I just finished reading "The Call" by Cathy Schieffelin, and I'm still reeling from the experience. As a student, I don't always have a lot of time to read for pleasure, but this book was impossible to put down.
*The Plot*
The story follows Nate, a journalist, and Juliette, who are brought together by a crisis in the remote Comoros Islands. As they navigate their blossoming relationship, they must confront their pasts and the threat of an unknown virus. I won't give away too many spoilers, but let's just say it's a wild ride.
*The Writing Style*
Cathy Schieffelin's writing is incredible. She has a way of transporting you to the Comoros Islands, making you feel like you're right there with the characters. Her descriptions of the island, the people, and the culture are vivid and immersive.
*What I Liked*
- The characters were well-developed and relatable. I loved watching Nate and Juliette grow and learn from each other.
- The plot was engaging and unpredictable. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, wondering what would happen next.
- The themes of family, friendship, and adventure resonated deeply with me.
*What I Didn't Like*
- Some of the supporting characters felt a bit one-dimensional. I would have loved to see more development of the secondary characters.
- The ending felt a bit rushed. I would have liked a more detailed conclusion.

"The Call" is an incredible novel that will keep you up all night reading. It's a perfect blend of romance, adventure, and mystery, with a unique setting that will transport you to a different world. I really enjoyed reading Nate and Juliette's story and was glad everything was what I was looking for. I was glad everything flowed with the story and was realistically done. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and was glad everything that I was hoping for. Cathy Schieffelin wrote this well and was glad I was able to read this.
