Description
The Book of Kindness by Egor Klopenko is a heartfelt selection of poetic stories for young children, using vivid imagery and simple language to introduce themes of compassion and generosity. Through memorable scenes and characters—like the magical imaginary birds called “kindwings” fluttering around town spreading kindness, and the little girl, whose seeds of kindness turn into a flower—Klopenko helps young readers understand empathy in a relatable way. The book emphasizes family dynamics, presenting universal figures such as “Mommy,” “Daddy,” and “the little girl” or “the little boy” to ensure any child can see themselves reflected in the stories. A key strength is Klopenko’s ability to connect shared themes across different tales. This subtle storytelling approach helps young readers build cognitive skills by recognizing how similar values appear in different contexts. Thoughtful, universal, and filled with warmth, The Book of Kindness offers more than just heartwarming tales; it fosters early learning, empathy, and a growing understanding of kindness in the world around them.
– Chloe Faith Robinson, Literary Editor.
This book of kindness is so lovely! I really enjoyed reading it! I think children and especially adults could learn a lot from reading it. Kindness is something that we don’t have a lot of in the world and this could definitely remind people of that and make them want to be kind and teach their children and friends to be kind. This is an amazing collection of short stories for families! I would recommend this to all of my peers!»
– Brooke Auckerman, Literary critic.
Egor Klopenko's "The Book of Kindness" is a collection of imaginative fables whose poetic simplicity cannot fail to touch your heart. With wonderful illustrations by Ksenia Panteleeva, Klopenko's book makes for perfect bedtime reading for children, and its heartwarming message will resonate with readers of any age.
– Joseph McAlhany, Publisher at Leverhill, Research Professor at University of Connecticut.
I first read this hug of a book on a grey winter London day. I could literally feel the warm-fuzz of kindness radiate through my body and it left me with a smile on my face for the whole day. I read a lot of submissions in my line of work, but the simplicity of this one has stayed with me. With its gorgeous illustrations, it would be a pity if this book were simply consigned to children’s shelves. I hope this book lands everywhere that kindness is needed.
– Dr. Abia Afsar-Siddiqui, Managing Director TA-HA Publishers.
I have read this book, and I appreciate the simplicity. I may say that the stories are beautifully crafted and provide some wonderful and powerful messages about love, generosity, and teaching small acts of kindness. It is a great job done by author in creating a book that fosters empathy and warmth, and it's a good book for bedtime reading. Great Job! This collection is not just a simple book but a reminder that kindness, no matter how small it is, can light up the world around us.
– Aberdeen Lewis, Publisher, Author.
In a world where children’s literature often races toward adventure and spectacle, this collection of short stories moves in a different direction—inward, toward the profound simplicity of kindness. As we turn each page of this remarkable anthology, we are struck by how these stories manage to be both gentle whispers and powerful declarations, showing
young readers that the most meaningful adventures might be the ones that occur within our own hearts.
– Emmanuel Russel, Publisher, Les Editions Du Figuier.
My dream of creating a book filled with light and kindness for my children and children from all over the world has come true. And I’m happy to share it with you. I really hope you and your children enjoy it and that it brings a little more kindness and light into your world!

This book is soooo cute and phenomenal! The poetry was beautiful and well-written plus with the beautiful pictures just made it such a pretty book to go through. I love reading poetry because I wish that I was that talented. The one that was so cute was about the dog. But overall, this book was so cute. Definitely recommend!

A poetic look at kindness the different types and how they are spread. Each poem does a different view and sets up the meaning of kindness has different ideals.
This book should be read by all children and adults. This book was filled with good reminders of how important small acts of kindness can change the world around you. The illustrations were a beautiful complement to the poems as well.

BOOK REVIEW: “The Book of Kindness” by Egor Klopenko
The Book of Kindness is a collection of poetic short stories for children that encourage empathy and kindness. There is a strong emphasis on family, so many of the characters are “Mommy,” “Daddy,” and “the little girl” or “the little boy.”
The author does a beautiful job of portraying kindness on his pages, and there are whimsical graphics to go along with each story.
Stories included:
❤️ What matters most
❤️ Kindness
❤️ Who is the Kindest of all?
❤️ Star
❤️ Gift
❤️ The Kindwings
❤️ Seed
❤️ What is Kindness?
Of all of the stories in this short book, I think Kindness is my favorite! It’s about a little girl who lived with her mommy and daddy. But someone else always dwelled in their home: Kindness. Kindness went everywhere with them, but one day kindness was gone. Mommy, daddy and the little girl went to town in search of it. They went back home, hoping kindness had come home, but still they couldn’t find it. When the little girl woke up the next morning, she was afraid of what she would find, so she slowly got out of bed. Kindness greeted her like a warm hug! The family made a promise that they would never lose kindness again.
This book is heartwarming and sweet in all of the best ways. I would absolutely purchase this book to read to my children. I rate this book as 5 stars.
I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for my honest unbiased opinion.
An absolutely adorable book about the gift of kindness and how it should be given freely to others around us rather than kept to ourselves and hidden from the world. Meaningful poetry compliments whimsical illustrations in the author's journey to share with readers how to cultivate, accentuate, and spread kindness through communities and neighborhoods. Each of the child characters throughout this delightful book discover the mission of becoming aware of and exploring how kindness helps others and creates a more wonderful world. Bravo to Egor Klopenko for tackling such a noble and profound topic to share with and encourage young readers and their adoring families!
Thank you to Netgalley for my advanced copy.
This book is so cute. I love all the tiny stories teaching stories about how to be kind and all the kindness in the world. I can't wait to buy a copy!
Thank you to Egor Klopenko and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. This book was such a sweet and refreshing experience. This collection of poetic stories invites children (and their parents) to pause and reflect on what it truly means to be kind.
Each tale uses simple yet vivid imagery—like the magical “kindwings” who spread kindness across town or the little girl whose seeds of kindness bloom into flowers—to illustrate empathy, generosity, and love in ways young readers can easily grasp. The language is gentle and approachable, making it a wonderful option for read-aloud moments with children.
I read this book with my girls, and we all enjoyed it together. While it’s different from the stories we typically pick up, they were drawn in by the rhythm and the warmth behind each poem. The illustrations by Ksenia Panteleeva add a soft beauty that pairs perfectly with the text, helping bring the messages to life.
What stood out to me most is how universal these stories feel. The characters—“Mommy,” “Daddy,” “the little boy,” “the little girl”—make it easy for any child to see themselves reflected. And as a parent, I appreciated how the themes opened space for conversations about how we can practice kindness in our own home and community.
Overall, The Book of Kindness is both heartwarming and thought-provoking. It’s not only a lovely bedtime read but also a gentle reminder, for children and adults alike, that even the smallest acts of kindness can brighten the world around us.

Reading Egor Klopenko’s The Book of Kindness feels like stepping into a dream where words are feathers and every page a gentle wingbeat. The rhymes ripple like water, images bloom like seeds into flowers, and kindness drifts through the book like “kindwings” in flight.
Each tale folds into the next, echoing compassion in new shapes — a smile, a seed, a bird — always returning, always reminding us. Paired with tender illustrations, the stories form a cocoon of warmth, a hush where children drift into sleep and adults, too, feel soothed and restored.
This book is not just read, it is felt — like a blanket wrapped across your shoulders, like a whisper reminding you the world can still be gentle. You don’t just read about kindness; you breathe it in, as though the very ink was steeped in warmth.
I loved this and will definitely be purchasing a copy for my future classes to read! I love these kind of books that can help teach them how to treat others and help them understand emotions

Egor Klopenko's book "The Book of Kindness" with it's poetic charm and gorgeous illustrations is an anthology full of kindness. From a family where kindness lives & goes with them everywhere, to a gift that is given to show others our love, like a bright shining star that lights our path at night, or a reminder being carried along by "kindwings" whispering in our ear--kindness is everywhere. Kindness is expressed in different ways and different forms.
Children will enjoy these poetic stories with the eye-catching pictures while learning about kindness through sharing, selflessness, compassion, and our personal interactions.
I enjoyed each of the stories, but I thoroughly adored "Star," "The Kindwings," and "What is Kindness?" I'm sure the children will love them as well!
This book will work wonderfully as a read-aloud to in a classroom to engage children in thoughtful dialogue. Overall, this book will be a delightful addition to any library, classroom, or child's home bookshelf!

💚 First of all, I loved this book 😍! Would definitely get back and re-read. I would highly recommend, especially, primary school kids to read The Book of Kindness. Also, adults can very much enjoy reading it as well, just like the author says in the first poem of the book. Plus, the illustrations were so beautiful that I could spend hours looking at them✨️.
🎁 Here is one of my favourite quotes:
"One day, Mommy was sad...
He searched something worthy to give."

This book is so wonderful and sweet. I love that it is broken down into several different stories that can be read separately but with the common theme of kindness. It never came off as overly cheesy or cutesy. It is perfect for younger children and gives them beautiful stories about kindness that they can understand. The illustrations also also beautiful and add so the stories In such a special way.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this books!
I found this book absolutely charming. In fact, I teared up on several occasions while reading it. The book is filled with little stories about kindness. The first story tells of a storyteller (the author) and how he decides to write a book for his small son, but how frustrated he was with the process until he realized “you should only write about what matters most”, and in this case, of course, he must write about kindness.
One story is about kindness personified as a member of the family who goes missing one day and the sadness that ensues. Another is about who is kindest of them all, and makes the case for a little star to be the kindest. One of my favourites is about the “kindwings” that “fly around town whispering kind words to everyone”.
A beautiful book to treasure in any classroom.

SuchI received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
The Book of Kindness is a beautiful book containing 8 short stories, all containing themes of kindness, compassion, understanding, and generosity. The aim of the book is to nurture and grow compassion, empathy,
and understanding from a young age and for children to discover how much joy and fulfilment these qualities can have as well as make a huge difference to the world and others around them.
The stories are easy to understand and not over complicated, and the illustrations are very much on point with the concept of the book.
This is a great short story collection perfect for bedtimes and classroom storytimes.
a warm hug of kindness from the author to ll of us so Cozy and warm
Well, it is well imagined. Acts of compassion are not about being nice, but being awake. The Book of Kindness is a great read. Simple and effective. Its methodology follows a candid path, one that seems appealing yet rich in self-reflection. The point here is to care with perspective. And eventually, as we grow through the questions, we become what we invest our attention on. Yes, the state of presence, empathy and humility is a state of being. And being 'kind' serves mankind as a whole. Kindness is a fragment of the universal truth. Without it, life cannot go on.
A beautiful children’s book (that I personally think adults should read too) about kindness.
I loved the short little stories that centered around kindness. While a focal point of most of them was how to spread kindness and that kindness isn’t always something that we physically give in an object, it also had a short story on showing kindness to yourself. I think as we grow older, sometimes we lose the compassion we give ourselves due to the expectations of society and this was a beautiful reminder that we also need to give those seeds of kindness to ourselves.
The illustrations were absolutely beautiful and the colors used were aesthetically pleasing.
In a time where it feels like kindness has been forgotten, this book is a beautiful reminder of how we can plant those seeds again. Thank you Egor Klopenko for the copy of your book in exchange of an honest review!
Inspiring and uplifting, it shows how even the smallest good deed can ripple outward and that kindness never go out of style.

The Book of Kindness by Egor Klopenko is beautifully illustrated and uses simple language with heartwarming, poetic stories for young children.
The short stories are well written and easy for little kids to understand, and they give great examples of what kindness is.
A beautifully illustrated poetry book for children about different aspects of kindness. The poetic stories are relatable for children and beautiful in their messages, I particularly like the "kindwings".
It's a great book to strengthen empathy in children.
Quick Summary :
This is a collection of eight short, poetic stories designed as gentle parables. Rather than high-energy adventures, these tales use whimsical imagery—like "Kindwings" (magical birds that spread kind words) and "Seeds of Kindness" (which bloom into flowers)—to make abstract emotions feel real and easy to understand.
What Makes It Special :
Relatable Characters: The book uses universal figures like "Mommy," "Daddy," and "the little girl," so any child can see themselves in the story.
Bedtime Friendly: Each story is the perfect length for a single night’s reading and has a "meditative" quality that helps children calm down before sleep.
Visual Appeal: The artwork is praiseworthy indeed; the bright, "childhood charm" of the illustrations, helps kids visualize kindness as a physical force.
Key Takeaways for Kids in this book :
Kindness isn't always a physical gift; it can be a smile, a hug, or a warm memory.
Small acts can start a "chain reaction" of goodness in a community.
The story "Kindness" personifies the emotion as a family member who lives in your home, teaching that it must be cherished so it doesn't "go missing".
Points to Consider :
Language: While simple, the poetic style can be slightly abstract for very young toddlers (under 4) and may require an adult to explain the deeper meaning.
Length: At 32–35 pages, it is longer than a typical picture book but is meant to be read in sections.
Verdict: An excellent choice for parents looking for a soothing, "heart-centered" book that focuses on empathy and emotional intelligence.
The Book of Kindness is a sweet, poetic collection of short stories that gently teaches young children about compassion, generosity, and empathy. Egor Klopenko uses vivid imagery—like magical “kindwings” fluttering through town and a little girl whose seeds of kindness bloom into a flower—to make abstract ideas feel tangible and relatable.
The universal characters—“Mommy,” “Daddy,” “the little boy,” “the little girl”—allow any child to see themselves in the stories, while recurring themes connect the tales into a cohesive and thoughtful whole. It’s the kind of book that encourages reflection rather than rushing to the next big adventure, showing that the most important journeys often happen in our own hearts.
The artwork is beautiful and adds a tender touch to the storytelling. While some font sizes and passage lengths might be challenging for early independent readers, this makes an ideal bedtime read for parents and children to enjoy together. A warm, caring collection that plants seeds of empathy from the very first page.

I really enjoyed The Book of Kindness by Egor Klopenko
In this story there are several different stories on kindness.
How kindness is needed in everyday life and how kindness is shared amongst all of us.
It tells of when to show kindness and be aware of people that may be feeling down and a little kindness can help put a smile on their faces.
Thank you #NetGalley for the read.
I enjoyed this cute little book. The words gave a sense of love and kindness. I really like the artwork style. With vibrant colors for some and the simple art of what matches each poem.
I think this would be great for many children learning how to be humble and helpful. And, adults could use a primer on this.
Thank you NetGalley and Egor Klopenko for this adorable book, #TheBookofKindness
If you are trying to teach your kid about Kindness and the importance of it I definitely recommend reading this with them. The book of Kindness has little stories about Kindness and shows that it's important to be kind and take people's feelings into consideration.
