! Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to review an ARC.
I am both a huge fan of reading and a huge fan of collecting books, so using books as decor is one of my favorite things and I always beeline toward bookshelves when I visit someone else's home. This book is a fun look at how books can be both functional and stylish. Full of styling tips, space maximizing tricks, and book recommendations from some famous contributors (Hi Jasmine Guillory!), this book is so much fun to flip through and would be a great resource if you're looking for inspiration. I particularly enjoyed the section on incorporating books into a baby's room, because those photos were just too sweet! If you're a book lover/collector or are buying for one, I'd definitely recommend this book!
'Book Nooks' by Vanessa Dina and Claire Gilhuly was a delight to read. The pictures were thought-provoking for those looking for a way to display their books. Broken into sections, there were great suggestions for collectors of books. The section on Cook Book nooks was enlightening for this reader, as I am certain other readers will be inspired by other headings. Of particular delight was the inclusion of the popular authors' books lists such as Gillian Flynn's list of her top ten Favorite Mysteries. The addition of the lists will inspire readers who are drawn to specific genres to mentally compare their lists. 'Book Nooks' is sure to be an enticing reader to book lovers who often wonder how they can display their tomes.
Thank you to Chronicle Books LLC and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this arc in return for an honest review.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in return for an honest review!
As an avid bookworm, I fantasize about designing book nooks all the time, so I appreciated this book. It includes many helpful suggestions about how to store book for specific aesthetics (e.g. classic, modern, surrounded by plants, etc) and constraints such as limited available space. I learned some useful tips I plan to put into action and felt inspired by all the bookishness. Some nooks I thought were incredible- book nook built into a wardrobe à la Narnia (page 70)?? Genius. The kids’ book nook section was definitely the most creative and inspiring. While many of the featured book nooks were simple and plain, I appreciate how accessible these nooks are, as I don’t have a huge budget.
That said, the photographs and featured book nooks were pretty average. I liked some of them but would be unlikely to revisit them or display an open page of this in my home. There were some book nooks featured that weren’t very charming at all- the poor books squished into a fireplace on page 28 with their pages facing out rather than their spines, for instance. The small text size was a little difficult to read in ebook format- it’s possible this isn’t a problem in print format.
This is every bibliophile's guide to creating their own book nook at home or anywhere. The book is packed with real life photos letting us see just how the inspirations look. It gives ideas for creating a book nook in so many areas like small spaces, kids rooms and even in the kitchen. I loved that the book also showed ideas for little free libraries, I have always wanted to create one. I like how detailed the author is about ideas and creations. You are sure to be inspired by this book. I can’t wait to create my own nooks at home.
Beautiful photos of ideas to organize your book nook. They give a multitude of ways of organizing your space and include plenty of pictures for any and all spaces available and ways for it to be organized and look chic.
SUCH A FUN BOOK! I love books and have so many and this was just darling. It'd be a great coffee table book and it gave me so many ideas for what to do with my books.
Book lovers, this one is for you. This beautiful title explores and inspires creative ways to incorporate literature into your living spaces. The stunning photography offers plenty of ideas for #bookstagram photos, showcasing the elegance books can bring to any home.
While visually appealing, many of the ideas are impractical for actual readers. Suggestions like stacking books on kitchen counters or placing them under bathroom planters may look lovely but can damage the books. The designs seem catered more to those wanting to appear well-read rather than true bibliophiles.
In conclusion, this coffee table book is a visual delight and a great source of inspiration for home decor. Just be mindful of the practicality if you truly cherish your books.
Cute as a light coffee table book. I feel that our aesthetic seeking customers will enjoy this one. Will definitely be a nice display. There wasn’t much more to add to the text, but a few more photos, especially of bookshops or libraries, would’ve given it a bit more presence.
What can I say? It's a book about books and spaces to read books! Lots of inspiring ideas to turn just about any space into a cozy book nook and really nice pictures. I definitely reccommend it to anyone into interior decorating or anyone who's just looking to transform a space in the name of books.
A visually pleasing book perfect for display. The homes and book nooks pictured are very diverse in style, beautiful, and aesthetically pleasing, and each section featured a famous author's reading list on a given topic (i.e. cookbooks, mystery novels), which was truly interesting! Some of the recommendations for books felt a bit bizarre, such as organizing books in a nook in a zig-zag pattern with the pages facing out, rather than the spines? The author noted that this wouldn't work for books that you want to access frequently, but at least for me reading frequently is the only reason I would buy a physical copy, so it didn't seem quite practical! Additionally, I felt that the book lacked a section for more minimalist collections/displays--the categories and photographs often focused on very maximalist, object-heavy displays. This book is great for the book-lover-slash-interior-design-aficianado!
A beautiful book with room by room book books! Also some curated book lists by notable authors. Very well done...I'm inspired to recreate some of these in my home.
Thank you NetGalley and Chronicle Books for the arc of "Book Nooks" by Vanessa Dina and Claire Gilhuly.
Lovely pictures with inspiring text. I tried a few of these suggestions in my home and they looked great.
So much inspiration and love of the physical book, and not just for reading. Would make any bibliophile want to go out and buy more books to redecorate their house. Then read more. Lovely photos and great book suggestions. It would be a nice addition to any library public or personal.
I found this book very informative and interesting. The photos were very helpful and gave me some great ideas on how to display my books in an aesthetically pleasing way. I would definitely recommend this book for people who are interested in displaying their books or redecorating a room!

Surprise surprise.
I came here for the book nooks, and was only expecting information and tips about them, which I would have been happy with, but this book being a nook of Chronicle nooks, I mean books, it is a nice nook - of course it comes with insights.
I ended up liking the book suggestions, tips by the nook owners/designers more than the looks of the book nooks.
The photos and designs are great, 80% to my liking, but I liked the content a bit more.
What a fantastic little read!! Not only does Book Nooks help set the imagery for maximizing spaces, it also draws on color, function and feeling of a space. The way Vanessa Dina and Claire Gilhuly were able to include books in some of the nooks is how I knew this was a collaboration by true book lovers, for book lovers. Loved it, buy it, utilize it!!
Thank you Chronicle Books, Vanessa Dina & Claire Gilhuly for the eArc of Book Nooks!!

Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the advanced readers copy of this publication.
I came away with so many great ideas on how to use my collection of books. Now I wont limit them to just bookshelves. I will be able to put them in nooks in every room in my home. To enjoy whenever I feel the need.
This publication might even find its way into my collection.
📚 PRE-PUBLICATION BOOK REVIEW 📚
Book Nooks By Vanessa Dina & Claire Gilhuly

📚MY REVIEW:
I requested this book from NetGalley because I love seeing how other readers create aesthetically pleasing displays of their books in cozy & peaceful reading areas within their homes. If you are longing to redo your book nook, you do not want to miss this one!
The chapters are filled with beautiful, full-color photos of book storage and accompanying decor. Each chapter offers design ideas for different spaces in your home -- everything from kids' rooms to small spaces to kitchens to bathrooms (yes, your bathroom). There are chapters that include ways to incorporate your other hobbies into your book displays too, i.e. for artists or gardeners.
What I especially loved were the reading lists within the book from some notable names: Gillian Flynn offered a list of her favorite mysteries. Alex Elle gave the reader a list of her most trusted books about healing and self-love. Jasmine Guillory shared a list of must-have romance novels. There were recommendations about cocktail books, diverse stories, and even a list of banned books.
This book was so much more than just a big book of pretty photos (though it certainly WAS!). I mean, don't get me wrong...Some of the pictures of these cozy book nooks had me drooling and low-key envious. But the book also offered suggestions and examples about how to create pleasant ways to show off your books...and how to incorporate your books into unexpected places in your home.
This gorgeous coffee table book of inspiration is the PERFECT gift for your Book Bestie -- and a perfect gift of inspiration for yourself too! ❤️ A huge thank you to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for gifting me this advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!

Such a beautiful book! The photos were dreamy and the comments from authors was such a nice surprise.
As a self-proclaimed bookworm, I obviously had to check this out. I'm obsessed with seeing people's bookshelves and I just loved flipping through this book. The overall design of the book is beautiful and I already want to reorganize and style my own bookshelf again! I definitely recommend this book for book lovers, interior designers, and anyone else who enjoys looking at aesthetic bookshelves!
Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for providing an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
For anyone who finds solace and inspiration in the pages of a book, *Book Nooks* is an absolute treasure. This delightful home décor book marries the charm of literary spaces with innovative design ideas, offering readers both a visual feast and practical tips for creating their ideal reading nooks.
At its core, *Book Nooks* is a celebration of the art of incorporating books into home décor. The book draws from the aesthetic appeal of Jane Mount’s *Bibliophile* and the chic styling of Emily Henderson’s *Styled*, blending these influences into a guide that’s as inspirational as it is informative. The result is a beautifully curated collection of cozy, stylish, and imaginative spaces that cater to every reader’s dream.
The book’s pages are filled with lush photography showcasing a range of book-related setups—from opulent home libraries to whimsical reading corners designed specifically for children. Each space is thoughtfully decorated with elements that enhance the reading experience, whether through plush armchairs, elegant bookshelves, or charming objets d’art.
One of the standout features of *Book Nooks* is its versatility. It caters to various tastes and home aesthetics, presenting ideas for every room and style. Whether you’re interested in creating a sophisticated library with leather-bound classics, organizing a vibrant, color-coded shelf, or setting up a cozy cookbook corner in the kitchen, there’s something for everyone. The book offers practical advice on how to achieve these looks, making it accessible to both seasoned decorators and those new to styling their spaces.
The inclusion of reading lists from notable figures such as Gillian Flynn, Jasmine Guillory, and Nik Sharma adds an extra layer of value. These recommendations provide inspiration for not only curating your bookshelves but also expanding your personal reading list. It’s a thoughtful touch that connects the visual appeal of the spaces with the joy of discovering new books.
The physical presentation of *Book Nooks* is as appealing as its content. The book is elegantly designed with a tasteful hint of gold foil, making it a beautiful addition to any coffee table or bookshelf. Its sumptuous packaging also makes it an ideal gift for the book lover, designer, or creative person in your life.
Overall, *Book Nooks* is more than just a décor guide—it’s an invitation to transform your living space into a haven for book lovers. With its rich imagery, practical advice, and inspiring ideas, it’s a must-have for anyone looking to create a personal sanctuary where they can curl up with a good book and feel truly at home.
The book lives up to its title - cozy vignettes and lots of books! As a person who reads a lot and owns a lot of books I appreciate the different approaches to storage and display. Definitely will be taking some inspiration and practical application from this home decor book. I only wish I had a physical copy of this book to flip through. Would make a nice gift for the avid reader (book hoarder 😅) in your life.
I thought this was a lovely coffee table book with beautiful photos. As a bibliophile, I felt some of the design recommendations were meant more to use books for aesthetic reasons, rather than to showcase your library. However, I think readers will enjoy looking at the photographs and may get some design ideas.
I enjoyed this book. It is inspirational for setting up my own library, which I'm in the process of doing in a spare bedroom. The pictures are lovely and the writing isn't setting the world on fire, but it's good food for thought. I'm a bit of a minimalist, so my books are contained to one book case, so I'm not inspired by the pics of an overwhelming collection, but I like working in plants and other items that would add to the look of the shelves and the end table.
Looking for creative ways to use books to decorate your home? I highly recommend Book Nook: Inspired Ideas For Cozy Reading Corners & Stylish Book Displays by Vanessa Dina and Clare Gilhuly. Book Nooks is a wonderful book full of illustrations and suggestions on how to use books to decorate your home. The authors have created several unique ways to use books such as creating a book display in a bathroom. Another one was a display or gardening books with plants. My personal favorite was using books to create a table. Several of the sections include a list of suggested books. Finally, a section on little free libraries and classical libraries around the world is included.
Book Nook is a great coffee table book to give to book lovers and decorators!
I like pictures of books, and that's pretty much all this is. It's not going to give you inspiration for your own home. The books are either in very specific architectural features that you almost certainly don't have, or are artistically piled on the floor which you presumably already know how to do. The photography is nice; this is just more in the vein of eye candy than of helpful design ideas.
Book Nooks was fine. This may be very much a YMMV, as in I was looking for cute cozy ideas for the books I like enough to own, not stylish display of random old books. This leaned much more on the fashion/ style side, than on the book lover side, in my opinion, and I really didn't get much out of it. But for folks with a more similar aesthetic, I'm sure it would be much more useful and enjoyable. Meanwhile I shall continue my quest for a book that shows how to do cozy book nooks with books you actually want to read.
Thanks anyway to Chronicle Books and #Netgalley for allowing me access to an advanced digital copy of #BookNooks .
I love the idea of this book even if the practicality of it is a little iffy. It's a gorgeous coffee table book for people who love interior design and books. The layouts are eye catching and pleasing, which minimalists and people who have collections they'd like to display are bound to find appealing. As a maximalist with tons of trinkets and little space, I likely won't try any of these ideas though.
This is probably my new favorite book. The photographs are stunning and I love that it lists some of my favorite authors and celebs and their favorite books. It has a variety of styles and spaces, and it's sure to have something for everyone. It is so inspirational, and I can't wait to redecorate my book nook spaces!
Not only is Book Nooks: Inspired Ideas for Cozy Reading Corners and Stylish Book Displays a good book for you to show that you love and collect books, but it also gives you great ideas on how to display the books you have. I’m at that point where I am quickly running out of room in my library, but this book gave me some great ideas for creating displays of my books in my home. I am now running around, relooking at nooks, crannies, and unused shelf space around my house.
This is a cute book with some good ideas for book storage and home decor. I admit, some of these I looked at and thought, "I couldn't pull a book out without them tumbling all over" which sort of defeats the purpose from my point of view. I love that this book talks about color, space, and balance in addition to addressing small areas and parts of the home you don't usually associate with books.
This is great inspiration for decorating with books. I love the creative ideas for arranging books in your home. It's pleasing and soothing to the eyes! What makes this a great coffee table book is that it's colorful and the shelves are so well ordered with lots of variety to try.
I once organized several bookshelves in our computer room/ office. They were like sideways and standing up, alternately. It was gorgeous! I came back later , and my husband had reorganized all the books into alphabetical order and all on end! Very boring and ordinary. My artistic panarama of books display was bugging him.
He uses that room all the time. Yet never reads any books! What?
This book gives me the courage and ideas to go at it again. Love this book!
I really was excited by the cover picture. I was a bit disappointed in the suggestions. The photos were beautiful, but I felt the book ideas were just a bit repetitious piles of books in different places and often not practical. Just a pile of books decorated with other objects around them to create a romantic vignette. Sorry this book was full of beautiful pictures, but not great ideas that would work for me.
Like many readers, I love not just reading books but looking at them, so the idea of a book about books as decor I just loved. And indeed there are some great photos and ideas in this book. I do like the breakdown in the book of different types of areas in a house and different methods of using books as decor in those places. And while the pictures were great, there are instances of descriptions without pictures and I would have appreciated more photos. Really enjoyable, soothing book to look at with some great ideas included.
This is a fun coffee table book for book lovers! Beautiful pictures to flip through to see how others style their books in their living spaces. Perfect to display at book club meetings and gatherings.
This is a book lover's dream! So many beautiful photos of book collections and reading spaces. It would make a wonderful coffee table book.
What a fun read! Book Nooks is a great gift to yourself or any book lover in your life. There’s inspiration for what you want to create for yourself or daydream about. This was a fun one and I can’t wait to get hard copy.
Calling all booklovers! Do you love the book aesthetic? Do you want to incorporate more books into your home? Do you want to know how to style all the books in your home? All of these are great reasons to read Book Nooks! I love how the author organized the sections and how there are snippets from some very notable authors in each section. It's not only an enjoyable read through with gorgeous photography; it's a great coffee table book.
This is a nice little book of book porn. It's organized by room and then by hobby/profession and finally provides ideas on organizing books colorfully or in more neutral palettes.
I loved all the gorgeous photos of book nooks and creative ideas, although I'd leave the books out of the bathroom (eww, germs) and skip the little stool made out of books in my own home.
Interspersed throughout are other famous people's favorite books, listed by genre. I enjoyed these lists the most and now have several on my TBR list. The only list I took issue with was The Most Recommended Diverse Spines. The list is only about and written by black people, primarily black Americans. Black does not equal diversity. Black people deserve to have their voices heard but so does everyone else who is not black or white or from the States.
I loved the addition at the end of the book on little free libraries!
Overall, this would be a great addition to your coffee table or own book nook.
Thank you Chronicle Books and NetGalley for the ARC!
As reader with dreams of the perfect book nook, this was a fun book to read. It includes to many great ideas for how to shape the perfect space for all design interests and has inspired me to craft a space for myself. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

This is a unique perspective for keeping, organizing, and displaying books. I have a traditional library with a variety of genres. I sort alphabetically by author but love the idea of sorting by color and size. The inclusion of reading lists by well-known contributors is appreciated. I found that I have similar tastes with Gillian Flynn. The books in the fireplace were unusual since you cannot see the titles, but I like the way it looks. I love the photographs and the different use of books for tables and as props. I absolutely love the reading space in the armoire. Creating a mini free library for your community is a wonderful concept. I was happy to see a reading list of banned books. If you love books and want inspiration, this is a great book.
This book was a lot of fun and inspired me to up my own book nook game! I really enjoyed seeing the examples and will use them to make my own space a more fun place to be.
Book lovers who wonder where to put their volumes will, I think, swoon over the photos in this title. This is a book that lets the observer feel like a voyeur as they witness the many ways in which books are arranged in people’s spaces.
In addition to looking at different types of nooks, for example those for kids or traditional libraries or small spaces, there are also other tidbits. One of the first of these, for example, details Gillian Flynn’s Favorite Mysteries. To whet your appetite I note that she likes Case Histories and The Westing Game, among others. Another of these lists is Jasmine Guillory’s Must Have Romance Novels. She likes Mrs. Nash’s Ashes and The Boyfriend Project, to name just two
This title will be adored by book lovers. Just a perfect gift.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for this title. All opinions are my own.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Book Nooks is the perfect book for bookworms.
Each chapter has beautiful pictures and ideas for showcasing books around your home. I loved the special feature of bookshops around the world. I even added a few books to my TBR inspired by the highlight of favorite "book nook" books from notable authors.
Can't wait to re-arrange my shelves and play around with the ideas provided!
*Thank you to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review
Not really what I expected - this was more of a focus on how to style an area in your home with books to look stylish (and frankly, usually non-functional), rather than a photographic walk-through of wonderful home libraries and reading corners, designed with an actual reader in mind.
I had to read “Book Nooks” because I have tons of books in my house and wanted stylish ideas for displaying them. This book offered several options depending on your book collection and where you want to put them in your home. My favorite part was in the Cookbook (Nook 7) section where “Go Monochrome” for kitchen and dining areas really caught my eye. The authors explained that an all-white cookbook nook is like a little black dress, because is easy to style and fits nearly every home aesthetic. The photos were very inspiring and made me want to create a dining room cookbook nook immediately!
Thank you to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for the opportunity to read an advanced reader's copy of this book for an honest review.
Home is where the books are. This inspiring home decor book is brimming with photos of cozy places to read and creative ways to display books at home.
Thank you Chronicle Books & Netgalley for sending me a digital ARC of this book! This book has pictures and gives you tips on how to create your own book nook. I don’t really feel like I got anything out of reading this book but I enjoyed reading this book and looking at the pictures.
I really enjoyed this design book full of a variety of styles of book nooks. This book is a perfect gift for the bibliophile in your life. I would love to have a hardcopy of this title in my own book nook. I’ll definitely be sharing this title with my audience of readers. When you are a lover of books, it’s hard to incorporate them in your home in a way that is both beautifully aesthetic and organized logically so that you’re able to find what you need. I love the tips in this book about how to display books and use them more as decorative items in the design and staging of one’s home.
Thank you for this ARC! I really enjoyed this read and it was cozy to read. To see the idea of a "book nook" because the topic of it's own. While the "stylish" topic for book nooks appear more often then I would think, it was still eye opening to see visuals of all the different types of books nooks. I can honestly say seeing the "stack as a functional table" made me seen and instantly connected to this book.
I’ve been working on designing my own personal book nook for months now, and this book arrived at just the perfect time!
With absolutely gorgeous photographs, in depth explanations of design ideas, and list recommendations, all sorted by rooms, this was a genuine inspiration that I cannot wait to put some work into. There were options for all different styles and tastes.
I also quite liked the end pieces that explored sharing a love of reading more out into your community with a little free library, something else that I’ve been considering for some time.
My thanks to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for this arc!
When I saw Book Nook, I knew it would be the catalyst for my bookish decor transformation. With stunning photographs, beautiful ideas, descriptive paragraphs, and inspiring topics, this book has something for everyone. You don’t need to be an interior designer to be inspired and able to create some of the book nook creations in this book. I live in a studio, and I was delighted to see a section of the book dedicated to small spaces. With both functionality and aesthetic elements, all you need is an open mind and the expansive space of your mind, as the possibilities are endless.
Books are my first loves & nooks my second! This book gave me inspiration to create spaces to celebrate my two loves.
This book goes through all the different ways you can create a book nook in your home along with so many different styles and themes. I found myself thinking of all the ways I could create little reading nooks throughout my home. While I have numerous bookshelves in my house, I've never thought about using them as a display. My bookshelves have served as a functional purpose (to house my books). This book got me thinking of those bookshelves as a means of décor. I'm excited to apply some of what I saw and read here into my home. This book also gave a few book suggestions throughout and I definitely added onto my TBR list.
I would recommend this book to anyone who has a bunch of books and wants to find a nice way to display their collection/library. Thank you Chronic Books for providing me with this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
This would be better as a physical book displayed on my shelves or coffee table but I did enjoy looking at the different "book books"! Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to review this title.
Beautiful book, and has more in it that I thought there'd be: author spotlights with their own opinions on their personal favorites, etc. Perfect for a aesthetically-minded booklover, or for someone sharing space with one :)
This would be a good guide to help you organize your books and can add to the aesthetic based on the pictures.
I think thie book is most useful to readers with limited space. I did come away with an idea for my bedroom and I enjoy the authors' book picks throughout the book.
A lovely coffee table book for book lovers. Lots of inspiration for creating a book nook, or simply calling the pile of books next to your favorite reading chair a book nook. Bonus lists of favorite books for excellent authors sprinkle through the pages of rainy autumn dreams. Even cookbook collections get some love, though the fondness for monochrome collections is a bit surprising from someone who has cookbooks of every color except white.
I loved this book. It's basically an inspirational picture magazine of sorts for cozy, book-loving people who enjoy looking at other's creative ways of displaying their most prized editions. The book is divided into sections, mostly rooms of the home with other areas (like the bar and garden) sprinkled in. Some extras, like bestselling authors' lists of their favorite books, are tucked in the pages. I'm not sure what Vanessa Dina's objective was when creating this, but it inspired me to look at my book collections and how I could more aesthetically and creatively display them. *Advance copy provided by the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
This was like Pinterest in book format. I loved all the ideas on book nooks and how to set them up. Ideas on things to add with your books and all the pictures were amazing. So inspiring!
Book Nooks: Inspired Ideas for Cozy Reading Corners and Stylish Book Displays

Books as decor shown in multiple ways around the home. Beautiful settings and practical placement for every room. Options, lists, and styling techniques. Ideas for displaying your books as well as various reading lists.
A beautiful coffee table book itself, this will give you many ideas on where and how to display your books.
The displays skews toward hard back and high end homes but I found several ideas that could easily be incorporated into a practical busy family home.
It’s a gorgeously photographed statement of: I love books.
I received an ecopy of this from NetGalley.

Color coordinated, or color sorted, tomes gather together for bookish beautification both large and small: a few books of quotes, essays, and humor for bathroom reading; a selection of coffee-table sized books stacked up a few stairs.
Every photograph is sumptuous and social media, even gallery, ready.
My only qualm is 'Book Nook" displays books in ways that sacrifices book safety (our babies!) many bibliophiles might not:
*crunched into empty fireplaces spine first
*underneath coasters and vases
*on gardening tables
I am appreciative of the creative spirit and skill sets involved in such an endeavor, especially as more book piles creep ever closer to taking over another room:)
Thank you kindly to Vanessa Dina, Claire Gilhuly, Chronicle Books, and NetGalley for the eARC.
I love the pictures and little tidbits by authors about what a book nook means to them. This is a cute, inspirational, coffee table book companion.
I loved reading this and learning about how other display books, full of gorgeous photos that will definitely inspire me.
Ask any bibliophile and they will most likely admit to having at least one book about books- be it a novel, a compilation, or a beautiful book like Dina and Gilhuly’s Book Nooks. Admittedly, I have a soft spot for book spaces in homes, shops, doctors’ offices, out in the wild- you name it. Where there is a book, there is a potential story to behold, and that is what had me smiling as I read this. There are some fun ideas and ways to marry one’s love of reading and spruce up your space at the same time.
Thank you to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for the advance copy. All thoughts are my own.
