Description
As a rule, men don’t grow up believing in a happily ever after. We don’t believe in meeting the love of our lives or the white picket fence, and 2.5 children. Every man thinks that those stupid dreams or fantasies are just nonexistent shit until it happens to them. We should have been forewarned.
I wish I was prepared for someone to appear in my life and change all my priorities. I suddenly wanted that fence and children. The part of meeting the love of my life became very real, but I wasn’t ready for suddenly losing it all, and my life plummeting into this shithole forever.
The heartbreak of losing your soulmate is one of the worst pains you will ever live with. I should campaign and warn the young people. Vaccinate against love because if you lose it, you could lose yourself for the rest of your life. The burden on your back will forever mark you and wither away your soul, darkening your days and the rest of your natural life.
This isn’t false advertisement or a dramatic display of one bitter soul.
Pria
I fought by my mother's side until her last breath, and tried to help my father until his last memories dissipated. My sister is the last one standing, but her life is a miracle that can end at any given moment. All my life I’ve never been alone, but always felt lonely.
Today, my options on how to live my life are endless, yet my heart and my best friend limit them. Stay in Seattle, close to the one person that will never let me inside his world.
The thug, as mom would've called him. A man with a bad boy attitude and a heart bigger than the ocean.

Uncharted, Claudia Burgoa Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre: New Adult, Romance When I started reading this I was soo disappointed – the characters were just 17 and 18....and I was expecting them to be in their early twenties at least. I’ve read a few with teens as leads but it’s rare they work for me, just seem too exaggerated and this started this way, with storm in a teacup dramas and Jacob’s chat-ups being really juvenile seeming. I hate too the way their parents were introduced – the “we’ve got two dads” bit and then a couple of pages later ( I was still only at 4%!) in a conversation with his brother, Jacob quotes his dad Chris saying something like “ I can’t get my husband to stop playing the Beatles” when talking to one of the triplets. When I talk about my husband to my kids I’ll call him Dad or by his name, but somehow it always seems that if people are GLBTQIA they have to get called Husband or Wife on every possible occasion. It just seems odd to me, not realistic but maybe that’s me out of step – who knows? Anyway that was it – the first third annoyed me, I almost gave up but thankfully didn’t as there was then a gap of a few years before we followed them again and that part covered several years during which much happened to both Jacob and Pria. Drama after Drama after Drama, and I do love those. Really tragic plots!! Nora, she was a great introduction – I do love someone to dislike and I was wary of her right from the first. Poor Jacob was ripe for the taking and he fell in neatly to her plans, and her effect on him lasted so long. I did feel that what happened in the beginning to separate Jacob and Pria was a bit thin, I could see exactly how it happened and that was real, but the way Jacob bore grudges years later when it was really his fault they lost contact seemed irritating. Still, that was needed, I just felt it could have been done a bit better, seemed unfair to Pria. I really liked the way so much was kept back and came out later in the story, so that just when i though that line wrapped up there was even more revealed...the last third was excellent, and really a five star read for me. Shame about the beginning...
Along with the issues I’ve mentioned I also felt things like Pria sister’s illness wasn’t very well done, she’s at death’s door when we first meet her and then after having told us she’s a record survivor at 26, we see her ten years on living a very different life, freer but there’s no operation, no medical breakthrough explanation given and it just invalidates all the sacrifice Pria made before. You can’t just mess about with CF, it isn’t a condition that gets better, and given she was in hospital with poor lung function when we first met her I just needed some kind of reference as to why things had changed. A transplant, a new medicine, something like that. Overall though, having dragged myself through the first third I’m glad I continued. The dramas were first rate for me, I love all that angst and the way it lasted – not one of those reads where its tears and heartbreak and then two pages later all over...I need to wallow and this book let me. It didn’t really matter to me that some of it was exaggerated, there was enough substance to justify what happened. The incident with Jacob and the police for example, towards the end. Could have been left out, but fitted in well, and provided another angst fix for me. I hadn’t read the first two books, and I think that would have helped. When I looked this up I assumed the stories were connected via family, but each would be a separate read, and this is true to a degree but there’s so much from earlier brought in this book that it would help to read the first two. Stars: hmnn, hard to rate. I really didn’t like the first third but loved the third, and enjoyed very much the middle. A Four I think. ARC supplied by Netgalley and publishers

Another WOW! book. Loved it, cried through it, laughed during it, and just couldn't put it down. Now I suffer from "book-hangover" with tears running down my face. But I do have to say "I knew it"...I knew that epilogue was going to happen and I'm so glad it did. Can't wait for "Uncut".

"Life is about how you look at it, how you fell, and your attitude toward it."
That's us: our love an our life. Simple. Nothing complicated. If it's meant to happen it'll flow, like the sound of the music through the wind. We’ve already had too much drama to last us a lifetime."
" Since the first time I laid eyes on you, our souls entwined with each other. They interweaved together like the roots of a redwood tree's grasp onto the ground."
" I believe every person has a soulmate." My fathers say that when you find that person that makes you want to become a better version of yourself, you've found your other half."
“One moment, my life was under control and the next, boom.” I clap my hands and stretch them out while simulating the magnitude of the explosion that destroyed perfection.
"That day my heart recognized its lifetime partner, and from that point forward, it tuned to the rhythm of your beat."
"Listen, it's working again, but only because you're around. Even though we had to walk alone for the past several years, and learn our hard lessons from the hardships of life, I believe it's time for us to hold on to each other again. Build together a future based on our dreams, start a new life where our eternal love can run free and outlast the end of times,as it's written in the stars."
I immensely loved it!!! This is the first novel I have read by Claudia Burgoa.
Uncharted is an exceptionally written story with the right elements that will take you to the heights of finding your soulmate and having them ripped apart from you.
The setting of the novel begins at UW where MJ an JC are seniors. This is where Jace and Pria's (Twinkle) story begins at the campus bookstore. The Universe brings them together only to tear them apart. Perhaps the Universe had a different stratagem for both of them before it decides to intervene? Is there hope for Jace and Pria? Do first loves or true soulmates every find there way back and able to stand the test of time after so many years apart?
Sometimes without knowing our own promises made to others in life keep us bounded to a non-existent entity and unable to move on. We end up living in misery when in reality Life is about the choices we make and how we handle and respond to the outcome.
We either make the best of it and live life to the fullest or live a miserable stubborn existence.
I thought for sure their paths would cross at certain points in the story. No matter how hard they tried to find each other something always kept them apart.
I fell in love with Jace's and Pria's story. The growth and development of the relationship between Jace and Pria is outstanding. The trials, errors, compromises and sacrifices they both encounter. Jace and Pria have this picture-perfect of how a relationship should be, but every relationship is work. Through it all we have to make the final decision and make choices in life.
Author’s writing skills are powerful. She is able to lure you in slowly and seize you page after page. So many gripping twist in the plot. An extensive well written novel. Characters are perfectly written throughout the story
Without reservation, I wholeheartedly recommend this book..
(After I finished reading this novel went to Amazon and purchased the whole series.)

Uncharted is full of angst and put me through the wringer for almost the entire read. I am emotionally exhausted from all the highs and lows of Jacob Decker's life.
First of all, I should really learned my lesson for not reading the series according to sequence. Please be warned that you will be lose with the entire Decker Family dynamic, the key characters names/alias and their relationships. I think I spent a quarter of the book trying to figure out who is who.
I was fooled in the beginning of the story when I met the sweet guy, Jacob Decker, who is full of dreams and aspiration. He met Pria and was smitten with her on first sight. I even swooned over his horrible pick up lines.
"It's written in the stars. You and I are it. Destined to be together - forever."
They have a wonderful whirlwind romance for a week before a series of unfortunate events torn them apart. What follow next is a never ending load of angst that drove me cuckoo.
Ten years later, when fate allow Pria and Jacob's path cross again they are no longer who they used to be. There is nothing left of the sweet boy that Pria fell in love with. Cue more angst to commence when Jacob is dealing with shitload of anger, bitterness, guilt, resentment and loss in his life.
"I met her back when we both had dreams and believed we could take on the world, and now we both are a couple of ghosts floating with no direction."
I had to give it to Claudia Burgoa for crafting such a three dimensional and thought provoking story even though I'm so mad with so many things. I felt that Jacob's issue that causes all these angst was drag on for too long. I would definitely appreciate if it get settle much earlier. There is a moment that I was worried the HEA is not worth all the heartache I went through, but surprisingly it did. Thank God for that. I will definitely be reading the next book because well... I need to see more of their future after being tortured through their whole story.
Recommended for those who enjoy a healthy dose of angst and don't mind that 'reality hurts'.
"I only need one more chance,
Let me love you until the end of time."
To be cross post on Amazon and my blog on later date

By the time I finished reading the book, I felt myself flooded by mixed emotions. It felt like Jacob entered his own personal brand of hell and stayed there for more years than he should have. The guilt and all those promises that were made were weighing him down and the abuse he was putting his mind, heart, and body through was almost like a self-flagellation of sorts. After everything Jacob went through, I couldn't help but ask myself, "All that for what? Was it even worth it?" And, at the end of the day, I guess you could say that true love is worth the pain and sacrifice and if two people are really meant to be together, then that very same true love will find a way. It may be sappy but if you truly believe then that's all that matters.
My curiosity is definitely piqued with as far Matthew's upcoming story is concerned, mainly because of who captured his attention, and vice-versa, in this third book. I was wracking my brain, trying to recall if there was any mention of his preferences when it came to people he dated. I think I know who he's going to be partnered with in the next book, but even if I'm wrong, I'm too addicted to the Unexpected series and will be devouring each book that comes out. While I am recommending Uncharted, I would like to suggest that you read the series in order because it does make for a better reading experience and explains a lot of what goes on here with the always entertaining Colthurst-Decker family. This gets five out of five stars. ♥

I cried for Jacob throughout this book. He will have you feel so so much. What he goes through and how his journey into living again is just so so amazing and heartfelt and will really just tug at you.
Jacob starts out as this sweet precious wonderful boy who has dreams and is wide eyed. He falls in love with a wonderful girl who has dreams but also feels like he does and that he is shadowed by others. They have this beautiful week together and after that they both in their own ways fall apart. Jacob tries to find her and has a crushing experience that buries him in guilt and has him wanting to walk away from everything and everyone. His family is why he stays with us. So bone crushingly sad is Jacob that you truly feel his pain.
The writing of Jacob’s pain is so real and heartfelt. You feel what he feels and live in the moments with him. I truly believe he never comes out until Pria comes back. And even than he has guilt and pain because of a promise he made a lifetime ago when he was a teenager trying to survive and for him it really was him trying to survive.
Jacob struggles with himself and his choices. Pria is what helps him come back and his family is so amazing and wonderful throughout. His brother is a goofball but a sweet goofball. AJ just as snarky and pushy and Mason is the protector. All hope that Jacob comes back and it is Pria who helps bring him alive again.
He starts to dream and write but still struggles with guilt and trying to keep himself loyal. When you read the promises he made your heart will shatter for this man who in so many ways is just a lost boy looking for someone to put him back together.
This is the amazing, emotionally powerful journey of Jacob and Pria but mainly Jacob. Of how they found each other and when fate steps in to have them walk different paths what happens to them. In a way each loses their dreams and become something else. The story of how once again fate intervenes and brings them together to help each other heal and how they become each others souls again. How together they are an amazing force that brings life and love to the other but they still need to walk alone before they can be together. They need to find themselves and their strength before they can be together again. It is the heartfelt and beautiful story of their love and how it saves them from themselves and saves their dreams and keeps hope alive. The book will draw you into this beautifully sad and romantic world that is jacob and pria and captivate you and your heart until the very end. Miss Burgoa has the power in her words to draw you into the book but it is her stories and the beauty of them that keep you reading and wanting more. They emotionally invest you into the characters and never let you go. You will cry, laugh, smile and experience the gamut of emotions as you hope these two truly heal and come together.

I feel like I just walked out of a movie theater and still reeling from an amazing story. This family felt so real. They had real issues and live life so simply for the celebrities they are. The triplets are very grounded. The story started and ended in a span of 10 years. Jacob's and Pria's life together was written in the stars. The problems they faced were simple but complicated by circumstance. At times, many times, my heart broke for them and other times I couldn't of been happier. The character growth was perfect and the author did a great job at smoothing out a ten-year timeline.
This book and series is a MUST read. This is book 3 in the Unexpected series. Claudia Burgoa tells an amazing story and I can't wait to read more.
I was not compensated for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed is my own.

Uncharted is the third book in the Unexpected series and is Jacob and Pria's story.
Jacob and Pria met in college and had a whirlwind, week long, romance before fate tore them apart. Ten years later they meet again but they are now very different people, both having gone through difficult and life altering times. This enjoyable second chance romance is very emotional and is so well written that the pain that the characters go through radiates off of the page; It excellently portrays the devastating effect of losing your soul mate. You will be routing for Pria and Jacob's HEA from the start and be hooked on their journey as they rediscover their love and battle their demons. This is the first book that I have read by Claudia Burgoa and I will definitely go back and read the rest of the Unexpected series from the beginning.
Uncharted can be read as a stand-alone, but to better understand the family dynamic and the characters, I would recommend reading the whole series in order.

I always knew Jacob Decker was going to surprise me and this book proved me right! You think you know what to expect and all of a sudden all characters are surprising you left and right! I wasn't expecting this story to be as angsty as it was, but it totally worked out for the best.
Jacob surprised me a number of times. I was taken aback at how quickly he declared Pria was his soulmate. I don't blame her for thinking he was nuts and needed help. I do like that he was persistent though with her. I loved Pria. That girl had so much on her plate. I hate how much she wanted to be loved and noticed and how easily she packed in her future to help those at home, even if I understand why she did it.
I really enjoyed Jacob and Pria together. They really were made for each other. I loved how when they were together they were able to block everything else out. It hurt so much to watch them separate and go through everything they did. I kept hoping things would work out, but life had its own plan. By the time the two of them were face to face again, they'd each changed almost beyond recognition.
The story flowed really well. It was quick, easy to follow, and well written. I liked how the chapters alternated in point of view. There were a few questions I had while reading that weren't answered. I really felt like Jacob, Pria, and I would've felt better if the closure on their past was complete. I enjoyed seeing A.J., Mason, Gabe, Chris, and others again. I also liked Pria's relationship with her sister. I really liked how they supported one another. While I hope Matthew's book is next, I hope to see more of Pria and Jacob in the next book and hopefully get the answers I'd like.

Life isn't always sunny and fate can be unkind at times. Ms. Burgoa makes that vividly clear in this latest installment in her Unexpected series that puts not only her characters through the emotional wringer, but readers too. From start to finish readers will be caught up in the tumultuous connection between JC and Pria and their rocky road to HEA.
Life was once perfect for JC. In college he was seen as the Golden Boy, women wanted him and men wanted to be him. His future looked bright and everything seemed possible with him being charming and carefree. After a whirlwind romance with Pria that had him never wanting it to end and swearing they'd meet again fate took him on a path of bad decisions, loss, and grief that's changed him. JC's now tarnished and bitter with alcohol his crutch. He'll need Pria more than ever but theirs is a relationship that's rocky, full of poor communication, that continually puts their HEA in doubt. To find his HEA JC will finally have to put his past in the past instead of dwelling on it and letting it define him.
Pria has always put family first as the loyal and good daughter. With a domineering mother and ill sister she's always done what they've needed of her but putting herself first for one week gives her a lifetime of romantic memories courtesy of the sexy and playful JC. Though they swore to see each other again something always kept them apart as the years passed and she had her own pain and loss to deal with. Instead of letting it pull her under she rose above it with strength and bravery and when fate reintroduces her to the broken JC readers are left hoping she can save him too. Pria's an admirable heroine you can't help but like. She's supportive but not afraid to speak her mind and to truly heal that's just what JC needs.
Just like the previous books in this series, this installment takes readers on an emotionally draining journey to HEA full of ups and downs. JC and Pria have a deep connection but couldn't be more different in how they dealt with those ups and downs. For Pria, it just made her stronger and more determined. JC let it pull him under and left him battered and bruised as witnessed through the glimpses we saw throughout the previous books. He's riddled with angst that went on far longer than I'd hoped. Some of it was due to his own machinations which further frustrated me but still left me drawn to him. Their connection crackled from the moment they met and despite their time apart they were still destined to be together. Alongside these two strong protagonists are an equally strong cast of secondary characters that have become like family. Seeing Ainsley, Ten, and Mattie again was like coming home. Seeing their interactions and strong bond was heartwarming and is why these books need to be read in order. Seeing their familial bond that helped them through everything life threw at them adds to the atmospheric feel of this story. Readers who enjoy romances full of substance will be drawn to this story and looking forward to Mattie's story being told.

"A sublime and blissful hell of grief and guilt."
Claudia Burgoa hit this one out of the park, it's amazing. It was the cover that caught my attention. Being a music lover I can't resist a guitar on the cover, it's like a clearance sign at Target, drawing my attention. I didn't go all the way back to the first book, I started with Unsurprisingly Complicated, Mason and Nine's story. I knew from reading that book that JC had a broken heart, but I had no idea what had happened. I just knew that he was sad and lonely. I was very excited to finally read his story and get the history of his heartache. The author took me on a journey, stretching my heart, making room to include even more colorful characters. She captured my attention, squeezed my emotions, provoked my frustration, and increased my anxiety as I anticipated the worst and hoped for the best. I totally fell in love with young JC, the inexperienced, awkward, teenager with the poet's heart and the big dreams. He touched me deeply with his lyrics, his tender heart, his intentions and promises. Reading this story in alternating POV's placed me in the heads of Jason & Pria and it was a beautiful and sometimes painful process. I have the worst book hangover ever, I have literally been up all night long, I could not stop reading this heart wrenching, thought provoking story. There were surprises and twists and turns that I was not expecting. It was so much more than I hoped for, and it will stay with me for a while. Isn't that the best kind of book? The ones that keep running through your mind and you can't turn it off? I guess I should have paid more attention to the name of the series, cuz it really was Unexpected.

Having met Pria early on while in college, Jacob has been struck by the "Love thunderbolt" and barely survived it. He is a player. Used to living free of encumbrances and only for his music, Pria leaves a mark that will haunt him for years.
Maybe the timing was just wrong, but both Pria and Jacob forged a connection neither one can deny. Separated by circumstances beyond their control, when they find they must work together years later, their connection becomes both a pleasure and a hindrance they both must fight. The "bad boy rocker" crass persona that follows Jacob is further from the truth. Yes, he has lost himself in meaningless encounters, but he almost lost his life pursuing the girl he fell for. He is a man deeply hurt after losing THE girl, his ONE and ONLY. Finding her again only hurts more, as he finally realizes she has secrets he never even new existed.
Written in a thoughtful, passionate and gripping style, this story will haunt you. This entire series focuses on family, values, and acceptance. These a passionate people who must find their niche in life with their proper partners. Social mores be damned! Love will not be denied.

Thanks to the author for a copy to read and review.
This book was beautifully done. Laughter mixed with tragedy so deep it hurts. There is a lot of pain in this book but it had such a poignant ending that I'd read it all over again. First loves are especially hard to get over but if it's meant to be then love will come around again. Pria and Jacob meet in college and feel a connection but after Pria is forced to leave they lose communication. Jacob's life takes a turn for the worst and life just seems to get in the way. Years later they reconnect and it's just beautifully done. I have no words. Five stars.

Music and book lovers will enjoy this book. I loved every second of it.
