Description
Two sisters, a failing family business, a messy legacy, and a whole lot of hairspray.
The Louise women have squabbled for years, but they’ve always agreed on one thing: Georgia would be the one to make them proud. Years—and failed dreams—later, Georgia only wants to come home to the small Southern town of Whitetail, back to the family salon, June’s Beauty Shop, but to do so would mean dashing their hopes by admitting she’s fallen helplessly short.
When little sister Junie lands the beauty shop in hot water by way of a renovation gone wrong, reliable big sister Georgia returns to save the day. June’s Beauty may look like an outdated hole-in-the-wall slathered in Dolly Parton memorabilia, but to the women in town, it’s a sacred space. To Georgia and Junie, it is their family legacy. For generations, the shop has been passed down to every first-born daughter—always named June. It’s what’s left to anchor them to their late mother’s memory.
Without enough money to repair the shop, the sisters, along with their maternal aunts, jump into a series of money-making schemes. From setting out gambling tables at June’s to selling Aunt Tina’s pies at the fair, they will stop at nothing. But when Junie receives a life-altering diagnosis, the very world the Louise women could always rely on is turned upside down. They are forced to dig deep, finally tell the truth, and rely on the part of their family legacy that has never wavered: the deep love between them.
Bursting with energy, heart, and sass, Good Hair Days is about a family pulling together for a common purpose, finding healing from the past, and moving forward courageously as they face their hardest trial yet.

I just finished a great book. Good Hair Days by Grace Helena Walz is available later this year. Pick it up! You won’t regret it.
A beautiful and hopeful story that captured my heart immediately. I enjoyed the characters that made up the family, and I thought Walz crafted them beautifully. The book moves quickly and makes you think about relationships and what means the most to you. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Good Hair Days gave me everything I crave in a Southern story; sharp wit, fierce women, and that stubborn, messy, overwhelming kind of love that only comes from family. Georgia and Junie feel like women I’ve known my whole life, and their bond, full of tension and tenderness, pulled me in right from the first page. The writing has that warm, punchy charm that makes every line crackle with life. I could feel the small-town salon, the layers of loss and legacy tangled in every bobby pin and bottle of hairspray. The humor was sharp, the emotion unfiltered, and the Dolly Parton touches had me grinning. It reminded me that healing sometimes looks like a fresh perm, a tough conversation, and letting your sisters hold you up when the world starts crumbling. It’s about women reclaiming their strength and rewriting what legacy looks like. And I loved it for that.
This was a really beautiful story with a deep and meaningful outlook that I wasn’t quite expecting when I picked it up. But I loved it so much it’s very unique.

This was my first Walz book but definitely not my last! I immediately checked out another one from the library after finishing Good Hair Days. Right away it gave me strong Steel Magnolias vibes. I absolutely loved Junie and Georgia and reading about their life. Walz has an amazing way of writing in which you feel that you are actually right there with them on all their adventures and issues. This one was a quick one day read for me and I was still thinking about the girls even after the book was finished. Highly recommend.

I could not put this book down. I loved the way that family relationships were explored and elaborated on in such detail, which everyone can relate to. The relationship between Georgia and Junie was so delicately dealt with and evoked every emotion possible, It made me laugh and cry all the way through. I will be recommending this book to everyone.
Good Hair Days is a heartfelt, funny, and tender story about sisterhood, second chances, and the messy beauty of family. The small-town charm practically jumps off the page, and the Louise women are impossible not to root for—flawed, fierce, and full of heart. With equal parts humor and emotion, this story captures what it means to come home, face your past, and find strength in the people who know you best. A warm, uplifting read that celebrates love, resilience, and a little bit of Southern sass.

Good Hair Days by Grace Helena Walz is a family first story of both hardship and joy. Full of secrets and laughter with a small town togetherness vibe, Good Hair Days will make you want to run to the local beauty shop. Walz's style of writing makes you feel like you are fully immersed in the Louise's drama. She makes you fall in love with each and every character as they navigate their own stories. Grab a copy of this cozy book when it hits shelves November 11, I loved every minute.
Thank you to the publisher for this advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.
Good Hair Days is another great story from Grace Helena Walz. This is a story about a group of women running a hair salon in a small town for multiple generations. Good Hair Days is about secrets, grief, sisterhood, forgiveness, redemption, the bonds of family and legacy. There are some real characters here. And real relationships. Walz sees people and does a great job bringing these characters to life.
Walz will break your heart with the ending but leave you with hope.
I liked the cameo of her first book and the homage to the movie, Steel Magnolias (if you ever wondered why there were so many girls from the late 80s/early 90s named Shelby, watch the movie)
You will bawl your eyes out with this book - be careful listening and driving.
Thank you Grace for a wonderful story.

Wow! This was my first book to read by this author but definitely not my last! This book will leave you wanting for more and the characters and storyline stick with you long after you finish it. Do yourself a favor and pick up this page-turner!
This story was so much more than I thought it would be when I started reading about a family owned hair salon that had a wall dedicated to queen Dolly!! We follow the “Louises” who are family and work at the family hair salon, June’s. Georgia was the first born and is always used to taking care of her younger sister, June, so of course she returns back home to help save the salon. In the midst of saving the salon, June finds out that she has the same cancer that their mom died from.
This story brought lots of laughs, big hair, heartwarming moments, and even tears towards the end. The family drama combined with the small town drama was so well done and really does describe how living in a small town goes. I love that Georgia got her second chance at love and the way she supported June was even sweeter.
As the Louises would say ““The higher the hair, the closer to God. In Dolly we trust”

*Good Hair Days* by Grace Helena Walz is a heartwarming, witty read that celebrates friendship, self-discovery, and the little joys that make life brighter. It’s charming without being cheesy, and the characters feel like people you’d want to hang out with. Light, uplifting, and full of feel-good moments—perfect for a cozy afternoon escape.
Ahhh! What a breath of fresh air. Having spent my childhood in a tiny Georgia town, this book ~ the setting, the characters, the community that steps in like family, and the drama, too ~ took me back to being a kid again and all the good things of growing up in the small town south. There are family bonds and secrets, hardships both in business and health, and family, both blood and not, that swoops in and holds you up in your lowest times. Another winner from one of my new favorite authors. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A wonderful read!
This novel drew me in from the very first page and kept me hooked until the end. The characters were vibrant and relatable, the writing was engaging, and the story had just the right balance of heart and humor. Highly recommend!
Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
A beautiful and emotional read about two sisters, their struggles and always being there for family.
Georgia and Junie are the protagonists and they are such lovely and strong characters. Junie always looks up to Georgia and Georgia always comes through for her sister. The extended family was also very sweet and supportive. I always enjoy stories about sisters and how they help and support each other. I loved how everyone came through to help out with the salon and the southern charm was charming!
Thank you Netgalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for this eARC. All opinions are entirely my own.
Full of fun, family, southern charm, and sass this book is a heartwarming and sometimes heartbreaking read. I connected with so many things in this book. I grew up in a hair salon since my mom was a hairdresser, I am the oldest daughter so many things fell on my shoulders, I have had breast cancer, and I have a golden retriever. It was funny how these random things from my life came together in such a beautiful story about family, fate, and finding a way to keep it all together with love and acceptance. You will laugh and cry, but come away from this with a full heart.

I thoroughly enjoyed Good Hair Days by Grace Helena Walz. This heartwarming story about the Louise women of small-town Georgia. Two sisters, Georgia and June, and their aunts, Cece and Tina, band together to save their family’s hair salon, passed down to every daughter named June. Along the way, they confront the weight of generational trauma, grief, and what it really means to show up for one another.
Older sister Georgia learns she doesn’t have to be the family’s perfect success story, while younger June discovers the strength in growing up and in accepting help. One of my favorite lines sums it up beautifully:
“Love. It’s what matters most because it can always be added in.”
Told through multiple perspectives, Good Hair Days captures how each woman hides her pain to avoid being a burden, and the healing that happens when they finally stop doing that.
If you love stories about strong family bonds, small-town charm, and a touch of Southern grit, turn on some Dolly, pour some bourbon, and dive into Good Hair Days.
Thank you @netgalley and the publisher for sending me this book for review consideration. All opinions in this review are my own.
