After sending some sexy pictures of herself to the wrong guy, Valerie is subjected to bullying in school and online. Just when things start to simmer down, Valerie undergoes a brutal attack and attempted murder. As if that isn't enough, the attacker takes pictures of her that start to circulate throughout her school. After finding out that her attacker has done this before, Valerie refuses to be a victim and decides to stop this madman before he strikes again. Now Valerie finds herself caught in a game of cat and mouse with a killer who is determined to get the one he let slip away.
This book was tough to read but it is a well written and good story. It will definitely elicit a wide range of emotions from the reader. You will truly empathize with Valerie, who doesn’t catch a break anywhere in this story. Valerie deals with cyber bullying, being tormented in school, and then a vicious attack but she still finds the strength to not only continue everyday but to try and track down her attacker. Valerie’s mom, her friend Cookie, and the rape counselor all contributed to the strong dynamic of the story.

This book was a great surprise! The heroine was likable and the mystery kept me interested until the end. I loved the mystery mashed up with the social media element. Yet, the seriousness of the premise was not belittled. Thank you!

Valerie is raped and almost murdered over spring break. She returns to school only to be harassed by many of her classmates while trying to resume some sense of normalcy. Then Valerie starts receiving social media messages from girls with inactive accounts. Is she just paranoid? Who is trying to contact her?
Part realistic portrayal of a girl's recovery from a traumatic rape, part mystery thriller, 52 Likes grew on me more and more as I continued reading. Definitely a good choice for reluctant readers.

Very dark, gripping writing. Gut-wrenching and kept me fascinated until the very last drop.
52 Likes is a book I couldn't put down till I finished. I loved it and I highly recommend it to everyone.

52 Likes has a hell of an opening, throwing you straight into the brutal rape of protagonist Valerie. If you can get through it, though, you'll find a compelling YA mystery that cleverly blends the technological and the supernatural.
