Description
A serial killer is stalking young women in and around Jackson, Alabama. The news has yet to reach Abigail Fairchild. Abigail's journey through college and law school has been a battle, but with her family's unwavering support, she’s ready to take the bar exam. The realization of her goal is tantalizingly close. Greg, her new husband, disappeared in the tumult of the Vietnam War, his MIA designation always with her. Though she clings desperately to the belief that he's alive, doubt slithers into her mind, casting shadows over hope. Returning to her hometown of Jackson should be fun, but it's a descent into chaos. Detectives arrive at her parents' home to tell Abigail someone murdered her college roommate. Do they think she killed Heather? And a mysterious stranger named Mason Sloan seems to be everywhere. He claims to be Greg's friend. But Greg never mentioned him, and his odd brother only deepens the mystery. Why is she drawn to him, despite warnings from others, to stay away? After making a foolish decision, Abigail realizes the killer has marked her as his next victim. She’s far from home with no means of escape.
