If you’re looking for an embroidery book and you like the patterns on the cover, then I say pick this up! I have Jessica Long’s other embroidery book, so I jumped on this ASAP. Inside, you will find 25 really cool embroidery patterns complete with detailed instructions. There is also a comprehensive stitch guide as well as detailed information on stumpwork and thread painting. I’d never heard of stumpwork before and now I’m obsessed. I can’t wait to try it!
I think this has some pretty good information for beginner to advanced embroiderers. There’s a variety of patterns, so you can pick something you feel comfortable with stitching or want to challenge yourself with. There’s a lot of information and advice, and I like how it gets you pumped up to start stitching before you get to the patterns. I can’t wait to purchase this book when it drops.

This was a super helpful book especially for beginners who might have never worked with wool or wire or any of the extras found in embroidery. The instructions are straightforward and easy to follow and they designs are beautiful. Definitely one that I would recommend and one I will be using myself.

Wow! What a wonderful, wonderful book, chock full of practical information and gorgeous detailed projects. The author explains stumpwork as well as traditional embroidery, tools needed, tips (such as using two pieces of fabric rather than one which is a game changer), techniques, thread painting, choosing floss and hoops, how to transfer and how to begin and finish the project. Her reminder to be unafraid of mistakes is a good one. It seems obvious but when I first started, mistakes drove me nuts but they can take one into different learning directions and new territories. She encourages creating projects from personal inspiration. The variety of stitches is amazing and well illustrated. The photography is stunning and instructions very clear.
Embroidery is one of my favourite things to do. It is immensely therapeutic, drives creativity, hones skills, and produces incredible art. Who wouldn't love to receive a beautiful project made with love? The projects in this book are all lovely but my favourites include the bluebird, bumblebee bouquet, festive feathers, magic snail (open base picot stitches amaze me - where have I been?), raccoon and tufted titmouse wreath.
I love, love, love this book and happily pored over the projects with a happy heart. The first project I make will be the sweet magic snail. Newest beginners will be thrilled with this book which doesn't omit any steps but the novice and even expert will find inspiration, too.

This book is GREAT! I've been wanting to elevate my embroidery practice with 3D/Stumpwork embroidery, and this book is perfect for that. I definitely recommend this book after you've had a few practice projects to learn the basic stiches. I like how there are varying levels of difficulty in the projects, and the book has an excellent breakdown of everything you need to know and clear lists of supplies needed. I'm particularly excited to try out the Bumblebee Bouquet (those lil bees are SO cute and fuzzy), the Beetle Collection, the Axolotl Aquarium, and the Blue Dragonfly (when I'm feeling extra brave). A huge thank you to Fox Chapel and Netgalley for gifting me with an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts.
