Description
When Henry finds a key on the sidewalk and gives it to its owner, he follows her into a huge bookstore. Griselda Snook's Spectacular Books, which features a vast array of Halloween-themed books and caters especially to Halloween characters, has books for every interest. Despite the variety in choices, Henry isn't convinced that he'll find anything for himself. Could a guest reader at the store, Magenta Screech, have the perfect book for Henry?

This will go along with Room on the Broom as one of my new Spooky Season favorites! I loved the illustrations, and the little details in all of the scenes were absolutely delightful.
Darling picture book about the power of books and finding the right book for the right reader... with charming monster illustrations. Perfect for a Halloween Story Time.
"Griselda Snook's Spectacular Books" was a fun and festive read that encourages young readers to keep searching for books that peak their individual interests; there is a book for everyone! I thought the illustrations were very eye-catching and I loved the Halloween theme. This would make a great addition to any young readers collection of books!
Thank you Barry Times, Laura Borio, Net Galley and Publisher Spotlight - Tiger Tales for providing me with an ARC of this book!
(3.5) Cute illustrations and a lot to look at but weird story pacing (even for a kids book). My kiddo liked it but I don’t think I would purchase it!
Thank you NetGalley! All opinions are my own
This was so fun, spooky, and had a great message about reading for kids! I loved the illustrations, and how all the creatures gave this book a perfect Halloween vibe without being actually scary, so young readers will enjoy it. I also liked the overall plot of a boy finding the perfect book for him, even though he's sure he doesn't like reading. This is something I know a lot of children will connect with, and I believe Henry's story will make them believe there is a perfect book for them.
My one small issue with this is the writing could've been a little snappier. Nit-picky, I know, but I think it's important for read aloud. Still, it's fine for the adventure-esque narrative of this book. It doesn't make the story any less fun, and I think most young readers will like it. The theme of the story is one that should be valued by libraries everywhere, so I will be mentioning this title to my library director when she asks for recommendations.
A cute little bookstore were there is a book for everyone. I adored this cute Halloween inspired bookstore tale. The characters were cute and story was easy for my youngest to follow along. This is definitely a book that will be joining our shelves. I can see this being a cute series.
If you love books & Halloween you'll LOVE this book like I did. The main character finds the key to a bookshop just as the owner is trying to open for the day. He follows the owner inside and she talks about how wonderful her job is -- helping everyone find books they love. Halloween characters (doesn't feel right to call them monsters!) come in and she helps them find a just right read. Soon the shop is filled to the brim with readers enjoying books. Henry is working on finding his own book (he's not convinced he'll find one he likes) when a dragon pops out of one and starts destroying the store. With the help of an author coming to read her book he wrangles the dragon. She captivates readers and Henry falls in love with the book she reads aloud from. Everyone is happy with a book in hand as the store closes for the day. You'd love it if you love Halloween, bookstores, libraries, reading, or a feel-good read. Highly recommend for any classroom, school, or public library seasonal picture book collection.
This was a cute book that combined a love of books with Halloween! I loved the illustrations here and it was a really cute story. This would be a great Halloween book for kids, but also fun for the whole year.
Thank you to NetGalley for the luck of being able to read this adorable Halloween story! Super cute story, the illustrations are fantastic, and the lovely message about what magic books can hold. I would recommend this to anyone with children, or a gift for those with children.
This is a charming spooky little read about finding the perfect book for you! When a young boy steps into a mysterious Halloween themed bookstore, he thinks he can't possibly find the right book for him... but with the help of a few new friends, he'll definitely find something. This was a really cute halloween read and one I think would be a great read for young kids. The artwork is really charming and its just cute!

Such a sweet story about finding the perfect book for yourself and others. I loved seeing all the cute but spooky characters and illustrations in this book. And I won't lie, I want to visit Griselda Snook's bookshop! It is just the perfect spot to be, and there is even storytime! What more could we ask for? I hope to see this become a cute little series of books.
