heartfelt, secretly futuristic parading as a war time thriller, there are complex themes and straight-up characters we are engaged with, who display all the allegiances and demands on each other that real friends do - only here they are in extraordinary circumstances; hybrid humans altered to a wartime agenda involved Eytan, altered himself in experiments as a child; former MI5,then Mossad agent, this is the second book in series - action packed, pulling all the right heart strings too - things mostly go right except stakes are high and sometimes things go wrong. This is a terrific series.

David Khara once again writes a taut, fast thriller that weaves remnants of WWII atrocities with present day military aspirations. Khara does an expert job of taking his protagonist, a holdover from Nazi experiments, and places him on the frontlines of military efforts to meld men and machines. This is one tale whose back to the future aspect is balanced by its references to Oscar Pistorius and the future his capacities suggest. Sophie Weiner, the expert translator, manages again to produce a book in Americanized English that is indistinguishable from one originally written in it. The language and idioms are perfect. No awkwardness in language exists at all, as the story flows with characters from Israel, Poland, England, Germany, the U.S. and Argentina. This is the third in a series, and while it is enjoyable to read earlier books, it is not essential.

David Khara does it again! Another brilliant thriller with one of my favorite charecters - Eytan. Everything about this book is pitch-perfect - from the plotting to the pacing to the charecters. And the language - this is what a good translation is! You can't tell that it was originally written in French, the language is absolutely pitch-perfect. Highy, highly recommended!

In book 3 of the “Consortium” series, author David Khara brings back Jeremy Corbin and Jacqueline Walls in “The Morgenstern Project”.

Once again, the non-stop action that makes the Consortium series a thriller is peppered with emotional upheavals that add to the story line making it precious. Just like in The Bleiberg Project (book 1), author David Khara is very successful in making the readers emotionally involved with the characters.

The result: readers suffer with the characters for every hurt, every pain, every sensation they feel.

Again as in the first book when I reviewed “The Bleiberg Project” I cannot reveal more about the plot than what the book description below says because it will be a spoiler.

Be rest assured; I had to speed read it the first time so that I can satisfy my curiosity on what happens next. Then, I read it a second time so that I can enjoy the nuances of the characters.

Once again, author David Khara did not disappoint. Jeremy Corbin, Jacqueline Walls and Eytan Morgenstern held my attention from beginning to end.

The Morgenstern Project is Rated T for Teens due to violence. There are no sex scenes in this book.

Another cracking yarn from the Consortium series! It rattles along at an energetic pace and whisks up some of the familiar, much loved characters in a frenzy of counter-terrorism to save the world - and Eytan - from a new scientific threat. It interleaves the contemporary action with an equally riveting back-story from the Second World War in a much more satisfying way than in earlier books, adding depth to the enigmatic hero as the series progresses. I'm not quite sure how it can, but long may it continue!

Splitting the action into multiple time periods, this thriller is engrossing from the very first page.. It has Nazis, secret societies, compelling characters and a story worth telling.. Khara writes with just the right level of detail to create great mental images and keep the story moving.. Whether it is the forests of Poland during WWII, England post war, South America, or present day America, the action is exciting, the plot is thrilling, and the human interaction compelling. I wish the book could have been longer, I hated to see it end.

David S. Khara writes here the third and final part of his trilogy about projects (The Bleiberg Project - which I really liked The Shiro Project - not read yet - and The Morgenstern Project).

We meet back Eytan with pleasure, the Mossad giant, who this time doesn't come alone but with two accomplices who are part of his family... sort of... but I leave you the pleasure of discovering how and why. This is one of the parts that I liked the most in this third installment: discovering Eytan story. Having not read the second book, I don't know if we learned more about him and his story but here! it's really interesting and it makes him even more human (proof that GMO can be good for humans. Mouhaha!) The book is divided into two parts, like in the first book but if the discovery of History let us understand the plot in The Bleiberg Project, this time it helps us to understand Eytan and his rage to remain free. Because this time, Eytan is the project.

Once again, the author captivates us with a Historical thread- always well documented - that not only will interest all the history of the war and particularly its lesser known parts (Polish resistance, manhunt, medical tests on Jews, etc.) lovers , but also helps us to better understand the present. I'm thinking that this is a topic of interest for the author who brilliantly highlights the saying that one cannot know his future without knowing one's past. Khara proves this through his stories full of adventure and that, in itself, is already great.

Along with the knowledge of History, we discover Eytan's story: where he comes from and how he became who he is, and we also experience an incredible story, always at a steady and flawless pace. We don't read this book, we watch it like we would watch an amazing action movie. (Probably why the Hollywood studios are interested...) Eytan, accompanied by his two accomplices Eli and Avi meet back with Jeremy and Jacqueline, and finds himself hunted and hunter. Well certainly, the outcome is a little easy but there is no shortage of nervousness, suspense and humor, which is always nice in a thriller.

Again, Khara speaks of modified men and, thanks to his extensive research, mixes reality and almost science fiction. Almost, because one wonders if it's not already a reality somewhere... It's about members and particularly powerful prosthesis that bring the quest for superior man even further.

In a nutshell

Another success for David S. Khara who perfectly completes his trilogy. It is action packed, captivating history and interesting characters. This is to read and it's a 4.5 / 5 for me.

The cover of the book caught my eye, since I enjoy historical novels, especially about WW2, but this book is so much more than that!

Set in the present day, Eytan is a super-human of sorts, a former prisoner who survived the death camps of the Holocaust and the medical experiments. While working as an intelligence agent, his paths cross again with someone trying to capture him. With the help of his friends, he must escape his past demons and his current pursuers.

Awesome, fast paced novel. I just wish I had realized it was book 3! Bought the first two to read now.

This is the third in the series, and brings back people from the first two books. This thriller, besides being non-stop, shows you more of the positive influences that made Eytan Morgenstern the somewhat super agent that he is. The story this time is mainly between World War II Poland and the U.S. I could not put it down, and if there are no further books in the series, I hope everyone stays well.

It 's a gripping thriller, adventurous, with many compelling characters and an engaging and well built storyline.
Jackie Walls and Jeremy Cobin are a young American couple from New Jersey. He has a shop, she is a police officer and they have a beautiful baby girl, Annie. During their trip very adventurous in Europe they have known Eytan Morgestern that helped and rescued them. Jackie and Jeremy have not heard from him until he reappears in their lives to save them again from an attacks. This time offers them to join him in his fight. During World War II, in Poland, he was victim of an experiment: now they're looking because they want to study him and maybe try to repeat the experiment on other people. Their team also belong Eli Karman, an old man, Greg, responsible for the security of Jackie and Jeremy, and Avi, a charming doctor. Can they defend and save him?
The various characters in this novel are many and all well characterized. Eytan is a brave man although mysterious, is an Israeli agent, his past not know anyone with accuracy. He was deported to a camp in Poland during the war and they underwent him an experiment. Jackie is a brave woman, with a strong sense of duty. She loves her family but also loves her work which performs in an excellent way.
It 's a thriller adventurous and exciting, full of twists, suspense and mystery. In this story, nothing is missing: there is conspiracy, sects and secret alliance. attacks, war strategies, experiments and can not miss a bit of love and romance. It 's very well written, with a style and a language simple and essential, also the various descriptions are minimalist and effective, enrich the text but does not make it heavy and boring. The pace is very fast and captivating: the history alternate continuously past and present, and often changes the city in which the action takes place. We pass continuously from Poland of 1942/43, to the contemporary New Jersey, through present and wartime London and with escape briefly to Tel-Aviv.
It's the third book in the series "Consortium Thriller", can be read as a stand-alone but for an easier and understandable reading, I recommend reading the series in order.
I recommend it to those who love thrillers and novels full of action and adventure I have received this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

A really good story as an excellent sequel to the previous Eytan book. If you enjoy Dan Brown or Clive Cussler style adventure stories, then this is a book you will love.
It moves along at a cracking pace and would make a great film.
The story moves back and forward on a timeline but it does it well and clearly and the reader is in no doubt as to what historical aspect of the story they are reading. One weakness of an e-book, is it is no good labelling the chapter 'Poland Spring of 1943', as unlike a book where the reader can quickly flick back a few pages to see who/what/why, an e-book is not so easy. A few key words from the author at each timeline jump, to lock the reader in, is done very well in this story.
Excellent and seamless translation from the original French makes for an enjoyable read.

It is difficult to express in words how much The Morgenstern Project moved my thoughts and emotions. I received a copy from Eidelwess and really took my time reading it. I tried to digest it slowly because this was Morg's story. It was told simultaneously alternating between Morg's past and Morg's current life as he fights on the current front against the Consortium's machinations and his fight to distance himself from the Bleiberg project. Morg is this larger than life Mossad agent who hunts war criminals, typically those from World War II.

In The Morgenstern Project Morg meets up again with Jackie and Jeremy whom we met in the first book, The Bleiberg Project. They developed a deep bond with Eytan Morgenstern in that story which continues though they have not seen him since the events in that book ended. Jackie and Jeremy are targeted by a faction of the U.S. government who have been made aware of Morg's longevity and they want to study him and are willing to use whatever means they can to capture him, including targeting his friends and whatever family he may have. As the story progresses Eli tells the story of how he met Morg and how their lives had intertwined throughout the many years. We also meet more of Morg's family and as they fight this new front created by The Consortium we step through Morg's childhood and learn about his history.

The Morgenstern Project is the best of the series so far. As far as I can tell the series grows in character development, story development and David Khara, the author, grows in writing, story and character development skills as well. The book is full of excitement, action and the technology and niche of this story regarding Morg's physical abilities. As I read about Morg's past and the current story I was struck with a huge sadness for what he and the people of Poland went through during World War II and for what some of the story depicted during the current day part of the story. The Morgenstern Project draws you into everyone's lives in the story. At one point I was literally moved to tears and that is not something that easily occurs for me when reading a story, but David Khara wrote a very moving story and I look forward to seeing what happens next.

Another in the series about Eytan Morgenstern, who as a young boy was experimented on in a Nazi camp and become almost super-human. It is a thrilling story weaving between Eytan's escape from the Nazi doctor, his joining up and training with the Polish resistance and "current day" prosthetic development and military aspirations for humans. Eytan and his friends once again are pulled into fighting the Consortium and a clandestine military group trying to improve the abilities of the fighting being via prosthetics. Adventurous, page-turning, fast paced action!

‘War is horrible, but slavery is worse’ (Winston Churchill)

Jeremy Corbin, his wife Jacqueline Walls and their baby daughter Annie were living a quiet life in suburban New Jersey. Then, one day, a series of events shattered the calm and their friend Eytan Morgenstern saved them. Why is the group, known as the Consortium, after Jeremy and Jacqueline? And who is Eytan Morgenstern?

As the story unfolds, we learn more about Eytan Morgenstern and his past. It becomes clear that many people are interested in Eytan Morgenstern: his superhuman strength is one of the legacies of Nazi experimentation. The novel moves between past and present, between London, Tel Aviv, Poland and Manhattan. Eytan Morgenstern may have spent much of his life bringing Nazi war criminals to justice, but the threats to him personally have never been greater. Is it possible for Eytan Morgenstern to break free of the past - can Jeremy and Jacqueline help him?

It’s difficult to review this novel without introducing spoilers, although I’m trying to resist that. It’s also the third novel in a series, and I’ve yet to read the first two books. Suffice to say that there is plenty of action, and sometimes the distinction between the good guys and the bad guys is not easy to make. This is a fast moving thriller which draws on some of the atrocities of World War II as providing some potential for current military aspirations. Individuals are not important in this world, except, perhaps as vehicles for (or recipients of) the science behind strength.

While I intend to read the other books in the series (The Bleiberg Project and The Shiro Project) at some stage, The Morgenstern Project is sufficiently self-contained to be read as a standalone novel.

Note: My thanks to NetGalley and Le French Book for an opportunity to read this novel.

The Morgenstern Project is a fast-paced thriller that requires your full attention if you want to keep up with the action and the plot that switches between present day America and WWII events in Europe. Although this is the third book in a series, I felt it was enough self-contained to read it as a standalone. It did take me a while to understand the role of the Consortium because it was meagerly explained in the book.
The story of the novel draws on the issues of war atrocities and the use of individuals as pawns in political games. Eytan as a victim of WWII genetic experiments spends his life hunting and killing the people who ‘created’ him, his actions on occasion blurring the lines between good and bad and perhaps proving that his creators have won as they managed to create the perfect killing machine. I felt the attempts to show him as a feeling individual, as someone who only keeps his distance from the people surrounding him to keep them safe, were rather awkward.
In general, character portrayal is not the priority in The Morgenstern Project, the suspenseful action is. And there’s plenty of that. I actually preferred the WWII scenes in Poland because they felt more grounded in history and individual characters, while the hunt across the US felt ‘emotionally-empty’ compared to Eytan’s past struggles.
At the beginning of the novel, the chapters are told from the point-of-view of a number of different characters. This certainly introduces a fast pace from the very beginning, but I struggled to keep up. But once the story got going, I couldn’t put it down.

The book begins in the concentration camp in 1942. Eytan is running away from the camp. The book jumps to Iraq 2003 and an attack on a Marine unit in a Humvee. Only one of the four soldiers make it. Next we find ourselves in present day New Jersey. Jeremy has opened a bookstore called Morg’s Universe. Jackie, in a deputy sheriff’s uniform, comes in to the store. She asks him to pick up the baby because she has to finish some paperwork. Jackie gets a strange telephone call about an impending attack with a code Model 2003. She knows immediately who is calling her. Jeremy has prepared dinner and is waiting for Jackie to come home when a computer geek arrives early to fix Jackie’s laptop. He tackles Jeremy and the two hide out in the basement while a military group searches the house for them. The geek continues to talk to someone through a microphone. Finally Jeremy asks who he is talking to and the giant shows himself.

The book jumps from Eytan’s youth to present day. We learn how he adapted after the experiments. We see the team (Eytan, Eli, Avi, Jackie, and Jeremy) work together against the U.S. military and the Consortium. This book was amazing. Just like the previous two books it was full of adventure and intrigue. The action moves so fast you don’t want to stop reading because you don’t want to miss anything. Since I finished the trilogy I miss the characters and wonder what will happen in their future.

This is the third book in The Consortium series and is just as good as the rest. The book does retell some of story from the previous books for those like myself who needed a memory jog, however, the reader would still have missed a lot if the previous books have not been read. Here's hoping for a fourth volume.

I had to read it cuz I read the other books. My main complaint is it was too short

Eytan is a good guy. He was an experiment of the Nazis. He escapes the nazis and exacts revenge on his torturers. He discovers and unmasks the secret Consortium. Where did this corporation come from. This book is all about Eytan. Everyone wants to dissect and study him due to the Nazi experiments done to him. Being Eytan's friend is dangerous. Why? Eytan is back to destroy his enemies and protect his friends.

This story could be read without reading the first two but that would be a loss for the reader. The writing is excellent. The characters are described very well. It is a fast paced thriller.

I have liked this series from the first book and I liked this one too. It has nailbiting action, and tons of suspense in this mystery. If you like spy or espionage stories, these books will be a real find. I do like those kinds of books but what truly hooks me with these books is the hero.
Here is a man, really a superman of sorts, who is both tragic and heroic and quite loveable. This is not how one would expect to describe an assassin but somehow by mixing the interactions he has with both his friends and his enemies in present day and his backstory, he comes out as someone for whom one roots and cheers.
This outing starts strong and never lets up. Eytan must deal with his foes from the Consortium but also a clandestine military group in the US who think having a superhuman fighting force is a good idea. They have the mechanics down but they would like to get their hands on Eytan to see what are his secrets.
While the currect story is spinning, we also glimpse backwards to the time just after he escaped his Nazi captors and joined the Polish resistance. Without getting in the way of the action narrative, his battles to re-establish himself as a human being are intensely moving.
We also learn more of his relationships with Eli and his brother whom he "adopted" on the ship to America after the war. Their history together is complex but again, it is extremely moving. Without giving too much away, if there are future books, it will be interesting to see what happens after this story ends to the various characters.
I do hope there is another one. Did I mention? I like this series.

Of the two books that I have read of the Consortium Series, this is the better one. The author has expanded on what I hope is a fantastical idea that was created during the Holocaust. As with many books of this genre, the supporters have gone underground to keep their projects and research alive. And our heroes are trying to ferret them out and destroy both them and the projects. Again, Khara has written a thriller that is both fun, fast paced and lively. For this kind of book, I'm finding that the characters are quite drawn out and the reader grows some feelings for each one. Enough so that I hope there is another book in the series that gets translated into English.
I continue to be surprised that the author is French. I have some knowledge of French mysteries and thrillers and this is so "American". I'm not complaining, I thoroughly enjoyed the reading. As one reviewer put it:
"this is compulsive reading and don't plan to sleep once you've started!"
I agree!

Another rollicking tale in the life of Eytan Morg as he battles the evil Consortium. Split between the past and present Eytan's life in WW2 provides a lot of background to the triology. I think the two stories would probably both have been better published separately as two novellas, this would have allowed Eytan's childhood to have been explored in more detail. Still a cracking read for any thriller lover!

Third in this series about Eytan Morgenstern a Jewish boy/man made into a superhuman by Nazi Doctor's experiments. The Consortium Is out to capture him and either destroy or find out why the experiments worked on him and not on the others that received the injections. Eytan's friend and mentor is killed, but Jeremy and Jackie are there to protect him. I expect this series will continue.

I love a story that travels to different cities around the world. Jeremy Corbin and Jacqueline Walls lead a normal life in a New Jersey suburb, when one day everything changes. The Mossad operative, Eytan Morgenstern, is once again fighting those who wish to study his superhuman body. The self-sacrificing secret agent must rely on the help of his friends to finally free himself of the physical and emotional scars of his past.

“The Morgenstern Project” wBook was published in 2015 and was written by David Khara (http://www.dskhara.com). Mr. Khara has published 6 novels, three in the “Consortium” series. This is the third book in that series.

I would categorize this novel as ‘R’ as there are instances of Violence and Mature Language. Most of the action in this volume is in the contemporary US.

The primary characters are Mossad agent Eytan Morgenstern, along with close friends and allies Eli Karman, Jeremy Corbin, Jacqueline “Jackie” Walls Corbin, and Avi Lafner. This volume picks up several months after the second volume "The Shiro Project" ended. Morgenstern, Karman and Lafner are sent out on their own, officially severed from the Mossad, to track down who in the US military is after Morgenstern.

Before they can begin in ernest, Morgenstern, Karman and Lafner must rescue Corbin and Walls from commandos. Now working as a five person team they must identify who is after Morgenstern. They run into former US Marines who are now augmented with ‘super’ prosthetics, making them formidable adversaries. While they discover that the interest in Morgenstern has been manipulated by the Consortium, they still must forge ahead and address the rogue Marine unit head on.

This volume also contained many flash backs to Morgenstern’s early years. His time with the Polish resistance starting shortly after his escape from the research facility was told. This had little directly to do with the primary story, but did provide more of a background to Morgenstern.

I liked the plot of this novel, though I do not think it was as good a story as the first two volumes in the series. It took around 6 hours to complete this spy thriller novel. I thought it was a solid story. I give this novel a 3.6 (rounded up to a 4) out of 5.

My book reviews are also published on Goodreads (https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/31181778-john-purvis).
