my girls loved this book

I offered to review this book because we study Ancient Greece in 6th grade and I thought it would be a good way to introduce the unit. Even though they are big kids, my student still enjoy having a picture book read to them.

The opening pages show a nice map so that your students can get an idea of where Athen is. It then goes on to covers such topics as ancient ruins, theaters, the Olympics, architecture, and Plato.

The back of the book includes a pronunciation guide for all the Greek words in the story and a glossary for reference.

This is definitely a book I would like to have on my shelf to use in my classroom.

Thanks go out to Calithumpian Press via NetGalley for a copy of the book in exchange of an honest review.

Stunningly bold and colorful illustrations accompany a tale about a cat touring Greece. It includes some Greek phrases and is great for children who want to learn about different cultures. Keekee makes some very cute remarks that inject humor into the story.

KeeKee is a curious kitty who travels around the world learning about new countries! What a wonderful way to introduce children to brand new cultures and language! The book comes with a handy glossary in the back for all of the Greek terms used with definitions and how to pronounce them. The book is packed with information about Greece as KeeKee visits various cities and landmarks, eats the local food, and even gets a history lesson from a guide. It can be a little overwhelming and the facts are thrown in pretty randomly, but overall the book gives a pretty good introduction to the notable sites, food, and people of the country. KeeKee is adorable and the book is wonderfully illustrated and colorful. My daughter and I really enjoyed the illustrations for this book. It was a little bit advanced for my Kindergartner, but I would definitely recommend this for older elementary school children.

Travelling around the world is so exciting and KeeKee, the calico kitty invites you to accompany her in her hot air balloon because she is flying off to Athens, Greece. Athens is one of the oldest cities in the whole wide world. Want to jump aboard and join her?

She is a first class traveller and when she lands she beckons to you to tag along as she explores the famous Greek sights: the Parthenon, the historic theatres, run the olympic stadium with her, and discover the place were Play-doh is created, just to name a few.

The shopping in Athens is divine and the food utterly amazing. She stuffs herself on moussaka, olives and tzatziki until she herself looks like a stuffed olive herself.

She is educated on the history of Athen's ancient building designs and Plato. Plato was a very, very smart man, and while a philosopher, was also a mathematician and very famous and influential in ancient Greece.

The clever author has included a Prononciation guide and Glossary of words, phrases and places at the back of the book. The illustrations are colourful and expressive and young readers will be delighted to become KeeKee's travelling companion and explore beautiful Athens with her. No only is this book entertaining it is also educational which I really like.

KeeKee is an adventurous calico cat who explores the world, travelling to new places in her hot air balloon. This is the next in a series of books telling of her adventures and this time, as the title suggests, she is visiting Athens in Greece. The story is written with greeting in Greek and English. KeeKee explores the major sites, including the Parthenon and Olympic stadium, eats Greek food, learns about architectural styles and visits the island of Santorini. There are a pronunciation guides and glossary at the end of the book. KeeKee is a brilliant main character through whom children will enjoy being introduced to Greece and its history. I can certainly imagine other teachers welcoming this book as a fantastic way in which to introduce work about Greece to their pupils!
