Some women always get it right. Kindergarten teacher, Meg Thompson, on the other hand, consistently makes the wrong decisions — and she is currently single, pregnant and alone. Meg is determined to make changes in her life, to be a better mother than her own had been. No revolving door of men. No man, period. Just a single-minded focus on her baby. Her resolution would be easier to keep if not for hot cop, Scott Dare. He insinuates himself in her life, making Meg want to believe in happily ever after, even if history has taught her to know better.

When Scott Dare hears Meg’s friends are determined she have a night of hot sex, before her life changes forever, he decides that man must be him. Their one night is mind blowing and life altering. And Scott, a man already burned by his ex-wife, finds himself all in anyway. While protecting Meg from her violent ex and becoming part of her increasingly complicated life, he’s falling hard and he can’t seem to find distance. Not when their bodies respond to each other with such heated intensity and he’s drawn to her unique combination of strength and vulnerability.

Carly Phillips combines the perfect amount of heat, passion, drama and suspense in yet another daring adventure. I can’t pick which Dare brother I love most. Dominant, vulnerable and always loyal – Scott Dare lived up to every expectation I had.

Meg has the WORST luck ever in picking men. Ever since she fell in love with – and was then forced to move on from – Dylan Dare she’s only thrown herself at the bad boys who allow her to cling but who also suck up every single ounce of her generosity. Example numero uno: her baby daddy. OH, DID I FORGET TO TELL YOU – Meg’s pregnant. She’s single. She’s pregnant. and she’s determined to be ok on her own this time. She does not need a man. No, nope. She’s sure doesn’t.

Enter Scott Dare, the delicious specimen of a man who has his sights set of Meg. He knows that she’s pregnant and he could give a flying fuck. He looks into her eyes and connects. Scott and Meg are a force to be reckoned with. That passion that flies off these pages is totally Carly and purely HOT.

Scott says all the right things…until he doesn’t. Could I have wanted to kick him in the balls more? NO I COULD NOT HAVE. But of course, there are so many sweet and loving moments too where I think I swooned myself to death. GAH, so good.

There are plenty of Dare sibling cameos to satisfy your craving for what’s going on in that insanely huge and loving extended Dare family. And, most importantly, there are some amazing sex scenes that will have you needing a cold shower.

I can never get enough of Carly’s writing and I love that she always gives me a perfectly seasoned light and fun story that somehow she knows I crave. Love this one!

Meg has always chosen the wrong men to get involved with and her latest ex definitely makes the top of that list. Meg is pregnant and decides to change things up with men and go without. Then Scott comes into her life just when her friends are trying to talk her into having a one nighter. Scott is up for that and so much more. Meg is attracted to him, but doesn't want to make the same mistake by becoming dependent on him. So she holds back that part of herself. Scott is a delicious naughty talker who just wants to love and protect her. Especially from her beyond creepy dangerous ex who not only wants to hurt her, but also her baby. Meg is falling for this sexy sweet man. I just love her and Scott together. They share some seriously scorching moments together as well as some really sweet ones. I absolutely loved their story and I can't wait to read the next one in the series.

I give Dare to Hold 5 hearts!

Loved it! Scott is an alpha male with a dirty mouth who knows what he wants and goes after it - until his past gets in the way and threatens to ruin his relationship with Meg. Meg is not in the market for a relationship, but the attraction between her Scott is impossible to resist. It was great seeing both of them work through their issues and develop feelings for each other as the story progressed. Another great addition to the Dare series - can't wait for Avery's story!

-DARE TO HOLD is the sixth installment in Carly Phillips’ adult, contemporary Dare to Love romance series focusing on the Dare family siblings and half-siblings. This is police officer Scott Dare, and kindergarten teacher Meg Thompson’s storyline.

SOME BACKGROUND: Patriarch Robert Dare kept secret a second family from his first wife and children. Each storyline will focus on one of the Dare siblings; the relationship between the two families of adult children; and a father who is trying to amend for the sins of the past.

Told from alternating third person points of view, DARE TO HOLD follows the building relationship between Meg and Scott. Meg finds herself in a difficult position-single, pregnant, and an abusive ex bent on destroying her life and the child she now carries. Enter Scott Dare, an over protective, alpha male who will claim Meg as his own-but first he must stop the threat against Meg and her unborn child.

Meg has a habit of falling for the wrong type of men-bad boys with attitude and in this Meg believes she has stumbled back into the same pattern with the likes of Officer Scott Dare. Scott wants to prove to Meg that she is not the sum of her past but their one-night stand leads Meg to believe that old habits die hard. When Meg’s ex becomes more aggressive, Scott takes Meg under his protection, and in doing so, will begin to fall in love when it is the last thing he wants to do.

The likeable, engaging and colorful secondary and supporting characters include some of Meg’s fellow coworkers at school; Olivia and Dylan ( Dare to Touch 5) ): Ian and Riley (Dare to Love 1); Tyler Dare-the owner of Double Down Security, as well as a number of other Dare siblings. Meg’s ex Mike, as well as his long suffering parents Lydia and Walter play an important role in Meg’s future choices.

DARE TO HOLD is an intoxicating and enjoyable storyline; a building romance between two broken people whose past controls the present. There are moments of drama, heartbreak, seduction, romance and love resulting in a happily ever after for another Dare sibling and the woman he loves. Carly Phillips’s Dare to Love series is addicting – she will capture your imagination and your heart.

5 star

The story has laughs, suspense, pain, secrets, and heartbreak. I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well and I was kept interested.

If you have not already read the below I would recommend reading those books first:
Dare to Love (Dare to Love, #1)
Dare to Desire (Dare to Love #2)
Dare to Surrender (Dare to Love #3)
Dare to Submit (Dare to Love, #4)
Dare to Touch (Dare to Love #5)

This is Meg and Scott’s story. Meg is going to stay single and raise her baby. Scott has other ideas for Meg. When they agree to have one night together Scott is already trying to figure out how to get a second and third night from her. Can Scott change Meg’s mind? Can he prove to her that he was all she ever wanted? Scott has a lot of convincing to do to get Meg to change her mind. Add in the ex and his parents things just keep getting crazy. Can they work together to have a baby and make a relationship work?

I loved these characters and all the Dare family members. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book, this series and this author.

5 Stars!

I love this author. I discovered her a few months back when I found the first book in this series for free and I haven't looked back since. This series continues to get better and better with each book. This book is sweet, sexy, and has quite a few twists and turns along the way.

This is Scott and Meg's story. Meg is pregnant... and alone. Having no family or support system, she has a struggle ahead of her. She and Dylan were once friends and he was her support system but se cant rely on him anymore. In walks Scott Dare. He is sexy, hot, sweet, and tempts her with his sweet whispers. but Scott has his own demons that he needs to conquer before he can help Meg. On top of that, Meg's baby daddy is highly unsalable and a threat. As Scott and Meg spend more time together, they grow close. Is it possible to heal from old wounds and build a future together?

I loved Scott. He has his own hang ups sure but he was always honest with Meg. He told her he wanted her and stayed by her side. When he was noble towards the end it almost broke my heart but it was what he needed to do. I also liked Meg. I admired her strength and totally understood how she wanted to stand on her own two feet. I was rooting for these two. I mean you could feel the chemistry was pouring off of the page.

I highly recommend this book and series.

When the father of her unborn child proves to be one more in a string of bad choices in the man department, Meg Thompson decides that she's ready to do things on her own terms. Pregnant and alone, she's determined that she can take care of herself. Scott Dare has been burned in love. Having faced the ultimate betrayal at the hands of his ex-wife, he has no intention of falling for what he sees as the myth of happily ever after.

I am a long-time fan of Carly Phillips and her DARE series. Dare To Hold is the sixth book in the series, and, once again, Carly has another winner on her hands. I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Meg and Scott evolve. Meg realizes that tying herself to less-than-desirable men is a pattern for her, and is trying very hard to change. Scott, like all of the Dare men, is one heck of an alpha, and makes no bones about his desire to be with Meg. Having seen firsthand what she is dealing with with her ex, he is not about to let her handle things on her own. The dynamic between the two of them makes for some serious sparks and sizzle, and, in typical Carly fashion, more than a little uber-sexy time.

These books are always quick reads for me, for no other reason than that I cannot stop once I pick them up, and Dare To Hold is no exception. The plot moves quickly, and the presence of the entire Dare clan feels like visiting old friends. I am looking forward to getting Avery Dare's story in Dare To Rock, but in the meantime happily give Dare To Hold 5+ 'super-sexy, you really need a fan to read this' stars.

LOVED! LOVED! LOVED!

I was lucky enough to get an early review copy of Dare to Hold thanks to both the author and the blog tour company. Carly Phillips has been an auto-buy author for me since I read her very first book. Since she has switched over to indie publishing, I'm so excited I get multiple new books from her a year.

I loved Dare to Hold and was so excited to see Scott Dare find love. I'll admit I was worried how a dominating Dare man would handle having the hots for a pregnant single woman, but Scott and Meg had an instant attraction in Dare to Touch and I wanted them to end up together from the moment they met.

Meg has had such horrible luck with men, and had pretty much given up on having a man in her life. However her attraction to Scott Dare hasn't gone away from the first moment they saw each other. Meg and Scott had such amazing and intense chemistry from the very beginning. While Scott was extremely protective of Meg, the heat level for the love scenes in Dare to Hold are off the charts hot.

The fact that Scott is a Dare and has issues not only because of his father, but also his ex-wife worried me until he started opening up and talking to Meg about what had happened. I just knew that Scott could get past those issues if he was willing to talk them out. Meg's ex Mike doesn't make their lives easy either. With his threats against Meg and the baby, Scott's protective instincts go on high alert. I love the bit of suspense that was mixed in with all the super sexy times.

I also loved that Meg became friends with Scott's sisters. She really didn't seem like she had enough real friends in her life and Olivia and Riley were so accepting and open with her from the very beginning and I think that help round out Meg's character a bit more.

I know I say this with each and every Carly Phillips book, but Dare to Hold is my current favorite book in the sereis. I've already read it 3 times and it has only made me more excited for the next book in the series. Carly Phillips does a great job setting up the next couple in the series without taking any of the limelight away from the current couple. Dare to Rock is currently set to be released in July and I can't wait to get Avery's story.

Received in exchange for a honest review. So far of all the Dare men and stories Scott is the one I love the most. I love how kind and patient he is with Meg. Meg has some issues with feeling insecure and needy. She also tends to fall for the wrong guy and than get in binds. After her last one she is alone and pregnant but he still bothers her. Scott has a attraction to Meg even though she is in a tough situation. He finds her to be smart, funny and strong but she isn’t allowing him to get close like he wants. Problem for him is his ex damaged his heart. She ripped it out and tore it up poor guy so he is a wee bit commitment shy. Although Meg makes him want to have more. Here we see Scott wiggle his way into Meg’s life and heart. THe banter between them is fun and keeps you on your toes and smiling. He is protective, kind and sweet with her. Sometimes his protectiveness goes a tad bit too far but it is because he loves her that this happens. Meg has som issues with his ways only beause she is afraid of needing him and that he will find her to be clingy. She doesn’t want to lose him like she almost did her best friend who is married to Scott’s sister Olivia. These two together are sizzling on the page with their intimacy to bad they have a issue when it comes to how they feel for each other. Scott is trying to not scare Meg and does do something silly when he gets caught in a moment of a memory and this has Meg faulter and pull away. Scott realizes what he does and is trying to get her to see him differently. Her ex is making for a dangerous situation and how that is resolved is just wow. Scott shows how much he loves her there but she still is apprehensive. I hated seeing her make that decision in the end. So glad when she finally came to her senses though for these two sweet kind characters belong together. Scott helps her feel safe and stronger. She is more confident and self assured when he is in her life. Scott feels more secure and trusting with Meg. She has him feel loved and wanted. His ideals are met with Meg. At first he was fearful of losing everything and held back but when he went full throttle it was swoony. the man will have you swoon. I was so glad he got to feel validated when his brother asked him to be his partner in business. I think this helped Scott feel like he was worthy and belonged somewhere. He felt more grounded and Meg helped this feeling intensify. I enjoyed the intensity of the situations while still getting that feeling of light fun and good banter between Scott and Meg. They buoyed one another and helped the other shine. this is the story of two people who were burned by love in the past coming together to find love and acceptance with each other. The adventure of Meg and Scott is sexy, daring and at times dangerous as they deal with the murky waters of exes, lingering feelings of inadequacy and distrust and wondering if the other loves them. This adventure will have you smile at the easy fit and banter between Scott and Meg, the playfulness of their relationship and how they come together and swoon at times over Scott’s ways. You will want more from this sweet couple and hopefully in the next Dare book we will see how

Wonderful story!

Dare to Hold is the sixth book in Carly Phillips Dare to Love series, and this reader just can't get enough of this series and the Dare family. From the moment I picked up the first book in the series, I knew I would be hooked. Oh and let's just say...I was really excited to read Scott Dare''s and Meg Thompson's HEA. If you read the previous book you would've been introduced to Meg and Scott towards the end.
Meg is the female character who has had it rough from the beginning, due to the guys she has hooked up with in her past. She feels she'll never meet a nice guy. She's now pregnant with her ex-boyfriend's baby and she feels skeptical of what the future will hold with another man. She also wants to live her life without any help, and she'll do anything to prove it to her friends in her life. She'll even prove it to the one man who would do anything for her.
Scott Dare is what you call the gentleman of the Dare of the family. He's a police officer who has a heart of gold and doesn't like seeing anyone hurt. The minute he meets Meg, he wants to protect her from everything and anything out to get her…especially her crazy ex-boyfriend.
He knows she's pregnant and he knows it won't be easy, but he will do anything to prove to her, he's not like the other guys she's been with.
Be warned though, Scott is the alpha male in the story. He is very PROTECTIVE of who he cares for and he will resort to anything to help others. Yup….he will do anything, which means some drama comes into play other than Meg's ex-boyfriend drama. I adored Scott every bit in the story. Meg tended to drive me batty at times with her not wanting help. I could understand why she wanted to protect herself, but darn it Scott definitely is that white knight she definitely needed.
I could go on and on about how much I loved Scott in the story, but don't want to give away all of his qualities. =)
Readers that enjoy contemporary romance books that follow a family that definitely have their own drama, but deserve every bit of happiness…this is the series for you. Each book can be read as a standalone due to how Carly writes each book. You won't get lost at all. I definitely recommend though, reading in order. You'll loved to follow each and every one of the Dare family members on their road to HEA. There may be even another HEA in Dare to Hold that Carly mention, which I believe this person definitely deserves just as much as happiness as everyone else does.
I give this book 4 stars and look forward to reading the next book in the series when it release late this summer. If you haven't read this series yet, you'll definitely missing out.

Mary Jo – ☆☆☆☆
The Players: Meg Thompson, a kindergarten teacher who has a penchant for picking guys that she thinks she can change. Scott Dare, a police officer, with a baggage of his own.

The Story: Scott met Meg after her ex, and baby's father, beat her up. When he sees Meg out with friends being hit on by some random guy, he irks him. Meg is interested in Scott, but with her being pregnant she doesn't feel like it’s the right time to start a new relationship. But she didn't count on Scott's irresistible charms. Both Meg and Scott have demons to face before they can ever be happy but will Mike (the ex) and his threats push them together or pull them apart?

Part of a Series: Dare to Love Series

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the 6th book in the series, and a long awaited storyline for me! I would recommend that you read them in order, as there is a lot of back story which would influence your views of the lead characters in this story, but you could enjoy it fresh too I am sure.

Scott Dare feels that he has been betrayed all his life, first by his father and then his wife. Now divorced, he holds back from getting hurt again. Meg, the teacher, who is now pregnant by her violent ex has also sworn off commitment, and is planning on going it alone... We have met these two at joint events before, and know that they have chemistry, but is the timing ever going to be right? Well, Ms. Phillips finally gives the reader a story that is well worth the wait. It is not terribly angst laden, but it is full of passion, and hope. Great read, and now I need my next Dare fix – handy there are so many of them that we are guaranteed a few more stories yet!

Dare to Hold (Dare to Love, #6)In Dare to Hold Carly Phillips takes us into the lives of Meg and Scott. If you've been following the series then you know Meg is Dylan's best friend or used to be anyway up until he fell head over heels with Olivia. Since, Meg has become close friends with Olivia and now probably hangs out with her more than she ever did with Dylan.

Meg is in a difficult situation. She's pregnant and her ex is nuts as in crazy. He wants her to have an abortion but she wants to keep the baby. Her ex is afraid that his parents will disown him and make Megan's baby their heir.

Meg always falls for the wrong men and now that she's pregnant with her worst nightmare baby she's determined to right all the wrongs in her life. When Scott, Olivia's brother, decides to step in and help she hesitates. He's handsome and not a man like the ones she's used to dealing with. She accepts his help because it's not like she can get rid of him. Scott is there whether she likes it or not and there isn't much she can do about it to make him go away.

Soon her fears become a reality. She starts falling for him but she knows Scott is just a temporary person in her life. He isn't signing up for marriage, daddy, or diaper duty. Or so she thinks, until he makes it clear that her pregnancy doesn't bother him in the least and what she thought was a fling becomes a permanent fixture in her life.

Carly Phillips's unique style shines again in this installment. She gives you a little bit of everything. Hot sex, a hot hero, and a lot of conflict. What's not to like?
