Lions and Tigers and...Murders?

Ashling Cleary, the owner and manager of a storybook park in Northern California, isn't exactly leading the fairy tale life she's always dreamed of. She's ignoring her stomach-friendly diet and stuffing herself like Jack Sprat's wife who could eat no lean, her happily-ever-after with the new guy she's dating is looking more and more unlikely, and now, visiting Hollywood celeb Katrina Irvine has been murdered--in the middle of a performance of Sleeping Beauty. Whodunit...and how? Ashling has to figure out the answers fast when her best friend becomes the main suspect..

sometimes what you need is a cosy mystery. and this was one such book for me. its fast paced and grips from start to finish so you just want to keep reading. but it never overwhelms so somehow just feels like a fun and enjoyable read. when the characters are done well with smart plotting like in this one everything falls together and just works.
this book brings us into the world of Ashling who manages the storybook theme park. things are finally looking up when she lands a star for the lead role in her play of Sleeping Beauty. not so good when said star ends up dead. this isn't how that particularly fairy tale was supposed to end and it seems Ashling is being thrust into her own horror show. because what comes next is accusation and a suspect in her own best friend. so its down to her to solve this mystery before anyone else gets hurt.
i love how each part of this book was really well thought out and had those small and even smaller details done that make mysteries like this work so well.
you are kept guessing along for the ride as clues and the murder is figured out. because yes the star wasn't exactly making herself popular around the park and not exactly treating people kindly. but murder is another level and Ashling cant have that.
a light bright book that i thoroughly enjoyed reading.
this book felt like a grown up version of those tv shows i used to get to watch when i was younger,on the sofa tucked up because i was off poorly. especially if my gran was looking after me whilst mum was working.what happened to those shows!?
