"Another laugh out loud, pitch perfect romance." --Annabel Monaghan, bestselling author
Wes left Addie at the altar two decades ago . . . and that was supposed to be the end of the story.
When her life crashes and burns in a flurry of secrets and redacted information, Addie Atwater-Elwyn hightails it home to the tiny mountain town of Adelaide Springs, Colorado--back to living with her dad, back to working a low-paying job, back to a life of disappointments. Growing up, nobody expected their local girl to become a high-ranking CIA analyst, married to a gorgeous CIA operative. But that was Addie's life until she lost . . . well, everything.
Now she's trying to pick up the pieces of her broken life with a little help from old friends. But there's one old friend she knows her life is better without--Wesley Hobbes, her childhood sweetheart who left her standing at the altar when they were eighteen years old. Truth be told, Addie would be perfectly content never seeing Wes's stupid face ever again--which makes it very inconvenient that he's now a beloved senator and presidential frontrunner, his face everywhere she looks. But that has nothing to do with Addie personally. He might make history, but in her book, he is history.
So, when the unwelcome Wes appears back in their hometown, no one rolls out the red carpet--not Addie and not an entire town that was forced to pick sides (and unanimously chose Addie) decades ago. Senator Hobbes certainly won't win the popular vote in Adelaide Springs.
Wes, meanwhile, is sitting on a few secrets of his own, including the political scoop of the decade: he'd seriously rather gouge his eyes out than spend another minute in politics, much less ever go anywhere near the White House. Addie knows there has to be more to the story, and her curiosity is clouding her judgment. You can take the girl out of the CIA, but it's not so easy to shake the CIA out of the girl. Of course, it's not just curiosity (and the acknowledgement that his face isn't so stupid after all) that's been reawakened inside her. But after more than two decades, it's too late. Wes and Addie already had their chance. Right?
Wes and Addie Had Their Chance is a standalone novel set in charming Adelaide Springs, Colorado, where the author's previous books, Brynn and Sebastian Hate Each Other and Cole and Laila Are Just Friends, also take place. This heartwarming story includes discussion questions for book clubs and readers to further explore the delightful journey of Wes and Addie's relationship.

Absolutely adored it! This phenomenal second chance romcom is so fun. Love the characters. Cute, fun, simple but memorable.

Giving this five stars because I can’t accurately rate this. I couldn’t finish it and am just not in the right headspace for it. 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Wes and Addie Had Their Chance is a heartwarming second chance romance that hits all the right spots! The small town of Adelaide Springs is the perfect setting for this book filled with humor, personal growth, and nostalgia. Wes and Addie’s complicated history adds layers of depth to their reunion. I loved seeing how both characters had changed over the years, each on their own personal journeys of healing and self discovery. Addie, with her sharp wit and CIA background and Wes’s transformation from a political figure to someone seeking true redemption.
Bethany Turner really makes the reader experience the emotional highs and lows throughout the novel. The chemistry between Wes and Addie feels genuine, and their witty banter is entertaining. I enjoyed the political drama and the quirky small-town charm that gave the story a homey charm.
That said, there were a couple of moments that felt a bit out of place, but overall it was still very enjoyable! If you’re into small town second chance romances Wes and Addie Had Their Chance is the book for you!

*Wes and Addie Had Their Chance* is a heartwarming and delightful read. The story captures the emotional journey of love, second chances, and personal growth. I really enjoyed Turner's as I thought it was engaging and relatable, making it easier to connect with the characters. Wes and Addie’s relationship is full of ups and downs, but their story is both touching and inspiring. With its blend of humor, romance, and genuine moments, this book is perfect for anyone looking for an uplifting and feel-good read. Highly recommended for fans of heartfelt romance and I'm excited for everyone to read it when it releases in July!

First off, I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
The important bit, CALAJF was my first Bethany Turner experience and I was hooked immediately. After I finished I immediately read BASHEO and have since been patiently waiting for Addie and Wes' story.
Whilst I will read anything Turner writes, I was hesitant with this story as I find second-chance plot lines some of the hardest to believe and support through to the end. I knew I wanted this story after finishing Cole and Laila's, I just never knew I could feel so much empathy for both sides of the relationship. I love that nothing was dismissed in regards to the characters past and my favourite part, they communicated!
What has struck me since I picked up my first Bethany Turner story, is that she produces the most emotionally intelligent characters and Addie and Wes are no exception.

It’s refreshing to read a romance where the characters are my own age and of similar life experiences. Cole and Laila was perhaps my favorite read of last year and this title is a satisfying addition to the series. Highly recommend.

Wes and Addie Had Their Chance by Bethany Turner is a witty, heartfelt second-chance romance that explores love, betrayal, and the complexities of moving on. The story centers around Addie Atwater-Elwyn, a former CIA analyst who returns to her small hometown in Colorado after her life falls apart. While trying to rebuild her life, she is forced to face her past—particularly Wes Hobbes, her childhood sweetheart who left her at the altar two decades ago.
Addie is fiercely independent, but she’s also carrying a lot of emotional baggage, and the last thing she wants is to confront the man who shattered her heart. Yet, as Wes reappears in town and old feelings resurface, she finds herself questioning everything she thought she knew about love and forgiveness. Wes, now a senator with a hidden political agenda, brings with him a few secrets, making the tension between them even more compelling.
Turner's writing is sharp and engaging, with a perfect blend of humor and emotional depth. Addie’s dry wit and resilience make her an endearing protagonist, while Wes's complex nature and vulnerability add layers to their rekindled connection. The small-town setting and the town's opinion of Wes add a fun dynamic to the story, making it not just a love story but also a reflection on forgiveness, identity, and the consequences of past decisions.
Wes and Addie Had Their Chance is a delightful, romantic read that will keep readers hooked with its relatable characters, heartfelt moments, and unexpected twists. It's perfect for fans of second-chance romances with a touch of humor and depth.

Every book I’ve read by Bethany Turner captures my heart from the very beginning, and this one is no exception. Her characters effortlessly draw me into their lives, and I was completely enthralled by Addie and Wes’s heartfelt journey. I truly didn’t want this story to end.
At eighteen, Addie’s fiancé Wes—her best friend and first love—left her at the altar. Fast-forward to age thirty-eight, and Addie finds herself a widow after the death of her husband. Now forty, she returns to her small Colorado hometown to live with her dad, having also lost her job with the CIA. To make matters more complicated, Addie harbors a personal secret she’s kept to herself. Reconnecting with childhood friends and taking a low-paying job, she attempts to navigate her new reality.
Meanwhile, Wes has become a beloved United States Senator and is the frontrunner in the presidential election. After twenty-two years of no contact, Addie is shocked to see him back in their hometown. Wes, too, has his own secrets and hesitates to share them with his adoring fans.

Poignant, impressive, beautifully written love story that demands to be discovered and savored again. Set in Adelaide Springs, Colorado and Washington D.C. the unique plot and wonderful characters will keep
you enthralled and turning pages. This is book 3 of the Adelaide Springs series. I would recommend reading all of them. This book was provided by #NetGalley for me to read. The opinions expressed here are my own thoughts. Definitely worth the read.

This was an adorable second chance at love story. When they were younger, Wes left Addie at the altar. Now two decades later, Addie moves back home. To her surprise, Wes returns to Adelaide Springs, not knowing Addie would be there too. Will they be able to rekindle their love? The storyline was engaging, the characters were realistic, and the story includes loss, forgiveness, and second chances.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wes and Addie Had Their Chance by Bethany Turner is the third novel set in Adelaide Springs, Colorado, and I would recommend Brynn and Sebastian Hate Other and Cole and Laila Are Just Friends first. Addie Atwater-Elwyn returns home to regroup after the death of her husband and the loss of her job. Despite her masquerading as a local version of the Uber driver trying to ignore her recent past, the appearance of Wesley Hobbes, the man who left at the altar of their wedding years ago, forces Addie to confront her past. Wesley is not just the man who broke her heart. He has become a U.S. senator and the front-runner for the presidency, whose political career could end if the truth came out. Both Wes and Addie are hiding secrets. Turner uses memorable characters, witty dialogue, and the quaintness of a small town to create romantic tension with dashes of humor that will have you asking when you can revisit Adelaide Springs.

I adored it! I feel like every book by Bethany Turner gets better than the last one I read. I loved the banter back and forth between Wes and Addie and the glimpses of the other couples from the other books! I loved the way this turned out and the ending was unexpected. I am sad that the series is over but can't wait to see what else this author has up her sleeve! She is becoming a must read for me.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

As always, Bethany Turner writes with such a natural, effortless voice. Reading one of her books is like snuggling in and burrowing down with a good friend. I love her sense of humor and the fact the characters were a bit older than the norm for the romance genre.

I couldn’t put this book down, and I’ll be looking for the first two books in this series!
“Wes and Addie had their Chance” is a wonderful second-chance-romance, with solid character development for both Wes and Addie. Turner displays a strong understanding of grief and trauma, without overly torturing her characters, and she gives the erstwhile lovers room to grow together. Their rekindled does occasionally feel rushed, but knowing their history helps alleviate that on some levels. I adore the setting, and I found the various secondary characters delightful.

I enjoyed this story. Having read BASHEO and CoLai, the previous two books in Adelaide Springs, I highly anticipated this book. I will say, the book moved kinda slowly for me with lots of inner rambling that disrupted conversations, but that didn't keep me from enjoying this second chance romance. I loved the tension between Wes and Addie at their re-meet-cute. And the way that they actually sat down and talked through their feelings (in between *expressing* their feelings... 👀❤️🔥) was so good. I also loved seeing the people of Adelaide Springs again. Cole and Laila were there, Seb showed up for a bit, and of course, Doc and Jo were the sweetest. I love when books have a nice full cast like this one. While there is an HEA as is required in any romcom, the tone of this story is actually more sad/depressed than funny. There are funny parts, but there's a lot more seriousness due to Wes and Addie's painful pasts. I didn't find this to be a hindrance to my reading, but others may want to know this before jumping in. Overall, this was a great end to the series! I look forward to reading whatever this author has coming up next!
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC. All opinions are my own.

Another fantastic love story from Bethany Turner! Wes and Addie were childhood sweethearts-until Wes left Addie at the altar. Decades later, they are both widower/widow and reconnecting in their hometown in the midst of Wes’s overwhelming presidential race. I love a second-chance romance and as soon as these two characters were mentioned previously as having a history, I was SO ready for their story. Bethany Turner has a knack for unique storylines and quirky turns of phrase, and Wes and Addie Had Their Chance is no different. I loved the way they kept getting thrown together; we also get to catch up with Brynn, Sebastian, Cole, and Laila. Keep an eye out this summer for this conclusion to Turner’s Adelaide Springs trilogy!
*I received a copy of this book from the publisher and Netgalley. All opinions expressed above are my own.

“Wes and Addie Had Their Chance” by Bethany Turner was an enjoyable read. It was the first book I have read written by Turner but I can’t wait to read more now. The story of Addie and Wes was such a good story. I loved how Turner didn’t discount the time Addie spent with Joel and her love for him. I think it was sweet that she was able to find herself in love again.

The Adelaide Springs, Colorado series by Bethany Turner is one of my absolute favorite series that I have read and the latest, Wes and Addie Had Their Chance, could not have been been a better addition. Turner is a master of adding humor and pop culture into her books and are my favorite aspects of her writing. This is a huge 5 star read for me!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I loved this book! Wes and Addie were just the complicated, funny duo that I wanted to root for. I really appreciated that Addie was able to build a real, solid and beautiful life for herself after Wes jilted her at the altar. (That's in the summary so not spoiling anything!) It felt both good for the character and also true to life. The book also packed enough surprises and turns to keep me guessing. Sometimes, low-spice/sweet romances lack a bite, but this one truly feels relatable and genuine and even raw at times. Bethany's characters always feel like real, flawed people, in the best way. And Adelaide Springs continues to be a fictional town that I want to return to with each of Bethany's books.

Wholly and irretrievably perfect.
“Addie Atwater became the great love of his life, that was it.”
My very first Bethany Turner novel and most certainly not my last. This book was an absolute rollercoaster of emotions start to finish and it had me gasping, giggling, clutching my pearls and swooning all at the same time.
This story is the ultimate novel of human connection, sacrifice and second chances.
This book was not what I expected and I mean that in the best way possible. I thought it was going to be a light hearted romance, but really, this story was so much more than that. It was so complex on an emotional level and each chapter was revealing another layer to the plot and characters which added so much depth to everything - a truly wonderful reading experience.
The tension throughout the first third of the book between Wes and Addie was palpable. They were both so raw and real with each other with the confrontation and the hurt. I like that they didn’t ignore the elephant in the room and that their past was addressed early on in the book between them. Addie never cowered from the situation, addressing Wes on his bullshit immediately. She was such a fierce character. Both coming from difficult and stressful careers, they found solace in each other being the only ones who understood what it was like. The secrets, the formalities, the facade of everything. They were each others safe space - even a whole lifetime apart. (Also I pictured Wes as Nate Archibald the entire book and you cannot change my mind.)
Something about this story was so uniquely … precious and fragile. I think it was the vulnerability between the characters so early in the book (which I ADORED) or if it was the cozy, winter small town vibes. Either way, i fell in love with Wes, Addie and Adelaide Springs.
Reading this book, I didn’t want for it to end. I could have read a thousand more pages on Wes and Addie and never gotten tired of it. So painful, raw, hilarious and comforting all at once. Highly recommend!
Thankyou to @netgalley for an advanced copy of this book!!

This one started a bit slow for me, but once it got going, I couldn't put it down. I loved how much life they lived in between their romances, but also how easy it was to fall back into old ways. Closeness from your youth stays with you, and this friend group really exemplifies that. I did read Brynn and Sebastian Hate Each Other before this, but I didn't feel like they played a large enough role in this book that you needed to do so.
I received this one in advance from NetGalley, and it was still pretty early in the editing stage, which made it a little hard to read. So if that will bother you, I'd wait for the publish date, but either way I would recommend this book :)

Loved it! What a fun romantic comedy, full of laughs, honesty, heartbreak, and second chances.
I thoroughly enjoy the stories set in this tiny mountain town of Adelaide Springs, Colorado, and it's wonderful characters. From "Brynn and Sebastian Hate Each Other", "Cole and Laila Are Just Friends", and now "Wes and Addie Had Their Chance", you don't want to miss any of them! All of them were childhood friends finding love in their forties.
Lovers of romantic comedies don't want to miss this story or this series!
Thank you to Thomas Nelson and Net Galley for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.

Wes and Addie Had Their Chance is a beauty love story. Bethany Turner returns her readers to Adelaide Springs, and yes, there are multiple appearances from previous characters. You can still fully enjoy if you haven’t read the others in the series, but they provide great backstories (plus, they’re just great stories).
Wes and Addie have both lived a lot of life and lost a lot since leaving Adelaide Springs as naïve youth. Each of their stories and experiences are heavy and impactful. Their own love story, up until the Wes left Addie at the altar, is emotional and powerful. Their story is told through the lens of today, using flashbacks, and it is an effective way to weave their current situation into their past journeys. There are multiple laugh out loud moments since their most vivid memories capture their growing up and maturing together. While they may be older, there is a part of each of them preserved in time from that failed wedding day. There are also multiple serious, deep moments. My emotions were all over the map in this story. I didn’t love all the directions some of the plot twists took, but I loved Wes and Addie more and found myself committed to their happily ever after.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley, and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.

In a small town, it is hard to outrun your reputation. Especially when they have known you your whole life. Addie and Wes were childhood sweethearts who were headed down the aisle at after high school, things were fine until the groom didn't show up. Now it is several decade later. Both Addie and Wes have become widows and are about to find themselves back home in the same town again. It's like back when they were kids, except now Addie is ex-CIA and Wes has the possibility of becoming President.
I love this series so much, this being the third being the third book about a group of friends who grew up in a small town. For this book I loved the second chance trope and how it played out for Addie and Wes. All these characters are well built and even though this may not be one of the other friend's books, you still get to see how they are doing for more than just a cameo.
I love how with Bethany Turner you know that while you are going into what can be considered Christian fiction, it is not just a girl wearing a bonnet on the cover typical Christian fiction book. Bethany Turner is funny and puts in pop culture references that I feel a variety of ages are able to get.
In this book the Addie and Wes work together to get through their relationship problems. They talk out things they were unable to before and then forgave each other after taking accountability for their actions. It was nice to see a healthier way of handling relationship issues portrayed.
Addie and Wes definitely had physical chemistry and tension without it just being some all-out sexual thing. I rooted for them to get back together the entire time.
This book is perfect for someone who wants a small-town romance, but also for someone who wants to watch two adults heal from past relationships and come out of it stronger together. I highly recommend reading the other two in this series as well. They are all so very good!!

The gang just isn’t the same anymore. Life has hit too hard, and there are too many hurts from the past, but can they start again?
Addie has carried deep pain for way too long, and it has tainted who she’s become. Some in a good way, but also in a sad way.
Wes was a BIG part of those pains, yet he’s realizing he needs to make amends, if only everyone in the small town of Adelaide Springs can forgive him.
This is the third book set in the town of Adelaide Springs, and we get to see all the past characters from Bethany Turner’s other two books. It’s like coming home and seeing what’s happening to everyone. All the struggles and all the joys in their lives. It’s a community that would be fun to be a part of.
Bethany Turner has done it again! This book is filled with snarky, fun dialogue, quirky characters, and moments of delightful relationships.
I love how the author includes SO many familiar movies, actors, and songs. It brings the story to life in a fun and charming way.
Bethany Turner has a very fascinating way of writing! It's fresh and delightful, even when it delves into some complicated issues from these characters’ past. She gave her characters spunk, and yet they also had depth and the willingness to learn from their mistakes.
This book is full of humor, drama, small-town community living (where “everybody knows your name”), and big-city fun, as well as a sweet romance.
I loved this story and highly recommend it.
I received this book from the publisher, which did not influence my review in any way; all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own

Addie Atwater-Elwyn’s life implodes (again) when she loses her job as a high-ranking CIA analyst and her handsome husband within the same year. She drags her shattered dreams and secrets back to Adelaide Springs, the tiny mountain town in the wilds of Colorado. To make matters worse, she moves in with her dad—who serves as both the town doctor and mayor—and takes a job for the town’s equivalent of a taxi service.
Ever since Wesley Hobbes, her best friend and high-school sweetheart, stood her up at the altar when they were just 18, Addie has avoided Adelaide Springs and everyone who knows her tragic story. But she’s hit rock bottom and doesn’t know where else to go. At least she has loyal friends in Adelaide Springs (even if she hasn’t kept in touch much).
But when Wes Hobbes, now a state senator from Maine and a frontrunner for his party’s presidential candidate, comes to town, all the hurt and resentments over his abandonment two decades ago threaten to sabotage Addie’s hard-won new normal. Even worse, she discovers she still has feelings for the man who shares so much of her history.
Wesley Hobbes doesn’t often question his life choices, but something about running for presidential candidate has him reevaluating every choice he made. When he sneaks away from his campaign manager and all the hoopla to spend a few quiet days in Adelaide Springs, he has no idea he’ll run into the woman he left at the altar all those years ago.
The more time he spends around Addie, the more he questions decisions of the past and choices for the future. It’s time to start living life on his terms—not bound by his father’s expectations and society’s demands. And maybe this time, he’ll get a second chance with his first love.
What I Loved About This Book
Fans of second-chance romance will love this sometimes-comic look at what happens when two adults re-examine their botched romance decades later. How can one truly forgive the deep hurts and life-changing decisions when one part of a couple suddenly ruptures the bond that held them together? Can love regrow around the break and create a stronger, more honest relationship? Readers can enjoy this third installment in the Adelaide Springs series as a standalone novel.

This book is a fun read! It's a second chance romcom that was a joy to read. Loved it.
I received a complimentary copy from Thomas Nelson vi NetGalley and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson Fiction, and Bethany Turner for the chance to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
If you've read the first two books in this series of interconnected standalones- you're ready for this one. The illusive Wes AND Addie get their story! And boy is it a story! I do think this would read perfectly fine as a standalone- but in the prior two books our setting, Adelaide Springs, is almost its own character and that carries into this book but isn't as prominent. From having read the first two- I didn't need more charm from the town- it's already in my heart and brain!
In this story- we do a LOT of wading through grief, addiction, life's woulda coulda shoulda's, AND the "well, we didn't and this is our story."
It's not a spoiler to share this really- but I LOVE how Addie found TRUE love in Joel after Wes left her at the altar. And nowhere in this story does the author make any effort to make Joel be any type of placeholder for Wes & Addie's second chance. No ma'am and sir- Joel and Addie's love is honored and appreciated- and Wes does NOT try to take that away. I find in many second chance widowed stories we are given some ick reason why that marriage or partnership was "bad" and that does NOT happen here. Even Wes' prior marriage was unconventional but not BAD.
This is a political story as our MMC is a front runner for President. But the politics are very neutral. Really the only issue we hear him talk about at all is campaign reform. Outside of that we have the typical pushy campaign manager AND Wes' estranged Governor of Connecticut father that comes back into the picture after 18 years.
The resolution left me with some questions. But maybe if we ask Bethany nicely she'll give us a bonus epilogue???

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"Wes and Addie Had Their Chance" by Bethany Turner is an absolutely spectacular rom-com that had me laughing, swooning, and rooting for the characters from start to finish. Set in a charming small town, this delightful second chance romance is infused with wit, heartfelt moments, and a wonderful journey of self-discovery.
Wes and Addie's dynamic is electric, filled with hilarious banter and undeniable chemistry that leaps off the pages. Bethany Turner has a knack for creating relatable, lovable characters who feel like old friends. Their story is not just about rekindling a past romance but also about personal growth and finding themselves amidst the chaos of life and love.
As part of a series, "Wes and Addie Had Their Chance" seamlessly ties into a larger world without losing its standalone appeal. The small-town setting adds warmth and charm, making it impossible not to fall in love with both the town and its quirky inhabitants.
If you're a fan of laugh-out-loud moments, heartfelt romance, and characters who steal your heart, this book is a must-read. Bethany Turner has once again delivered a story that’s both entertaining and emotionally satisfying. I can’t wait to dive into the next installment of the series! Great for book club discussions.

Wes and Addie had their chance more than twenty years ago, and he blew it when he left her at the altar. Since then, she's loved again, married and lost another good man, and now she's back in Adelaide Springs. But even their home town, which has no time for the man who deserted her, can't escape him now that he's running for president and on the news everywhere - not that it bothers here; she doesn't feel anything any more. When he turns up in Adelaide Springs looking for Sebastian, though, neither she nor anyone else can escape him, and suddenly she's feeling things she'd thought left behind long ago. But he's heading for a job she wouldn't touch with a barge pole and she's long since moved on - right?
Another great read in the series, though a complete standalone story (though if you've read previous books you'll enjoy seeing more of Cole and Laila in particular). Wes is a mess despite his expertise in presenting a put-together appearance, and Addie is just as bad in her own way. But somehow, putting them together and in a situation where they have a chance to talk things through, and face up to things they've buried, gradually helps piece them together a bit. It's a joy to watch, though the road is rather rocky, and it's also great to see old Adelaide Springs friends. I particularly loved one scene with Addie and Cole, with the comment (summarised): "we loved you too much to gossip about you, so I don't know what Laila and Wes thought about it, but I'll bet you never saw any of us drink in front of you again" - and that's love in action. A heart-warming and inspiring read - recommended.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Wes and Addie Had Their Chance is such a unique and clever story. Bethany Turner has a way of creating characters that feel real and relatable, and this book was no exception. I absolutely fell in love with Wes and Addie—their chemistry, their history, and the tension between them kept me hooked from start to finish.
But what surprised me most was how much I cared about the entire town. Every side character felt like someone I wanted to know more about, which made the small-town setting feel warm and alive. By the time I reached the final page, I genuinely wished I could spend more time in their world.
If you enjoy second-chance romances, small-town charm, and characters you can’t help but root for, this one is definitely worth picking up. I’m grateful to have received an early copy, and I’ll absolutely be recommending this book to others!

"I have loved you since before I any idea what love was."
This is a heartwarming second chance romance, but it's also so much more.
The complicated history between Wes and Addie provided an opportunity for character growth and an emotional journey, which the author beautifully portrayed. Their story is full of heart, humor, witty banter, genuine moments, and truly relatable characters you will be rooting for.
*Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

What a great series this has been and this book, Wes and Addie Had Their Chance, capped it off with flying colors! Wesley Hobbes, one of the title characters, is making his first appearance in the series in this book. He became a social pariah to the town of Adelaide Springs when he left Addie, his fiancee and the town darling, at the altar (literally) and left town without a word of explanation or apology when they were both eighteen years old. Twenty years later after both Wes and Addie had had successful careers and marriages, they returned to Adelaide Springs following the death of their spouses and met face to face unexpectedly once again. Neither expected what followed. After all, they had already had their chance. I couldn’t put this book down. It was filled with surprises and heartbreak and hope and and romance. It made me laugh with its witty, snarky banter and cry at the tender parts. It showed that love makes forgiveness and redemption possible. I loved every minute of it! Highly recommend! This book could be read and enjoyed as a standalone but I think you will enjoy it more if you start at the beginning of the series since most of the previous characters make appearances in this series finale. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, Thomas Nelson, via NetGalley. All opinions expressed are strictly my own.

Wes and Addie Had Their Chance by Bethany Turner pulled me in from chapter one and completely hooked me until I finished.
A sweet, light-hearted romance. That I simply couldn’t get enough of.
The character development was extremely satisfying and the story so vivid, she truly does an incredible job at bringing her characters to life. They just jump off the pages.
They are truly memorable characters and unforgettable story.
The writing is witty and engaging. And I’d expect nothing less coming from Turner.
I just love her writing style. It’s fun and welcoming.

I absolutely loved reading this series and this story is fantastic. I loved Wes and Addie’s story. They were childhood best friends and then sweethearts. When they were supposed to get married at 18, he disappeared. They married other people and their spouses die bringing them back to Adelaide Springs, a town that sounds fun to visit. Wes had a lot of apologies to make to the town for leaving and never returning. I loved how Wes and Addie had the connection from long ago, the fun banter they had with each other. I loved the updates on the friends from the other books, I enjoyed seeing how their lives were going and how they still supported each other. This is an absolutely delightful story that drew me in from the beginning so much I didn’t want to put it down, there were some twists and turns I didn’t expect which is always fun in a story, great book that I highly recommend!
Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for this copy of this story, the review in only my opinion.

What can I say beyond Bethany Turner is a superb writer? Every one of her books will entertain. She weaves the story in such a way and with just the right amount of comedy that its a thing of beauty.
I loved the reconciling journey Addie and Wes travel. I loved the healing, the understanding, and the forgiveness.
There are no swears or alcohol and level 1 kisses only. Dual POV. I listened to the audiobook and the narrators were wonderful.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This was a fantastic story with ... (hold your breath) ... mature characters ... gasp! Mature as in - not in their 20s, or even 30s, but in their 40s!
As a mature reader myself, ahem, I maintain that the book publishing world would do itself a great service to it and the readers if more romances with older characters were published. Gen X readers would pay big money for .... I digress.
The story itself had it's moments of sadness. Being in their 40s our main couple have been through many ups and downs in their lives apart. So to see them "maturely" discuss the past, the present and the future was interesting.
I thought the pacing of the book was appropriate and my only issue is some sentences would abruptly divert to other topics.
Nonetheless, this would be a fun summer read for those who like second chance stories.
Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for an e-copy of WES AND ADDIE HAD THEIR CHANCE to review.
I rate WES AND ADDIE HAD THEIR CHANCE five out of five stars.

When her life crashes and burns, Addie Atwater-Elwyn hightails it home to the tiny mountain town of Adelaide Springs, Colorado to pick up the pieces. Then Wesley Hobbes, childhood sweetheart who left her at the altar, comes into town. Will they get their second chance or is it too late for them?
We're back in this tiny town this time to see Wes and Addie find their back to being on good terms. Twenty years is a long time to bury the hatchet and this had all the awkwardness as Wes even tried to reconcile with their friend group.
Both of them had secrets which kept me interested as they explored a new dynamic in their relationship. It was all amazing, emotional at times and humorous as well. This is definitely my favourite of the three books.
Thank you to Netgalley and Publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. It's out now!
Rating: 5⭐
Steam level: 1🌶️ Kissing only

Cute second chance romance
This was a cute second chance romance in a cozy Colorado town I've grown to enjoy. The political angle was an interesting addition. Although this is the third book in a series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. I would rate this PG for kissing, themes of alcoholism and forgiveness.

I love anything by Bethany Turner. She writes rom com books but clean. This was the first one I read in the series. It says it is book 3 but it reads like stand alone. I'll have to read the other to later to see if I should have before this one. I live small town romance books and that's what this one is. I love the writing style and how she describes things. I felt like I was there in the town.

Oh! This book is so good. Fantastic story. Fantastic pacing. Lovely characters. Great banter. I just loved every minute of reading it—including the laughing and crying.
Wes left Addie at the altar 22 years ago, when they were 18 years old. Now as the leading candidate for U. S. President, he wants to go home. Last he knew Addie was married and NOT living in their small town of Adelaide Springs. He’s in for a big surprise. In fact, everyone in Adelaide Springs who think Wes and Addie had their chance are in for a big surprise.
I love these characters. Both of them are smart, sweet, and emotionally mature, but still healing from life’s twists and turns. The writing is smart and witty. So well done.
You don’t want to miss this book. Was I crazy to request this ARC after it's publication day when I have 2 other arc deadlines looming. Yes. Do I regret it? Absolutely not. Thank you @netgalley for a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review.
This is the third in a stand-alone series. You don’t have to read the others, I didn’t, but if you read the other books, this will be even more fun for you than it was for me. This is my first book by @seebethanywrite and she is now on my auto-read list.

Bethany Turner's Wes and Addie Had Their Chance is a charming reminder of how life often circles back to give us what we didn’t expect. I loved how the chemistry between Addie and Wes immediately rekindled. I also related to the poignant small-town dynamics and the complex, tender bonds of found family and being friends with our childhood pals well into adulthood. The relationship between Addie and her father is super sweet as well.
To me, what stands out is the way Turner handles such a challenging story. She isn’t afraid to explore the bittersweet intricacies of love, loss, and the journey toward personal redemption, all while keeping the pace playful and engaging. From the fiery spark of old romance to the subtle evolutions of mature relationships, this book captures the essence of second chances.
In short, Wes and Addie Had Their Chance is a heartwarming story about how sometimes, life's detours lead us exactly where we need to be. Well done, Bethany!
Full disclosure: Bethany and I are friends and I did receive a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher and NetGalley.

I have read Bethany's previous two books centered on Adelaide Springs and this installment did not disappoint. It has a slew of interesting, well-drawn secondary characters, a beautiful backdrop, and a precious, sweet, second-chance romance with a very interesting backstory. Bethany is a great writer; the dialogue is funny and the pacing is good. These characters are precious humans. She manages to keep it swoony without any spice. Definitely recommend all of the Adelaide Springs books to romance fans.

I really love the Bethany Turner writes older protagonists. This is part of a companion series but obviously you don’t have to read the other books, they just give you a little more context of the friend group and town. Speaking of, the little town these stories take place is a little lackluster. I wish there was more details about it but they might be found in earlier books. The minor characters really make the whole vibe so much better. I really enjoyed the military and political aspects, Addie being former CIA and Wes running for president. Also they were both widowers and I love the depth that brought to the story. Overall, I highly recommend this one!

I loved this book. No--I will not purchase it for my high school library, because it is a book for grown-ups. I loved the story, I liked the two different points of view in the book, and I liked the reflections. The characters were interesting, and I like all of them. There is an "I wonder what will happen
next", but maybe that should be left to the imagination. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc with no pressure for a positive review.

Wes and Addie Had Their Chance by Bethany Turner is a sweet love story. Addie Atwater-Elwyn has come back to her mountain home town of Adelaide Springs, Colorado after many disappointments in Washinton DC. Wes Hobbes was our high school love who left her at the altar. She wants to forget him, but that is hard when his face is everywhere since he is running for president. It can only get worse when he shows up back in town.
I felt like this was a very well written second chance love story. Wes and Addie had grown up enough to reconnect in a believable way. Their characters were well developed, had great chemistry, and wonderful banter. There were many light moments between the heavier ones which made for a funny, but meaningful story. I enjoyed revisiting with everyone is Adeliade Springs and seeing their reaction to Wes and Addie.
I absolutely loved Wes and Addie Had Their Chance by Bethany Turner. The author is an auto buy for me, and this could be one of my favorite stories she has written. I read this quickly and happily embraced losing sleep to read. I highly recommend and this will be a 2025 favorite.
I was given a complimentary copy and not required to write a positive review.

After reading the first two books in the Adelaide Springs series, it was wonderful to finally know the story behind Wes and Addie. It seemed that their absence in the earlier books always hinted at something grand, and in a way, getting to meet them both in this last book was both fitting and satisfying. I was grateful that both mysterious characters made their long-awaited appearance, so that readers could understand the motivations for their behaviour and disappearances. Even better than that was seeing how they were able to take responsibility for their past actions against each other. With Wes and Addie being in their 40s, it was refreshing to see how they worked to clear up any miscommunication between them instead of descending into assumptions. Of course, it wouldn't be a Bethany Turner book without the pop culture nods along the way to evoke that shared nostalgia as well.
This book is marketed as clean fiction, so there are few faith references, with the exception of one scene that briefly alludes to it. Otherwise, it's a continuation of a charming small-town series with plenty of appearances by and references to the previous couples we've met in Adelaide Springs. One of the things I've liked most about this series has been the intergenerational nature of it, with a focus on the older characters that have guided and mentored the younger ones. This book does address heavier and potentially controversial topics, so readers might want to explore some trigger warnings beforehand. Those who have followed along on this journey in the series will be interested in discovering the answers to what happened between Wes and Addie all those years ago, with a dose of the inner workings of an American political campaign.

This is another great installment in Bethany Turner's Adelaide Springs series. I loved checking in with the couples from the two previous books while watching Wes and Addie work through two decades of baggage to find their way back to each other. I liked that the protagonists were a little older (40s) and that they had a long history together. It was very satisfying to see them get their second chance. I also loved the references to pop culture that popped up in their dialogue. I had entirely forgotten about Death to Smoochy and appreciated having that bit of nostalgia brought back to me. This series has solidified Bethany Turner as one of my all-time favorite romance writers!

Wes and Addie Had Their Chance is a second chance love story that has everything you want. Set in a small town in Colorado, Addie and Wes meet again 20 years after Wes left Addie at the alter. They are now living very different lives although both are now widowed. I loved both Addie and Wes and all the side characters too. I want to visit this small town in Colorado. While the book is a romcom, it did have depth which I wasn’t expecting but loved. I recommend this book to everyone.
I received both an audiobook and an ebook and I loved both. The narrators in the audiobook book did a great job.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. Opinions are my own.

This was absolutely perfect! I hadn't read any of the books preceeding this and I didn't need to, but I'm definitely going to now because I have fallen in love with this universe and Bethany Turner's writing.
I love a good political romance and strong, well developed characters. Addie really was an exceptionally well written character who you can't help but love, and I really enjoyed that Turner didn't write Wes as the most redeemable until the end - like low burn redemption? Their romance was slow but fiery and I loved it! I also really appreciated that Turner didn't minimise either of their previous marriages to maximise their relationship with each other. This was beautifully written and engrossing!

Wes and Addie Had Their Chance is Bethany Turner’s latest clean romantic comedy set in the tiny mountain town of Adelaide Springs, Colorado. It’s a second chance romance with mature characters, told from both Addie and Wes’ POV. It can be read as a stand-alone story but will be enjoyed more if read after Brynn and Sebastian Hate Each Other and Cole and Laila are Just Friends.
40-year-old Adelaide “Addie” Atwater Elwyn has been living in her hometown for the past year, trying to get her life back on track. She’s keeping her distance from her high school classmates, Brynn, Cole, and Laila, because she doesn’t want to talk about her failures. Addie is still grieving her late husband, Joel, a CIA operative. She was a behind-the-scenes CIA analyst, and now she’s working a low-paying job and living with her dad, “Doc”. To add insult to injury, Addie keeps seeing her first love, Wesley Hobbes, a senator from Connecticut who is running for president, on TV and in newspapers. Wes was their friend and classmate before abandoning Addie at the altar when they were 18 years old.
When Senator Wesley Hobbes re-appears in tiny Adelaide Springs, Colorado, looking like a GQ model, no one is glad to see him. They remember how he did Addie dirty 22 years ago. He’s figuring out his next steps, since he’s discovered some political bombshells and is considering stepping away from the political arena. Naturally he encounters Addie and needs to clear the air with her. She knows that he’s keeping secrets and can’t resist using her spy skills to ferret them out.
While Addie and Wes are attracted to one another, they have so many obstacles to overcome. In addition to their shared painful past, they each have experienced subsequent tragedies. They are opposites in appearance and personality and live on opposite sides of the country. Readers will wonder if it’s possible for them to find their happily ever after with each other.
Wes and Addie Had Their Chance is a rich character-driven story that contains no profanity or sex scenes. Readers will definitely empathize with Addie. She’s a good woman who has experienced more than her fair share of tragedy but keeps pressing forward. Her father, Doc, is a fountain of wisdom and just an incredible man. The cameos of characters from earlier books add to the story. Addie’s career with the CIA juxtaposes nicely with Wes’ experience in politics.
While Wes and Addie Had Their Chance contains some heavy emotional stuff, the story itself is written in a humorous tone. Addie’s descriptions of things are hilarious, and I especially loved her suggestions for menu items at the Franklin Beans Café. This story gives “all the feels” and is suitable for all adult readers. The book series should definitely be made into a TV series like Bridgerton.
After purchasing the paperback, I received a complimentary ARC copy of this e-book from NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Publishers. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I loved 'Wes and Addie Had Their Chance'. To pitch it as a humor and romance completely undersells how deep and thoughtful this book really is. It provides it all - humor, loss, redemption and love. I highly recommend it and the two other books by the author set in Adelaide Springs, CO. You will have a wonderful experience!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

I really liked this story. While there were parts that were heavier, it was also light and funny. This book was easy to stay engaged with and I found myself looking forward to when I could have time to read it. Overall, I will definitely recommend this book.
