Description
Cipher Omega is a failed experiment, an identical clone of the brilliant, damaged woman whose genome the scientists of the Basement were trying to copy and improve. All her life she has dreamt of life outside the laboratory, on the surface world, but when her home is destroyed and she’s left the only survivor of a hundred-year human cloning project, she is forced to face the reality of the military-ruled nation that created her. Aided by the only other surviving child of the Basement, an enigmatic solider named Tor, and two rebel freedom fighters named Bowen and Oona Rivers, Cipher finds herself searching for answers, at any cost.

eye catching cover with a strong female MC in a spec fic book. im in love.
Cipher was a very good read. You are quickly drawn into the character and her predicament. The characters have flaws and are realistic, even as you're wishing they'd just speak up sometimes. It's a unique and interesting plot, with twists and uncertainties. It was a good read and I would definitely be interested in reading more of this series.
The author really hooked me into this story on the first line -- before you know anything about Cipher, you know she is facing a death sentence. Right away I wanted to know what she had done, but first the author takes you to the beginning of her story and lets you get to know her.
Cipher is a clone, a failed cloned according to everyone in the Basement where she lives and works. She is a genius but they did not take out enough personality traits to make what they consider perfect for the Basement. The reader just barely gets to know Cipher and her world and then she loses everything and everyone she has known and comes to the surface world where nothing is as she had always imagined and powerful people want her dead.
I was happy to read a dystopian future story where teenagers didn't have to fight to the death.
The only thing that bothered me about the story was wondering how the population in general, much less the southside population, was still so large after generations of enforced birth control. It seemed that population numbers would have dropped to almost nothing with few children having been born.
But that is a small matter. I really enjoyed the story and hope there is another Cipher story to come.
I received a free Kindle copy of this book from the publisher.
I really liked it! Great characters, cool and interesting world...I want to read more :) I would gladly purchase a sequel of this, so I hope one gets written!
I really enjoyed this book, there were loads of twists and turns that I didn't see coming! The main character was great and really relatable.
I hope that I get to listen to more of this series soon!

Cipher
What would you do if everything you knew was taken away from you overnight? In the blink of an eye Cipher Omega loses her safe, mandated world in the Basement and is whisked away to the world above ground. When Cipher lived in the Basement, it was with the knowledge that as a clone she was a failure. She knew that her "gene mother" was a brilliant woman who had issues with violence, but when the scientists created her gene strand they thought that they had successfully eliminated that flaw.
As Cipher grew older it became apparent that everything they hoped to accomplish by cloning Cipher wasn't fully accomplished. Cipher was brilliant at writing computer codes and building high tech machines to improve lives, but everyone in the Basement treated her as a loose canon. She had anger and control issues, and she had her mothers dyslexia. So rather than being recognized for her brilliance the other children taunt her with her failures. Only Ciphers father is a balm to her troubled heart. So when a bomb goes off killing all the clones in the Basement Cipher is left feeling abandoned and disillusioned. Everything she thought she knew about the world above was a lie!
Now that Cipher is above ground she longs for the safety of her structured world. She finds that all the freedom she longed for above ground isn't within anyones grasp.
The world is ruled by military leaders and they realize that they can't control Cipher, so they must eliminate her. As Cipher is forced to make hard decisions no sixteen year old should have to make, she also is given a gift she never thought she would ever be given, a group of friends.
Now all the things that Cipher was willing to put up with, the constant surveillance and monitoring are no longer acceptable. Cipher has finally found something worth fighting for ....her family, and she will do whatever it takes to keep them safe.
Cipher finds herself right in the middle of a political storm. One way she is guaranteed safety and all the quiet she needs to accomplish her work that keeps her sane. The other road is the only road that will allow her to keep those she loves safe! Which road will Cipher pick? Who can Cipher trust, and who is her gene mother? Pick up this wonderfully complicated book and get ready to find the answer to what do I read after the Hunger Games! This book will completely blow you away!
