Description

Love is like a snowflake; beautiful but fleeting in its presence…

I’ve been in love. But I’ve also been lied to, betrayed by those closest to me and I’ve suffered loss. Sadly it’s those last three things that stick with me the most. The only real constants in my life are music, Angus my dog and Rhiannon; my guitar.
But things changed when she walked into my place of work. All blue eyes, curves and a warmth that could melt even my hardened heart. I was taken over by feelings that I didn’t expect so soon. Guilt plagued me and I took my anger out on her.
On Mallory.

But I fell fast and hard and there was nothing I could do to stop it. When she too became the victim of heartbreak I was the only one who understood her pain but I was the last person she wanted help from.
Would I ever convince her that we could be friends? And would I ever accept that she couldn’t love me back?

Love is like a snowflake; beautiful but fleeting in its presence…

I’ve been in love. But I’ve also been lied to, betrayed by those closest to me and I’ve suffered loss. Sadly it’s those last three...

Review of Bridge of Hope

Lisa has excelled again in writing Greg's point of view, I went on another emotional roller coaster ride with Greg and Mallory, I cried and laughed then cried again. Lisa certainly knows how to make me cry when it comes to Greg and Mallory.

My heart ached so much for Greg and Mallory in the grief of losing Mairi and Sam it was raw and powerful. I just wanted to jump into the book and hold the pair of them and never let go.

Greg never was the one for expressing his words very good, but brought them

to life in his love of music and his beloved guitar Rhiannon.

Greg has the most terrible potty mouth but this mad me laugh so hard I was crying with laughter.

The playlist was outstanding and complemented the book very well, "well done Lisa" " Excellent taste in music"

Between Greg and Mallory they had so much grief combined and Lisa expressed this in the depth of there emotions, you actually feel like you are in the book standing on the side lines watching these pair play out their life together. And watching there love grow into something very special.

Mallory is such a deep and beautiful character but god I could have screamed at her for keep pushing Greg away at times when she needed him the most, but she was coming to terms with her own grief of losing her beloved Sam, It tore her heart into a thousand pieces and can fully understand that she was confused with the feelings she felt inside for Greg and thought it was wrong of her to have these feelings.

Greg and Mallory are two of the most stubborn people and needed there heads banging together lol which I felt like doing on many occasions. Greg was a grumpy bugger at times, but so was Mallory.

Then there is "Alice" Greg's estranged wife god what a bitch I could have easily slapped her stupid. Deceiving Greg into thinking she was pregnant just to keep him. And then breaking his heart by sleeping with his best friend what a cow. And then has the audacity to try and get him back, but Greg was having none of it you go Greg. She totally got what she deserved and that was a big size ten up her bum out of his life.

Lisa writes the most beautiful, heartfelt, powerful stories with so much emotion and depth.

My heart will be with Greg and Mallory for a very long time.

"Shattered hearts heal and love does concur all."

Greg's character is just brilliant. He's a man's man and also has such passion and emotion that women can't help falling for. I got emotional on many times reading this book. I could feel my heart breaking a few times for both Greg and Mallory and also Sam. This book has it all. Great character, great setting, great storyline full of warmth, humour, sadness, love and passion. Its a real page turner.

When I started this book, I honestly thought how can you read a book that you have pretty much already read just from a different person's point of view? But, as I read, I began to understand. Bridge of Hope is told through Greg's thoughts and his point of view. Sometimes brash and never filtered, as that is how Greg is, the reader gets the "other side" that we didn't get in Bridge Over the Atlantic.

As I read Bridge Over the Atlantic I honestly found myself asking questions about what Greg did with his time while Mallory was out of town, or when she wasn't with him and he was on his own. "Bridge of Hope" answers those questions. And, just like the scene on the beach where Mallory and Greg said their goodbyes to their significant others, this book gives the reader one feeling in the end: closure.

The reader will find the full range of emotions in this book, running from laughing out loud to sentimental tears. You will find yourself feeling for Greg, pulling for him. Although I essentially knew how the book would end, it was interesting to see how the author, Lisa J. Hobman, would write it so that it wasn't exactly like the first book. Even though some of the same conversations were included (they were the best lines of the first book) others were summarized. Hobman did an excellent job writing this book and I would suggest this book to anyone who wants to read a love story from a male's point of view. **Note:I would strongly suggest reading Bridge Over the Atlantic first, as Bridge of Hope is the companion book. **

Yet another 5* read from the lovely Lisa J Hobman.

Bridge of Hope is the story of the delectable Greg McBradden from Lisa’s first book, Bridge over the Atlantic , but can be read as a standalone if you haven’t yet read it.

Greg is everyone’s favourite potty mouthed hunky Scotsman. He is annoying, frustrating, grumpy and moody as well as gorgeous, handy, a talented musician and an incurable romantic.

I loved knowing more about Greg, and where he came from. It filled in all the gaps for me that Bridge over the Atlantic left.

We really see into his being in this story, and can feel the emotion emanating from Lisa’s words. I was in tears more than once, I also laughed out loud, and threw my kindle down in frustration. Once again I lived through his feelings, saw through his eyes, and went off to listen to songs which featured heavily.

I think writing a story from another characters point of view is a difficult decision for any author. It might not work, it might feel like the same book etc etc, but Lisa has managed this perfectly. I never once felt like I was reading the same story, though there were parts where I did think back to Bridge over the Atlantic.

Greg is such an endearing character, you can’t help but fall head over heels in love with him.

I would totally recommend this book. It’s a cracking holiday read and just what I expected from this very talented lady.

Bridge of hope to me is a classic romance story but with an original twist of being told from the man's point of view. And in this case his name is Greg, at times I wanted to shake him and to get a grip when he got emotional but all in all it was refreshing to read it this way round. Mallory also dealing with deamons in her life they were a tragic pair destined to be together!. I give this story 5* and look forward to the next book by Lisa J Hobman

I rate this book 4 stars. Bridge of Hope is about coping with loss. While obviously sad in parts, it still has humor, adventure and the excitement you get when meeting new people and trying new things. The book was mainly about moving on into a new relationship after the person you loved has left you abruptly.

What I liked about it the most is that it is written from a male POV. You get all of the elusive male thinking, emotions and what is going on inside the MC’s head. There was a lot of back and forth between the guy and the new girl. He kept making mistakes and she wasn’t quite sure how to receive him. It will keep you entertained with the way this guy goes through his day to day. Sometimes you want to smack your forehead with the palm of your hand and reach into the book and tell the MC and the girl what is actually going on, play mediator basically. It took me a few chapters to get acquainted with the book but once I did, it kept me interested till the end. The main thing is the guy. You have to read about this guy. I also liked the music and how each song mentioned, explained where he was at in his feelings for this girl. Most of the songs I knew but a few I haven’t heard of before.

My review. I give Bridge of Hope 4 stars.

This is a very emotional read. It is a good story of overcoming tragedy and putting one foot in front of the other to just keep going. A very touching read. Have your tissues ready. Lots of crying moments.

This is a companion novel to Bridge Over the Atlantic but can be read as a standalone. I did not read Bridge Over the Atlantic yet so this book was my introduction to these characters. Greg - I love him. What an amazing man! There was so much angst and drama in this book but I loved it. The writing itself is simply gorgeous. I felt so connected to these characters and could feel their heartbreak. This book made me laugh and made me sad, what a fantastic story! I loved it! Wonderful!!

I have just been WOW'd! lol This is actually a companion book in the hero's POV of Bridge Over The Atlantic. I didn't feel slighted that I had not read Bridge Over The Atlantic, because I felt I was, just if Greg's POV..I will however get to it soon because this book blew me away in many ways.
Greg's character is just phenomenal. He's a man's man and also has such passion and emotion that women can't help falling for. Mallory walking into his life changed him forever. Both of them have tragic pasts. Mallory and Greg’s story is full of heartbreak, laughter and so much more, it will have you laughing and crying all at once. Without revealing any spoilers the scene at the end had me crying very happy tears, it was beautiful. This story is just awesome!

Bridge of Hope, Lisa J. Hobman Review from jeannie zelos book reviews

This is a companion book to Bridge over the Atlantic which I've not read. That one seems to be written from Mallory's POV while this one is from Greg’s. I’ve read a few dual POV books, sometimes it works and sometimes it feels like I'm just reading the same story, and it loses impact. I really prefer getting them in one book, with alternating chapters but this one works as a separate book. I think because this one is so very “into” Greg’s mind and way of thinking it wouldn’t be a problem reading the two, but that they would complement each other. So, there’s poor Greg, still grieving the loss of his girlfriend, killed while mountain climbing. No body yet and though they’ve had a memorial service he’s in a a kind of limbo. The village where he lives though is full of people that support him, and I love the way pub owner and his part time employer Stella pushed him in the directions he needed to go. When he’s retelling his life up to now I couldn’t help thinking “ what a typical male” – I know men like him, who go with the flow, don’t question when they should, and then are surprised when all goes wrong. I don’t mean that meanly, just that some people are so trusting – and then poor Greg got saddled with the bitch-wife Alice. What a horror she was, like a hydra she kept coming back though...and again I though “ Greg- why? Why didn’t you deal with this before?” but I guess we all know people like that – who are easy going and trust everything will work out. Then after Alice there was his beloved Mairi...that must be so hard, not knowing exactly what happened. Then when he’s still learning to cope with that, along comes Mallory and if you could write a “how not to talk to a woman “ manual Greg’s words would be top! He's just so Open Mouth Insert Foot...poor guy. He doesn't mean to offend, far from it, he’s so kind and genuine, but there’s something about Mallory that just makes everything he says come out wrong. Then she suffers heartbreak too and they slowly become friends – Greg of course wants more. He’s plagued with guilt still though and can’t believe how Mallory makes him feel. There are indications that she might return his feelings, but they’re mixed sometimes and instead of thinking maybe she feels the same kind of guilt as he does at times, he just convinced himself she doesn’t want him for more than just friendship, and he needs to move on – and boy, can that guy pick them! His relationship with Mallory goes backwards and forwards, and all the while when he’s mulling over what to do next I'm mentally screaming “ No Greg, just no!!” and of course its a book and he doesn’t hear me....
Its a beautiful story, full of heartbreak and happiness, and showing how easily we could let misplaced guilt and the opinion of others get in the way of true happiness. A perfect ending too – really wrapped things up beautifully. Stars: Five, a great read. Probably a one off for me, but a book which will stay with my for a while because of the things it brought up that made me wonder “what if?” ARC supplied via Netgalley and publishers
