Description
Enola Holmes—international bestselling and Netflix streaming sensation—returns when the rescue of a young woman sends her into battle with her brother Sherlock against his most deadly, implacable enemy - Professor Moriarty.
In February 1891, London, Enola Holmes—the much younger sister of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes—is attending a burial when she hears the faint sound of a handbell in the graveyard. It is not in Enola’s nature to ignore such oddities, no matter the occasion and when she investigates further, as is the Holmes' family instinct, she discovers something absolutely chilling. The ringing bell is attached to the tombstone erected over a recent gravesite and someone, buried within, is pulling the string to ring the alarm.
Galvanized into action, Enola and her companions swiftly and successfully unearth the coffin within, freeing a still-living young woman, one Trevina Trairom. Enola, by predilection and by trade a Scientific Perditorian, a finder of lost things, finds herself comforting and protecting this young girl. The girl herself is a mystery – she remembers very little, including her identity, and has no idea who has buried her alive, much less why. While protecting this mysterious girl from an enigmatic enemy, she discovers that Sherlock is engaged in a related mystery. Enola joins Sherlock in his battle against the scourge of London, the Napoleon of Crime himself, Professor Moriarty. Facing her most brutal foe ever, determined to protect and unravel the secrets surrounding the mysterious Trevina, Enola takes her place more fully than ever as a proud member of the Holmes family.

I genuinely could not have enjoyed this more.
I love the Holmes-y-ness of it, I love the intracacies in how transportation is described and the fussy sartorial details, I love the main character's support network, and I love that Enola finally understands she isn't alone.
Thanks so much to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and Nancy Springer for sharing this ARC with me, in exchange for my honest review.
I love the ride that Ms. Nancy is taking us on, with Enola discovering who she is and her place in the Holmes family. Ms. Nancy has and continues to build Enola's world perfectly. Her character building and integrating is fantastic. Bringing Sherlock and Enola together the way she has and continues to do is unmatched. As with the previous books, I was hooked from the very first paragraph. The flow is fast-paced, but in a good way. The series isn't getting boring at all, I need and want more LOL.
If y'all love Sherlock Holmes, then y'all are going to love this book. I recommend getting a copy of this book, y'all won't regret it.

A new Enola Holmes is revealed in this thrilling adventure. She is now recognized for her daring accomplishments by an unexpected resource. Enola and her brother Sherlock were being pitted against Sherlock’s archenemy Professor James Moriarty in a fight for life or death. A very intriguing tale that had moments of sheer panic.

Enola Holmes is the younger sister of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes, and inhabits the same world they do, London in the 1890s. At that time, smart and outspoken women and girls are not cherished, and that sets up the main plot of “Enola Holmes and the Clanging Coffin.” Enola unravels a complex puzzle, beating evil master criminals with the help of her wide circle of friends and acquaintances. it's a fun, fast read -- thoroughly enjoyable.
This is the 10th book in the series, but I believe a reader could start with this one — and want to go back and read the rest.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

I loved reading Enola Holmes and the Clanging Coffin by Nancy Springer. When a distant handbell draws Enola to a gravesite, she discovers a young woman, who can't remember anything, buried alive. Enola immediately wants to protect her and investigate, soon realizing that Sherlock has a related case.
Nancy Springer describes the setting wonderfully with an exciting and fast-paced mystery. Enola’s intelligence and constant courage shine as she balances clever deductions with heartfelt moments of loyalty. The sibling narrative with Sherlock and the looming threat of Moriarty create a compelling story that keeps every chapter interesting. By standing with Sherlock against their enemy, Enola confidently embraces her role in the Holmes family in this novel.
Enola Holmes and the Clanging Coffin delivers a satisfying mix of suspense, humour, and heart. The storytelling is great and Enola’s unbreakable spirit makes this tenth book a must-read for longtime fans and anyone who loves a smart, determined, and brave heroine.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the availability of the eARC in exchange for an honest review

ENOLA HOLMES AND THE CLANGING COFFIN by Nancy Springer
Enola Holmes, intrepid, intelligent, and compassionate, mourning at the grave of a dear friend, still has it in her to care about another’s misery, initiate a rescue, and resolve to get to the bottom of the buried woman’s mystery. Despite gentle warnings from her brother and friends, and not-so-gentle threats from brutish thugs, she persists toward truth, standing up to evil as the only way to real safety.
Puzzles and suspense are further enriched by details of clothing, carriages, trains, and social mores — never to go out without a hat is only one of the many rules Enola violates. Clever tricks of disguise, including trading new clothes for old and plain, and assistance from loyal allies, including Florence Nightingale, are inspiring aspects of her capable efforts.
I read this quickly, just couldn’t help myself, and already have re-read the beginning for enjoyment and insights. I don’t want to leave Enola’s world, and I’ll be happy to return again.
*Comes out Feb.10, so there’s time to read earlier books should you wish.
I have loved every Enola Holmes book I’ve read so far and The Clanging Coffin was no exception. It was a fun, quick mystery that kept me on my toes! I love Enola’s interactions with her brothers, those scenes are always a highlight for me.
Nancy Springer made my heart sing with this new volume in the Enola Holmes series!
Enola is making her way, making peace with her crazy upbringing, and has settled into her role as a sleuth, a volunteer, and an independent young woman, when a chance encounter at a graveside turns her world upside down. Springer ties in the well-documented travails of Sherlock versus Moriarty as Enola wages battles of wits with her own batch of villainous foes.
Will this be Enola's own Final Problem? I'm anxious to see if Springer will continue to pen more Enola adventures, the way Laurie R King took on the Mary Russell series, or if this is the final book. If the latter, it's a glorious sendoff, and if the former, I cannot wait to see what Enola gets up to in the future.
Enola Holmes and the Clanging Coffin by Nancy Springer was so much fun to read! By the time I finished reading the prologue and chapter one, I was thoroughly captivated, utterly hooked, and each subsequent chapter never lost my anticipation and enthusiasm to see what would happen next! Literally, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough!
Enola Holmes is seventeen years old, young sister to her famous brothers Sherlock and Mycroft. She is an intelligent young woman, full of charm, wit, and humor, while also having an uncanny similarity to that of Sherlock’s in that she can deduce things from clues discovered. Her specialty? By trade she is a perditorian, a finder of lost things.
However, she’s about to find something she has never found before. A body of someone that has been recently buried underground in a coffin. From somewhere (presumably from the buried underground coffin) a mysterious bell sound rings!
What in the world?? And so from this time on, the complex mystery surrounding this event, will result in life or death consequences spreading to Enola, her family, and her friends.
I found this book an absolutely engaging and fun read! Nancy Springer is a master at crafting interesting and colorful characters - even animals that have a small supporting role! The story itself has many intriguing layers.

Enola Holmes is such a compelling character, and it's so much fun to revisit the Sherlock Holmes megaverse with his sister at the helm. I love the way Nancy Springer captures her voice and mannerisms, keeping consistent details between books in the series. This was a fun mystery with a chance for teens to learn more about the era when there was a real fear of people being buried alive (thus the need for a clanging coffin).
I loved seeing a return to use of anagrams, a revisiting of not only Sherlock but also the lesser known brother Mycroft, and the famous nemesis from the original Sir Arthur Conan Doyle books.
I thought some of the detail went on a bit long in the end, but I really enjoyed the ladies in this book and their camaraderie.
I highly recommend the newest Enola Holmes book for anyone who enjoys cozy mysteries, Sherlock Holmes, and of course, Enola Holmes!
