Description
Prowl, the second book in USA TODAY bestselling author Colleen Coble's Sanctuary series (following Ambush), delivers exactly what her fans want: the ideal blend of suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat with just the right amount of romance. Perfect for fans of Laura Dave, Allison Brennan, and Dani Pettrey.
When a worker at the Sanctuary is discovered dead in the tiger enclosure, authorities assume the big cat killed her. But when the autopsy shows she was killed by a lethal dose of anesthetic delivered by a tranquilizer gun, suspicion falls on Blake Lawson, co-owner of the Sanctuary. Blake has his hands full trying to clear his name as well as get the Sanctuary finances back in the black. When a soil test turns up traces of rare earth, he's even more puzzled. Is someone trying to run them out of business to get to whatever is under the ground?
Meanwhile, wildlife veterinarian Paradise Alden is determined to find the brother she only recently learned even existed. When the results of the DNA test she ran mysteriously disappear from her portal before she can read them, she realizes someone must not want her to know the truth. A break-in at her new apartment is alarming, but she tries to pass it off as someone trying to scare her away. She refuses to turn tail and run when she is desperate for answers.
For Blake, the only solid ground is his relationship with Paradise, and he longs to propose--but how can they even think about starting a life together with so many forces working against them?
Colleen Coble's Prowl combines gripping suspense with closed-door romance and includes intriguing mysteries from both the past and present, sabotage and danger, second-chance romance, found family, and themes of overcoming pain and how the past doesn't have to define you.
Also in this series: Ambush (book 1, available now) and Conspiracy (book 3, available July 2026).

Another beautiful read that touches on Christianity.
Paradise is just opening a new Vet Practice in her old hometown, while also working at the Sanctuary, where her boyfriend (Blake) and his family are owners.
Just one problem.
Paradise is getting threatening notes, and little things are showing up from her childhood.
A childhood that was RIPPED away from her when her parents were killed when she was very young.
AND, it seems like the Sanctuary is being threatened as well!
Are they connected??
And, we open up with the death of a young worker at the Sanctuary. She is found in the tiger enclosure, and it's thought that she was killed by same... but then there's an investigation... and all of that goes out the window.
This is interspersed with adorable, sweet animals, and children, and loving touches, and memories of family and friends, and so... much... more!
Beautiful, heartfelt read!!
5 beautiful, bright, huge stars for me!!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishing team for the opportunity to listen to this title in advance.
Another great hit from Colleen Coble! Following in the footsteps of book 1 in the Sanctuary series, book 2- Prowl, is a fantastic small town suspense story with a fulfilling closed-door romance story.
Colleen Coble is the perfect example of romantic suspense that handles death tactically and has incredible characters on their own individual journeys.
I loved that there is some cross over with her other series (Tupelo Grove) that is happening in the same timeline. I love Colleen’s characters and they become so real-it’s so fun to see them pop into other stories. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
The audio narration was perfect for this story and really added to the narrative and reading experience.
This is the second book in The Sanctuary series. I loved both books but this one is better. Romance, mystery and action! 5 stars
Many thanks to Net Galley and Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio for an audio ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! Who knew you could be taken on a roller coaster ride at an animal sanctuary park? and I loved every minute. There was a lot going on and with this being book two I have missed out on some of the backstory but that won't happen again or with the next book. Even with beginning with this book I still found the story easy to follow but I think I might have missed out on a good story and will have to correct that, I enjoyed it that much. To start with, the setting is unusual and while the animals themselves don't really have a role to play in the story they are the focus of all the drama, with somebody trying to take the sanctuary away. I normally wish the author would stick to the investigation but the sanctuary and home life drama was so tightly sound up in the story that I found it all captivating and I cared what happened to the characters, hence the roller coaster of emotions I experienced as the story unfolded. The story is categorised as a Second-Chance Romantic Suspense which normally would have put me off, as I am not a big fan of romance, I am glad the blurb caught my fancy because I would have missed out on a great story and it so much more than that. There was several mysteries going on with a new murder, sabotage and cold case murders. Most of them did get solved but there is a long running story surrounding Paradise parents deaths and the secrets they left behind that carries on to the next book, which is why I will defiantly be looking out for the next book.
The sanctuary has been struggling but when one of the tigers kills a volunteer, Paradise and her boyfriend Blake fear the worse for the family run business but it's about to get a lot worse. The autopsies reveals the volunteer was drugged before being left in the tiger cage. Is somebody trying to get them to sell the sanctuary by sabotaging it? At the same time somebody is leaving Paradise creepy gifts, that she thinks they are connected to her parents murder. The sell of the sanctuary to Blake's family is also in question with the appearance of a will? Being attacked on several fronts has the couple scrambling to stay alive and to protect what they care most about and the only why to do that is by finding the will, solving a death that was written off as an accident and finding a killer.
I liked the narrator. She made the story roar to life with suspense and tension. I would listen to her again.
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the second book in the Sanctuary series. I have read the first book in this series before picking up this book, and I do think you need to read the first book before picking up this book. I listened to the audiobook for this book, and I really enjoyed the audiobook. I got pulled into the story right away. I loved that the characters are the same as in the first book. I love the animals, and I wished we got more of the animals in this book. There was a ton of drama and suspense throughout. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

Prowl is the second book in Colleen Coble’s Sanctuary series. Set somewhere between Nova Cambridge and Pelican Harbor, AL (locations of two of her other series with some character overlap) this story relates the occurrences at the wild animal sanctuary owned and operated by Blake Lawson and his widowed mother Jenna Anderson.
Someone is trying to terrorize Blake and Jenna, trying to get them to leave the sanctuary property. In the first book, there are those trying to find oil and gas under the property. Could these happenings be related to that? If so, why murder an employee and why spread the terror to include Sanctuary veterinarian and Blake’s girlfriend, Paradise Alden?
At the same time, Paradise is pursuing her own quest to discover who murdered her parents decades ago and where her older half brother, that she has just learned about, was given up for adoption before her birth is now? And could the two mysteries overlap?
This is such a good story! With carefully hidden Easter eggs scattered throughout, a cast of well drawn characters, and a perfectly twisted plot, I did very much enjoy this mystery and I do recommend it!
A gripping mystery, a Phantom of the Opera stalker, adorable animals, & a heartfelt 2nd chance romance made Prowl unputdownable! Colleen Coble delivers another heart-stopping, exciting, romantic sequel in the Sanctuary series. Paradise & Blake have their hands full when the sanctuary is the sight of a murder. Add in someone stalking Paradise, an unbelievable discovery on the park’s lands, & the unpredictability of wild animals, & you have another exciting, edge of your seat mystery!
The last thing the Sanctuary needs is more bad publicity. As the refuge’s co-owner, Blake Lawson does his best to keep it afloat & care for his widowed mother & two young brothers. With Paradise back in his life, he’s excited for a second chance with her. But, after an employee’s found murdered in the park & a creepy stalker is using Paradise’s favorite musical to taunt her, their romantic future plans are put on hold. A discovery on the park’s lands though could mean a solution to their money troubles or potential disaster. It’ll take all their faith & fortitude to save the park & find the murderer before it’s too late.
I absolutely love Paradise & Blake! Their road back to each other has plenty of bumps & turns. Paradise’s parents were murdered when she was a child & she can’t move on until her memories return of that fateful night. She wants to be independent & chaffs when Blake’s overprotective, but when the threats accelerate, there’s nobody she’d rather turn to. I enjoyed seeing her confront her past. I’m so excited to see what happens in book 3.
Blake’s such a great guy! He’s learning to be patient & take things slow. Paradise’s been through a lot & he’s right there to support her. I love his relationship with his mom & little brothers too.
The mystery is filled with twists & turns! Just when I thought I had it figured out, there’s another piece to the puzzle. I enjoyed all the animals included in the story along with seeing Hez & Savannah from the Tupelo Grove series. When all the clues come together, they lead to a thrilling ending.
I listened to the audiobook version & loved the narrator! She did a fantastic job voicing both male & female characters. I also appreciated the emotion she put in to the performance with just the right amount.
Highly recommend! Looking forward to the next book in the series! I received an advanced copy from the publisher with no expectation of a positive review. All opinions are completely my own & provided voluntarily.

What a gripping continuation of the Sanctuary series! A delicious mix of mystery and suspense along with eerie stalker vibes. Love the maturing relationship between Paradise and Blake. They’ve come a long way since the first book but still struggle to let go of control on opposing issues. He’s determinedly protective while she’s fiercely independent. I enjoyed watching them lovingly battle it out to find a middle ground.
The wildlife sanctuary setting and the challenges it is facing provides such a compelling backdrop to the drama of the suspense. So many plot twists and side threads kept me on edge and gasping out loud in places. And that stalker vibe? Seriously creepy!
Definitely a series that needs to be read in order due to the continuation of some of the suspense, Paradise’s family history and, of course, the romance. Plus it was such a joy to meet up again with some of the favourite secondary characters we met in the first book.
I listened to the audio edition narrated by Karen Peake. I enjoyed her performance, especially they way she infuses each character with their unique personalities and she is particularly talented at creating believable children’s voices which is a huge plus. This one is a great option for audio book connoisseurs looking for a compelling ‘read’.
My thanks to Thomas Nelson, Zonervan Fiction Audio and Net Galley for providing me with an audio edition of this book.

Book two of the Sanctuary Series by Colleen Coble. Someone is still trying to get the Animal Sanctuary closed down. Paradise and Blake are still going strong after they reunited in the first book. Paradise is also strengthening her relationship with God. This is one thing I really love about Coble's work is her integration of Christianity in her novels.
I loved being back in Nova Cambridge with Paradise and Blake!! The storyline kept me just as intrigued as Ambush did.
After the dust finally settles from the events in Ambush, The Sanctuary finds itself being targeted—again. Blake knows that the property is valuable, but it appears other people do as well and they’ll stop at nothing to run him and his family off the land—including target Paradise specifically. Will Blake and Paradise be able to uncover the mystery of who is behind it all?
Listen—Colleen’s stories in this series are paced so well! She gives just enough information to make you speculate what’s going on, but not enough that you can guess who’s behind things and why. The books in this series have been like a puzzle that comes together slowly and satisfyingly!
Also, I was able to read this before be without being freaked out. There aren’t tons of gory details or extremely creepy scenes. I appreciate that she keeps things light in that regard while still delivering an enthralling read! I’m already missing this story and look forward to the next book in the series.
I received an ALC from the publisher via NetGalley. I was not required to leave a positive review. All opinions are my own.
Wow! Hold on to your hats ladies and gents and gear up for quite the ride! Prowl is the second book in The Sanctuary series. It is a stand alone that has its own conclusion, but the series has and overreaching arc that won't be solved until the last book. I can't wait for the next one! Supurb writing Colleen Coble.
I both read and listened to the audio of this book. The narrator of the audio was great, easy to listen to, and did a great job.
There are no swears or alcohol, and level 1 kisses only.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from @Netgalley and @thomasnelson. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. #prowl #thomasnelson #netgalley #ColleenCoble
I was admittedly already a Colleen Coble fan before reading this book and likely always will be. I did find this book unique to the others ones I have read. This was my first book with the character Paradise and all the wild animals. I am very glad to have read this book and am looking forward to the next in it's series.
If there is one thing that Coble is best at, it is making her characters realistic. By the time you finish reading this book Paradise feels less like a character and more like someone you know. This is not unique to this book and is something you will find in all her writing. Every single one of her characters have strengths, weaknesses, and faults. Because of this, her books are great for growing in and practicing empathy as you read. It's easy to feel for characters that are so "real".
Colleen Coble also does a great job of talking about real life topics without sugarcoating and without being triggering. I can often relate to some of the hardships in Coble's books, but I always feel reminded where my healing and my comfort come from as opposed to just reminded of trauma. The thrillers are so good because they are real and relatable. While surely most of us don't live at a wild animal sanctuary, a lot of us have faced some real trauma in our lives.
I highly reccomend this book and any other by this author. I am a forever fan.

A must read! I believe I like this one more than book 1 though both are great. I love how there's a main mystery that will probably be solved in the book 3, all while they deal with a suspenful conundrum. A fast pace read, full of nail biting moments, love, and hope.
The narrator does great.

Colleen Coble is one of my favorite authors, who I have to drop everything to read her latest and she never disappoints!
Prowl is book #2 in the Sanctuary series. Wildlife veterinarian Paradise Alden has only been back to her childhood home for a few months and she is determined to find not only her parent's killer but also to find the brother she never knew of, until now.
Blake Lawson was Paradise's best friend before she was taken away from her home and now, she works at his wildlife sanctuary and they are dating. When this read starts, Blake finds one of his workers dead in the tiger's exhibit and it's later learned, she was murdered.
From this moment on, someone is targeting Paradise and the sanctuary and Blake will stop at nothing to protect the woman he loves. Who can they trust and what secrets will they find? This was another awesome -can't stop until I finish read by Colleen Coble!

Prowl by Colleen Coble is the second book in The Sanctuary series. I highly suggest reading Ambush, the first book in the series before reading this one, I know I enjoyed it as much as I because of knowing the back stories from book 1.
We return to the wildlife sanctuary for this second book. After a worker is found dead in the cat encloser it is assumed that she died from an attack. When it was discovered that it was actually murder, Blake is blamed, The incompetent deputy Greene doesn't want to look any further. Paradise and Blake work together to clear his name and get to the bottom of the issues that continue to happen at the sanctuary. Paradise is still working on discovering more about her family and her parents' death. There are still lots of questions about it.
This suspenseful book is entertaining and engaging. It kept me guessing until the end. I enjoyed more of a look at wildlife park, the sweet relationship of Blake and Paradise, and discovering more about Paradise's life. I am looking forward for the next book in the series!
Karen Peakes is the narrator and does a nice job. Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for the advanced reader copy. The options shared are my own.
Prowl by Colleen Coble (Audiobook)
The Sanctuary is a special place for the Lawson family and the animals they care for.
When a worker is found dead in the tiger enclosure, their world is upended. Evidence indicates that she was hit with a tranquilizer and left in the precarious situation with the tiger.
Blake Lawson, a co-owner, is immediately under suspicion.
While he is trying to keep the business side afloat and clear his name, a soil test turns up traces of rare earth on the property.
Someone is trying to chase them off the property and that may be the reason, or it could be tied to the resident veterinarian, Paradise Alden.
Paradise recently found out she has a brother and she is using a DNA test to try and find him. Someone is thwarting her efforts and the results disappear before she can read them. That someone doesn’t want her to find him and danger starts surfacing in all directions.
Blake has always loved Paradise and wants to start their life together but there are so many roadblocks at every turn,
This is a gripping mystery full of suspense, friendship, and love.
The audiobook is phenomenal. The narrator gives voice to each character and brings the book to life. I loved every minute of it!
Collen Coble at her best! I love this series!
My favorite quote: “ It’s impossible to protect the ones you love from what happens in life. Life happens and we can’t control it. All we can do is put it in God’s hands.”
I loved learning things about the animals!
Wonderful storytelling full of suspense! I would like to Thank NetGalley, Thomas Nelson Publishing and Colleen Coble for the opportunity to review an ARC of the audiobook for this wonderful novel! I received a complimentary copy and the opinions expressed in this review are my own. 5/5⭐

After all the attacks on The Sanctuary in Ambush, the first book of the Sanctuary series by Colleen Coble, you might think Paradise, Blake, and their loved ones could catch a break in the sequel. Unfortunately for our friends on the wild animal park, someone is determined to shake their foundation and the public’s opinion of The Sanctuary, working relentlessly to undermine all that holds them up. From a murder in the tiger enclosure to eerie gifts left for Paradise, the path toward truth is as tangled as the Spanish moss and the search is entwined with the search for Paradise’s long lost brother and the person who killed their parents. Colleen Coble knows how to write characters the reader can bond with and action that will keep said reader awake all night turning pages. Prowl is yet another stellar example of that elite level skill.
I received an ARC of this book. It did not influence my review. All opinions expressed here are my own.
I am really enjoying this series. The books I’ve read from this author are always well done. I love how the author writes the characters and suspenseful scenes. I appreciate the faith filled moments too. So many exciting events take place. I didn’t want to stop listening until the last page to see what happens.
I would recommend reading the first book, AMBUSH. The author does a great job of catching the reader up but you will get a better appreciation of the characters and motivations will be explained better if it’s read first.
The audio narrator, Karen Peakes, is one of my favorites. Her expression and the different character voices are always excellent.
I can’t wait for the next book.
I received a NetGalley approval for the audio. All views are my own.
I love this series! This was a great next installment in the story. I enjoy the characters growth and how there was set up for the next book.

Collen Coble is at it again and back with the Sanctuary Series. Collen is a master in crafting a realistic mystery with the right touch of romance to keep it from getting too heavy. Blake and Paradise return and, while their history and interactions pick right back up, the story is a brand-new exciting mystery that will drive you to turn pages faster than you think possible as you race to discover the truth. I love the interactions and the pace at which the story moves. The setting is perfect and such a creative place to write a mystery about. I love that we are securely set in the middle of the Blake and Paradise’s relationship and personal growth, with one more installment to come next year. I am rooting for these two and can’t wait to see what is next!
The audiobook is excellent for ensuring an experience as you read the story. The pace, cadence, and tone all come to life under the narrator's talent and skill.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley, and all opinions expressed are solely my own.

The Brief: Paradise and Blake already got a second chance at love, but now all they hold dear is in danger and the threats are becoming very personal.
The Debrief: Coble has been a long time favorite author of Christian suspense. This is the second book, but I think can be read from here. It completes part of the storylines, but clearly we need another book. A wildlife sanctuary is the backdrop and where Blake and Paradise spend most of their time. Anonymous messages are left in creepy ways and the audio did a great job keeping me on the edge of my seat. I need more happy to stick around for this couple and I’m looking forward to discovering the unsolved mysteries. Another great book!
The Rhyme: When lives are threatened and secrets exposed how can Paradise find peace? What can Blake do to keep her and his family safe when the danger doesn’t seem to cease?
Complimentary copy. My own thoughts.
