Description

A mind fractured by tragedy.

An asylum filled with dark secrets.

An invisible gnome with a pet chicken.

Daryl's therapy uncovers a blood-stained past of pain and death, alongside something dormant within him of frightening power. When Dr. Walker teaches him how to face his own very literal demons, the psychosis-induced hallucinations and dreams conspire to warn him of something much worse stalking him. Something ancient and evil.

To survive, Daryl must confront the repressed memories that drove him insane.

For madness—is a blunt instrument.

Remembering Demons pitches you head-first into Daryl’s fantastical and confusing existence. This paranormal thriller with a Shutter Island’esque vibe will have you questioning what is real.

The book mixes dark and traditional fantasy with horror and science fiction elements to explore mental health, guilt, and a world where the physical realm of our experience blends seamlessly with the fantastical realm of monsters and gods. Perfect for fans of The Gunslinger, The Dresden Files, and the TV series Black Mirror.

"Remembering Demons is one of the most original novels I've read in recent years. Imagine One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest colliding with the imagination of Angela Carter, broadsiding Lovecraft, and then travelling on into uncharted realms. J. Cornelius is an exciting new talent pushing the boundaries of genre fiction."

This was so much fun to read. The characters were realistic and relatable while bringing a sense of humor to the story that I really enjoyed. It’s definitely a book I would revisit and I look forward to seeing what else the writer brings us in the future.
