Description
Prowl, the second book in USA TODAY bestselling author Colleen Coble's Sanctuary series (following Ambush), delivers exactly what her fans want: the ideal blend of suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat with just the right amount of romance. Perfect for fans of Laura Dave, Allison Brennan, and Dani Pettrey.
When a worker at the Sanctuary is discovered dead in the tiger enclosure, authorities assume the big cat killed her. But when the autopsy shows she was killed by a lethal dose of anesthetic delivered by a tranquilizer gun, suspicion falls on Blake Lawson, co-owner of the Sanctuary. Blake has his hands full trying to clear his name as well as get the Sanctuary finances back in the black. When a soil test turns up traces of rare earth, he's even more puzzled. Is someone trying to run them out of business to get to whatever is under the ground?
Meanwhile, wildlife veterinarian Paradise Alden is determined to find the brother she only recently learned even existed. When the results of the DNA test she ran mysteriously disappear from her portal before she can read them, she realizes someone must not want her to know the truth. A break-in at her new apartment is alarming, but she tries to pass it off as someone trying to scare her away. She refuses to turn tail and run when she is desperate for answers.
For Blake, the only solid ground is his relationship with Paradise, and he longs to propose--but how can they even think about starting a life together with so many forces working against them?
Colleen Coble's Prowl combines gripping suspense with closed-door romance and includes intriguing mysteries from both the past and present, sabotage and danger, second-chance romance, found family, and themes of overcoming pain and how the past doesn't have to define you.
Also in this series: Ambush (book 1, available now) and Conspiracy (book 3, available July 2026).

Better than the first one. Blake and Paradise are back in action in this book. Someone is setting Blake to fail while Paradise is longing for a familial connection. Great job, Colleen.

5 Stars – My First Colleen Coble Read, But Definitely Not My Last
Prowl was my first introduction to Colleen Coble’s work, and now I can confidently say I’ll be diving headfirst into the rest of her books! This story had everything I look for in a suspense novel—mystery, emotional depth, a hint of romance, and a unique setting that added layers to the intrigue.
From the opening pages, the story pulled me in with a chilling and unusual murder at a wildlife sanctuary. What seemed like a tragic accident involving a tiger quickly spiraled into something far more sinister, and I was hooked. The pacing was tight, the stakes were high, and I never knew who to trust.
Blake and Paradise were fantastic leads, each carrying personal struggles that made them both relatable and compelling. I especially loved the emotional threads running through Paradise’s journey to uncover her past—family secrets, missing DNA results, and a break-in that made it clear someone was trying to stop her. It added a deeply personal layer to the suspense.
The balance between the romantic tension and the danger surrounding them was spot on—nothing too overdone, but just enough to make me root for their future even as threats closed in. The themes of second chances, found family, and healing from the past gave this thriller a lot of heart.
Prowl is everything I want in a romantic suspense—and now I’m off to add the rest of Coble’s books to my reading list!
Thanks to Ms Coble, NetGalley, and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The second book of the series and it is just as good as the first. It has everything from nail biting danger with a little bit of romance. I was so excited to read Colleen Coble latest book and I was not disappointed. Returning to the Sanctuary and the characters was a welcome pleasure. I absolutely adore the animals!

PROWL is the second novel in the Sanctuary series by COLLEEN COBLE, and another exciting story that takes place at the Lawson’s Sanctuary Wildlife Preserve in Nova Cambridge, Alabama. We come across many of the characters from the first book, including Paradise Alden, her soon to be fiance Blake Lawson, his mother Jenna and younger brothers, Isaac and Levi, who are all desperate to save the preserve and all the animals against vicious threats and even murder, which are causing financial problems from bad online reviews. Somehow Paradise’s unfortunate childhood, largely spent in foster care after her parents’ murder when she was eight, is involved, as she is being threatened as well…….
The descriptions of the setting and the animals are really lovely, and there is also a sweet romance. I particularly like the strong Christian message of trusting God running through the story. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I do not want to tell you any more for fear of spoiling your read.
I cannot recommend this gripping and inspirational novel highly enough.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Thomas Nelson. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

Very interesting story line. Characters were good and developed well with the story. The suspense was on point and kept you wanting to keep reading. Always enjoy book by Colleen Coble and highly recommend reading this author.
This story is perfectly suited for readers who crave a gripping and intricately plotted suspense story, enhanced by a subtle yet compelling romantic element. Within its pages, individuals driven by profound personal desires for truth and redemption find their paths unexpectedly intertwined. Their separate investigations and journeys of self-discovery lead them into a perilous arena where the ruthless machinations of corporate sabotage cast long shadows, and unseen threats lurk at every turn. As the characters delve deeper into their respective quests, they uncover a web of deceit and danger that not only jeopardizes their own well-being but also forces them to confront the hidden undercurrents of a world where ambition and corruption reign. The delicate dance between suspense and romance adds another layer of complexity to the unfolding events, promising a reading experience that is both thrilling and emotionally resonant.

This is the second book in the Sanctuary series This book grabbed me from the start and I really enjoyed reading more about Paradise and Blake. My only complaint is I have to wait till the next book to find out who murdered her parents. I enjoyed the kids and the animals at the wild life park. But as usual this is a great story that I recommend.

I was so grateful there was a follow up to Ambush and Prowl did not disappoint! Colleen continued the deep character and plot development. She presented so many questions and so many twists and turns. Just when you think you might have it all figured out, she adds a new development. This was another winner from Colleen!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This is the second book in the captivating Sanctuary series. Paradise Alsen, a wildlife veterinarian, has recently opened her own clinic in town. While she and Blake have discussed marriage, they are not officially engaged yet, while Blake is focused on stabilizing the Sanctuary's finances.
The tension escalates when one of the Sanctuary's employees is found dead in the tiger yard, casting immediate suspicion on Blake, who is presumed negligent for allowing the tiger access to her. As more suspicious incidents unfold, it becomes clear that someone is determined to drive them out of the Sanctuary. While Paradise strives to establish her clinic in town, she also lends her expertise to help the Sanctuary whenever possible.
In addition to the turmoil at the Sanctuary, Paradise faces an unexpected twist in her personal life as she grapples with surprising DNA results. As she searches for the brother she never knew existed, she becomes increasingly embroiled in the Sanctuary's struggles.
The story is truly captivating as Blake and Paradise unite to save the Sanctuary, encountering numerous obstacles and dangers along the way. A soil test revealing traces of rare earth raises an alarming question: Is someone trying to drive them out of business to obtain access to the valuable resources beneath the ground? Furthermore, the revelation of a potentially missing will could change everything; even who is the actual legal owner of the Sanctuary.
This book was impossible to put down until the last page was turned.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All comments and opinions are my own.

Good continuing story of Blake and Paradise at the Sanctuary Wildlife Preserve. Plenty of action and drama to keep you entertained and engaged in the story! The ending has cliffhangers so stay tuned for another adventure!

I absolutely loved the romance dynamics between Blake and Paradise. Their relationship felt real, layered, and genuinely heartwarming—full of its own challenges, yet grounded in mutual care. The slow build and emotional honesty made their arc so satisfying.
The suspense? Gosh. Just when I thought things couldn’t get more complicated, the hole kept getting deeper. I found myself constantly asking, “How are they going to get out of this?” Coble kept me hooked with tension and perfectly timed twists.
I also appreciated the family relationship dynamics. Paradise’s reactions to Blake’s protective instincts felt frustrating at times—but so authentic for someone carrying trauma. The emotional walls she’d built made total sense. But what made it even more moving was that Blake’s protective instincts didn’t stop with Paradise—they extended to his mother and brothers too. His steady, responsible nature added so much realism and emotional depth to the story. He felt like a man grounded in love, not just driven by romance.
And then there’s The Sanctuary. What a surreal and thrilling setting! The active wildlife, vivid descriptions, and wild unpredictability of it all brought a unique energy to the story. I can’t even imagine living in a place like that—scary and beautiful all at once.
I absolutely did not see the whodunit coming. The red herrings, reveals, and character motivations were masterfully woven.
This is my first Colleen Coble book, and I’m already planning to read more ASAP. Highly recommended for fans of romantic suspense, complex characters, and settings that come alive on the page.
Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for the complimentary copy. Opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine.
This second installment of the Sanctuary series is a perfect blend of second-chance romance and heart-pounding suspense.
With ‘Prowl,’ Cobble writes to remind her readers that (1) our past doesn’t need to define us, (2) second chances are opportunities not to be missed, and (3) that there’s freedom in forgiveness.
Cobble reintroduces us to the wildlife veterinarian, Paradise Alden, who is eager to find lost family despite every effort made ending in frustration. She’s convinced that someone doesn’t want her to revisit her past. Paradise learns that “if we let fear control us, we miss out on the day-to-day things that make life rich and meaningful,” and so she sets fear aside and puts it all in God’s hands. I was in awe of her ability to trust after all she’d been through.
Blake Lawson is the co-owner of the Sanctuary and has a history with Paradise. Despite everything going on at work, he continues to put Blake first. He reminds her that there’s no shame in leaning on each other to compensate where they each need help. I identified with her struggle because I’m also independent and hate asking for help.
The suspense ranges from quickening pulse moments to heart-pounding, adrenaline-filled page flipping. There’s a murder to investigate and strange events surrounding the Sanctuary property to understand. Coble keeps her readers’ inner sleuths busy as she doles out the clues regarding property ownership and DNA results.
For anyone who’s ever questioned why God allows certain things to happen, who struggles with change or forgiveness, or is apprehensive about second chances … this is your gentle nudge to add this one to your reading list.
I was gifted this copy and was under no obligation to provide a review.

Prowl is the second book in the Sancturary series by colleen Coble.
This book gripped me from the beginning pages. A second chance romance with a suspenseful outline. When Paradise starts getting phone calls and notes left that have a Phantom of the Opera theme. A movie that she loved as a young girl before her parents were murdered. She realizes that the stalker has to be someone from her childhood. Her boyfriend Blake wants to keep her close worrying about her safety, but Paradise is independent and feels like he is a bit stifling. She doesn't want to live in fear. This book had a lot of twists and turns to it. Colleen Coble does it again.

Colleen Coble has quickly become one of my favorite authors, and Prowl—the second book in the Sanctuary series—reminded me why. I absolutely loved Paradise and Blake’s story. In this installment, we get a deeper look into Paradise’s past, which adds even more depth to her character.
It was great to reconnect with familiar faces from the first book while also meeting new family and friends. I didn’t want to put this book down—I even stopped reading other books just to stay immersed in this one! The story pulled me in from the very beginning and didn’t let go. I’m already looking forward to the next book in the series!

This was an excellent follow up to Ambush. The story line took a little twist at the end but gives a good lead in to the last book in the Sanctuary series.
The saga continues!
Can the animal sanctuary preserve continue?
Who is trying to chase Paradise out of town?
Can Paradise find her half brother?
This is a fast paced, full of adventure, and suspense filled storyline.
Join the ride and read along!
If you want the story background to Blake’s cousin, Hez, read Coble and Acker’s books!
I received a complimentary of this book. My opinions are my own.

Family, colleagues, friends and spirituality are all important parts of the plot in this must read novel. You are drawn in from the very first page. Every chapter has a new twist and ups the suspense and thickens the plot. Needs a warning “don’t start unless you have time to finish”!

A great thriller, with an intriguing plot and characters. I loved the twists and turns, and the writing is fantastic. Highly recommend to others.

This is an exciting next installment in the Sanctuary series. The book kicks off with a murder that threatens the animal preserve— and the romance is put off even as it builds because the habitat has to be saved. I love how Colleen is seamlessly weaving characters from her series with Rick Acker into this one. It makes for a rich tapestry. Such fun! And the mystery is fantastic!

This second book in the sanctuary series is a great read! Paradise continues to remember what happened when her parents were killed and Blake is there to assist. Someone is sabotaging the sanctuary and Paradise. There’s plenty of action in the story—enough to keep you turning the pages. I was given a complimentary copy of this book and the opinions are my own.
Colleen Coble's story telling skills are top notch and the second book in the Sanctuary series had me riveted throughout. I admired the fortitude and faithfulness of the main characters Blake and Paradise. I think I would've given up and taken the easy way out but that would be a boring story. I can't wait for the final book in the series and I really enjoy how characters from Coble's other series crossover into this one. An original mystery everyone will enjoy!
Prowl by Colleen Coble is the second book in her Sanctuary series. I would recommend you read Ambush which is the first book, even though you can read it as a standalone. A suspenseful murder mystery with the continuation of the second chance romance of Paradise Alden and Blake Lawson. Great beach read that you won’t want to miss! Thank you to #NetGalley and #ThomasNelsonFiction for this Arc. This is my honest review. Releases Nov 4, 2025

Blake and Paradise are ready to be married after so many years apart but a happy ending looks impossible with so many strange occurrences going on around them. Prowl is the second novel in Colleen Coble's Sanctuary series and definitely needs to be read only after reading the first as it is a direct continuation. This is a fantastic romantic suspense book that will leave you guessing and second-guessing throughout it's entirety. There are so many different mystery lines going on and by the end some will be solved but the mystery of who killed Paradise's parents is still unknown. I loved the setting of the wildlife sanctuary and seeing these characters grow in their relationship. It was very hard to put down and I finished it in two days. Can't wait for the next in the series!
Sarah Y, Reviewer
Because this is continuing where the first one left off, it jumps right into the deep end. There is a lot going on, with Paradise still searching for answers about her past (there’s some interesting developments there!) and the park struggling to recover from the bad press. But if that’s not enough, more things are happening at the park and to Paradise. The question is, are they connected or not? This sort of felt like a psychological thriller in some ways.
I feel most connected to Blake, with his struggle of always feeling like the other shoe is about to drop and just waiting for the next bad thing. Even though in a lot of ways his and Paradise’s struggles are from the same root, they manifest in different ways and I’m loving seeming them work together on how to balance their needs and face their fears.
With all the stuff going on, I really didn’t see the twists coming. It was quite the tangled web, let’s just say that. While Paradise has to face a really hard truth I’m glad things are starting to look up for her.
Melissa W, Reviewer
Another great suspense as to who is trying to harm The Sanctuary! I really thought we were going to find out more about Paradise in this one, but can't wait for the next book to see what happens with the rest of her story and her brother. This book was fast paced with something happening at every turn of the page!

"Prowl" is a Christian romantic suspense. This is the second book in a series and continues the story of the main characters in the previous book. However, you can understand this story if you haven't read the previous book.
There were several mysteries that Paradise and Blake were trying to solve: the past murder of Paradise's parents, the person currently threatening Paradise, and who killed the worker at the Sanctuary and why? Paradise and Blake asked questions, found clues, and passed any evidence on to law enforcement that were on their side (as the main detective for the murder had a grudge against Blake). I didn't strongly suspect the non-obvious whodunit until nearly the end but did wonder why Paradise just let a clue drop which hinted at whodunit's involvement. The murder of Paradise's parents' remained unsolved by the end but much of what was happening at the Sanctuary was solved and stopped.
The main characters were likable and reacted realistically to events. The suspense came from the danger from the attacks on Paradise. Blake and Paradise genuinely wanted to help and support the other. Blake and Paradise struggled with trusting God with an uncertain future. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting novel.
I love all of Colleen’s books . This is the second book in the sanctuary series . I would go and read Ambush if you haven’t read it yet . This was a really good book , I have read all of colleen’s books and they keep you guessing until the end . It’s a clean book no cursing 🤬
Thank you NetGalley and publishers for the arc

Where do I even start? First off, if you have not read Ambush, read it first. Then read this one. In Ambush, the author makes you fall head over heels in love with the story of Blake and Paradise. And I was so excited to see Prowl was the next part of their story!
In the first book you can literally feel the love flowing between the two. And it is no less in Prowl. The scene is still set on The Sanctuary, but with twists and turns I didn't even remotely see coming. Dive into the mystery of who is trying to sabotage the beautiful place they call home, and the reasoning why. Except you will find out that is not the only twist this book has, and one where I was on the edge of my seat over! Distant family?? But also continuing the beautiful love story between Paradise and Blake!!
Gosh I already cannot wait for the next book!! Do yourself a favor and read this!!!
The second book in the Sanctuary series was full of suspense, drama, unexpected twists, and romance. It kept me completely captivated making it difficult to put down. The danger and suspense had me looking over my own shoulder as the book drew me in and came alive. As an animal lover, I love that the story is set on an animal preserve and the animals are heavily engrained in the story.
Paradise and Blake are thrust into another murder investigation on The Sanctuary’s property as the story begins. As the story unfolds, you are unsure if the danger is from Paradise’s past or the Sanctuary itself. It kept me guessing what danger was lurking next with a lot of unexpected twists that made a fantastic story. The love between Paradise and Blake often has to take a back seat to the danger yet is always smoldering under the surface waiting to erupt. I also love the fact we get to catch up with Hez and Savannah from the Tupelo Grove series.
This series has everything you need from fantastic characters to intriguing storylines of danger and romance. I cannot recommend this series enough! Each book just gets better taking it to another level!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are completely my own.

The wildlife refuge, Sanctuary, continues to have problems with long-reaching consequences. When a worker is discovered dead in the lion's den and suddenly caretaker Blake is swept up in a whirlwind of suspicion, accusations, and bad publicity. He's trying to get the refuge out from under debt, create a safe place for his mom and brothers, and continue to work on his relationship with Paradise -all while trying to figure out who wants to ruin him. Resident vet Paradise is working to start a new practice, figure out who killed her parents, and put past hurts with Blake behind her. When rumors of rare earth elements underneath the Sanctuary start spreading, another layer of danger and deception emerge. Can Blake and Paradise work together to figure out who wants to run them off the property, who is stalking her, and why her parents were murdered? Once again, Colleen Coble weaves a tale so spell-binding, I was up way past bedtime!
My thanks to the publisher for gifting me a copy through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Prowl is a spellbinding return to The Sanctuary. It starts out intense and the reader encounters twists and turns along the way. There are plenty of questions in this intriguing mystery. My only frustration was that incidents from the first book in the series were mentioned, without any details, so I felt a little lost at times, trying to remember the background for a couple of things. Overall, though, I very much enjoyed the book and was kept enthralled.

Oh my goodness I cannot wait for the last book in the series!! I loved this second installment that is the perfect blend of suspense and romance. The wildlife sanctuary setting is unique and a great setting for the story. I love seeing Paradise grow as a new Christian and love all the characters. A nice change up from usual romantic suspense and highly recommend!

Colleen Coble has done it again. She has written an exciting, fast paced suspense with twists and keeps you turning pages. Prowl is the second book in the Sanctuary series with Ambush being tge first. While Prowl can be read as a stand alone I reccommend reading Ambush first as ut sets the foundation. There are references to characters in the Tepelo Grove series (which I also reccommend) though, agsin, its not necessary to have read these in order to thoroughly enjoy Prowl. I especially enjoy finding myself thinking "Well, I didnt see that coming!" Prowl is well developed with interesting characters and a unique setting. Definitely 5 stars (and then some). Can't wait for Book 3 as Prowl ends with me wanting more.

Amazing and captivating are just a few words that come to mind after reading this book. Another great Colleen Coble story. It is the second novel in the 'Sanctuary' series. It has more mysteries, more suspense and drama, I loved it!
Part 2 of Colleen Coble’s “Sanctuary” series is everything I had hoped for and more. Blake and Paradise are struggling to move forward with their relationship but things keep happening that are giving them pause. Suspense and romance are one of my favorite combinations and the wildlife sanctuary is a great setting.
In my opinion this is not a stand alone novel and you will be short changing yourself by not reading the first book (Ambush).
I cannot wait for part 3 of the series!

This was a great book. I loved every paragraph, every sentence and every word of this masterpiece! I read it in 12 hours, which is a lot for me to do! It had everything and more laid out in the novel! I sure hope There is more to come from this author! I am totally hooked!
Prowl is a gripping romantic suspense that blends small-town charm with edge-of-your-seat tension. Colleen Coble expertly weaves mystery, danger, and romance, creating a story that keeps you guessing while rooting for the characters’ happily-ever-after.
The suspense is steady and well-paced, with just enough twists to keep the stakes high. The romance feels natural and adds emotional depth without overshadowing the mystery.
Fans of suspenseful, character-driven thrillers with a touch of romance will find Prowl hard to put down.
This is her best yet in my opinion! A definite on the edge of your seat suspense!! Loved every minute of it.
I finished at 4am because I loved the many twists and turns this story took!! Wow!!
Its also fast paced and lots of action. I love that in a suspense book.

I will be adding this to my list of favorites for 2025.
So very good!!!

Danger
I enjoyed being back with characters that I care about, being updated, and living with them as I turned the pages. Danger is still happening here at the Sanctuary, and sadly murder!
I'm so glad that Paradise and Blake found each other, and was hoping for a wedding, but there are so many roadblocks thrown at them!
Now I feel like there will be another book in this series, there are unanswered questions! I so want to continue on in their lives here. I also want that Police Detective to come back with the box that Paradise lent him?
Unfortunately, the Sanctuary is in dire financial needs, and they could loose it! Where will these poor animals go?
Be ready for danger, you wonder whom, and yes, some answers come, but there are a lot of unanswered!

I have never read a book by Colleen Coble that I didn’t absolutely love and Prowl is no exception. It’s full of intrigue, mystery and suspense and has you on the edge of your seat rooting for the good guy through the entire story, all the way to the very end. I loved the relationship between Blake and Paradise and how you can physically feel the tension between them due to everything going on at the Sanctuary. As always, I definitely recommend!

What an exciting, fast-paced story. Prowl is the second installment in the Sanctuary series after Ambush and involves searching for found family. However, someone from Paradise's past doesn't want her to find her family member and does their best to stop her. Prowl has twists and turns, action, and danger. I enjoyed Paradise as she grows as a new Christian.

Another fantastic Colleen Coble book! Blake and Paradise are back!
What seems like a tragic accident in the tiger cage, is murder set up to sabotage Blake and the Wildlife sanctuary. While everything seems to be going wrong at the Sanctuary, Paradise appears to being staked and threatened, and someone is trying to get her to leave. Blake and Paradise are determined to solve their own mysteries. From the previous book, we follow Paradise trying to discover who murdered her parents, and now we discover she has a brother, who someone is determined not to let them meet. Blake is determined to protect Paradise and she is fiercely independent, i love the journey they go on together to become a better couple, as well as putting their trust in God to be in control. I found the Christian undertones refreshing and representative of Christian dating. Blake and Paradise are a great team.
Coble writes so many twists and turns into this book, and the suspense made me want to read faster. I couldn't put it down! The ending really surprised me and left me wanting more. I can't wait for the next book!
Thank you to Thomas Nelson and Netgalley for this Arc.
Another installment in the Sanctuary series and the captivating story of Paradise and Blake. And like all of Collen's books, the reader is not disappointed. The reader gets to experience mystery, murder, suspense and family values.
The plot drew me in immediately and the characters are so real that I feel that I know them all. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series!
Thank you Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book.
Prowl is another gripping addition to Colleen Coble’s Sanctuary series. The blend of mystery, danger, and romance had me hooked from the opening scene in the tiger enclosure. Blake and Paradise’s journey was both suspenseful and heartfelt, weaving in sabotage, betrayal, and family secrets while never losing sight of their growing bond. The pacing was tight, the twists were surprising, and the emotional core was beautifully done. If you enjoy romantic suspense that balances page-turning thrills with closed-door romance and themes of hope, healing, and found family, this is a fantastic read.
Prowl, is Coble’s second book in her Sanctuary series, following Ambush.
I begin by saying, Prowl starts out with a grabber and doesn’t let go.
A young worker is found dead after the door was left open in the tiger enclosure, so it is assumed the big cat killed her. But the autopsy tells a different story. Suspicion for her death falls on Blake, who is presumed negligent for allowing the tiger access to the outer area. Paradise Alsen is a wildlife veterinarian, new in town, where she has recently opened her own clinic. Paradise and Blake are a thing and have discussed marriage, but aren’t officially engaged. When the story opens, Blake is focused on rescuing the Sanctuary from bankruptcy, and then this tragedy happens,
The tension escalates as more suspicious incidents occur, making it pretty clear that that someone is determined to drive them out of of town. Paradise now juggles establishing her clinic in town, and lending her expertise to help the Sanctuary.
When life can’t seem complicated enough, Paradise learns she has a sibling due to surprising results from a DNA test. On top of it all, she is now searching for a brother she never knew existed.
As Blake and Paradise struggle with numerous obstacles and dangers to save the Sanctuary, out of the blue, a soil test reveals traces of rare earth in the land under The Sanctuary. This may be the motive. Is someone trying to drive them out of business to obtain access to the incredibly valuable resources in the ground? Due to jealousy and and greed, perils abound including the appearance of a rattlesnake planted in Paradise’s car.
The main characters were engaging, likable and reacted realistically to events. The suspense came from the many dangerous attacks. Blake and Paradise genuinely wanted to help and support each other and understandably, struggled with trusting God with their uncertain futures.
A page turner for sure. I highly recommend this gripping and inspirational novel.

Prowl, the second book in USA TODAY bestselling author Colleen Coble's Sanctuary series (following Ambush), delivers exactly what her fans want: the ideal blend of suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat with just the right amount of romance. The sabotage of the Sanctuary from the previous book in the series, Ambush, continues. Just when the staff thinks that they have stopped all the negative talk, something else happens. People from Paradise's past show up in the book, including a sibling and a caregiver.
Prowl has just enough suspense and romance and intriguing mysteries from both the past and present, sabotage and danger, second-chance romance, found family, and themes of overcoming pain and how the past doesn't have to define you. I love the author's books and love the Christian influence in each one. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for offering this book. If you like books with mystery, romance, and family, you will thoroughly enjoy this one.

Buckle up for this one! Colleen Coble does it again. Another 6 star suspense that will keep you turning the pages and wanting more. Set in Alabama at the Animal Sanctuary mystery after mystery wait to be solved before time runs out. Wonderful characters amid wild animals will keep you on the edge of your seat. Definitely worth the read. This book was provided through NetGalley and the author and publisher. The opinions expressed here are my own thoughts.

I loved this book, what a great addition to the first. Blake and Paradise, along with his mom and brothers, adore the Sanctuary and hope that trouble is finally behind them. But when a young, new employee's body is found in the park, they know it is just the beginning of what they will endure. Lots of moving parts and awesome characters, which all come together for an exciting book. I loved the fast pace and the underlying family mystery of Paradise. Can't wait to the next book.

Prowl is the second installment in the Sanctuary series. A young woman is found dead on the compound and her death was not caused by any of the large exotic animals who reside there. Someone is sabatoging the compound and wants them shut down to obtain the valuable property. Twists and turns happen in the story before we find out the culprit who I never suspected. There is also the story of the murder of Paradise's parents but that is not resolved yet but more pieces of the puzzle was revealed. Can't wait to read the rest of the story in a future book to unravel this mystery.
I received a compliment copy of this book. All comments and opinions are my own
WOW, I really enjoyed this book. It was so suspense-filled, yet Paradise and Blake could enjoy The Sanctuary’s animals some quiet evenings. It seemed like there were attacks or events every day and it sure kept me turning pages. Who is trying to kill Paradise? Who is trying to take The Sanctuary away from Blake and his mom and two cute little brothers? Full of suspense, growing romance and faith-filled as they grow in so many ways. Excellent. You should read the first book for backstory. Looking forward to the next book.
Prowl by Colleen Coble was such a great read! I always love the twists she brings to the best genre ever—romantic suspense—and this series, which began with Ambush, is no exception.
In this second installment, we’re thrown right back into The Sanctuary. It starts with Clara, and I just knew she was going to be trouble (as usual). I actually wish we’d seen a little more of her—though, let’s be honest, no one really likes a hyena!
Blake and Paradise are doing their best to juggle life, their animals, and their relationship when darker things begin to unfold. When Paradise proposed to Blake, I actually felt bad for her. I understood his reasoning for saying no, and I’m a bit old-school—I love when the guy makes a grand gesture. But I think he could’ve said it in a more romantic way. Give me Humphrey Bogart vibes—woo me with words! It was a tough moment, though he always finds a way to redeem himself and show how much he cares for her.
One of my favorite lines was, “Talk to God about it. That’s where real healing is found.” And another early on that stood out to me: “The whisper in his heart was a reminder she belonged to God, not Blake.” Those moments perfectly capture the heart of this series—the right mix of faith, suspense, and just the right amount of romance.
There was one small part about the will and its location that left me a little confused, but I won’t spoil anything by saying more.
Overall, Prowl is a must-read!

With a Colleen Coble book you are always assured to have a good romantic suspense read. I found that Prowl was strong on suspense with just enough romance. There were lots of high emotions, danger and drama throughout the book. The twists and turns throughout left me guessing about what was going to happen next. And the secrets surrounding Paradise's past come out slowly leaving me on tenterhooks wondering what will be revealed next.
I really enjoyed the relationship Blake and Paradise have and their commitment both as individuals and as a couple to Jenna and the boys. They really show what it is to be family together. The way Paradise grows in her faith throughout the story is wonderful. I also appreciated the links between this series and the Tupelo Grove series that Colleen Coble and Rick Acker are writing together - so nice to have the two series overlapping slightly.
Prowl is book 2 in the Sanctuary series. I had just read Ambush (which is book 1) before reading Prowl and I definitely recommend you do too - it helps you follow all the story lines and people connections in the story. I found I enjoyed Prowl more than book 1 of this series - it captured my attention and just seems to flow better. I have been reading it avidly over the past few days when I have time because I was so hooked into the story.
If you enjoy the guessing of romantic suspense and like lots of twists and turns then this is definitely a book I recommend to you! I received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson Fiction and Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This is the second book in the Sanctuary series. I highly recommend reading the first book before reading this one. Otherwise, you might be a little lost.
I actually like this book better than the first. Maybe because I enjoyed reading familiar characters and continuing their story. The second book does have a lot more going on and it seems as if it's one crisis after another. So you do not want to put this book down. I cannot wait to read book three in the series.
I received an ARC through Netgalley and was not required to leave a positive review. All thoughts and comments are my own.
Picking up where the last book left off, Paradise and Blake are still working together on the wildlife refuge, but Paradise has taken over the private vet practice in town, and the sanctuary is still recovering from the bad publicity from previous events.
When a body is found in the tiger enclosure, they find themselves fighting to keep the refuge open against ever increasing odds.
A fast paced and suspenseful read, with great characters and a tension filled plot. There is a lot going on from multiple angles. I liked that Blake and Paradise work together through it all, and we see a familiar face from another series.
Overall, a compelling read with a lot going on. Great growth and character interaction. Highly recommend!

Prowl by Colleen Coble
The Sanctuary is a special place for the Lawson family and the animals they care for.
When a worker is found dead in the tiger enclosure, their world is upended. Evidence indicates that she was hit with a tranquilizer and left in the precarious situation with the tiger.
Blake Lawson, a co-owner, is immediately under suspicion.
While he is trying to keep the business side afloat and clear his name, a soil test turns up traces of rare earth on the property.
Someone is trying to chase them off the property and that may be the reason, or it could be tied to the resident veterinarian, Paradise Alden.
Paradise recently found out she has a brother and she is using a DNA test to try and find him. Someone is thwarting her efforts and the results disappear before she can read them. That someone doesn’t want her to find him and danger starts surfacing in all directions.
Blake has always loved Paradise and wants to start their life together but there are so many roadblocks at every turn,
This is a gripping mystery full of suspense, friendship, and love.
Collen Coble at her best! I love this series!
My favorite quote: “ It’s impossible to protect the ones you love from what happens in life. Life happens and we can’t control it. All we can do is put it in God’s hands.”
I loved learning things about the animals!
Wonderful storytelling full of suspense! I would like to Thank NetGalley, Thomas Nelson Publishing and Colleen Coble for the opportunity to review an ARC of this wonderful novel! 5/5⭐
Look for it in November 2025!

"Prowl" by Colleen Coble is an absolute masterpiece that seamlessly blends suspense, faith, and excitement into an unforgettable reading experience. From the very first page, I was captivated by the thrilling plot and the dynamic characters who inspire with their deep faith and resilience.
The story is wonderfully easy to read, yet it keeps you on the edge of your seat with unexpected twists and intriguing outcomes. Colleen Coble’s storytelling skills shine through as she crafts a suspenseful narrative that is both exhilarating and thought-provoking.
What truly sets "Prowl" apart is how it intertwines faith with an intense, page-turning plot. The characters are not only relatable but also serve as beacons of hope and inspiration, adding depth and meaning to the suspenseful elements.
If you’re looking for an exciting series that offers more than just thrills—one that touches the heart and soul—"Prowl" is the perfect choice. Highly recommended for anyone who loves a well-crafted, faith-infused suspense novel!

What a joy to be back amongst all the wild animals! It feels as if I am visiting my favorite holiday destination.
I love how Colleen Coble keeps the story evolving and the characters growing. Their growth and development as humans are just phenomenal.
Blake is faced with a tremendous challenge, how will he protect Paradise and his family and the Sanctuary? Do they have a future or will all the twists and turns derail all their plans?
I am waiting on pins and needles for the next book! I nèèd some answers.

** “What you meant for evil, God worked for good. What I went through didn’t break me. It made me stronger.” **
Colleen Coble continues her heart-pounding Sanctuary series with “Prowl.”
Picking up immediately after the series’ first installment, “Ambush,” new hire at the Sanctuary Wildlife Preserve Ivy Cook is found dead in the tiger enclosure. When several more incidents occur, some specifically targeting Paradise Alden, the preserve’s veterinarian and owner Blake Lawson’s girlfriend, they know the troubles haven’t ended at Sanctuary.
Can Blake and Paradise figure out who is behind all the devastation … and why? And can Paradise get past the trauma from her childhood and learn to let down her guard and truly trust Blake and rely on his protection?
Once gain, Coble provides a story filled with twists and turns and many heart-thumping moments, both suspense-wise and romance-wise. She creates very real and relatable characters, as well as a couple of adorable little boys and some sweet animals, and visits from characters and places from her other series, like Pelican Harbor and Tupelo Grove.
She also includes some great themes like, God has plenty of hope to pass around; dreams come true, and God performs miracles; it’s hard to let others carry our burdens; praying for “no monsters under my bed, not with angels watching my head”; bad things happen everywhere and to everyone; and what people mean for evil, God means for good.
This really should not be read as a standalone, as it would be best to read “Ambush” first.
Fans of Lynette Eason, Kelly Irvin, Terri Blackstock and Irene Hannon will love this novel, which is due out Nov. 4.
Five stars out of five.
Thomas Nelson provided this complimentary copy through NetGalley for my honest, unbiased review.

This is a good Christian story.
I got thrown in at the deep end because I haven't read book number 1. Paradise and Blake have been apart for 15 years and they still love each other. But things are getting rougher for them. I loved Blake's nickname, "Simba" for Paradise. He did that because of her long, lion- like mane. His brothers started calling it too and she loves it !Phantom of the Opera has been a long time favorite of hers but it's starting to get sinister when someone calls her with the ringtone of music from it. Is she being stalked? If so, who is doing it to her. There's plenty of people threatening the people that Paradise loves. Starting with her now finance Blake and his mother Jenna and Blake's two much younger brothers (aged 5 and 7). Paradise's whole life is there with them and she'll do everything that she can not to lose any of them. Not only is there a bunch of greedy, bad people after them; they are also trying to drive them off their land and take The Sanctuary. There is also attacks against Paradise herself, tormenting her and warning her to get out of town and stay out. Someone is messing with her search for her long-lost brother. Even friends are warning that it's too dangerous and to let it drop ! What? Paradise confronts one of her bullies and starts to get the upper hand. I liked that a lot.
One of the totally useless authorities in the story is, Detective Creed Green. He does get called on it during one "informal" interrogation of Paradise. He likes to throw his weight around, especially around Paradise. Police Chief Jane Dixon, tells him that he is being hostile to Paradise and that it's uncalled for. Paradise calls him on some of his harassment during that interview and makes so demands of her own. Sgt. Rod McShea is her cousin and he has her back as much as he can. Enemies come streaming out after them but they also have some friends wanting to help. There is a few unexpected ones, who are limited in how they can help. This story had a large cast of character and would make for a really good story.
It's a long story with plenty of twists, turns and some surprises ! Some things do get resolved but there is more to do. I enjoyed the animal information and interactions, especially with the giraffes.
I received a few copy of this book through Netgalley and really enjoyed it !

Prowl pulls you into the life of Paradise from the first pages. Suspense and mystery abound at the Sanctuary.

Do you like mystery, suspense and who done it books? Prowl is one of those books. Mixed in with a love relationship between Blake and Paradise. Paradise is a vet who loves all animals and Blake and his mom own a Sanctuary for animals. Someone is found tampering with the animals and even caused a person to die during this book. Paradise can't remember her growing up years and why her parents were killed. She also finds out she has a brother that she did not know about. The plot thickens throughout the book with who done it's with mystery and suspense. I really enjoyed this read. There is a bit of a cliff hanger in the end. It was a really good read and I enjoyed reading this as an ARC. Thank you Colleen for allowing me into your story of Paradise and Blake. I did love Paradise and her ambition to succeed in all she does and to be independent of others, but still love deeply.
Arggg! Cliffhangers are horrible, but Colleen Coble has a way of making them less painful. It’s going to be so hard to wait for the finale!
If you haven’t read the previous book, spoiler alert🚨!
Paradise and Blake are together in work and in relationship. His family—mom Jenna and little brothers Isaac and Levi—have embraced her and adore her.
But someone she knows doesn’t. In fact, this person wants her gone—for good.
Blake is in danger of losing the animal sanctuary he and his family call home. Someone is out to destroy everything he’s built.
Will they lose their sanctuary—or their lives? Just how far is someone willing to go?
The action is intense and nonstop. The love is strong and binds the story together. And the way Coble introduces faith into the story feels very natural and organic.
I received an advance copy from the publisher. I’m under no obligation and my review has not been solicited. Highly recommend!

The second book in the Sanctuary series picks up basically where book one left off.
I don't want to give anything away about the story, but this is another great read by Colleen Coble. It had been a bit since I read book one, so I took a minute or two to remind myself of the prior story.
One of the things I appreciate most about this author is that the characters are relatable (even if the situations they find themselves in are not... thank goodness!) They have fears, self doubt and insecurities like the rest of us, and it really adds to the authenticity of the story.
The mystery/suspense are compelling, but not too overwhelming in terms of reading alone at night.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this book/series to anyone who loves a good mystery/intrigue story with a bit of romance.
I did receive an advance copy of this book to review, however my opinions are my own, based upon my own enjoyment of the book.
Did you know that a pack of lemurs is called a conspiracy? I had no clue either, but I absolutely love how the author included animal facts throughout the story. Not only was “Prowl" educational, it was also filled with hair raising suspense, intense plot twists, and intriguing characters. This novel was a true pleasure to read and I can't wait for the third installment of the Sanctuary series to be released.

I could NOT put this book down! It had me from the first page to the last! You really should read the first book in the series to get the back story of who the characters are and what is happening at The Sanctuary. There are a couple of storylines going and things will be much clearer if you have read the first book so you have the background.
I enjoyed Blake and Paradise's romance and how it continues to evolve naturally. They have so much going on in their lives with all the suspense happening but they still take small snippets of time for just the two of them. That's important! They support each other and try to take care of each other!
Who is trying to destroy The Sanctuary? From murder to leaving gates open in the animal enclosures to burglary...what is happening? Then there is the other storyline of who is after Paradise and her desire to find out who murdered her parents many years ago?
There is a lot of action, great character development and suspense. Blake's mom and little brothers added so much to the story. It wouldn't have been the same without them. I really can't wait for the final book to see how everything ends!

Collen Coble is at it again and back with the Sanctuary Series. Collen is a master in crafting a realistic mystery with the right touch of romance to keep it from getting too heavy. Blake and Paradise return and, while their history and interactions pick right back up, the story is a brand-new exciting mystery that will drive you turn pages faster than you think possible as you race to discover the truth. I love the interactions and the pace at which the story moves. The setting is perfect and such a creative place to write a mystery about. I love that we are securely set in the middle of the Blake and Paradise’s relationship and personal growth, with one more installment to come next year. I am rooting for these two and can’t wait to see what is next!
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley, and all opinions expressed are solely my own.
This compelling second installment in Colleen Coble’s Sanctuary series begins with a shocking tragedy. A young woman is found dead inside a tiger enclosure, but the autopsy reveals a startling truth—she wasn’t killed by the tiger at all, but by a tranquilizer dart. Suspicion quickly falls on Blake Lawson, part owner of the Sanctuary, who already has more than enough on his plate trying to keep the refuge financially afloat and the animals safe.
Blake’s professional worries are compounded by personal ones. His rekindled relationship with Paradise Alden, the sanctuary’s dedicated veterinarian, is a bright spot in the midst of chaos—but one that’s constantly threatened by danger. As they work together to uncover the truth behind the young woman’s death and protect the Sanctuary, they also face their own fears, their faith, and the question of if they truly can have a future together.
Paradise, meanwhile, has a deeply personal mystery to solve. She’s just discovered she has a half-brother—and she’s determined to find him. But when someone begins threatening her to stop the search, her resolve is tested in terrifying ways more than once.
Coble masterfully blends romantic tension, faith, and suspense in this story, while grounding it all in the vivid, sensory world of the Sanctuary. The children in the story add warmth and heart, while the animals—beautiful, dangerous, and deeply symbolic—bring the setting to life.
Prowl is emotional and resonant, full of faith, danger, and love. Fans of romantic suspense will be drawn to the balance of danger and tenderness, while those who love stories with animals and family bonds will find it especially touching.
A moving, faith-filled story about love, courage, and the fight to protect what matters most.
Many thanks to Thomas Nelson and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
This second installment of the Sanctuary series finds an employee, Ivy Cook, dead near the tiger area, it is assumed the big cat killed her. An autopsy reveals that she was killed by a shot in the neck with a tranquilizer dart before her death. Sheriff’s Deputy Creed Greene, believes that Blake Lawson, owner of the Sanctuary is a suspect.
Veterinarian Paradise Alden is now working at the Sanctuary and also running the veterinary clinic she bought. She knows Blake is innocent. They have rekindled their romance and there is talk of the future. There are a number of things happening in addition to Ivy's death investigation. Paradise has learned she has a brother, she knew nothing about and is eager to find him, unfortunately the DNA results are removed from her account before she can look further. She starts to receive calls, and texts that are scary. Her apartment is broken into. Is she next on the killer's list?
Blake has his own issues to deal with, rare minerals are found on his land and people are cutting through the fences and sabotaging property trying to hurt his business. Is he being run off so he will sell the land cheaply?
The author moves the plot along, maintaining the suspense with some twists and turns and secrets. The characters are well developed. I liked seeing some overlap with characters from the author's Tupelo Grove series she co-authors with Rick Acker. I would suggest reading the first book, Ambush, which delves into Alden's backstory and her prior relationship with Blake. Colleen Coble is a master at creating the right balance of romance and mystery keeping us turning the pages to the end. There are some unresolved threads left hanging which lead to the next book in the series. I can hardly wait!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher, Thomas Nelson, for an ARC. The opinions in this review are my own.

“Prowl” by Colleen Coble kept me at the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Blake and Paradise have really been through such a rough time at The Sanctuary, and coming into this book, I was really rooting for them to be past the worst of it. But, this book just proves me wrong in my hopes. Yikes! Someone really has it out for them! But the trouble is, we can’t tell if they are just after Paradise to get her to leave (her life is full of tragedy, heartache, and the glaring unsolved mystery of who killed her parents when she was a child) or if the attackers are just going after The Sanctuary. So much stress and weight rest on Blake and Paradise as they strive to keep The Sanctuary afloat financially while caring for all of the wild creatures, and top it off with Paradise moving into an apartment in town above her new veterinary clinic practice. Now, they are further apart and have less time to spend together on top of juggling all these responsibilities. Truly, these two characters are the main characters of the book, but I have to say that Blake’s mom, Jenna, adds some good wisdom and godly spiritual insight to their situation.
I really enjoyed this book. If you like suspense, then this book is a great choice. I honestly can say that I did not predict the ending or all of the people involved in the plot against The Sanctuary. I had quite a bit of it guessed and thought some of my guesses were highly probable. But, Colleen Coble masterfully wove the suspense in this plot to create an edge-of-your-seat work of art plot. The characters in the story are well written and very believable. Each character shows his or her true colors, and I especially enjoyed watching Blake and Paradise grow personally and spiritually throughout the story. If I had to find something to complain about, it would be that we still don’t know the end of the whole story! Yes, this book ends. Things are wrapped up and the suspense is done for the moment. But, there are so many loose threads hanging, and it is so hard to wait for the next chunk of the story!
Pick it up and read it. You will not regret this suspenseful literary escape.

I was blessed to be able to read an ARC copy of this book with no obligation for a good review; I've been waiting ever so impatiently for it to release since I finished 'AMBUSH' and I was NOT disappointed. It included everything a good book should: romance, mystery, cuddliness, faith, trials, suspense and more. It had this quote that I loved, that I may hang on my wall: "Things happen, bad things. We can't control them, but we can temper how we react to them."
My only regret is that I read faster than the author writes and now I have to wait to read her next release. But that is a good thing.

Prowl was an awesome second book in Colleen Coble's Sanctuary series. I could not put it down. I was so glad to return to the Sanctuary with Paradise and Blake, back into more danger and another mystery to solve. In the first book of the series, Paradise learned that she has a brother. So, she has set out to discover who and where he is. Yet it appears that someone doesn't want her to find him. At the same time, there has been another death at the Sanctuary. From the opening chapter the reader knows it wasn't an accident. But who now is trying to saboutage the Sanctuary? And why? Who is stalking Paradise and endangering her life? It becomes imperative to find answers, especially because the local cop is trying to, once again, pin the crime on an innocent party. There are so many threads that need to be unraveled. So many twists that are unexpected. So much at stake that I had to keep reading. I needed to know how everything connected. The suspense and danger kept me on my toes, as they usually do with a Colleen Coble book. And I love the connection to the author's Pelican Harbor series and also her new series with Rick Acker, the Tupelo Grove series. Plus the author has brought The Phantom of the Opera into this story in some diabolical ways.
I highly recommend this book, but I'd make sure to read Ambush first. And also, even though the plot doesn't connect with the Tupelo Grove books, I do recommend reading them so you can get to know Hez and Savannah, who appear in this series.
I received an e-copy of this book through NetGalley and as a member of the launch team. I was not required to write a favorable review. These are my own honest thoughts.

This second book in the Sanctuary series by Colleen Coble was engrossing from page one. I love the idea of a wildlife sanctuary and I was intrigued to see how far Paradise Alden had progressed in her search for her parent’s killer. But the quest seems to be side-tracked by another murder staged to look like a big cat attack. And someone from her past is trying to stop her investigating. The Sanctuary is in deep financial trouble and a solution presents itself. But is it a ruse or is it even viable. Then there is the matter of a missing will that poses an additional problem.
The romance between Paradise and Blake Lawson permeates the story, but with everything going on, it is hard for them to set a wedding date. Blake is in protection mode, not only with Paradise but with his mom and little brothers too. A lot is on his shoulders. Paradise still wants to assert her independence, however is very grateful for Blake when he comes to the rescue.
Ms Coble writes a well-researched, intricately plotted story that had me turning pages. I loved seeing the Lawson family connections, their strong faith and a few characters from other books.
This series is not to be missed. I am eager to see what happens in book three.

More happenings at The Sanctuary?!? YES PLEASE!
Book 1 Ambush ended on a bit of a cliffhanger and I couldn't wait to see where Book 2 went. I was not disappointed. I devoured this in a day!
-More Blake & Paradise
-More sweet family moments with Jenna & the boys
-Another murder
-More animals and snippets about them
-Twists and turns and then more twist and turns
-Fast paced, bingeable, couldn't put it down
-Character Growth
-Sweet, protective relationship
I loved the faith elements and how this story shows how God is in control of our stories. I cannot wait to see how things wrap up in Book 3 for the overall mystery.
I am a huge fan of Colleen Coble and her trilogies! She offers plenty of twists and turns in each book while leaving the overarching mystery resolution to the end. Chefs kiss!

Barely have Paradise and Blake overcome previous hurdles facing the wildlife park than a new worker is found dead in the tiger enclosure - and when it turns out to be murder, Blake is of course the chief suspect; And there's more going on, too - someone seems determined to stymie Paradise's attempts to find the brother whose existence she only recently discovered, someone is sabotaging the wildlife park, there are questions about the park's ownership, and valuable rare earth has been found on the property. Are these things connected or separate? Either way, who's behind them and what are they trying to achieve? And can Paradise and Blake work out the truth before someone else gets killed?
A fast-paced story that kept me guessing but also allowed enough time between the action and mystery-solving for Blake and Paradise to develop their relationship and also grow as people. With plenty of moving parts, an interesting cast (including a couple from a different series) and an unusual setting, I kept turning pages far too long, intrigued by all the different hints, happenings, possible motives and potential crooks. And in the middle of it all, Blake and Paradise get to know each other better after a long separation, including each facing past baggage (particularly Paradise). The result is a great mix of mystery, suspense and romance, with the only negative being the questions left unanswered to be solved (presumably) in the next book. Note that this is best read as part of a series, as it follows directly from and somewhat relies on book 1 and also leaves a lot to be sorted out in book 3.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

As Paradise tries to help Blake save the animal sanctuary, someone begins to threaten her life--not just threaten but attempts to kill her! Now, in addition to working to save the sanctuary, Blake is driven to try to save Paradise from whomever is trying to kill her while trying to help her figure out who and why. Can he save her before it's too late or will others be murdered before the mystery can be solved?
Come along for this thrilling mystery and see if you can discover the murderer before Ms. Coble reveals the well-hidden secret!
I highly recommend this story to anyone who loves to solve a great puzzle, Christian fiction, and strong characters.

I can’t even tell you which book I first read by Ms. Coble, but I can tell you it was an instant hit with me and I knew I had a new author to follow. I have watched for her books to be released, and I’ve enjoyed every one that I’ve read. This one is no exception.
PROWL is the second novel in the Sanctuary series by Colleen Coble. I was unaware that a new series had been started so I missed the first book, but this tells me that the books can be read as standalones, meaning you can read and enjoy a book on its’ own without having read the other books in the series. That being said, I will be backtracking to read the first book, Ambush. And the third book, Conspiracy will be available July 2026.
This book is made up of mini stories within a larger story. The main story begins when a young woman who works at the Lawson’s Wildlife Sanctuary is brutally mauled to death by a lion. It’s a horrific event that sends shock waves through the community and the backlash of bad publicity is only made worse by the discovery that the lion was not the only one responsible for her death. On the heels of the attack Paradise Alden, the local veterinarian and girlfriend to Blake Lawson, is victimized by a campaign of terror and struggles to keep her independence. As the story unfolds, more details are brought to light and the plot unfolds in a believable and horrific fashion. I found myself drawn to the story as if I were a witness to the crimes being committed. The characters were well fleshed out and the background of the story was well detailed. I enjoyed the story thoroughly and I look forward to book number three.
Prowl by Colleen Coble is an enthralling blend of suspense and romance that kept me hooked with its twists and emotional depth.
The suspenseful plot, featuring a murder mystery set in a wildlife sanctuary, was perfectly balanced with a heartfelt second chance romance that feels authentic and grounded.
I really enjoyed the well developed characters…. Paradise's strength and growth in the face of trauma and Blake's dedication to family and the sanctuary added richness to their relationship and the story.
The themes of forgiveness, healing, and not letting the past define you resonate strongly, giving the book a meaningful emotional center.
The seamless theme of faith and found family elements makes this book more than just a thriller; it’s a deeply satisfying and inspirational read.
Prowl is a gripping, heartfelt page turner that I wholeheartedly recommend to fans of romantic suspense.
The definition of sanctuary is a place of refuge or safety, which is exactly what the Sanctuary in this book is for, not only wild animals, but people who need a place of refuge or a place to belong.
There is nothing slow about this book. In the first few pages, one of the workers at the Sanctuary is found dead in the tiger enclosure. What first looks like an accident is quickly changed to be a murder by tranquilizer gun, which puts Blake Lawson on the suspect list. This is the just the first of many strange accidents that start occurring on the property. Blake Lawson and his family are struggling to keep the Sanctuary in the black and now it seems someone is determined to sabotage all they have worked for.
Paradise Alden is a wildlife vet who works for the Sanctuary. Blake and Paradise's romance is getting more serious. Paradise is dealing with her own personal issues as she is seeking the find a brother that she never knew she had, but someone seems intent on blocking her actions to find him, so this was another mystery within the mystery.
This book and this series have likable characters, but also some very unlikable ones as well. This was an interesting mystery with many moving parts and is mostly set at the wildlife preserve. The author definitely throws an twist or two into the mix which left me reeling.
Some of the lessons that I saw on the pages of this book included fear is a liar, learning to lean on others, integrity, even when that honesty may make you lose everything, and most importantly having a strong faith. All of the characters had struggles that they were dealing with in some form or fashion, which made them more real to me as the reader. I cannot say enough good things about this book or this series, for that matter.
Thank you to Thomas Nelson Fiction and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Colleen Coble has long been a favorite of mine. Prowl is an example of why. This story is suspenseful and full of action as Blake Lawson and his mom Jenna, owners of The Sanctuary wildlife preserve, are trying to hold onto their place while someone is sabotaging them. First, a worker is killed and more scare tactics occur. Blake's fiancé, Paradise and their on site vet is also the target of attempts on her life. Someone wants the property and they soon find out why but who is behind it all? This is a stress filled, never-ending tale of danger and problems. Hold on tight as the events roll by in this great second story of the series with appearances of characters from the Tupelo Grove and Pelican Harbor series, all set in southern coastal Alabama.

Colleen Coble’s latest, Prowl, is a story that will grip you from beginning to end. Taking up right where the previous book in this series left off, we have the continuation of the mystery surrounding our heroine Paradise’s family as well as danger haunting the animal sanctuary. In typical Colleen Coble fashion, we have the perfect blend of intrigue and romance, making this story a guaranteed emotional rollercoaster. I loved the variety of characters, but I especially loved the setting at a wild animal refuge. Both tragic and captivating, this book truly resounded with me.

Prowl by Colleen Coble is an exceptional novel that immediately captures the reader’s attention and never lets go. From the first page, I was drawn into the vivid world Coble creates—a world centered around a wildlife sanctuary that is as mysterious as it is beautiful. The setting itself becomes a character, full of life, danger, and redemption. Coble’s attention to detail and her ability to weave the natural world seamlessly into the storyline made the reading experience deeply immersive.
The characters of Paradise and Blake are incredibly well developed and compelling. Paradise’s strength, resilience, and emotional depth make her a protagonist worth rooting for, while Blake’s steady presence and unwavering sense of purpose provide the perfect balance. Their relationship unfolds naturally throughout the story, with moments of tension, vulnerability, and genuine connection that feel authentic and deeply human. Coble’s skill in crafting characters who are both flawed and faithful gives the story a richness that lingers long after the final page.
What I appreciated most about Prowl was the perfect blend of mystery, romance, and faith. The suspense keeps the reader engaged, while the underlying themes of trust, forgiveness, and renewal add emotional weight to the narrative. Coble has a remarkable talent for creating stories that are both thrilling and meaningful, offering not just entertainment but also reflection and hope.
Overall, Prowl is a beautifully written and emotionally resonant novel that highlights Colleen Coble’s gift for storytelling. It is a captivating journey through love, danger, and faith set against the backdrop of a sanctuary filled with life and second chances. Fans of inspirational suspense and heartfelt romance will find Prowl to be an unforgettable read.

In this second of the Sanctuary series we find Paradise Alden moving into the small apartment above the veterinary office. She is beginning her job as Wildlife Vet for the Sanctuary as well as assisting townsfolk of Nova Cambridge with their pets. It is still heavy on her mind to discover who murdered her parents. She is starting to remember parts of the disaster that day but never who committed the crime. She is back with Blake Lawson, her boss and fiance. There are still problems that are occurring with the animals and on the ranch. Some group is trying to assault Blake’s family and business.
Prowl will be published on November 04, 2025 by Thomas Nelson. I was able to read and review Coble’s latest novel via NetGalley. It picks up where Ambush, part one, left off. Paradise and Blake are struggling to keep the business afloat while working with family lawyer, Hez. Legally they fear they could lose the land and all that is on it. Prowl is an excellent thriller. If readers have read Ambush don’t miss the next chapter. For others, Prowl is a terrific journey. Do enjoy!

This is a well-crafted and twisted mystery/romantic suspense featuring Blake Lawson who runs The Sanctuary and Paradise Alden who is the vet there for all of the wild animals. The two of them are in love but have constantly postponed getting married because of issues dealing with Blake’s business. In this novel, someone is sabotaging The Sanctuary with threats and intimidation. When Blake discovers that the land he and his mom own has rare earth elements on it that could be worth millions, at least he knows why someone is determined to get them to sell. But he doesn’t want to give up on the dream that his mom and stepdad started together. There is a subplot about Paradise trying to find her brother which had some interesting twists as well. I enjoyed the way the mystery unfolded methodically with plenty of clues as well as fake trails, although it was fairly obvious who really wanted the land. What was not obvious was the person pulling the strings and that was a surprising reveal near the conclusion. I also was impressed with the character development and how their flaws did not weaken their faith and their hope that all would work out, even when things got very dicey towards the end. This is an absorbing read with non-stop action and relatable characters. I am already looking forward to the next book in this series.

Thank you NetGalley for this wonderful ARC for my honest review this is the second book in her Sanctuary series and WOW what a story. She puts so many twists and turns in this very suspenseful book and even murder. Blake and Paradise have quite the journey in their life including caring for all their animals at the sanctuary and in between finding time for their romantic relationship. I just love how Colleen Coble pulls together precious moments of giving all your trials and tribulations to God. As she says in this book………Talk to God about it, That’s where the true healing is found. I love this. Colleen has that special gift of mixing Faith with a sweet clean romance and throwing in suspense along the way. All I can say is you are going to love this story from the very start and you won’t be able to put it down. She will only leave you wanting more. I sure hope there will be another book in this series.

What a book! This book 2 in the Sanctuary series is a wild ride with more mystery and death. Someone is still attacking the Sanctuary, Paradise, Blake and his family. After years of being away from each other, Blake and Paradise are back in each other’s lives and more in love with each other. They are growing closer and closer every day. But there is someone who’s after them constantly to get the sanctuary from them. Paradise is still searching her parents murderer and she finds out she has a brother out there now too. Every time she gets close to finding the truth she’s either attacked or something happens. I love how Colleen Coble takes a mystery such as this series and keeps just making it more and more intriguing until you want to know who’s after her and new found family.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Prowl is the second book in Colleen Coble’s Sanctuary series. Set somewhere between Nova Cambridge and Pelican Harbor, AL (locations of two of her other series with some character overlap) this story relates the occurrences at the wild animal sanctuary owned and operated by Blake Lawson and his widowed mother Jenna Anderson.
Someone is trying to terrorize Blake and Jenna, trying to get them to leave the sanctuary property. In the first book, there are those trying to find oil and gas under the property. Could these happenings be related to that? If so, why murder an employee and why spread the terror to include Sanctuary veterinarian and Blake’s girlfriend, Paradise Alden?
At the same time, Paradise is pursuing her own quest to discover who murdered her parents decades ago and where her older half brother, that she has just learned about, was given up for adoption before her birth is now? And could the two mysteries overlap?
This is such a good story! With carefully hidden Easter eggs scattered throughout, a cast of well drawn characters, and a perfectly twisted plot, I did very much enjoy this mystery and I do recommend it!
This book was action packed from the very first page. I did not want to put it down. I highly recommend you read book 1 before you read this one. Blake and Paradise have finally found love again and are looking forward to a calmer future when more trouble is found at their door. This poor couple cannot catch a break. I enjoyed seeing these characters again and definitely recommend this series if you are looking for an action packed Christian suspense novel
Great book!! Mystery, romanse, suspense, all in one. I was entertained. Didn't feel as though I was missing too much, but I will go back and read the 1st book before I cotinue on in the series. I enjoyed Blake and Alden.

Could not wait to read the second book in this series, and it did not disappoint! A romantic suspense based at a wildlife sanctuary Prowl had me hooked from chapter one all the way to the end. Truly enjoyed getting to continue along with Paradise and the Lawson family's story.
Book two in the Sanctuary series brings more danger, drama, and suspense than the first!
Prowl by Colleen Coble follows the story of an animal sanctuary owned by Blake Lawson. After discovering someone dead in the tiger enclosure, he uncovers a sinister plot – someone wants to steal the land from him. He’s still trying to find his footing with his relationship with Paradise Alden, but she consumed with finding her newly discovered brother.
I’m here for the drama! I love stories with complex plots, hidden danger, and hopeless, against-all-odds situations. Blake is on the cusp of losing everything. Someone from Paradise’s past is stalking her. This story takes readers on an adventure and an emotional journey. Also, I love animals, so that aspect makes the story even more interesting. I can’t wait for book number three. I do recommend reading this series in order as it follows the same characters, so start with Ambush.

This is the second book in my first series by Colleen Coble. I enjoyed this book much more than the second. It was full of fast-paced action and drama that kept me intrigued all the way to the end. I definitely recommend this series although I would start with the first book. I am eagerly awaiting the next book to continue Blake and Paradise’s story.
Prowl by Colleen Coble.
Thank you to Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio for the gifted ARC, and major props to NetGalley for making my TBR taller and my sleep schedule worse.
Okay, besties, let’s clock in and talk shop because Prowl had me running a full emotional performance review on my life choices. This is Book 2 of The Sanctuary series, and let me tell you, Colleen Coble does not do “calm sequels.” She does “grab your latte and hold onto something sturdy.”
We open with a body in the tiger enclosure, and immediately I’m like, “Oh cool, we’re skipping the warm-up and going straight to the plot sprint.” Everyone thinks the tiger did it, but spoiler: the tiger is innocent, your honor. Turns out someone used a tranquilizer dart, and the blame gets shoved at Blake Lawson faster than a bad memo in a Monday meeting. He’s juggling finances, missing soil tests, and murder accusations like he’s trying to meet end-of-quarter KPIs.
Meanwhile Paradise Alden is over here living her own thriller, trying to track down the brother she didn’t know existed while also dodging mysterious break-ins, missing DNA results, and some creep who is apparently binge-watching Phantom of the Opera and using it as inspiration. Not the vibe. Not approved. HR needs to intervene.
And because this is still romantic suspense, Blake and Paradise are trying to nurture their relationship in the middle of all this chaos. Honestly, their dynamic is corporate synergy at its finest: collaboration, conflict management, strategic communication, the works. Are they perfect? No. Are they trying? Absolutely. And I respect that grind.
The sanctuary itself shines in this story. It’s cozy, wild, dangerous, and soothing all at once, like a rustic Airbnb but with tigers and menacing stalkers. The animal details are vivid and grounding, and every time Blake’s little brothers show up, the whole book levels up in cuteness ROI.
Karen Peakes’ narration deserves a bonus and a corner office. She brings every character to life with emotion and clarity. No flat voices. No confusion. Just straight premium audio experience.
Coble, per usual, keeps the suspense tight and the pacing sharp. The mystery web gets bigger, the stakes climb higher, and just when you think you’ve cracked the code, nope. Another twist. Another clue. Another “ma’am, I did NOT see that coming.”
One thing this book does incredibly well is balance. Romance never overpowers the suspense, and the suspense never suffocates the heart of the story. The faith elements feel organic, not forced, like gentle reminders instead of lectures. And we get juicy interconnected character cameos from Pelican Harbor and Tupelo Grove, so continuity nerds, rise up. It’s like the Colleen Coble Cinematic Universe.
And y’all… the quote that hit me like a CFO evaluating my budget request:
“Things happen, bad things. We can’t control them, but we can temper how we react to them.”
That’s wall-art level wisdom. Might stitch it on a throw pillow immediately.
By the time the last chapter rolled in, I was fully caffeinated, fully stressed, fully invested, and absolutely not prepared for the cliffhanger. Colleen really said, “Tune in next fiscal year for more drama,” and honestly, respect. I will be seated.
Final verdict: gripping, cozy, atmospheric, witty, high-stakes, emotional, faith-filled, and deeply bingeable. Five stars with enthusiasm. This series is only getting stronger.

This is the second book in Colleen Coble's "Sanctuary" series and a great read! I absolutely loved the way the animals and there interactions with the characters was so loving and authentic. I've been reading Colleen Coble for many years since I've discovered Christian romantic suspense and she just keeps getting better! This book starts with Paradise and Blake once again facing mounting challenges together. Paradise is a veterinarian who is in love with Blake Lawson who owns The Sanctuary with his mother and his two little brothers. It opens with Ivy a recent hire who feeds the animals being found in the new tiger cage dead! At first they think it was the tiger who mauled Ivy but they soon discover that it was staged to look that way. The police of course try to blame the murder on Blake so once again Paradise and Blake do there own investigating and discover someone is targeting the sancuaries land! Paradise is also being harassed by someone, while she tries to find her half brother and also solve her parents murders from years ago! I enjoyed this book more then the first book Ambush! This book was more intriguing and its bringing things together nicely. I enjoy the way each book has its own little suspenseful mysteries separate from the main plot and yet still bringing it all together. I also loved Paradise and Blakes relationship its very wholesome and loving with God at there center. But with Paradise still navigating her way through. Also the two little brothers are simply adorable! I cannot wait for the final book in this series Conspiracy coming July 2026!! I want to thank Colleen Coble, Netgalley and Thomas Nelson Publishing for providing me with an arc of Prowl in exchange for my honest opinion.

Colleen Coble just gets better with each book she writes. In this latest novel, Prowl, the second book in the Sanctuary Series, Coble continues the growing romance between veterinarian Paradise Acres and Blake Lawson, and his family's continued fight to keep The Sanctuary, a local zoo. An unknown enemy seeks to drive the Lawon family off the Sanctuary land but also seems to want to see Paradise leave the area. What no one can figure out is - are the continued attacks on the Lawson family and Paradise separate events or is there a connection? In the midst of all of this, Paradise continues her personal search for justice for her murdered parents and finding her brother. The book keeps you continuously guessing as to the perpetrators and as to how the story will end,
As is a trademark of Coble's, she not only entertains her readers with suspense and clean romance, she also writes to encourage her audience. In this book, themes such as forgiveness and loyalty are explored through her characters. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Prowl by Colleen Coble is a riveting Christian romantic suspense novel that expertly balances danger, emotion, and faith. When a worker is found dead in the tiger enclosure at the Sanctuary, suspicion falls on Blake Lawson, and it’s up to wildlife vet Paradise Alden to help clear his name. As she digs deeper, she faces sabotage, eerie threats, and secrets about her long-lost brother. Coble’s writing brings the sanctuary vividly to life, and her characters—especially Paradise and Blake—are both deeply relatable and courageous. With its heartfelt romance, high-stakes mystery, and themes of redemption and family, Prowl is a compelling and deeply satisfying read.
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book. WOW!! Colleen Coble did it again. I loved the first book, and I feel the same way about this book. I can't wait for the third book now. If you're looking for a gripping, faith-based second-chance romance, this book is perfect.
First of all, I loved all the information about the animals. Coble's writing feels like an intro to an engaging zoology class, haha. I loved this aspect of the book, and I found the worldbuilding extremely immersive. Coupled with descriptions of scenery and Southern cultural tidbits, the setting is excellent.
Next, I was touched by the romantic storyline. In this book, we watch the two main characters as they progress in their relationship. Coble depicts the humanity of romance. She shows how two people bring their mess to the table and how a couple has to work on their own issues. Personally, I really resonated with Paradise's struggles. I felt God using this book to point out some things to me, and I'm so grateful for that.
Finally, this book was SO spooky and gripping. I just had to know everything and figure out all the answers. I like how it ended, even though there were some hard moments for the characters. The mystery had me VERY intrigued and ready to discover the truth.
Absolutely loved this one and can't wait for book three!
Happy reading,

A gripping mystery, a Phantom of the Opera stalker, adorable animals, & a heartfelt 2nd chance romance made Prowl unputdownable! Colleen Coble delivers another heart-stopping, exciting, romantic sequel in the Sanctuary series. Paradise & Blake have their hands full when the sanctuary is the sight of a murder. Add in someone stalking Paradise, an unbelievable discovery on the park’s lands, & the unpredictability of wild animals, & you have another exciting, edge of your seat mystery!
The last thing the Sanctuary needs is more bad publicity. As the refuge’s co-owner, Blake Lawson does his best to keep it afloat & care for his widowed mother & two young brothers. With Paradise back in his life, he’s excited for a second chance with her. But, after an employee’s found murdered in the park & a creepy stalker is using Paradise’s favorite musical to taunt her, their romantic future plans are put on hold. A discovery on the park’s lands though could mean a solution to their money troubles or potential disaster. It’ll take all their faith & fortitude to save the park & find the murderer before it’s too late.
I absolutely love Paradise & Blake! Their road back to each other has plenty of bumps & turns. Paradise’s parents were murdered when she was a child & she can’t move on until her memories return of that fateful night. She wants to be independent & chaffs when Blake’s overprotective, but when the threats accelerate, there’s nobody she’d rather turn to. I enjoyed seeing her confront her past. I’m so excited to see what happens in book 3.
Blake’s such a great guy! He’s learning to be patient & take things slow. Paradise’s been through a lot & he’s right there to support her. I love his relationship with his mom & little brothers too.
The mystery is filled with twists & turns! Just when I thought I had it figured out, there’s another piece to the puzzle. I enjoyed all the animals included in the story along with seeing Hez & Savannah from the Tupelo Grove series. When all the clues come together, they lead to a thrilling ending.
Highly recommend! Looking forward to the next book in the series! I received an advanced copy from the publisher with no expectation of a positive review. All opinions are completely my own & provided voluntarily.

Christian suspense readers will enjoy this second book in the Sanctuary series. I do recommend reading the first book of the series before this one. A lot of characters to keep up with but each adds another dimension to the story. The wild life sanctuary is an interesting setting and all the facts about the different species adds a lot. I like that the incidents happening at the Sanctuary is not an easy thing to solve. I like that Paradise is a complex character and not a pushover. Enjoyable novel. Recommended.

Prowl: A Small-Town, Second-Chance Romantic Suspense by Colleen Coble is book 2 in the Sanctuary series. I just loved this book so much! Ms Coble is such a talented author and it feels like each book she writes gets better than the last. Here, so many mysteries get resolved that were left hanging in the first book. The characters were great and the suspense from people and animals was tremendous. I absolutely loved how the animal sanctuary features in this book. It is such a unique piece of romantic suspense and I highly recommend this series. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
She is one of my 3 favorite Christian fiction suspense authors. The list hasn’t changed ever. This is the second in the Sanctuary series. Both books were awesome and I highly recommend. The action jumped right off the page. Several, believable red herrings along the way, of course. Ms. Coble’s writing is so descriptive, it’s easy to picture as the story unfolds. She’s also an author I often re read and an auto pre order. The romance is always sweet, clean and pure.. Highly recommend.
I was blessed with an ARC. Thank you NetGalley. The opinions expressed are my own and unbiased.
Well, I read this one in one sitting. I loved this sequel to Ambush! While this book has its own mystery and conclusion, the overarching issues in this trilogy aren’t quite resolved. I would definitely encourage you to read these in order. And while there are overlapping characters between Pelican Bay and Tupelo Grove, you can read the Sanctuary series on its own. But reading Coble’s other series only adds delight when those characters appear here!
Diving back into Paradise and Blake’s relationship was rewarding because it’s nice to see them growing in their love and maturing in their relationship- even over a few months. That being said- they’re still working on some things, which was nice to see. The danger plaguing The Sanctuary is as nerve-wracking as ever. Lots of questions answered in this one but still a long way to go. The third book- Conspiracy- is going to be a fun ride as we tie up all these threads. I enjoyed the addition of Drew and I’m looking forward to him being part of the action next time. Blake’s brothers light up the page when they’re present and their little boy energy made me grin.
The animals are a joy… well, except the incident right at the beginning… eep! But The Sanctuary reminds me of an animal park I’ve been to and I almost feel like I’m there in the pages of the book.
Definitely recommended for romantic suspense fans!
I received a complementary copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. I was not asked to leave a positive review. My opinions are my own.
This was a suspenseful book and I couldn’t wait to learn what was happening next at The Sanctuary! Definitely kept me reading.

This is the second book in the Sanctuary series. It would beneficial to read the first book, Ambush, before reading this book. Paradise and Blake are continuing their struggle to keep the animal sanctuary running. The book starts with Paradise finding a dead body on Sanctuary grounds. The action starts there and doesn't end. Blake is a suspected of murder and the Sanctuary is tittering on financial ruin.
I couldn't put in down and recommend it to all who enjoy a good mystery.
I received this book from Thomas Nelson Publishing via Net/Galley for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

Prowl is a quick, engaging suspense read that pulls you in right away. Colleen Coble does a great job creating that “something’s not quite right” feeling, and the main character is easy to connect with—flawed, determined, and someone you want to see succeed.
The story moves at a nice pace with just enough twists to keep things interesting without getting confusing. The small-town setting adds to the tension, and there’s a good mix of mystery, emotion, and a touch of hope.
Overall, it’s an enjoyable, fast read—perfect if you like clean suspense with characters you genuinely care about. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.
Colleen Coble delivers the perfect mix of edge of your seat suspense and enough romance to provide a sigh of satisfaction. The action starts with the first pages and doesn't let up. The dangerous game of finding answers has Paradise and Blake dodging death shots and trying to prove their innocence at the same time. With little choice but to push forward, how many risks can they take before the stranger in the shadows lands the deadly blow?
It was so fun to rejoin these characters and see them develop more both individually and as a couple. The chance to watch their God knowledge and dependence grow was so rewarding. The added depth helps to pull the reader into the story even more. With the similar setting it's like taking a road trip to a favorite spot.
Colleen Coble keeps the adrenaline high and the twists coming one after the other to keep the reader guessing to the very end. Prepare for late nights to get through all the danger and attempts to find the answers to solve the mystery. Colleen Coble is an auto read author for me, she never disappoints! This book is well worth the read! I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I actually liked this story better than the first one in the series! More of the mystery is solved, there are some new characters, and we get to know the original characters better! There's excitement, romance, and some drama too.
