Description
Two sisters, a failing family business, and a whole lot of hairspray--Good Hair Days is a modern twist on Steel Magnolias with a little extra Dolly Parton flare.
"I've really messed it all up, Georgia," Junie says. "And this time it's the shop. June's is in trouble."
June's Beauty Shop is a staple in Whitetail, a small Southern town north of Atlanta. It may look like an outdated hole-in-the-wall slathered in Dolly Parton memorabilia, but to the women in town, it is a sacred space.
To Georgia and Junie Scott, it is their family legacy, particularly their late mother's. For generations, the shop has been passed to the oldest daughter, always named June. But Mama wanted more for her firstborn.
Now Georgia is living the life everyone expected, the life everyone wanted for her. Everyone, that is, except her. But what can a girl do when her mother's last wish was for Georgia to get out of Whitetail? So that's what she did. She lives in Atlanta, has a swanky job, drives a fancy car, and--as far as her family knows--makes the big bucks.
It should be no surprise then when Junie asks for fifty grand to fix her latest mess. But Georgia's never had that kind of money. Dad and the aunts don't have it either. To save June's, they'll have to get creative.
Bursting with energy, heart, and sass, Good Hair Days is about a family pulling together for a common purpose, finding healing from the past, and moving forward courageously as they encounter their hardest trial yet.

Ahhh! What a breath of fresh air. Having spent my childhood in a tiny Georgia town, this book ~ the setting, the characters, the community that steps in like family, and the drama, too ~ took me back to being a kid again and all the good things of growing up in the small town south. There are family bonds and secrets, hardships both in business and health, and family, both blood and not, that swoops in and holds you up in your lowest times. I found the audio narrators to be endearing and well-casted. Another winner from one of my new favorite authors. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book really surprised me in the best way. The story touches on some tough topics, but it’s told with so much heart, love, and tenderness that it never feels heavy. The bond between the sisters absolutely melted me. It’s raw, real, and incredibly heartwarming. There were moments that had me smiling, tearing up, and just feeling all the feels. And I have to say, the audiobook narration made the experience even better. The narrators brought every emotion and bit of humor to life beautifully. I genuinely enjoyed this story from beginning to end.

As a Grace Helena Walz fan, I loved this novel!!! She had me at Southern By Design; after her debut novel, she became an autobuy author for me.
Having a younger sister, whom I adore, this novel was very relevant to my world. Sisterly love can be as intense as Walz portrays it. Not to give anything away, readers just know this is a funny book, with the banter and shenanigans of all the Junes, and their good hair day meetings, but it is also heartfelt with a serious issue, which is handled tenderly and with great love. I LOVED the book, and I LOVED all the Junes!!!!

Heartbreaking and healing. Beautiful and funny. Characters are amazing and a truly insightful read. I really enjoyed it!
I really really enjoyed this audiobook, the story is such a down to earth. Hits every beautiful note and worry just right. The conflicts feel relatable and honest. The sisterhood and community component felt so authentic to the Southern way of life!

What a beautiful story of family, friendship, and love between women. I wanted to visit June’s and be a part of their Good Hair Days. I cheered their accomplishments and grieved their losses. I will be recommending this book and audiobook to everyone. Beautiful job! Thank you to NetGalley and Zondervan Fiction Audio for the honor of listening to this early copy of the audiobook for Good Hair Days.
I absolutely adored this audiobook! The narrator was phenomenal-bringing every character to life-and the storyline was exactly what my heart needed. Good Hair Days gave me strong Steel Magnolias vibes, but with a voice and charm all its own. I laughed, I cried, and by the end, I wanted to call every woman in my family just to tell them how much I love them.
This was my first read by Grace Helena Walz, and it most certainly won’t be my last. This heartfelt gem is a solid 5 stars, and Walz has officially earned a spot on my must-read list!
This story was so much more than I thought it would be when I started reading about a family owned hair salon that had a wall dedicated to queen Dolly!! We follow the “Louises” who are family and work at the family hair salon, June’s. Georgia was the first born and is always used to taking care of her younger sister, June, so of course she returns back home to help save the salon. In the midst of saving the salon, June finds out that she has the same cancer that their mom died from.
This story brought lots of laughs, big hair, heartwarming moments, and even tears towards the end. The family drama combined with the small town drama was so well done and really does describe how living in a small town goes. I love that Georgia got her second chance at love and the way she supported June was even sweeter.
As the Louises would say ““The higher the hair, the closer to God. In Dolly we trust”

Oof, grab the tissues and buckle in for an emotional ride. Good Hair Days is an incredible story of life, sisterhood, small town community, and living authentically.
This story made me laugh, cry, sob, and giggle. For fans of Steel Magnolias, you are in for a treat. Take all the hardest, best parts of that story and combine it with a present-day twist.
This incredible group of women in Good Hair Days will stick with me for many years to come. It is one of those stories that you pass down to future generations, holding your breath for their thoughts and reactions.
While it does have closed door romantic undertones, Good Hair Days is truly about sisterhood, hope, and the beauty in tragedy.
Good Hair Days is another great story from Grace Helena Walz. This is a story about a group of women running a hair salon in a small town for multiple generations. Good Hair Days is about secrets, grief, sisterhood, forgiveness, redemption, the bonds of family and legacy. There are some real characters here. And real relationships. Walz sees people and does a great job bringing these characters to life.
Walz will break your heart with the ending but leave you with hope.
Natalie Duke and Reba Buhr are great at the audiobook narration. One is the main voice of Georgia and the other is Junie. Sometimes narrators can be a little over-the-top with a Southern accent but they both hit it just right.
I liked the cameo of her first book and the homage to the movie, Steel Magnolias (if you ever wondered why there were so many girls from the late 80s/early 90s named Shelby, watch the movie)
You will bawl your eyes out with this book - be careful listening and driving.
Thank you Grace for a wonderful story.

Wow! What a terrific, emotional, healing read!
Good Hair Days by Grace Helena Walz was a first time read by this author and it was powerful. Not sure why on Good Reads it has a 3.62 Star review as for me.... If I could rate it more than 5 Stars, I would. I was ugly crying - it's a good book, if it can draw emotion and boy it drew emotion out of me.
This takes place in the South and in a small town where this hair salon, June's, has been ran and owned by the oldest June daughter in every generation. The first born daughter had to be named June and she had to own and run this salon, no exceptions. When a generation before, Georgia's mom, June wanted different for her daughter. Supposed to be the next June, she decides to name her firstborn Georgia, which sets everything up from there.
Now Georgia feels mixed feelings, her baby sister is Junie and inherited the "keys" to the salon and she was expected to do great things - to go out into the world and be the best. Everyone is hiding secrets in this story and when Georgia returns home to fix a crisis with her "big bucks" (which doesn't exists) the thread is slowing unraveling to reveal all of the hidden secrets.
I can not say enough how much I loved this read!
I adored this book and the narrator was incredible. The bond between these two sisters was such a joy to hear about and it was so good to see healthy adult women making human decisions. the ending did devastate me

This is a funny and emotional ride through realistic drama! There are multiple cultural references contained and this has strong 'Steel Magnolia' vibes... and I absolutely loved it!
The story centers around 2 sisters, their 2 aunts, and the family beauty shop named 'Junies.'
Second chance romance. Family Drama.
This made me laugh a lot and cry a little.
I would 100% recommend this audiobook!
Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC of this gem! This book follows Southern sisters Junie and Georgia and their aunts as they frantically try to save June’s Beauty Shop, their family business in the quaint town of Whitetail. I don't know about you, but that town name sounds utterly cosy and perfect for a comforting read!
The complex family dynamics, charming small-town setting, and profound emotional depth are exactly what I look for in an Autumn and Winter book, and this title delivered in spades. Now, without giving away the precise spoiler, I must insist you keep your tissues nearby, especially if you have a strong relationship with your own sister, as I do. The personal issues and heartbreaking changes the family is forced to confront honestly had me breaking down as I read. Autumn is often a time when families bond and get closer, and this book captures that beautifully, albeit through a difficult and often painful lens.
The way the family comes together to heal past wounds and face serious challenges makes this story perfectly suited for the Autumn season, creating that warm, emotionally grounded atmosphere we crave as the nights draw in. From the moment the cover caught my attention, the story itself completely captured my heart.
What a beautiful and emotional read xx
I love it when a book can pull so many emotions out of me and this definitely did just that! This book is just as good as the author's debut novel and I hope she gives us more books in the future! Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for a chance to read and review this book in exchange for an honest review.

Good Hair Days by Grace Helena Walz is a delightful, heartwarming read! With lively Southern charm, strong sisterly bonds, and plenty of humor, it’s a story about family, resilience, and finding joy in unexpected places. A feel-good, uplifting book that’s hard to put down.
I was lucky enough to get this book in both the ebook and audio format. This story was really tense at times, serious when it needed to be, and fun at other times to alleviate the pressure.
The narrator chosen for this audiobook did a fantastic job. The southern accent really helps bring the characters to life and I truly enjoy that about GHW's books. There was passion in the narration and different accents/personalities that came through each of the characters as we experienced their chapters.
One thing that threw me off a bit was the Georgia's chapters were first person, but Cece/Junie's chapters were third person. I think this was to emphasize just how much of this was Georgia's story, sprinkled with some additional detail from Cece and Junie. I would've appreciated more of a different accent/voice when these chapters came around so that it was more clear on what was Georgia's versus Junie/Cece's input, but I don't think that there are issues with the way it was done.
Overall this was a great book and the end was heartbreaking. I wanted nothing more than a happy ending for Junie but that's the reality of life and cancer...not every time is a happy ending.
You know that book—the one you can’t stop thinking about and can’t wait to get back to reading? This was that book for me. It’s described as “a modern take on Steel Magnolias meets Hello, Beautiful with some extra Dolly Parton flair,” and it truly lives up to that description and more. I loved all the Louise women and their unwavering devotion to each other and their family legacy. I felt a genuine connection to each character, which speaks volumes about the author’s writing. Her heartfelt portrayal of sisterhood and honest depiction of grief deeply moved me. This prompted me to reflect on my own experiences, adding an extra layer of emotional depth to the story.
This book made me laugh out loud and even brought tears to my eyes. So if you’re like me and enjoy heartfelt stories about family legacy, sisterhood, love, and connection, I highly recommend picking this book up when it releases on Tuesday, November 11th.
Grace Helena Waiz, a captivating Southern storyteller, returns with her enchanting sophomore novel, GOOD HAIR DAYS, following the success of her dazzling debut, Southern By Design. (also 5 stars & check out my Q&A with the author)
This delightful book brings a modern twist to the beloved charm of Steel Magnolias, featuring a new ensemble of vibrant women brimming with Southern sass, interwoven with moments that tug at the heartstrings.
About the book...
Set in a picturesque small Georgia Southern town, the story explores the heartfelt journey of two sisters determined to save their cherished hair salon while grappling with intricate family dynamics and long-hidden secrets.
In the quaint town of Whitetail, just two hours north of Atlanta, we meet the spirited Scott sisters, Georgia and Junie. They find themselves at the crossroads as they fight to rescue June's Beauty Shop, a place rich with their mother’s legacy and unforgettable memories. The sisters’ mother, whose dreams for Georgia included leaving their small town, significantly influences Georgia's life choices and her complicated relationship with her family.
When Junie urgently calls Georgia to reveal that the salon is facing a crisis, Georgia begrudgingly returns to Whitetail. Having built a life in Atlanta, she has crafted a façade of success that quickly crumbles when Junie confides her need for $50,000 to save the family business.
With financial woes looming, the sisters, along with their spirited maternal aunts, embark on a series of unconventional—and laugh-out-loud humorous—schemes to rally support for the salon, as the close-knit community bands together to help.
Amidst the bustling renovations, creative sponsorships, and lively fundraising efforts, old flames reignite, family secrets surface, and a serious health crisis challenges them all. Through it all, the Scott sisters discover the true strength of family and community as they come together in love and support.
My Thoughts...
If you’re familiar with Southern women, then you know that their beauty shops hold a special place in their hearts—especially those cherished family-run establishments that have been passed down for generations in small towns. Not anything like they are now.
For these women, good hair isn’t just an expectation; it’s an essential part of their identity. These salons serve as vibrant social hubs where connections blossom, sisterhood is celebrated, and the latest gossip flows freely, all while patrons indulge in the pampering they deserve.
I found immense joy in the pages of GOOD HAIR DAYS, where the strong bonds of sisterhood, the warmth of June's Beauty Shop, and the colorful ensemble of supporting characters all thrive within this charming small town in Georgia.
The beauty shop transcends mere aesthetics; it becomes a “sacred space” for the women in the community, aptly highlighting the theme of a tightly knit community and the support networks that flourish within its walls.
As the pressure mounts to save the beloved salon, the family is compelled to confront long-buried secrets, deep-seated grief, and the intricate tapestry of their legacy. The new health crisis and Junie's diagnosis thrust the sisters into the heart of their fears, compelling them to lean on one another, summon courage, and rekindle the bonds that define their family.
Throughout their trials, the Scott women unveil a profound truth: their true strength lies not in the physical salon itself, but in the unconditional love that weaves them together, transcending the challenges they face.
Beyond the threads of family secrets and sisterhood, the narrative delves into poignant themes of grief, loss, and illness. It explores the transformative power of love, the struggle to maintain unrealistic appearances, and the discovery of found family and friends who stand by you during life’s significant challenges.
Healing and forgiveness play vital roles, as does the essence of community and the rich tapestry of Southern life. The story artfully examines the philosophy that the real legacy of a family isn’t confined to a physical space, but rather lies in the enduring love and resilience that bind them across generations.
The Audiobook...
I had the delightful opportunity to not only read the book but also to immerse myself in the audiobook narrated by the extraordinarily talented Natalie Duke and Reba Buhr. Their captivating performances breathed life into the story, beautifully capturing the essence of the setting and its characters while embracing the vibrant Southern spirit, humor, and passion. It was an engaging listening experience that I wholeheartedly recommend!
At its core, the story illuminates the profound strength of unconditional love between familial bonds—both those of blood and the families we choose for ourselves—and how that love can guide us through the most challenging moments in life.
Bittersweet, brimming with wit, sass, and quintessential Southern charm, the narrative is punctuated by delightful nods to Dolly Parton and her passion for hair, creating an atmosphere full of nostalgia and joy. The spirit of Dolly reverberates throughout the story, reflecting an unwavering, courageous love that embraces one’s true roots.
Rich with emotion and nostalgia, Walz crafts another thought-provoking and compelling read, making it a perfect choice for book clubs and discussions that linger long after the final pages are turned.
I fondly recalled my own experiences in a small Southern beauty salon alongside my mom in North Carolina during my younger years, which made reading this delightful novel an introspective journey filled with cherished memories. I also resided in Atlanta for many years (many salons) and genuinely admire the author’s writing style and eagerly anticipate her next creation.
Recs...
GOOD HAIR DAYS is an enchanting read that beckons to fans of the author as well as anyone who delights in nostalgia and the charm of Southern storytelling. This book will surely captivate those who appreciate the works of beloved writers such as Fannie Flagg, Kristy Woodson Harvey, Dorothea Benton Frank, Mary Kay Andrews, Joy Callaway, Karen White, Viola Shipman, and Patti Callahan Henry.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for providing an advanced reading and listening copy in exchange for my candid reflections. Another stunning cover!

I was immediately smitten with the gently poetic writing of this book. It’s simply enough to keep the focus on the plot but so beautiful that mundane details feel breathtaking. The heart, style & feel of Steel Magnolias in book form. The family dynamics & conflicts were layered & authentic. All the characters so very easy to love in their own way. Perfectly atmospheric, cozy & deeply emotional. I can see this being an excellent selection for a book club, so many opportunities for discussion.
Big thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for allowing me to enjoy this.
May we all be as united as the Louise women!
Now, that's not to say they're without their faults; however, when Aunts and Sisters come together to save their family's hair salon, June's, they realize there's a lot more to salvage than the building.
Walz has crafted a beautiful story about family, sisterhood, being true to yourself, and, yes, just the right sprinkling of romance, too. She takes readers on quite the adventure of creativity and scheming to help Junie pull June's out of debt and save the salon for the community (and their hair.) Multiple threads and subplots are woven together seamlessly in this heartfelt, humorous blend of "Steel Magnolias" and "Hello Beautiful." By the grace of Dolly Parton herself, readers are entertained and inspired by the camaraderie of these cunning women at every turn.
I experienced this book through the audio version and must say that the narration brought the story alive! I was transported to my own chair in the salon, laughing and tearing up right beside these women!
“The bigger the hair, the closer to God. In Dolly We Trust.”
This was just a beautiful book! It follows Georgia and Janie as they navigate a remodel for their family hair salon, Jane’s Salon, after Janie got in over her head. Georgia always bails out Janie and this time, it no different. Except this time, there is a looming secret that Janie is keeping and it’s going to break everyone closest to her.
Good Hair Days is a Steel Magnolias, southern family drama vibes women’s fiction that will make you laugh, cry and everything in between. The ending will break you and heal you within 30 minutes.
100% recommend for a change in pace with bickering southern aunts and sisters with lots of hair and Dolly references. 😭👏🏼🫶

When Georgia gets a frantic call from her sister Junie, she knows it's going to be bad.
Their beloved hair salon needs a facelift and $50,000 for the renovation.
What a mess Junie got them into because the hair salon women think Georgia has that kind of spare money to bail them out.
Along with this mess, Junie has a health secret only one person knows and that person used to be Georgia's boyfriend.
Will the town save the hair salon and will everything else work out?
Southern charm and togetherness will keep you turning the pages in this sweet read with wonderful characters and sisters that both have secrets they are keeping from each other.
You will LOVE the characters and the way they take care of each other.
A charming read you must not miss, and a read that will have you missing the characters after you turn the last page. 5/5
The narrators are wonderful as well. THANK YOU!!
Thank you to the publisher for a copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

This story has so many emotions to it. I liked the narrators. The story had some feelings of hope with a character that has cancer. There were some happy and fun moments and there were some sad moments.
I really enjoyed how the book came full circle and didn't leave the reader hanging like so many books do.
This is not a book that I would use for teaching. I am not even sure if my high school students would like this book.
There is more I could say, but that would give away the book. So I will just leave it as it is.
Whew. Good Hair Days felt like walking into your mama’s beauty shop on a Saturday morning, with the smell of hairspray in the air, gossip floating like perfume, and women holding each other up through everything life throws their way.
Georgia Scott thought she had it all figured out. She left her small town for the big city, built the career, got the husband, checked every box... but it turns out “making it” doesn’t mean much when you’ve lost the pieces of yourself that mattered most. Meanwhile, her sister Junie is back home trying to keep their family’s beauty shop and legacy from falling apart. When Junie calls asking for $50,000 to save the shop, old wounds resurface fast.
What I loved:
✨ The sister dynamic. Complicated, messy, but so real. You can feel the love even when they’re getting on each other’s last nerve.
✨ The shop itself feels like a character. Full of stories, memories, and women who’ve seen each other through everything from heartbreak to hot comb burns.
✨ The southern warmth and humor. It’s heartfelt without being heavy, and you’ll smile your way through even the tougher moments.
It’s part Steel Magnolias, part Sweet Magnolias, with a little Dolly sparkle thrown in. Grace Helena Walz gives us a story about family, forgiveness, and figuring out what home really means.
If you love books about sisterhood, small-town roots, and women who find their way back to themselves, go ahead and add Good Hair Days to your list.
Some stories just feel like home.
Life can be tragic. Fortunately, there are rainbows. 🌈🦋
Good Hair Days is a heartfelt story about sisterhood, family duty, and wringing every last drop of joy from life. June and her sister Georgia have always held each other close. Especially after losing their mother to breast cancer years earlier. Now, armed with determination and a fresh hair do, they’re pouring their love and grit into raising the funds to renovate their momma’s beloved hair salon, Dolly Parton shrine and all. Southern novelist Grace Helena Walz might break our hearts but she also infuses every page with the comfort of buttered biscuits, creating a tale as tender as it is triumphant.
🎧Short on time? The audiobook version is excellent!
Good Hair Days is a heartwarming story about sisterhood, family, and resilience.
The believable characters and their authentic struggles make the story relatable and emotionally engaging.
The small town Southern setting adds charm, while the humor and Dolly Parton flair keep the tone light despite serious themes.
The novel’s focus on healing, family loyalty, and the sacrifices made for loved ones makes it a deeply satisfying read that stays with you.
This story revolves around two sisters, a struggling family business, and a complicated legacy surrounding their names. It offers a modern twist on "Steel Magnolias."
I received both the book and audiobook, and ended up listening to the audio more than reading. It’s so binge-worthy! This is my first book by @gracehelenabooks, and I can’t wait to explore more of her work. The chapters are short, and the writing is beautiful. I rarely get emotional when reading, but the last few chapters had me sobbing! This book also made me laugh and warmed my heart.

A beautiful, heartfelt, (and heart-breaking) story of family & love. The setting was perfect: a small town beauty shop. Loved all the nods to Steel Magnolias and Dolly Parton. Such a southern girl's book!

What a wonderful and bittersweet story of family. Filled with love, support, expectations, and secrets this story made me feel all of the emotions . It was filled with heartbreak and hope and a reminder to live your very best life. The writing was descriptive and I have a very clear picture of June’s Beauty, the Dolly Parton shrine, and the people that are part of it. Georgia and Junie are characters that I connected with, both are trying to fulfill the roles they have been assigned by the family, are afraid to ask for help when they are struggling and it is not making either happy. The secrets they are keeping from each other had me yelling at them to tell the truth already! I understood why they were keeping the secrets but felt that it was time for them to tell the truth so they could have the life they truly wanted. Family is such an important part of the story and I wanted so much for them to figure out how to let go of the secrets and expectations of the past and build new, more flexible traditions.
I both read and listened to this book. The narrators did an excellent job giving the characters a voice and bringing the story to life. I was immersed in the world of June’s and felt like I was part of the community and may have driven around the block because I could not stop listening to the book.
I highly recommend this book to readers that enjoy books about family.
A very charming and endearing story about sisters who inherited a family salon and deal with whatever life throws at them. To me, this story is very reminiscent of Steel Magnolias and I absolutely love it for that! When you have a literary piece that contains the following themes: sisterhood, grief, love, resilience, and with a dash of Southern charm and hospitality, you know you're gonna be in for a memorable journey and this was exactly how it felt for me. With this also being an audiobook edition, the narrations really got me sucked in and I never wanted to leave.
I highly recommend this book and I would love to have this in my home library!
I would love to thank the author, narrator, publisher and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to listen to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This is a very warm, small town strong family bond story.

Thank you to Thomas Nelson Publishing and NetGalley for ARC audiobook in exchange for feedback.
Georgia and Junie are sisters - one still lives in their small town of Whitetail, operating the family hair salon Good Hair Day. The other, Georgia, left the small town to make it big in Atlanta.
Georgia is called back home to help save the salon, but there is more to the family crisis than just the salon.
Book reminds me of Steel Magnolias, with a cast of women in a small town. I loved the setting and the characters; I could see the story continuing in a sequel.

This author is someone I've never heard of but is one to watch. Her writing style is similar to that of Sheryl Woods, the author of the Sweet Magnolia series, and Fannie Flagg, the author of Fried Green Tomatoes. You will laugh, cry, and shed a tear or two as you read this heartwarming story.
I loved how the narrators of the audiobook made the story come to life by inviting me to hang out with the Louises and having me want to be pampered at their amazing salon. I loved how this family was there for each other out in both happy and terrible times.
For those of you who read my reviews, I wanted to point out that there is mention of drug use in one scene, as well as a few cuss words sprinkled throughout the novel. This family has operated a little gambling table in secret for decades, which included beverages and treats This novel is hilarious in parts and sad and sobering in others. This is a story you will not soon forget. It does address some heavy topics such as dealing with cancer, loss, grieving, forgiveness, and second-chance closed-door romance. I absolutely enjoyed the audiobook; it was fantastic. Discussion questions are included by the author to enhance your appreciation of both the book and the author.

Good Hair Days... Heartfelt. Humorous. And deeply moving. It is totally book hangover worthy.

It is Southern Women's Fiction at its finest.
Sisters, secrets, and a beauty shop that holds it all together.
The audiobook is a 10. It's a next-level listening experience.
Bonus for the dynamic duo audio book narration that brings each word to life.
Perfect for fans of sisterhood stories and emotionally rich Southern Fiction.

Good Hair Days was such a fun and emotional ride. I laughed, I cried, and genuinely enjoyed every minute of it. The narrators absolutely nailed the different POVs—and as a Georgia girl myself, I have to say they did a fantastic job with the Southern accent. This story is heartfelt, beautifully told, and one I’ll be recommending to everyone.
Phenomenal book!
That being said, if you are not in a good head space right now, especially with the holidays upon us, you may want to HOLD OFF!
This one lit me up, made me smile… and soar above the clouds, and then dropped me back to earth like a hot potato. This one literally beat the stuffing out of me!
Two sisters. Very different lives. Big old family. Roots in the hair salon business. One sis moves away to make a big name for herself… something she promised her mother when she was alive. The other took over the salon.
Huge family and small community influences. Lots of small town gossip. And, a trail of broken hearts, too.
And, this one really hit close to home too… with a family breast cancer diagnosis…
Made me Feel All The Feels! So, all the stars for me!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨✨✨✨✨🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Good Hair Days needs to come with a warning to have plenty of tissue on hand as you read it. It was a lot more emotional and tender than I expected.
It’s been described as a modern twist on Steel Magnolias, and with its Southern charm and setting, and a great cast of characters, I think that’s an apt description.
The story is very poignant as it deals with themes of sisterhood, grief, loss, forgiveness, and community, but there’s also some humor in it and a romantic side plot that keeps the story from becoming too heavy.
The writing was very engaging and heartwarming, and I felt caught up in the lives of these characters. I especially loved the bond between the two sisters, Georgia and Junie, and the vivid sense of community made me wish I was part of this small town.
I listened and to the audiobook, and thought Natalie Duke and Reba Buhr did a fantastic job.
If you love Southern fiction and emotional stories, this is a book I highly recommend.
I received a copy from the publisher and UpLit Reads, but a positive review was not required.

GOOD HAIR DAYS is promoted as a modern twist on Steel Magnolias with a splash of Dolly Parton. Thank you @gracehelenabooks @tnzfiction and @uplitreads and @netgalley or the #gifted book and audiobook.
GOOD HAIR DAYS is a sweet southern fiction novel that made me laugh and cry. Georgia was the one in the family that was supposed to achieve greatness but she only wants to move back home to Whitetail and the family salon that has been in the family for generations. Her sister Junie calls for her to come home because the shop is in trouble. Without the money to save the shop, the sisters and their aunts Tina and CeCe come up with ways to make money. When Junie receives a life changed diagnosis, the Louise women band together and find healing from the past.
I loved all the Louise women especially Junie and Georgia and the sister bond that is incredibly strong and would do anything for each other. Cece and Tina along with the entire town came together to save the salon. There are pranks with a rival salon that had me laughing. The sisters have secrets and I just wanted them to open up to one another. Of course it wouldn't be a southern fiction story without a little sweet romance. I read the book along with listening to the audio. The narrators Natalie Duke and Reba Buhr with their southern accents brought this story to life. I felt like I was there in June's Salon
