Dangerous Kiss

This was my first book by Avery Flynn and I loved it! Claire was a strong character and Jake was a hottie...together they were on fire. This book had just about everything in it...a little mystery, strong characters and great love scenes. I will definitely be reading more in this series and more by Ms. Flynn. Can't wait for book two...there is a great lead in to it at the end of this book.

Dangerous Kiss is the first novel in The Laytons by Avery Flynn and was earlier released under two other titles, Up a Dry Creek and Temptation Creek. This is a romantic suspense story about a restaurateur, Claire Layton, who discovers a dead body in her dumpster and a private investigator, Jake Warrick, tasked to look into the murder. There's a lot of sexual tension and heat between Claire and Jake from the onset and with these two being quite stubborn, they seem to be perfect for each other. Things do progress rather quickly, but I guess with everything going on around them, they clung to one another even more.

Jake and Claire had definite chemistry and I liked that they were able to push one another and not simply abide by the other's wishes. Claire is a strong heroine and stood up to Jake AND all three of her very protective brothers. Jake is a take charge kind of guy so that even when he gives Claire the space she needs, he can't help but still make his presence felt, refusing to abandon her in her time of need. With the addition of their respective intrusive but well-meaning families and friends, the cast of characters is funny and memorable and you can't help but look forward to reading more about them in throughout the series.

I enjoyed the suspense thriller aspect of the story and there while I was right in guessing who was involved in the victim's murder, there were still a couple of surprises that I didn't see coming. With a fast-paced story and likable characters set in the quirky town of Dry Creek, Nebraska, Dangerous Kiss held my attention from start to finish, and has me curious about the rest of the books in the series. My hope, of course, is that Claire's three hot brothers get their stories told because of their very different personalities. This was a good start to what looks like an exciting romantic suspense series. Four stars! ♥

Very entertaining book with a gorgeous, sexy, Alpha man, Jake Warrick. This book has it all, mystery, suspense, humor and best of all, crazy family members. The chemistry between Jake and Claire was smoldering from the moment they met. The Mystery of the dead girl played out in a very well-written story line. There was always something going on. And the ending? Brilliant! At first it scared me but after I finish the last page I couldn't stop laughing. Totally not what I was expecting. Fantastic ending! I can't wait to read the next book in the Dangerous Love series.

I have yet to find a avery flynn book that I have found delicious and this is no exception. Claire is stubborn, determined and loves her family fiercely. So much that she puts everything on the line to keep them protected from the killer of the girl in her dumpster. That is until the just as stubborn and headstrong Jake comes into the picture.

Through some fun but dangerous misadventures where Claire acts before she thinks and Jake forgetting he is on a job and not just there to draw Claire into his bed and arms we have a adventurous steamy hot book of intrigue and twists and turns.

Each character is relatable and fun. Especially her brother Chris and her mom. She is a hoot. Her desire to have her kids married with kids and being a busybody you have laughs to help with the seriousness of the mystery and why the flash drive and phone are so important. When it finally comes out its a wow.

Her brother hank and her other brothers with their protectiveness is sweet and Hank being the sheriff adds a new element to it all. Her brashness with his irresistable charm and honesty with his desire to protect her make Claire and Jake one fun sexy couple.

The plot is ever evolving and the twists and turns keep you intrigued as you watch the mystery unfold as these two come together. And when they come together it is truly a sight a toasty sight to boot.

This is the story of Claire and Jake. The danger they faced and the attraction they have.

Good start to the series! Claire was feisty and independent - this is great to read. Jake was super hot and alpha, charming and protective, but confident enough to let her do her own things. Interesting mystery aspect - the author seemed to really take a lot of time to lay out the plot, and clearly enjoyed her twists and turns. Usually the "mystery" comes second to the romance in this category, so that was a fun change. Fast plot, great love scenes - I'm looking forward to the next. PS nice cliffhanger! haha

This story has Intense characters involved in a thrilling situation. I could hardly put this one down. I especially loved the sexy part of the story. I was kept on the edge of my seat and ready for anything. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in Ms.. Flynn's Layton series.

I loved Dangerous Kiss by Avery Flynn! Claire and Jake were hot hot hot. On top of that, the author does an amazing job weaving a mystery that kept me guessing until the end. I couldn't put it down! The suspense kept me turning page after page. I can't wait to read the next Laytons book.
