Ok, so this book caught my attention because of the dragon on the front and the fact that it was called Dragon Den. I had no idea what to expect other than the short little blurb.
This book was a wild, exciting, non-stop ride from start to finish. I started and could not stop. All other books I was reading went on an immediate hold while I sped through this story.
Markus is a bad-boy with a soft spot for the good girl, Amira. Amira is the sister of an incredibly intimidating, overprotective brother Tobias, so Markus has to work some serious bro-magic to get anywhere close to Amira.
The book takes place mainly in Seattle and Portland, and is set in a world exactly like ours but with dragons that have been around since the beginning. The idea is that they hibernate all year in volcanoes around the world, but on the summer solstice when the dragons come out, a few daring, gifted souls can break said dragons and become a Goldwing (essentially a member of the dragon army).
Markus has his sights set on breaking the biggest, baddest dragon out there, a Black Clubtail. But on the solstice, things don’t go the way he was hoping, and he ends up staying at the Dragild Military Academy by a stroke of sheer luck.
As Marcus gets pulled into a world of espionage and secrecy he never expected to be a part of, can he get everything he wants? Will he actually walk away with a dragon, a girl, and the life of his dreams?
Read Dragon Den to find out!

I absolutely adored this book! I finished in within 24 hours. It instantly had me hooked from the first chapter. From my love of Fourth Wing, it was very easy to grab ahold of and understand. But it is so unique in many ways! I couldn’t predict what would happen next. I would have liked more story and character building, but overall I loved this read. Hoping there will be a sequel!

“My head feels light from the elevation, but I’ve never felt so alive. So free. Part of it comes from Loki. Two minds, one wavelength.”
📌Summary:
The story follows our hero, Markus Fredriksen, who after failing to break a dragon at Dragild Military Academy
( a school for dragon riders), has to complete a mission in order to stay in school. He is given a dragon named Loki and
the mission is to infiltrate the clan running the Dragon Den, suspected of hijacking semi-trucks carrying precious obsidian. Markus has to succeed in his mission while falling for clan leader’s daughter, Amira.
📌Review:
The book is a mix of Fourth Wing and Fast and Furious. It is set in a modern world where dragons have been there since the beginning. So it was very exciting to read about dragons racing in modern cities.
The book is action packed, it is literally non stop. I really
liked the connection between Markus and his dragon.
I wanted the book to be a little bit longer so we could have a chance to get to know the characters more.
I will definetely read the sequel when it comes out.
📌Thoughts: If you love Fast and Furious mainly and Fourth Wing, the book comes out on the 20th of June and it’s waiting for you.
Thank you Yggdrasil Press for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley.
I really enjoyed this book. It was so unique mixing real world with dragons. And the racing scenes gave me anxiety! (In a good way). I fell in love with Loki and have so many questions about Amira and Tobias’s mother. There is so much more to this story and I really hope this becomes a series!
Love the cover, and since reading the book I enjoy the multiple meanings of the title “ Dragon Den” . This book is getting 4 stars from me because it was fun, fast paced, and had some interesting characters. I do wish it was more in depth at times but the story did take place in Washington and in the book dragons have always existed. The spice score is a 3 /5, character rating is 5/5, and the storyline gets a 5/5. My favorite part was the ending, the pace somehow picked up more. Also getting to hear a certain dragon talk was… eye opening. I can not wait for the next book !
This book had such a fun modern fantasy approach with dragons, while still incorporating the fantasy of dragons existing. I'm a sucker for a dragon war college, and this book definitely satisfied that itch. I hope the author continues this story in future books, can't wait! I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5, because the character development felt a tad rushed.
An absolute masterpiece! I couldn’t put this book down it as so addictive!! I can’t wait to get my hands on a physical copy
This book is The Fast and The Furious but with Dragons 🐉
Dragon Den was very fun and I hope there is a book 2! It definitely followed the storyline of the first Fast and Furious movie. I was very entertained and read it in one sitting! I wish it was longer though with more world building and backgrounds on the characters.
I would totally recommend for a fun quick read is dragons is your thing!
I really enjoyed this book, the concept was really unique and it created a world I would really love to know more about. I would have enjoyed some more time spent on building the world and development of the characters relationships outside of just the main character. Overall it was a really fun fast paced read with a really original premise and I would love to read more in this world.
Markus is a young man with a great deal of ambition. Unfortunately, his ambition is greater than his skills, and rather than showing off for the girl he likes (and his class at dragon school) by getting an impressive Black Clubtail, he ends up with a small Graytail named Loki. However, he still has a chance to impress the girl he likes; he just has to first impress her brother and figure out where the stolen dragon collars are going.
In this world dragons aren’t bonded, they’re broken. Forced into a bond via obsidian collars that link the minds of rider and dragon together, and upon the death of their rider, locked away in underground stables ntil a new rider gets a collar on them. There are also dragon races, and dragon fights — where the dragons are used like roosters or dogs, pitted against one another for the entertainment of those who watch. It’s a dark world, and one not really explored in any depth.
The world itself isn’t really the main focus of this book because Markus has only three things on his mind: Amira, the girl he likes; Loki, his new dragon; and his mission. He’s not concerned about right or wrong, where things come from or how they got there. He just wants Amira to like him, and when he gets a chance at that he gets distracted (like any young man) by the prospect of love, much to the detriment of his mission.
This is, perhaps, not as developed a world as it could be, but I am left — at the end of the book — wanting more. More of the dragons, more of the dragon school, more of the collars and how they work. Markus isn’t a bad character, he’s just a normal guy who really, really wants to be with the girl he likes. Amira is her own character, and I think the two of them have some nice moments between them. I buy the friendship and the romance, and when book two comes out, I’ll be more than happy to pick it up.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is Fast & Furious but with Dragons, and if instead of a cop its a student at a Dragon Riders military academy.
Its has a balance of light and heavy, with a story not dissimilar from F&F. That said, it was a delight and i thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. I loved the characters, the World building and especially the dragons.
Wouldn't mind a second book.
i adored this, it got me out of the most stressful reading slump!
i think this book helped me to realise that you put a dragon in a book and it just does it for me. i found this to be really fast-paced which worked for me. i do think the world-building was a little lacking, but overall i had a really good time with this.
thank you so much to netgalley, the publisher and the author for the arc 🫶🏻
