Description

No one knows calories better than a fat girl. No one knows what she should or shouldn’t eat better than a fat girl. No one knows how to camouflage her body better than a fat girl.

And I ought to know. Because I was that girl.

I could have told you down to the gram the nutritional value of what I was eating, but why I was eating, that was a mystery. I was stuffed with shame but starved for love and acceptance. And until I found those two things within myself, I was doomed to live the self-destructive cycle of deprivation and self-sabotage over and over again.

Fat Girl is my story of how I lost that weight and gained the confidence to create a meaningful, happy life. It can be your story too.

Fat Girl will change the way you think about food, your body and yourself. Find healthier ways to nourish your mind and heart. And give yourself the rewarding life you yearn for. And deserve.

Marketing Plan

Author Bio: Susan Bodiker has been in love with advertising since she was a little girl, and to this day pays far more attention to ads and commercials than all the “Mad Men” and women combined. With 30 years’ experience as a copywriter, broadcast producer and account planner, she has developed branding, image and fund-raising campaigns for advocacy, association, health care, nonprofit, professional practice and retail clients and created print, broadcast and digital advertising, training materials and web content for a range of local and national marketers—from AARP to the YMCA.

A former fat girl herself, Susan is the founder of One Girl Wellness, a health-coaching consultancy dedicated to “raising stronger women one girl at a time.”

She is a graduate of Barnard College and received her health coach training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She lives in Washington, DC with two supremely assertive cats and one dog (who needs a little work on the confidence front). Fat Girl is her first book.

I loved the book and understand the problems put out by Susan. The book may not help you loose weight but it gives a much better gift then you deserve. It teaches you the art of accepting yourself the way you are. I love the way Susan has articulated her thoughts throughout the book and it may feel a bond with her.

As a Librarian, I am not really sure how to classify this book. Being only 40 pages, it doesn't fit into a library catalog, so to say. I thoroughly enjoyed Susan's story, however, it presented itself to me as a REALLY good lecture or Power Point presentation, rather than a book. Because Susan's story is so fascinating, and yes, relatable, I would encourage her to tell more of her story and make it more "library ready." In the meanwhile I will share Susan's story and encourage others to read it as well.
