Description
A divorcing woman discovers the sordid truth beneath her glitzy life when she takes on her cheating husband and the tax haven island hiding his secrets.
On the paradise island of Jersey, society hostess and amateur aviator, Cass Hartmann, has a perfect life. A beachside home, a chalet in the alps, two gorgeous daughters and a to-die-for husband. She has everything, in fact, except for the truth.
At a lavish party hosted by a Russian oligarch, Cass discovers her husband, Magnus, has been leading a double life. She files for divorce and starts unravelling his clandestine business affairs, dreaming of a new life with half the marital spoils. Magnus cuts off her funds, alienates her from friends and family and absconds with their daughters. Alone, destitute, and with mysterious forces on the island working against her, Cass must find the strength within her. She joins forces with three women she meets in a relationship therapy group to delve into the murky corporate world to uncover an operation of money laundering, sanctions busting and arms dealing. When Cass is offered a vast out of court settlement to keep quiet, she is set on an unexpected path…
Inspired by true events.

I really enjoyed THE ORCHID PAPERS. Cass Hartmann is an engaging protagonist, and you really feel for her as she discovers her fabulous life is built on secrets and lies. Her husband Magnus is a great villain and sets things in motion by leaving her alone on the island. I enjoyed how Cass related to the other women in therapy and how they work together. My only complaint is that the novel could have been shortened. I recommend THE ORCHID PAPERS for fans of women's fiction.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance e-galley; all opinions in my review are 100% my own.

The Orchid Papers was a tense and twisty read, full of suspense, drama, betrayal, hope, and friendship. I really enjoyed it.
I loved the bond that was formed between Cass, Alex, Veronika & Bella. They were all strong, determined, and complex women.
It's hard to believe that men can still get away with offering so little in divorce proceedings. Women really aren't valued enough as housewives. Supporting their husband's careers for years on end, only to be told it doesn't count for anything in the end.
I loved the way the ladies grouped together in the end to fight for justice. Not only for themselves, but also for the greater good.
This is the first book I've read from Kat, and I devoured it in one sitting, I honestly couldn't put it down.
I highly recommend.
4 stars from me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks to Netgalley, Troubador, and Kat Thurston for the chance to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Cass discovers her husband is cheating. Suddenly she finds herself locked out of her high society life. Marcus her husband has cut her out of their life, draining money, kicking out her house. As she starts to unravel secrets she discovers the whole island is in on nefarious activities including a snuff film. She has to find the courage to fight for her freedom and what is right. At times it was slow but it all came together at the end. I am intrigued that is inspired by true events.

An utterly mesmerising read! The Orchid Papers is steeped in mystery, family secrets, and hauntingly beautiful prose 🌺. Kat Thurston crafts a novel that feels both timeless and fresh, pulling the reader into a story that unravels slowly but never loses its grip. The atmospheric setting, full of tropical intrigue and old-world glamour, provides the perfect backdrop for the layers of mystery at the heart of the plot. I found myself completely absorbed by the twists and turns, and the exploration of family, love, and deception kept me hooked right to the final page. Fans of dual timelines and richly drawn characters will adore this one. A standout debut that lingers long after the final chapter.

The Orchid Papers is a suspenseful story about betrayal, survival, and strength. The main character, Cass, seems to have it all—a big, beautiful home, a lovely family, and a successful husband. But everything changes when she discovers that her husband is living a secret life. Left without money and facing a custody battle for her daughters, Cass must fight back. With the help of three friends from a therapy group, she uncovers a dangerous world of money laundering and illegal weapons deals. The book is fast-paced, emotional, and so very twisty! Once I found out that The Orchid Papers is based on real events, it was even more intriguing. Recommend this book!

Very well done. It gripped me from early on and continued through the entire book. It was well written, very readable and very accessible. The subject matter was something I was not familiar with, but now, it makes my blood boil that this kind of thing goes on. I learned much more than I ever wanted to know about money laundering and tax havens. I would recommend it to anyone.

What an intense book filled with deceit, twisting of facts, betrayals, deep secrets, manipulation, and whistleblowing based on a true story. Cass Hartmann has been happily married to her financier husband Mangus for twenty-five years, or so she thought. Until she's not.
As she is evicted from her family home and left destitute, despite her husbands wealth, Cass is thrown into a world she never imagined: having lived on the idyllic island of Jersey (UK) she finds that the vast amount of corruption in the courts and government block her every move at getting justice. Luckily, Cass is blessed with wonderfully loyal friends, Alex, Veronika, and Bella, who help her navigate the murky waters all of their husbands seem to be neck deep in as they seek truth and justice for themselves and the women of Jersey.

*The Orchid Papers* presents an intriguing premise—a glamorous woman’s descent into a dark world of deceit, corporate crime, and betrayal. The story of Cass Hartmann’s fight against her manipulative husband and his web of corruption on the island of Jersey offers moments of suspense and empowerment.
However, the pacing felt uneven, and the narrative sometimes dragged, making it difficult to stay fully engaged. While the themes of resilience and female solidarity were compelling, the plot’s complexity and the slow buildup diluted some of the tension. Cass’s transformation and the underlying corporate intrigue had potential but didn’t fully deliver the gripping impact I was hoping for.
Overall, it’s a story with strong concepts but struggled to maintain momentum.
