VANISHED by DR DAVID JEREMIAH is a novel written by a well known Bible scholar, an expert in last days prophecy and Biblical truth, and is totally based on the Word of God. It is a wake up call as we see how the lawlessness described in the book lines up with that of today. The characters and their emotions are very well portrayed.
Major General John Haggerty of the United States army is the commander of the Potential Pandemis Task Force. There is a new type of corona virus in Europe and he is trying unsuccessfully to halt its progress. He takes his job very seriously. He is a man who is doing his best, in his own strength, to make life better for everyone. It is almost as though he is trying to make up for the way he failed his family. His executive officer and best friend, Caleb Johnson, is a committed Christian who lives his faith and is trying to get through to his troubled friend ……..
The story is about the choices we make, family dynamics and the battle between good and evil.
I cannot recommend this wonderful book strongly enough.
I was given a free vopy of the book by NetGalley from Thomas Nelson. The opinions in this rebiew are completely my own.

The situations that are depicted in this book could happen today in our world.

John asks his daughter Sonya to help translate as she knows Italian, they try to contain the virus there, but a person with known suceptibility to the virus has been let go and John and Sonya see him in a cave they are exploring.

Just then they hear a rumble and shaking noise, the cavern is being hit by an earthquake - Sonya is seriously hurt and John, a doctor tries to help the other wounded. They only have a days worth of water left...

Dr. David Jeremiah is one of the best teachers of our time and he has penned one of the best apocalyptic fiction books I’ve ever read in Vanished. If you are a fan of Christian Apocalyptic Thrillers, this one is definitely for you.

I received an advanced reader’s copy from Thomas Nelson and Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

This is the first non-fiction book I've read by Dr. Jeremiah, although I have previously enjoyed many of his other works. I highly recommend this compelling narrative, which tackles the significant topic of the Rapture. It is my hope that it will spark interest among readers, both believers and non-believers.
The story follows John "Haggs" Haggerty, a medical doctor who struggles with guilt over the death of his young son, an event that also led to the end of his marriage. He currently is part of a military unit working to prevent another deadly pandemic from spreading worldwide, against a backdrop of increasing wars, earthquakes, and other natural disasters, including famine.
While on assignment in Italy, where he is permitted to bring along his adult daughter—who is fluent in Italian—they find themselves victims of a devastating natural disaster. Although Haggs believes he is a good person with a heart for helping others, he has not fully embraced his friends' and family's personal relationships with God. Just as he thinks his life is starting to get back on track, Haggs is forced to make difficult, life-changing decisions.
This fast-paced story captured my attention from the very first page and kept me engaged until the last.

Dr. David Jeremiah is an all time favorite of mine. His writing pulls me in and also makes me sit down and look at my life and myself and what I can learn from his writing. The choices we make affect our daily life? Good or bad. It reminds us to be a committed Christian and live our life the way He would want us to live. THank you once again for a read that tries to help me cope with my walk .

Vanished is the first book in a new fiction series by Dr. David Jeremiah that revolves around the end times/rapture. I really enjoyed the buildup in the novel to get some good building of the books main characters. With this being the first book in the series, I feel like a lot of the plot was buildup to the ultimate cliffhanger at the end of the book but it ended in a good way and I look forward to seeing how the story continues in the next book. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys thrillers and this one is well done.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in advance.

Vanished
Dr. David Jeremiah
John (Haggs) Haggerty is a problem solver and has a stubborn will. Which explains why he is the leader of a military unit; their mission is to prevent the spread of diseases that cause a pandemic. Haggs observes the increase in natural catastrophes. There are epidemics, seismic activity, food shortage, conflicts and allegations of war. The world seems to be falling apart. His demanding career as a Army Physician hasn’t been good for his family. He knows he placed work before the people he loves; he’s made poor decisions, which he regrets. He wants to reestablish a relationship with his family if it isn’t too late. The death of his young son is devasting and the cause of his failed marriage. He is on assignment in Italy along with his adult daughter who is working with him as an interpreter when a natural disaster hits. Haggs has a heart for helping others, but does he know Jesus as his Savior?
Author Dr. David Jeremiah is a well know Christian speaker; he has written numerous books, but this is his first foray into fiction. The characters are interesting and well developed. Book, one helps set the scene for the following books. This tale ended with a cliffhanger. I enjoyed reading this tale and look forward to the next installment.
This is the first book in a new series with the focus on the Christian faith and end times/rapture.
Thank you Net Galley for the ARC.

Fact or fiction? The lines are blurred in this gripping story that feels ripped from today’s news. With well-developed characters and compelling scenarios, this is a story that felt completely real.
Even though I knew the “big event” was coming, it still caught me off guard. I had chills and tears seeing the beginning of the end through beloved characters’ eyes. It made me realize how utterly devastating the “big disappearance” will be.
I am glad this is the start of a new series because I need more! I am eagerly awaiting the sequel. You do not want to miss this exciting new novel by Dr. David Jeremiah!

Thought provoking, inspirational, hopeful, realistic. Vanished by Dr. David Jeremiah is all of this and more. Pandemics, increased natural disasters, increased violence - sounds like today. 'Vanished' or 'left behind'?

Releases July 1st. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Vanished by Dr. David Jeremiah and Sam O’Neal is a contemporary story that is so well written it feels like it is actually happening. This story is so good. It brings to life the events the Bible tells will lead to the Rapture. It gives a look into what the end times might look like and how those left behind will respond. The characters in the story are a nice mixture of professional and personal characters in John’s life with a blend of Christian and non-Christian, which helps make the story realistic.

The story starts out focusing on a new deadly illness that John and his team are responsible for stopping. He has a limited relationship with his ex wife and daughter, yet he reached out to his daughter to help him with a national crisis. I totally enjoyed this story. I enjoyed reading the background information on John and his family. It is interesting to see how he tried to correct old wrongs, how his ex and daughter have turned to God and how his daughter tries to talk to him about it. I found it interesting to see how John and his friend’s daughter knew of God yet didn’t take the step to make a personal relationship with him. I look forward to seeing how they move forward.

I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book; this is my honest review.

This novel about the rapture belongs definitely to the better ones of the genre, and I'm looking forward to the next one of the series.
The characters are relatable, the discussions about Christian themes are not too pushy, the style engaging and the suspense will keep you reading.

Vanished by Dr. David Jeremiah is a gripping, faith-based novel about a global crisis and spiritual battle.

The story follows John Haggerty, head of the U.S. Pandemic Task Force, and his friend Caleb Johnson, who offers hope through faith.

A powerful tale of redemption—I highly recommend it.

Major General John "Haggs" Haggerty has risen in the ranks of the military and now presides over a pandemic task force. His medical and military training have given him a unique perspective that hopefully will help stem the rise the global health crises. But in his rise to the top, his choices have caused a family rift, and he can't let go of the past. His best friend and military buddy, Caleb, has tried through the years to share his faith with John. But the scars on his soul run deep and John wants nothing to do with spiritual things. When an opportunity arises for John to reconnect with his adult daughter, he reaches out and is surprised when she accepts. But things take a devastating turn and suddenly John is faced with some life-altering decisions. In a world that is out of control with earthquakes, famines, wars, epidemics, will John be able to reconnect with his family, stop the spread of disease, and make good choices when he is faced with the ultimate decision? This fast-paced novel had me staying up way past bedtime and I was riveted by the plot line. A definite must-read if you like suspense, tension, twists and turns!

I was gifted a copy of this novel by the publisher through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions expressed are entirely my own.

An end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it thriller with some very unusual storylines. Major General John Haggerty, U. S. Army, “Haggs”, 30 years as an army doctor, is Commander of the Potential Pandemics Task Force. He and his team are responsible to identify and contain any potential pandemic outbreaks. They travel from one hot spot to the next, trying to limit the impact of viral outbreaks. Their jobs are essential, but they leave them little time outside of work for a personal life. Haggs struggles with the effects of his assignments on his family. Their bonds are stretched to breaking point. These men and women know the world is breaking apart, all signs of the coming rapture. The story is engrossing, the message important and impactful. I haven't read any story like this before. I read it on my friend's recommendation and am glad I did. I recommend it to anyone looking for a different kind of thriller, one with meaning.

In a world where plagues and natural disasters keep coming and World War 3 is about to start, the government puts together task forces to deal with these. Hagerty is a hardened man who works for the government. He tries to reconcile with his wife and daughter but duty calls. His friend tries sharing the gospel with him but he is stalwart. There will come a time when Haggerty will have to choose between good and evil and figure out where his faith lies.

Vanished follows the life of Lt Colonel John Haggerty in the months leading up to the Rapture. I found this book to be well written and engaging. I liked all of the characters and found myself cheering them on, hoping they would make the right decisions. The events in the book seem realistic, as though they could happen at anytime. Although it doesn't say I feel this is the first of a series and I eagerly look forward to reading the next book.

I was given a copy of this book with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

This is a serious novel and very thought provoking. This covers what would happen in the end times and an illness worse than Covid 19 . It’s fiction but something that could really happen . I would consider it a mystery/ thriller/ Christian fiction .
Highly recommend it for people who like Christian books

've read many of Dr Jeremiah's non-fiction books and this was the first novel. It is very well-written and held my interest throughout. It's a good picture of what they days leading up to the "End Times" may be like. Looking forward to the next installment in the series.

I grew up reading a book series on the Rapture and the end times. When I cam across vanished by Dr David Jeremiah and Sam O'Neal I just had to read it. It really didn't disappoint. Some similarities to the other series Ive read but it was different overall and was very enjoyable. I enjoyed that the book started way before the Rapture talking about the build up of events that lead up to the Vanishing. I really liked getting to know the characters before the crisis happened to the World.

I read the book aswell as listened to the audio.

Thank you to @netgalley and David Jeremiah for an ebook and physical copy. Also, thank you to GraceAnne Baker for setting this up and contacting me! It was a dream come true. What an incredible book...I love reading End Times/eschatology books because they always remind me of the true meaning and purpose behind life. Jesus! This book certainly did just that.

I was so impressed with Dr. Jeremiah's first fiction release! The character development was superb. He executed his characters' personalities and perspectives so well. I loved Marianna and Caleb. Dr. Jeremiah worked so well with a full cast of characters, and these two especially had my heart! I specifically liked that Caleb set a foundation for Haggs' biblical thoughts/questions. Also, I loved how he drew out the story, causing the reader to engage with the characters emotionally, and hit the reader with a bang at the end.

Dr. David Jeremiah used excellent terms, settings, and dialogue to explain the End Times and the Rapture. I liked how he showed the events leading up to the Rapture and then used a specific character to explain these biblical prophecies.

Excellent story and I can't wait to continue the series!

Happy reading,
Bethany the Bookworm Girl

This is an end times thriller which I read in one day - too much drama to stop for anything!
The Vanished has 'Left Behind' feels to it and as someone who enjoyed that series I know I will enjoy this one. As we sit in 2025 it is a terrifying look into the future as the current issues we have today grow exponentially in number as they affect the world at large (earthquakes, climate change, war, pandemics etc). I really enjoyed the mix of really big picture stuff (top level meetings and oversight) and then the personal relationships that pulled the story together. This book has a cliffhanger ending that leaves you wanting more ...
I was particularly attracted to this book as it is written by David Jeremiah whose teachings I have listened to and found to be biblically sound and well thought out theologically.  I was keen to hear (albeit in fiction format) his thoughts on what the end times will look like and how scripture relates. There were pockets of teaching on this throughout the book and I look forward to reading more of these in the next book(s) of the series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson Fiction and Netgalley.  The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Vanished by David Jeremiah was an incredible novel! I didn't know what to expect when I started the book, but found it hard to put down. The characters are so real and raw. You get to know their struggles and internal battles they face while trying to fight external battles like pandemics and food insufficiency around the globe. At the end you experience the rapture from the perspective of Abigail and Hagerty, who were left behind. I cannot wait for the next book in the series!!

Thanks to Netgalley and Thomas Nelson publishing for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. A well written end times story that kept me turning pages. The ending left me wanting more and I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

John “Haggs” Haggerty is the leader of a special military unit charged with stopping potential pandemics before they spread. This position affords him a front-row seat to the sharp increase in natural disasters that precede the Rapture. There are plagues, earthquakes, famines, wars, and rumors of war and each crisis is becoming more and more intense.

As the World seems to fall apart around him, so does his own personal world. He’s still grieving over messing up his relationship with his ex-wife, all the while trying to keep it together so that he can be there for his adult daughter before she wants nothing to do with him either.. As both situations push him to the brink, Haggs finds himself stretched further than ever in his quest to be the good person he knows he must be.

Facing the challenge of a lifetime, Haggerty is on the scene of a new deadly illness that he and his team are responsible for stopping. Even though his relationship with his ex wife and daughter is strained, he reaches out to his daughter to help him with this national crisis.

This book is pretty indescribable and written in such an amazing style that you will feel it is actually happening as you read. As the story unfolds, it brings to life events stated in the Bible that will lead to the Rapture. Be prepared to look into what the end times might look like and how those left behind will respond. The characters in the story are such that we interact with on a daily basis, both professional and personal characters in Haggerty’s life with a blend of Christian and non-Christian.

I enjoyed everything about this book, from the background information on John and his family to his nearly impossible profession. John is a very flawed human as i am, and I liked reading how he tried to correct old wrongs, how his ex wife and daughter have turned to God and how his daughter talks to him about it. I found it interesting to see how John and his friend’s daughter knew of God yet didn’t take the step to make a personal relationship with him. I look forward to seeing how they move forward in book 2.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I’ve been watching and waiting for Christ’s second coming, so this was a timely read. Vanished by Dr. David Jeremiah is a high-stakes, end-times thriller that hits on both a global and personal level. John “Haggs” Haggerty leads a military unit tasked with stopping pandemics before they spread—but as disasters pile up, it’s clear the world is heading toward something far more cataclysmic. Plagues, earthquakes, wars… the signs are everywhere.

But Haggs’s real battle is closer to home. He’s grieving the collapse of his marriage and struggling to stay connected to his adult daughter. The emotional weight he carries makes his fight for redemption feel real and relatable. Jeremiah blends action with heart, and the spiritual thread running through the story gives it depth without slowing the pace.

If you’re a fan of Left Behind but crave a fresher voice and tighter pacing, Vanished is your next read. This book is a reminder that prophecy isn’t just about world events—it’s also about the state of our hearts. Fast, thoughtful, and faith-anchored, it’s a must-read for anyone drawn to stories about the end times and the hope that remains. For audiophiles, the book is beautifully narrated by Roger Wayne.
