I really enjoyed this book. Good start for the holiday season

When it's a Christmas story, with a heroine who is a pastry chef, and food is a major point in the story -- it is pretty much an instant winner with me.
And The Trouble with Christmas didn't disappoint. It is a heartwarming tale with many positive life messages, closeness and love of a family, as well as adorable romance.
The Putnam family, the closeness, the care and acceptance of Lily, and each other, as well as the community, is enough in itself to put you into Christmas spirits.
How the whole island pulls together, to 'save the Christmas' of a restaurant is inspiring.
For Cole and Lily to realize and accept the love and joy within each other, in such a stressful time in their lives is breathtaking. And all the life lessons Lily learns in the process is uplifting.
Just a cheerful story to get you into the joyful Christmas spirits ~ four spoons!

A story about starting over, “The Trouble with Christmas” follows beautiful pastry chef Lily Edmonds whose fiancé just dumped her and former Wall Street hedge fund manager Cole Stanton.

While Lily had been visiting Indigo Island since she was a kid, Cole recently moved there to begin a new career as a restaurant owner. He has one problem though; Cole might be used to moving millions of dollars in Wall Street, but he did not understand the dynamics of running a small town restaurant.

First, they teamed up out of need. Yet, there are sparks between them. The question is, are they ready to take another step while they are still recovering from their past

Short, sweet and adorable read, “The Trouble with Christmas” is Rated M for Mature due to sexual content.

Just finished The Trouble With Christmas by Kaira Rouda. I deeply fell in love with Cole and Lily's story. The journey they each had to take to heal and find peace for past mistakes ended up leading them to each other. Helped along by good friends. Could not put this book down finished in one day. Beautiful story--that leaves you smiling.

Lily Edmonds just got dumped by her fiance right before Christmas and to make things worse on Christmas day the jerk is marrying someone else. Come in best friend Avery with a solution; Avery takes Lily to her family's home on Indigo Island to try and cheer her up.

Cole Stanton is the new guy on Indigo Island; having left behind an unfulfilling life, he is trying to make a go at it as a restaurant owner. When Cole and Lily meet is like love at first sight, Lily is of course more guarded granted that she was just recently crying her eyes out over her broken engagement.

The story is sweet, there is no drama or conflict between Cole and Lily, the story is about both of them coming together over shared interest and bonding. This is the perfect, optimistic, cheery holiday read everyone that will leave you wanting cookies and sprinkles.

What a great Christmas read of two people that are starting over and not expecting to find love. Cole is starting a new career on Indigo Island of owning a restaurant, a little over whelmed for the holidays. Lily, pastry chef, is there over a broken engagement, staying with Putnam family ( who we have met in previous Indigo Island book). There is a sizzling attraction between these two, but can Lily open her heart again. Loved all the talk of the holiday, southern food and all of the Christmas decorations. This book will surely put you in the Christmas mood.

This is another wonderful holiday story from this publisher and author. Lily, a chef, was painfully dumped by her fiancee and to cheer her up, her best friend takes her to an island off the coast of the Carolinas to her family's house. Cole moved to the island after he decided he wanted to help others. With a little matchmaking by her friend Avery and Avery's family, she and Cole get together after she volunteers to help at his restaurant. This is a keeper to read each Christmas-it reminds me of family, friends and getting together to enjoy each other's company and the season.

The Trouble with Christmas is a very light delightful read where the main character is facing what he thinks is burn out from his high stress, high paced job. He comes South to start over with a local Indigo Island restaurant. Who hasn’t felt like Cole Stanton sometimes in their life? He is so easy to identify with especially when he turns around and overcommits the small restaurant putting him in the same kind of situation from which he has been trying to leave behind. Lily, along with the community comes to help save the restaurant’s Christmas plans.

I love how Cole learns that he needs to run to something, namely Lily, instead of trying to avoid the life that he thinks he doesn’t want. Lily makes the perfect soul mate for Cole. She balances him out.

This is a quick pick-me-up kind of read. If you are in need of a save Christmas kind of story, The Trouble with Christmas is perfect. There is no trouble with this story. Delightful from beginning to end.

Great, romantic read! Loved the characters in this book, oh and the food! Had me drooling. Lily came to Indigo Island after suffering a breakup with fiance Bob. She wasn't sure she would ever love again. The funny thing about love is you never know when you'll find it! I definitely recommend this wonderful holiday read.

A newly-minted restaurant entrepreneur and an aspiring chef both look to jumpstart their lives on Indigo Island. Will they (with their friends'/employees' help) help one another start anew, save the struggling restaurant, and invent a new career for her? Well-paced, likable characters, seasonal appeal. Recommended.

This is such a cute little book. I usually don't like reading short books I always feel like the story is rushed and not a good storyline. Well that is not true with this book the storyline was well written, it draws you in and keeps you going through out the whole book. I love the relationship between Avery and Lilly, is such a sweet friendship and you can tell that to each other they mean the world. I love each one of the character in the book. This may be a short read but a well written read and a good Christmas story to boot. Down to earth characters and you will not go wrong getting this book.

Very wonderful story of love found when not expected. Lily & Cole meet on Indigo Island where he has taken refuge to from his former life & Lily is there trying to mend her broken heart. Sparks fly fast between them & romance is in their future.. Trying to take it slow doesn't work for them as they move head long into their relationship.. Definitely recommend to read. The series as a whole is great.

A lovely sweet Christmas story set on Indigo Island. This is actually the third book in the Indigo Island series but works well as a standalone, too.

Lily Edmonds is a pastry chef and engaged to be married to Bob until she got the call to tell her he was dumping her to marry someone else on Christmas Day. He told her to keep the ring! Devastated, she is reluctant to tell her best friend, Avery, but - as usual - once she knows, Avery comes to the rescue! She finds another chef to cover her job and arranges to whisk Lily off to her family home on Indigo island for Christmas.

Already on the island is Cole Stanton. He’s recently purchased an island restaurant which was in danger of going bankrupt. He’s also trying to make up for his past life and make things better for others - but he knows nothing about the restaurant business other than as a customer and he’s drowning, and the business is still in danger!

When the two literally bump into each other the attraction is instantaneous and hot. The electricity between them sizzles - but can they trust it and will it last? They introduce each other and Lily offers to help him sort out the restaurant. How can she go from being devastated at losing Bob to instant attraction to Cole? Can she trust her feelings? Can Cole overcome her reluctance to have a relationship with him? Will this be a disastrous liaison or a recipe for true love?

A heart warming, lovely festive read that works well whatever the season, a great book to escape into!
