In his latest book, One Big Box of 'Paranormal Tricks'? From Ghosts to Poltergeists to the Theory of Just One Paranormal Power, John Fraser reflects on his motivations for involvement in paranormal research from an early age, recalling his experiences to date, the people who have influenced him, and the conclusions he's come to. Whilst Fraser refers to events in his life, this book is not a memoir or 'life story' in any conventional sense. It's presented as a meditation on what the paranormal might mean for us in our universal quest to give our lives meaning. One Big Box of 'Paranormal Tricks'? takes more of a zen-&-the-art-of-spending-a-night-in-a-haunted-house approach than an autobiographical one.

John Fraser is currently a member of the Spontaneous Cases Committee and the Council of the Society for Psychical Research. He has previously been Vice Chair (Investigations) of The Ghost Club (founded in 1862), and joined the Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena in its founding year. He is the author of Ghost Hunting – A Survivors Guide (History Press 2010) and he has written articles for the Fortean Times and other magazines.

He has appeared on radio and television in the UK and also on television in Japan. Amongst his other related interests he also helped publicise the Second World Dracula Congress in Romania as well as assisting in promoting the specialised ‘Dracula’ tourist market to this region. In 2015 he conducting in depth research to the well known and controversial poltergeist style phenomena at ‘The Cage’ a former jail in St Osyth Essex. His latest book, Poltergeist: A New Investigation into Destructive Haunting, was Published in 2020, with further book, Paranormal Perspectives - One Big Box of Paranormal Tricks? out November 1st 2024.
